South Korean popular musician and actor Ji Chang Son made headlines recently when he filed a lawsuit against Tesla, claiming his Model X accelerated on its own into his room wall while trying to park it.

In response to the suit a Tesla spokesperson said .“In every case we’ve seen where unintended acceleration was alleged, the vehicle diagnostic logs confirmed the acceleration was due to the driver pressing the accelerator pedal,”

After the incident which happened in September, son went to Tesla to notify them about what happened, according to the Tesla spokesperson. Tesla responded by having a technician examine his car’s data, at which point Tesla says it found that Son depressed the throttle pedal to the maximum.

Son who was not satisfied with the company response filled a suit against the company and also took to Facebook, to recount is version of the incident, he posted:
“How could they make me out to be such a shameless person to put my life on the line that way? They boast that Tesla X is the safest car, but to my family, it is a name that we will never forget.”

Tesla, however claimed that the incident has occurred as a result of human fault rather than system failure.

In all of these cases, Tesla’s statements are quite clear. A throttle pedal push is a throttle pedal push, and there’s no mistaking it for anything else.

Nevertheless, Son’s suit alleges that, in large part because of the NHTSA complaints, “Tesla knew that the Model X was defectively designed or manufactured, unsafe, and was not suitable for its intended use,” and that Tesla knew that the Model X “would fail without warning.”

At the heart of it, Son feels that he was not at fault, and even if he was at fault, the car should have stopped him regardless.

Brabus is without doubt one of the leading performance tuner for Mercedes and Maybach for more than 40 years now, having first been launched in 1977. The E-Class W213 is the latest luxury Mercedes sedan to get the tuning treatment, with a lots of after-market accessories that can boost the performance and also adds some more aggressive styling to the car. one of the latest exterior flourishes in the styling package include menacing air intake surrounds and a front spoiler which reduces lift on the front axle to improve the handling.


Elsewhere, a subtle spoiler can also be installed on the trunk lid, and the rear bumper can be fitted with a diffuser to show off its quad exhaust. This all combines to give the E-Class a much more menacing appearance, as well as improve the aerodynamics. Completing the exterior are optional monoblock alloy “Platinum Edition” wheels available at an extra cost, which range from 18 to 21 inches. Stiffer springs also lower the ride height by about 1.2 inches, but this only applies to models with air suspension. Of course, no tuning package is complete without some modifications under the hood.


The 3.0-liter turbodiesel in the range-topping E350d gets an additional 50 horsepower and added torque thanks to the D6 S kit, bringing the total to 305 horsepower and 531 lb-ft. 0-62 mph is now achieved in 5.7 seconds, making it two tenths of a second faster than the regular model. The electronic speed limiter is still in place, though, so you’ll still only be able to reach a top speed of 150 mph. The model below, the E220d, also benefits from a D3 power kit which boosts the power by an extra 27 hp and 37 lb-ft, bringing the total to 219 hp and 332 lb-ft.


Though the Performance figures weren’t disclosed, but it stands to reason that it should have an advantage over the sluggish standard model, which takes 7.3 seconds to reach 0-60 mph. As for the cabin, you get a typically extensive choice of lavish leather and Alcantara upholsteries to personalize your Merc, along with stainless steel scuff plates with a backlit Brabus logo in 64 colors (yes, seriously).

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Tuesday said it would install 13,000 Closed Circuit Television cameras at major flashpoints across the state to boost its operations.

According to a statement issued by Adebayo Kehinde, LASEMA’s head of Public Affairs Unit, the move is part of efforts by the state government to improve the impact of emergency and disaster management in the state through effective and efficient response system.

The government also plans to step up a Monitoring and Surveillance Unit and establish additional dispatch centres across the state, the statement added.

Adesina Tiamiyu, General Manager of LASEMA, said the 13,000 CCTV cameras would complement the emergency call numbers as analysts could adequately monitor activities from the Command and Control Centres across the State.

“These combined efforts can only make Lagos safer,” Mr. Tiamiyu said.

