Autojosh, my tint is the one they call nylon tinted. Is it possible to get permits on these or are permits issued only for factory tinted windows? Cos on Valentine day those bastard Anthony Police held me and I had to cough out a tidy sum because I was ignorant

The permit is only for factory tinted windows but many drivers still use it for vehicles that don't come with the factory tint. Police officers can still catch you easily if the tint is on the rear door window.. they roll down to see where the nylon meets the glass. Better to leave the nylon tint on only the rear windshield.

Try Ikeja or Central Motor Registry @ Force Headquarters, Obalende. The time frame depends on so many factors but it will definitely take a while. Maybe a week if you are lucky or much more.

First Method
This is the legal and most advisable process. In this process, you have to visit the police website (www.npf.gov.ng).. fill and download the application form or visit a police command office to pick up the necessary application forms. This method is free but expect to pay a few bucks here and there.

-Visit the Nigeria Police Force website.
-Click “tinted permit” under quick links.
-Fill the application form on the right side to obtain an application ID.
-In order to complete the application process, login with your email and the application ID given to you.
-Fill the Bio-Data form and provide the details of the vehicle you want to obtain a tint permit for.
-Take the print-out to any police command for barcode verification, capture your biometrics and collect you tint permit certificate.

Second Method
You can use a trusted agent who could charge average of 10k to do the entire process on your behalf. Several Nigerians tend to prefer this method due to time constraint.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency‘s response unit – LASEMA was on a rescue operation at Iba Road, inward LASU after a Toyota Corolla ran off the road.

The LRU officials were able to successfully recover the vehicle in time. No life was lost. More pics below:

The Range Rover family tree is about to get a new sibling. It's the Range Rover Velar. It has been confirmed by Land Rover and would be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

In the line up, the Velar is positioned between the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque. It will also be competing with the Audi Q5, Porsche Macan and even the Jaguar F-Pace.

Land Rover’s chief design officer, Gerry McGovern, said: “We call the Velar the avant-garde Range Rover. It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand.

“The Range Rover Velar changes everything,” he added.

Velar means "veil" or "cover" in Latin.. so we'll sit back and wait for more info about the ride when the "veil" is unveiled in March.

If you could remember, in one of my previous posts, I talked about the rusted 1952 Volkswagen beetle that was sold for about N30Million during an auction in Paris. The car was parked on the same spot for over 50 years and more than half its parts were totally condemned, rusted and damaged, yet it was still sold for that ridiculously expensive price.

Well, here’s another awkward set of rusty cars. This looks like the apocalypse.

It’s believed there are hundreds of classic cars remaining in the wreckage and, in scrap metal alone, it could be worth up to £100,000 (N63,000,000).

Did you know that some cars bear different names in other countries as against what we call them in Nigeria?

The major reason is, car manufacturers won’t use a name that would compromise their car sales in any country. For example, Mitsubishi “Pajero” ended up as Mitsubishi “Montero” in some countries because it means “self-servicer = To Masturbate” in spanish.

In some cases different manufacturers pull resources together to produce the same car. This saves cost especially research cost.
