TravelFRSC Announces Plans To Use Cameras On their Patrol Vehicles by AutoJoshNG(op): 4:04pm On Jan 06, 2017
The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, has announced plans to deploy cameras on patrol vehicles to track traffic offenders.

He made the announcement while decorating newly promoted FRSC officials.

He also said the new device would be installed on all FRSC’s patrol vans.

“Worried by incessant knock-down of staff by “rogue motorists,” the FRSC has decided to push for stiffer penalties for offenders especially tanker and trailer drivers.“The corps would deploy cameras in its vehicles to enable water tight prosecution of road traffic offenders. The Volkswagen Gulf and Opel Vectra commercial vehicle operators would also be in closer focus this year because their activities have become a negative narrative in the road sector,” he said.

Furthermore “An increase in mobile court would also be witnessed countrywide and so would be mobile speed control to check excessive speeding along major road corridors.”

Finally, he announced the establishment of 20 commands in 2017 and stated that the FRSC had secured the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari to improve their logistics and recruit more personnel.

Car Talk5 Unbelievable Vehicles Owned By Equatorial Guinea’s President’s Son by AutoJoshNG(op): 3:44pm On Jan 06, 2017
His name is Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the 47 year old son of the president of Equatorial Guinea. He is also the country’s vice president.

His is currently on trial in Paris for living lavishly off public funds. He has been displaying his wealth on instagram.. he shares photos of himself with semi-naked women, skiing, scuba-diving, driving super cars, motor bikes, submersibles and speed boats, holidaying in various exotic spots, dressed in expensive outfits and accessories.

He has been unrepentant despite backlash from his countrymen.. Some commented on social media saying:

“You put up photos, showing us everything you have. The people of your country have nothing. Doesn’t that weigh on your conscience a bit?”

“You’re spending money on silly things and here I am unable to afford even bread.”

Obiang’s lawyers claim his wealth is legal despite earning less than $100,000 per annum as his country’s vice president.

Car Talk5 Ways To Buy The Cheapest Cars In Nigeria by AutoJoshNG(op): 11:42am On Jan 06, 2017
Have you ever been swindled when trying to buy a car in Nigeria?.. You are not alone.

One reason some of us fall for this cheap fraud is because we want to buy the baddest cars.. but we want to pay next to nothing. As I write, some Nigerians are out there searching for “Tokunbo Toyota Big Daddy” for N550,000.. The truth is, you won’t even get a good one for N1.5m.

Genuinely cheap cars are difficult to come by in Nigeria.. however, these 5 steps can guide you when trying to buy the cheapest cars..however, these 5 steps can guide you when trying to buy the cheapest cars in Nigeria:

Don’t be in a haste:
The first rule of thumb is, never be in a haste.. never be desperate. Don’t fall for all that “someone already made a deposit or someone is coming to pay for it tomorrow”.. So, comport yourself and the car you will drive will not pass you by. This may save you a lot of bucks as most Nigerians get their best deals when they are not in a rush.

Nigerian used cars:
Many of us try to avoid Nigerian used cars but they ultimately become our last resort. This will always remain the cheapest option whether you want to buy a Toyota First Lady or.. a Range Rover Autobiography..

However, you have to really shine your eyes because several Nigerians only sell their cars.. when they are looking for someone to pass the maintenance cost to. Just make sure you are not that person that would use his/her money to buy another man’s problem.

Buy from family and friends:
Some family and friends may give additional discount due to sentiment.. especially if they are attached to the car and still want to see it around once in a while. However, don’t be too gullible.. don’t overlook any vital information based on trust.

Buy from USA auction and import yourself:
Some Nigerians refer to this as “point and kill”. It is definitely a cheaper option than buying in Nigeria.. because you would have eliminated the dealer’s profit, middle men’s brokerage and other ancillary charges. Your savings may range from a few thousands to several millions.

Online car sites:
Make sure you compare prices on Konga, Cheki, Jiji, OLX etc.. This can help you spot the best deals.. it will also improve your bargaining power.. as well as save your time and money instead of driving from Sango to Ajah in search of a car you might never find.

Car Talk5 Places Where Driverless Cars Can Work In Nigeria by AutoJoshNG(op): 1:01pm On Jan 05, 2017
Yeah it’s all about driverless cars . A while ago I wrote an article on seven reasons why driverless cars won’t work on Nigerian Roads. See here.. https://www.nairaland.com/3511682/7-reasons-why-driverless-cars/1#51811148

A lot of people misinterpreted the article ,well I did not say it wouldn’t work in Nigeria ,I said it wouldn’t work on Nigerian roads . So where can driverless cars possibly work in Nigeria, let’s find out.

Large Hospitals
So many Nigerian Public hospitals are very big , and not everybody has a car ,ambulances or its drivers are not always available. If you have to trek ,the distance is ironically breath-taking when someones life is at stake.Imagine a system where someone who needs urgent medical care gets to the gate and is taken directly to the ER in seconds or few minutes with the push of a button with pre-programmed cars .

Higher Institutions
If you attended higher institutions like Yabatech where the landmass/ area is not that large then you are lucky. But if you attended schools like Unilorin then you would understand the pain of getting to your lecture room .Since most higher institution roads are ok,self driving cars and buses would really work here.

Large Estates
Nigerian estates especially some large ones can be very annoying , you just cannot take okada or public transport in.You are left with two options : use a private car or your “legedis benz”.Driverless cars would be very useful in such places.