The LASEMA boss disclosed further that Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved the establishment of three dispatch centres at Lekki, Ikorodu Road and Badagry, noting that it would complement the existing dispatch points located at the LASEMA Response Unit, Cappa, Oshodi, and the Command and Control Centre, Alausa.

Mr. Adesina said the agency is stepping up the activities of its Monitoring and Surveillance Unit in preventing unnecessary loss of lives and properties in the State.

“The operation will include monitoring and surveillance activities in domestic, industrial and public facilities in the State which is a paradigm shift from the orthodox strategy of waiting for emergency to occur and then respond,” he said.

Mr. Tiamiyu, however, reiterated the need for the public to partner with the government in mitigating, preventing and consequently reducing hazards, risks and vulnerability in the state.

He added that distress calls on emerging hazards and risks be relayed to the agency through the toll free line 112/767, for prompt intervention.

Always Have A Fire Extinguisher
I cant shout this loud enough, always have a fire extinguisher in you car ,all the time !!!.

Drive Safely
A good percentage of car fires occur as a result of reckless driving most times after a collision , so always drive safely , and stay sober (don’t drive while drunk ).

Avoid Transporting Fuel
I know this is almost impossible in Naija , but as much as you can , avoid transporting fuel in kegs , in your boot,if its inevitable , make sure it isn’t full to the brim and its very stable and upright .Also keep it far away from electrical wires.

Always Do Routine Check Ups
- Before you take a drive , pop open your bonnet , check the fuel nozzles or pipes, make sure they are well fitted and there are no leakages .
- Always check your fuel tank for leaks and cracks .Don’t ignore any , no matter how small.
- Always look around for open or “naked” wires and seal them up with a masking tape,a little spark can start a massive fire.
- Make sure your battery terminals are well fitted to prevent unnecessary sparks .
- Replace bad fuses

Tidy Up
Keep your boot and inside your car free of paper and other items that can easily catch fire as much as possible .

Park In A Safe Location
When you got to eat out in Iya Basira’s shop park far away from her firewood .Always park your car far away from anything that could possible trigger a fire, no matter how small .

A few months ago, Mercedes-Benz gave a hint of a 1,000 hp Mercedes Hypercar. Now, their CEO, Dieter Zetsche, has confirmed to Top Gear the 1,000 hp AMG hypercar will officially be revealed this September at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

“It will be limited production (300 units), and ideally we want it to be sold out before the first one is delivered”.

This street legal road car will come with a Formula One engine.. therefore making it the ultimate sports car.

It will be powered by a high-revving 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 paired to an electric motor. Obviously, down force and aerodynamics are two key design requirements.

It's no news that the rate of accidents on that bridge are increasing .I don't pray you experience a water crash , but what if it happens , how do you survive one ? .

Stay Calm

I know in this scenario staying calm is one of the last things you might think of , but its actually one thing that can save your life , you need all the oxygen you can get ,don't waste it panicking .

Brace For Impact

As soon as you go flying off the side of the bridge towards the water , the first thing to do is get ready for the impact,I know at that moment you would be freaked out,but you need to be ready.Place both hands firmly on the steering wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock position.Know that every second counts, ignore your phone , don't call anyone just yet.You need to survive !!!.

Make Use Of All The Air You Can Get

While the car is filling up with water and there is still air , you have to make use of all the air you can get ,take slow and deep breaths while following all these steps

Unbuckle !!

This is very important the next step is to unbuckle your seat belt .If there are kids in the car unbuckle theirs too.Its best to start with the eldest so they can help out.

Aim For The Window

The first impulse people feel most times is to aim for the door , this is actually wrong and most times its close to impossible , because of hydraulic pressure in the water.Your best bet is going out through the window.Try winding it down , if its not going down ,remove the head rest of your seat or any other hard and strong material and use the metal to smash the window.

Swim Up !!

