The first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word Bentley ,is class,luxury,money,speed and more money.

The entire car world is gradually going electric.Why should this legendary automaker be left out ?.

They have unveiled an electric car concept at the on going Geneva Motor Show.The call it “Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e”

This sweet looking baby can go about 190 miles on full charge according to them .

While there are presently concerns on the weight of the car ,since they are known for genuine wood,leather and metal.Their engineers and designers are working hard on reducing the weight without compromising on the quality and luxury that Bentley is known for.

Details on its full features at this point are still sketchy.We expect that they would release its full features soon.

Airbus is mostly synonymous with the production of airplanes .Not to long ago they ventured into making flying cars.

We have all seen drones ,if small drones could be built ,why not build a car-like drone for everyone.

Airbus calls it “Pop.up”,its a car that can move on land and in air.

It is a modular, fully-electric, with zero emission concept design .They believe it would help solve the problem of traffic congestion in crowded countries.

When you get stuck in traffic it can disconnect from its four wheels and attaches itself to a quadcopter ,making it look like a drone.Therefore giving you the ability to fly.

However there are some concerns on regulations and safety ,when using this technology in urban environments.

Just imagine getting stuck in traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge and you lift off,fly just above the water to your destination.Fun right ?.

While it would take about 5-10 years to perfect this technology,they have made quite significant progress.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was spotted around Lagos Inspecting some of the ongoing projects in the state. These projects include..

- The 1.5km four-lane Abule Egba Flyover that comes with walkways on both sides.
- The Ojodu-Berger Regeneration project.
- The Aboru-Ayobo/Ipaja link bridge which will ease traffic and boost economic activities upon completion.

Do you remember the days of Bendel Line that later split into Edo Line and Delta Line? I think Edo Line became more fun to travel with than Delta Line. They had a larger fleet of cars with more interesting drivers who would criss-cross from Lagos to Port Harcourt with admirable driving skills. The way those guys used to dodge potholes at Ore and Patani express, no be for here. Even their downshifts will make you feel like you are in a rally race. Every road trip was more like a competition.

If remember all this, it is almost certain you’ll be in love with this 1980s Peugeot 504 station wagon. But do you love it to the extent of paying ₦6million for it?

This model is one of Peugeot’s most iconic and served the company for about 14 years. Even Peugeot’s ending production at Sochaux couldn’t kill the 504, as assembly plants in Nigeria and Kenya continued to sell them using knocked-down-parts.

I was not surprised when I saw some available for sale above $10,000. Would you pay that much for a 1982 504?

We’ve seen a few Smart Fortwo on the streets of Nigeria.. looks cute and efficient on gas. But maintenance may be an ish. To wow its enthusiasts, a BRABUS version has been launched… and the price is not smiling.

A base price of $52,760 is about N24m in Nigeria. Shipping and custom duty will also add a couple of millions to the landing cost. Despite this steep price, we’ll definitely see this on Nigerian roads.

Only 125 units will be produced with 123hp 3 cylinder engine which gets from 0-60 in 9.2 seconds.. and a maximum speed of 109mph (177.7kph).

It comes with a wider body kit, 18 inch wheels and a triple exhaust that looks like that of a Ferrari 458 Italia.

One of the most amazing feature of this car is the interior that blends with the same exterior colour. You can pick it in coupe or soft top convertible.

This mini car sells like hot cake in Europe because of the narrow roads.

Many of us won’t be liking this as Mercedes-Benz recalls 1 million vehicles. According to Automotive News, these cars may become Car-B-Ques.

This recall was made after 51 fires were reported due to defective starter parts. The starter motor overheats when the car doesn’t start after many attempts.

The affected vehicles include C-class, E-class, and CLA, GLA and GLC made between 2015 and 2017. So if your car doesn’t start, it may be better not to push too hard.

Fortunately, no injuries or deaths have been reported. 30 out of the 51 occurred in the United States.

You’ve probably seen the Sedan, Estate and Coupe. We’d like you to meet the one that completes the E-Class family tree… It’s the all new Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet. Benz has put in a lot of work to revamp the entire E class line up within a year.

This is an almost identical twin of the two-door coupe we reviewed HERE. However, the cabriolet comes with blue, black or brown retractable roof which can fold up and down in 20 seconds while driving at speeds up to 30 mph.
The new E-Class Cabriolet is longer and wider than the outgoing model.. thereby getting more interior cabin space. For the first time, it’ll be getting an all-wheel drive as well as the usual rear-wheel drive. We are yet to get more information about this ride but we know that it is getting a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission, which produces 329 hp in the Coupe amongst other engines.

It will also come with several features that currently exists in the sedan and coupe.. like the Air Body Control multi-chamber air suspension, 12.3-inch display screen, LED ambient lighting with as many as 64 different color options and many more.

Do you prefer this to the coupe and sedan? As for me, I will settle for the coupe.

Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) who is the Comptroller-General of Customs, has approved a grace period of 1 month for all Nigerians to pay custom import duty on all cars whose duties have not been paid. The grace period spans from Monday 13th March to Wednesday 12th April 2017.