Religious Camps
Not everyone who attends camps has a car.Nowadays camps are massive ,and since the roads are usually good in camps and well networked, with a considerably lower traffic density compared to major roads, driverless cars would work here.

Airports and Surroundings
Without a doubt this is one of the places where driverless cars would work without hassles .The road networks are good and well tarred and traffic lights are usually on(when they are available) .Because of little or no power interruption driverless cars would work without hassles.

Where else do you think driverless cars can work in Nigeria , we would like to hear from you.

Also don’t forget to like comment and share.Thank You

That is exactly what these Chinese guys have done. Let us take a look at some of the cars they duplicated..

Although they took the tail lights right out of an Audi Q7, every other part was cloned from the Q3… From the trunk, pillars and belt-line down to the tyre wells.

Travel7 Things To Check In Your Car Before A Long Drive - FRSC by AutoJoshNG(op): 10:18am On Jan 05, 2017
Most times, many of us use our car for short journeys only. Due to this, we tend to somewhat neglect our vehicles.. only to become concerned when an impending long drive is required.

Taking a long drive increases stress on many components of your vehicle and if you’re not used to taking long journeys, it’s important that you ensure your car is up to the job before leaving.

There are some aspects FRSC wants us to know.

1. Engine oil:

This is the lifeblood of the the engine. Engine oil needs to be changed as recommended in your vehicle manual as it becomes less efficient over time

2. Engine coolant:

This is essentially a combination of antifreeze and water. Antifreeze does help to prevent the coolant from freezing during subzero temperatures.. but the chemicals in antifreeze (ethylene glycol) actually increase the boiling point of water which also helps to prevent engines from overheating.

3. Windscreen washer fluid:

It is often neglected and only noticed when you really need it. The last thing you want is to be traveling on a road you don’t know with smears on the windscreen making it difficult to see.

4. Brake fluid:

Similarly to the engine coolant system, the brake system should be a sealed unit. Spongy brake pedal or frequent top-ups of brake fluid may indicate a leak in the system, or degraded fluid in the system that requires draining and replacing.

5. Battery:

If your car is quite new, then this shouldn’t be an issue. A car battery lasts from around four years onward. There’s not really a specific time when they need replacing as it’s dependent on various factors such as quality of the battery, driving habits – frequent short drives can lessen a battery's life and colder climates may shorten a battery's lifespan.

6. Tyres:

Check all tyres to ensure your vehicle remains legal and stable whilst driving.

7. Lights:

It is a legal requirement to have working external lighting on your vehicle, so have an all-round check to see if they’re all working. Activate the hazards for an easier method of checking indicators.

Other items that can be taken along includes: Water and Food, First Aid Kit, Torch / Flash Light etc.

I hope you enjoyed it. Is there anything you feel to add, add using the comments button.

Car Talk10 Amazing Facts About Mercedes You Should Know by AutoJoshNG(op):
Whether you use a Mercedes or not , you can’t help but give kudos to this awesome automobile company .What you should also know is there are some very interesting facts about Mercedes.

1. Mercedes-Benz produced both a hybrid vehicle and an electric vehicle in 1906!
2. Each Mercedes 500E was hand-built by Porsche and took a full 18 days to make.
3. Anti-Lock Brakes were first used in Mercedes-Benz cars in 1978. They have been standard equipment on all Mercedes-Benz cars since model year 1989.
4. In 1936, Mercedes-Benz made the first diesel-engined production passenger car – the 260D
5. In 1886, Karl Benz was awarded a German patent for the invention of “the first automobile” known as the Motorwagen. Karl’s quest was actually financed by his wife, Bertha, but because she was a married woman, she was not allowed to apply for the patent.
6. Every Mercedes-Benz model carries disc brakes at all four wheels as standard equipment. Front and rear brake systems on all cars are separately activated; if one system somehow failed, the second would take over to stop you.
7. The steering system of your Mercedes-Benz carries its own- tiny built-in shock absorber, to cushion road shocks and damp them out before they can affect your hands on the steering wheel.
8. Prior to painting, every Mercedes Benz body is drowned in a 52-ton primer bath. This rich anti-corrosion coating seeps into every nook and cranny.
9. When the primer has been baked on, 25 pounds of permanent plasticized undercoating are sprayed on to the underside and wheel wells of every Mercedes-Benz. Another safeguard against rust.
10. The seats in the Mercedes-Benz cars were designed and shaped in consultation .with leading orthopedic physicians. These contoured, firmly upholstered seats envelop you-supporting vital kidney, back and knee-joint areas. Is that not awesome !!

I hope you enjoyed that guys ,is there anything you would like to add ?

AutosHonda Guys, Where Is The Party As Honda Builds 100 Millionth Car. by AutoJoshNG(op): 12:12pm On Dec 31, 2016
Not 1 million, not 10 million.. but 100 million cars. I am sure you agree this is a massive achievement from Honda.

BMW owners in Nigeria have been stealing the show with the BMW Club of Nigeria. Honda guys, where are you at?

This milestone calls for celebration considering the way Mini and Mclaren celebrated their 3 millionth and 10,000th cars respectively.

Carbuzz asked Honda which car was the 100 millionth, but was informed that it would be impossible to know because around 18,000 cars are built every day across several locations.

Honda currently builds over 5 million cars per year.. in 34 production facilities located on five continents. The company began production back in 1963 with the T360 mini-truck and the S500 sports car.

The president and CEO of Honda said, “Thanks to the support from our customers around the world, Honda was able to deliver 100 million automobiles.”