Once the window is out of the way , if there are kids ,they should go out first , while you are holding them firmly , the water current might be too strong for them .Then you should all swim up while you push them(the kids) up.

Seek Help

As soon as you can ,seek medical help, while you are above the water,find something to hold on to , remember not to let the kids go.And if its your spouse I think Titanic is a good inspiration .

Jokes apart, seeking medical help as soon as possible is important , in the case of Third Mainland Bridge where it won't be easy to swim ashore ,screaming for help while holding onto something is important ,most likely someone would have already seen you plunging down the bridge so they are already trying to rescue you.

BMW lost its crown as the world’s biggest luxury car brand to Mercedes-Benz, ending its reign after more than a decade.

The Munich-based manufacturer sold 80,000 fewer cars last year than the Daimler AG brand, which drew younger buyers with sporty redesigns and a bigger array of increasingly popular SUVs.

Mercedes had lagged behind the BMW AG marque since 2005 and temporarily dropped below Audi to third place before a revamped SUV lineup drove a strong comeback in recent years.

While BMW Chief Executive Officer Harald Krueger says he’s more focused on profitability than on sales, he needs funds to cover rising investments in electric cars and self-driving features. All three German luxury-car makers face that challenge — along with increased competition from expansions by smaller rivals such Jaguar, Volvo and Alfa Romeo, and from new entrants such as Tesla Motors Inc.

BMW is particularly vulnerable because it doesn’t have the deep pockets of a large parent to fall back on. Climbing research and development spending has pushed BMW profitability lower, with the ongoing revamp of its lineup also weighing on its earnings.

In Nigeria, some car features are used differently from the purpose they serve abroad. In some cases, we don't even use these features at all because they may cause more harm than good.

Let's take a look at some of the 5 car features we use differently:

1) Daytime Running Light (DRL):

For most Nigerians, the Daytime Running Light is more about the efizzy.. As we don't care about the functionalities. Some will even turn on their headlights if their car does not have DRL.. then they forget to turn it off when they get to their destination. The DRL is actually a safety feature that makes your car more visible to others especially during persistently dark and hazy winter seasons.

2) 4 Wheel Drive:

In several other countries, most drivers prefer the 4 wheel drive due to winter.. because it gives better traction in the snow. However, Nigerians want it for the bad roads or to climb culvert to escape traffic.

3) Engine stop-start function:

This feature is used to conserve fuel and reduce emission at traffic lights and in traffic congestion. It turns off the engine when you come to a complete stop.. and the engine fires back up when you lift your leg from the brakes. Most Nigerians i have seen just turn this feature off.. because, imagine the stop and go traffic, pressing your brakes for Okada and pedestrians etc.. your car will just be doing off and on like PHCN.

4) In dash navigation:

Many of us want our cars to have the Nav system for effizy. This thing will only navigate us to nowhere.. and please, don't buy those Chinko aftermarket screens. They will definitely disfigure your dashboard.

5) Bluetooth connectivity:

This is an amazing feature. You can make and receive phone calls without touching your phone. But I was surprised to learn that some of us hate this feature because our spouse must not hear our talk. Someone even cut off the whole connection cable because he didn't want to take chances.

1. Error or Omission of a digit especially in the engine/chassis number:
No man is a above mistake no dey for police dictionary. Make sure you check your vehicle papers word for word and letter for letter. Even the spelling of your name and address.

2. No engine number on vehicle papers:
Most car owners overlook their engine number because it is hard to see on the engine block. Some believe they are the same with the Chassis/VIN number. If police catch you, you will know the truth. These guys know the exact location of the engine number on most cars. It’s better you take the pain to search for it now than fall victim later.

3. Only rear windshield is tinted:
You may get away with this after a big fight. But a desperate officer will never release you until you drop something. However, a tint permit will give you a free pass.