Therefore, all car dealers and private car owners are advised to visit any of the 4 Custom Zonal Office nearest to them to do the needful. These offices are: Zone A Headquarters, No. 1 Harvey Road, Yaba, Lagos; Zone B Headquarters, Kabala Doki, Kaduna; Zone C Headquarters, Nigeria Ports Authority, Port Harcourt and Zone D Headquarters, Yelwa Tudu Road, Bauchi State.

Col. Hammed has also called on all Nigerians to take advantage of the grace period to regularize affected vehicles which are in their possession. As soon as the window closes, an aggressive anti-smuggling operation to seize as well as prosecute owners of such smuggled vehicles will be launched.

For the avoidance of doubt, all private car owners who are not sure of the authenticity of their vehicle custom documents can also approach the Zonal Offices to verify with a view to complying with the provision of the law.

Supercars and superstars would always be like bread and butter ,inseparable !.

The supercar in question is the new Bugatti Chiron Hypercar and the superstar is Christiano Ronaldo.

Already having a line of supercars in his garage including a Lamborghini Aventador, Mercedes-AMG GLE and a Bugatti Veyron ,he was chosen by Bugatti to test drive this beautiful piece of machinery.

In this video Christiano Ronaldo makes us hunger and thirst for a 1500 Hp beauty.And the sound of the engine is just so melodious .

The Chiron has in it an upgraded version of the 8.0-liter, W16 quad-turbocharged engine found in the Veyron. The torque is rated at 1,180 lb-ft, and 62 mph can be reached in a mind blowing 2.5 seconds . It has Carbon silicon carbide brake rotors, which are both larger and thicker than on the Veyron. The front calipers has eight pistons, the rears has six.

This is indeed a beauty,even C Ronaldo felt like stealing it.

Winter tyres? In Nigeria??

I am sure you are currently battling with these questions at the moment.

Sure, some of us drive with winter tyres in Nigeria.. knowingly or unknowingly. The problem is, these winter tyres damage our roads as they become soft and sticky in hot weather thereby peeling the road surface quicker. Some of them even have metal studs/spikes which cause further damage to our roads. You would even hear the noise of the studs grinding on the road or the tyres sticking to the ground when the cars are driving close to you.

How many of us ever did a thorough inspection of the tyres that came with our cars from USA, Canada and Europe? Go check your car tyres right away.. ensure it does not have the M+S symbol which stands for MUD & SNOW and/or the three-peaked mountain with snowflake symbol as seen in the attached picture.

Several accidented cars are shipped to Nigeria and a reasonable chunk of those accidents are caused by snow... which means those cars may have been running on winter tyres.

By law, you are not meant to use these tyres during summer because they are bad for hot and dry pavement. Only summer tyres can give you the safety and performance you need in warm weather.

With their special compounds and tread patterns, winter tyres are designed to stay soft and flexible in cold conditions, providing traction and grip in low temperatures on wet and icy surfaces. But with the hot weather in Nigeria, they lose this advantage, grip declines and the tread starts to wear faster as the tyres become soft and sticks to the hot roads.

It appears an Audi R8 which is allegedly owned by Davido has been wrecked in Lagos. The car was pictured on a flat bed on the streets of Lagos. The details of the accident remain unknown, and we can't confirm if the singer was involved in the accident or not.

Luckily the Audi R8's engine is located at the rear end of the car. Nonetheless, the repair cost would still be able to buy a clean tokunbo car.

Volvo promises deathproof cars by 2020

The world of automobiles is just gearing for to the impossible. These white engineers are really pushing themselves beyond the limit and come 2020, we will be witnessing a revolution in the automobile world. But for now, the hot gist around is that Volvo promises death proof cars by 2020. According to them these cars will have the highest security features ever installed in a car such that no one will be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car or SUV.

Ultimately, all these new technologies will be tied together to create a car that can, literally, drive itself.

Here’s a look at the features that, when combined together in one vehicle, will essentially make it crash proof.

1.Adaptive Cruise Control: Adaptive cruise control, which is already available on many new cars, uses radar and sometimes other sensors to detect vehicles on the road ahead. You set a maximum speed and your car maintains a safe following distance on its own, operating the gas and the brakes for you. Some systems like this only work at highway cruising speeds, but many can work even in stop-and-go traffic.

2.Auto lane keeping assist: Cameras detect lane lines and road edges, and the car steers itself to stay in its lane.

3.Collision avoidance: Radar, cameras or other sensors detect obstacles ahead and warn the driver. If the driver still doesn’t react, the car can apply the brakes automatically to avoid, or at least reduce, the impact of a crash. In the United States, auto safety regulators have found this technology particularly effective in reducing crashes.

4.Pedestrian detection: Cameras, including ones that can see in the dark, are programmed to detect human forms that might wander into the path of the car. Drivers can be alerted and again, the car can brake automatically.

5.Large animal detection: Hitting a cow is definitely bad for the animal but it’s also very bad for a car’s passengers. Volvo has created a system that can detect when a big animal is walking in front of your car, saving both you and the absent-minded animal.

6.All other existing features including airbags and seat belts would also be improved.

Sadly, it may take sometime before all these features can function in Nigeria. How will lane keep assist even work when our roads and highways are not properly demarcated?

This is the evolution of our driver's licence in Nigeria. It has gone through various stages of development from the booklet type that looks like a hospital card to the single laminated form .. and now we have the plastic cards we currently use.
