How are you doing guys , hope you guys are being safe in this festive season?

The health of the tyres of a car is very important , if something goes wrong with the tyres,it might cause a major tragedy.

So what warning signs should you look out for to make sure you are safe and know when to change your tires ? .Some of them are quite popular , some aren’t .Lets find out .

1.Bulges
This is one you should NEVER ignore.It usually looks like a blister or “boil” on the tyre , this is a sure sign that you need to change your tires.

2.Tread Depth
The “lines” or “zig-zags”(the treads) on your tyres has to have enough depth to attain enough friction of the road ,especially for braking . The tread should never be less than 1/16th of an inch in depth,if it is or visibly very low ,you need to change your tires.

3.Cracks
Just like bulges don’t ignore cracks , no matter how small it is, change the tires as soon as possible.

4.Outer-edge Wear
Have you noticed the outer edges of your tires are too smooth , you need a change !!.The edges also has a roll to play in maintaining adequate amount of friction.

5.Wobbling
This can happen as a result of various defects , but your tyre is one of them .Do you often notice your car wobbling especially at low speeds ?, it might be your tyre .Get it checked and possibly replaced.

In Conclusion
Its always good to do regular check-ups on your tire to know when they need to be changed . I have seen people driving with very bald tires . Its not safe people .Stay safe !!!.

Ever wondered how the names , of cars were chosen .All those abbreviations you just don’t seem to understand like BMW(Be My Wife ).Its time to know the truth.I would be taking the veil of ignorance off your faces

1. Alfa Romeo
Formerly known as ALFA(Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili).The name changed when Nicola Romeo bought the company 1915.

2.Aston Martin
The name was coined from the founder’s name Lionel Martin,and the “Aston Hill” races (near Aston Clinton) where the company was founded.

3.Audi
The founder’s name is August Horch, so he formed the name of the company from the Latin translation of his German name “Horch”.Long story short Horch (German)=Audi(Latin).

4.BMW
Nope its not “Be My Wife”.Its Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Works).

5.Cadillac
Now owned by General Motors(they bought the original company in 1909).It was named after the 18th century French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, founder of Detroit, Michigan.Cadillac is a small town in the south of France.The original Cadillac company was founded in 1902.

6.Chevrolet
It was named after an auto racer and he was also a co-founder of the company,Louis Chevrolet(he is Swiss born).In 1917 General Motors acquired the original company.

7.Chrysler
The founder of the company stole the show here his name; Walter P. Chrysler .

8. Citroën
Not a very popular brand here in Nigeria.Its named after André-Gustave Citroën. He was born in 1878 and died in 1935.He was a French entrepreneur of Dutch descent. He was the fifth and last child of the Dutch Jewish diamond merchant Levie Citroën and Mazra Kleinmann of Warsaw,Poland.

9. Daewoo
The founder Kim Woo Chong named it “Daewoo”,which means “great house” or”great universe” in Korean.

10. Datsun
Originally called DAT.Coined from the initials of the financiers of the company Den, Aoyama and Takeuchi.After a while it was changed to DATSON to indicate a smaller version of their product (“son ” in Japanese can sometimes be translated as “loss” ).Its was later changed to DATSUN when Nissan acquired the company.What an evolution !!.

Cars of the future are already here without a doubt.We already have completely autonomous cars,semi -autonomous cars and funny enough flying cars(mostly prototypes) .The question on everyones mind is : What could possibly go wrong ? ,what could cause confusions ?.

1.HACKING

There is really no debate about this , there is sure going to be a lot of hacking in cars in the coming year.Most car manufacturers are starting to build self-driving cars which are fully controlled by software.As a programmer I have a rule I keep in mind always "whatever can be built by man can be infiltrated by another man,no system is completely guarded".

2.PROBLEM WITH THE LAW

There is going to be a whole lot of problem with the law.For example when a driverless car violates a traffic rule .Who would be blamed or prosecuted ,the car maker or the car user , or the car ? . I hope provisions are being made to handle such cases.

3.LIMITED QUALIFIED MECHANICS

Cars with such awesome technology are still evolving and getting better,so there are quite a limited number of people with adequate technical know-how to fix such cars .Especially in Nigeria where most of the mechanics lack the full technical know-how and appropriate equipment to diagnose and fix.

4.CONFUSED CARS

Yup !, another problem.What happens in the event of an impending accident.What decision does the car take , does it decide to drive into a wall or a pole .What if there is no wall but a river ,does it decide to take the risk of killing the occupant and saving the life of a crowd of people its about to drive into,or does it decide to save the occupant and kill innocent people.Confusion everywhere

5. EVEN MORE CONFUSION

What happens when a traffic light goes off ?.Latest autonomous and semi-autonomous cars depends on traffic lights using sensors to know when to stop and move at junctions .So imagine a traffic light goes off due to a malfunction ......the disaster...... which could be easily averted when a human is driving .....

Car theft is on the rise ,and it happens for different reasons and under different circumstances.I would be sharing some tips with you today on how you can reduce the chances of your car getting stolen.

1.Always Keep Track Of Your Keys
A lot of people leave their spare keys carelessly in one corner of their house or somewhere they think is “safe” in case they misplace their keys.What you don’t know is someone might be watching and monitoring you.Always keep your keys in a very safe place.

2.Remove Valuables From Your Car
Make it a rule to always remove “attractive items ” from your car .Leaving valuables in your car is a sure way to invite people to also steal your car and not just the valuables.If the thief decides to smash your glass for the valuable , he might decide to go all the way.

3.Always Lock Your Car
Even if you are just moving a feet away, always lock your car when you are not in it ,also lock it when you are in it.

4.Never Leave Your Car Unattended To
A lot of people make this mistake and leave their engines running , to pick up something in their boot/trunk.Some people are faster than you think , they can get in and drive off.

5.Park In A Safe Place
Always park your car in a safe, well lit place .Try as much as possible not to park in alleys or corners or any place with little or no visibility.

6.Install An Anti-Theft System
Try as much as you can to install an Anti-Theft system in your car ,its a good way to deter car thieves.

7.Don’t Drive In Unsafe Places At Night
As much as you can its better to limit your movement at night .In the event where you have to drive at night always take safe ,well lit roads .Preferably roads that are constantly patrolled by the police.