4. If you carry stuffs that don’t have receipt in your car:
This one is really crazy. If you carry N15k DVD player, they will ask for receipt. You carry N8k standing fan, they will ask for receipt. Meanwhile your phone is a N470k iPhone 7 plus

5. Actual car colour is different from the colour on your vehicle paper(s):
Did you just register or renew your vehicle papers? Did you just respray your car to another colour? Always ensure the colours are the same.. because our Nigeria police will quickly conclude that you stole the car.

The very first Volkswagen Microbus went into production in 1950. And it is formerly known as “Danfo” in Nigeria.

Bus conductors, take not.. You cannot go and be doing that your Mushin Olosa thing in this new Volkswagen Microbus..

Volkswagen expects this I.D concept to drive itself in the future.

Some of the many wonders of this bus are:

- The steering can disappear into the cockpit.. just a press of the VW logo will do that.
- The front seats can also swivel round by 180 degrees to face the rear passengers.
- It boasts of 369 horsepower.
- It has a 373-mile range.
- It also features an augmented reality dashboard that can hook up to the driver’s smartphone.

The all-new 2018 Lexus LS flagship sedan has officially landed. And it’s exactly how we would expect the latest LS to look like — wild spindle grille, fancy zigzag LED headlights, and a rear end with a light kit that resembles two alien heads facing off.

Lexus’ fifth-generation LS made its dramatic debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. Under the hood, it features an all-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that delivers 415 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Lexus says it will ferry its driver and passengers from 0-to-60 mph in a quick 4.5 seconds to boot.

Its new V-6 engine is mated to a modern 10-speed transmission that is also used for its new Lexus LC coupe. There are Normal, Sport, and Sport+ modes with shifter paddles to tailor your driving experience the way you like it. Lexus tells us the transmission is a torque-converter automatic with shift times “that rival those of dual-clutch transmissions.”

There’s also an advanced electronic control system, which “anticipates the driver’s input and chooses the ideal ratio by monitoring the acceleration, braking, and lateral-g forces.”

“We set previously unheard of targets and resolutely pushed ahead towards these ambitious goals,” said Toshio Asahi, LS chief engineer in a statement.

“The customers who are going to want to own a Lexus flagship are already surrounded by luxury on a daily basis, people who have a sharp eye for authenticity to begin with. We wouldn’t turn their heads with a conventional premium product.”

Taller passengers have plenty of legroom courtesy of a stretched and wider GA-L platform also shared with the LC. Its 123-inch wheelbase is 1.3-inch longer than last year’s model. The LS is also about 0.6-inch lower, with the hood and trunk shaving off an additional 1.2-inch and 1.6-inch, respectively.

“The LS is the flagship of the Lexus brand,” said Koichi Suga, chief designer. “More than any other model, it embodies the history and image of Lexus and serves as a symbol for everything the brand stands for.”

The 2018 Lexus LS gets a new six-side window design and its moonroof slides open for fresh air fans. There are also two new 19- and three 20-inch wheel designs to choose from for that aftermarket look.

Inside, there are 28-way power front seats that can heat, cool, and massage the driver, front passenger, and even the rear seated ones, too. A power front and rear seat with Shiatsu massage and a raised ottoman is also offered as a wider rear seat luxury package and seems like a must have for the lux lifers.

Cabin noise is kept to a minimum thanks in part to the Lexus Active Noise Control system, which can reportedly detect engine sounds entering the sedan and cancel “certain frequencies using anti-phase sound from the audio speakers.”

If silence is not your game, there’s a premium 3D surround Mark Levinson audio package with in-ceiling speakers to help burst your eardrums.

There’s a 12.3-inch navigation screen on the dash and if you are not paying attention to the road, like you always should. But should you somehow get distracted, there’s a complete safety package available, with one of the newest systems being Intuitive Pedestrian Detection with Active Steering available.

Here’s a description of the pedestrian detection system, according to Lexus: “If a person is detected in the lane ahead and a collision is imminent, the LS is designed to automatically brake and potentially steer around the person while staying in the lane.”

Pricing and EPA mileage ratings haven’t been announced, but the 2018 Lexus LS models are expected to go on sale by the end of the year.
