Nigerians O Nigerians,my ever unique and mysterious people.Drop that hose you about to suck from and read this .

Though this is not common to only Nigerians ,we do it a lot ,even in situations that does not warrant it.So what if you mistakenly swallow fuel,what should you do ?.

Before I get into this ,know that swallowing fuel can cause various things including loss of vision.

Lets get right in !

1.Be Calm
When this happens be calm , don’t panic unnecessarily .Just be calm and go to where there is fresh air and take deep calm breaths.

2. Don’t Try To Induce Vomiting
Induced or forced vomiting can actually do more harm than good as they can cause harm to the lungs ,so don’t try to induce vomiting .

3.Take Water
Drink enough clean water ,don’t rush ,just do it calmly.Some doctors advice you should take juice.I would not advice Nigerians to take juice or any other beverage due to the recent confusion on drinks we should take and shouldn’t .One of them starts with “F” and another recently discovered starts with “L” .

Don’t drink milk or even alcohol just water would be fine.

4.Don’t Smoke Or Take Alcohol
Well, this is self explanatory except you want a mini nuclear apocalypse to take place .And this is not just immediately ,avoid it for as long as 72 hours if possible for longer.

5.Go To The Hospital
Just to be on a safe side ,get yourself checked and fixed up by a trained personnel as soon as possible.This is definitely not a time to take any “agbo” or see any herbalist.Go to a real hospital !.

Next time just use a siphon and not your mouth.

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria {SON}, in conjunction with the National Automotive Design and Development Council {NADDC}, has announced a mandatory reduction in the sulphur content of petroleum fuels available in the Nigerian market
The regulatory agencies have, therefore, directed that effective from July 1, 2017, diesel fuel {or automotive gas oil, AGO}, petroleum {premium motor spirit, PMS}, and household kerosene, sold to consumers must not have sulphur content exceeding the permissible level.

A statement issued by the Director-General and CEO of NADDC, Engr. Aminu Jalal, explained that SON took the measure in recognition of the fact that sulphur in fuels is as harmful to the environment as it is to the engines during combustion. “Sulphur in petroleum fuels results in vehicle exhaust emissions that have negative health and environmental impacts. Harmful emission-reducing technologies in vehicles also require low Sulphur fuels to be effective,” Jalal stated.

He said the decision was reached following consultations by SON with relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation {NNPC} and its subsidiary, the DPR {Department of Petroleum Resources}.

The Director-General disclosed that from July 1, all diesel fuel in the country should have maximum sulphur levels of 50 parts per million (ppm), while petrol should have maximum sulphur levels of 150 ppm. Household Kerosene (HHK), he added, must not exceed Sulphur levels of 150 ppm.

He explained further that petroleum fuels that have high sulphur levels generate directly high emission levels in automotive engines: “Such vehicle emissions contain high level of toxic pollutants, such as benzenes and particulates that have negative impacts on human health and on the environment. Technically, modern vehicles require fuels that meet high quality standards for a more efficient operation of their engines:

It is expected that all petroleum products imported into the country or refined locally from July 1, will have the prescribed low sulphur content.

At a press conference hosted by the New York International Auto Show, Bridgestone Corporation, and Autoneum, the MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS was declared the 2017 World Luxury Car.

This is the 3rd World Luxury Car win for Mercedes-Benz having captured today’s title, plus two back-to-back titles in 2015 (Mercedes-Benz S-Coupe) and 2014 (Mercedes-Benz S-Class).

Mercedes-Benz made history in 2015 with a triple win in three out of five categories: World Car of the Year (C-Class), World Luxury Car (S-Coupe) and the World Performance Car (AMG GT).

The company has also won two World Green Car awards: 2012 (S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY) and 2007 (Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec) in 2007.

This year’s winner was chosen from an initial entry list of nine prestigious cars from all over the world, then a short list of three finalists as announced in Geneva last month: the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Volvo S90 / V90.

Vehicles in all award categories are selected and voted on by an international jury panel comprised of 75 top-level automotive journalists from 23 countries around the world. Each juror was appointed by the World Car Steering Committee on the basis of his or her expertise, experience, credibility, and influence. Each juror typically drives and evaluates new vehicles on a regular basis as part of their professional work. Through their respective outlets they collectively reach an audience of many millions world-wide. The international accounting firm KPMG tabulates the jurors’ ballots.

Previous World Luxury Car winners were the BMW 7 Series (2016), the Mercedes-Benz S Coupé (2015) and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (2014). The award was first created in 2014 to acknowledge higher-priced premium models selling in more limited numbers worldwide.

As a pedestrian or another driver ,people often times get confused on what to do and what not to do.Here are 5 tips that would help decide what to do when an auto crash occurs.

1.Don’t Take Pictures
It’s actually sickening that the first thing people do when they witness an auto crash nowadays is to take a picture.You should’t do this ,at least not at first.

2.Call For Help
If its something minor ,like a side brush between two cars ,this might not be necessary.But if its something more serious the first thing you should do is to call for help.The Nigerian emergency number is 112.

3.Don’t Attempt To Bring The Victims Out
I know it might sound like I am speaking nonsense.But trying to rescue the victims can actually be doing more harm than good.

Except the vehicle is on fire ,or there is a fuel leak,dragging out the victims might actually cause more harm.They might have a broken bone,and moving them anyhow might lead to internal injuries.

Except you know what you are doing or its completely necessary,just wait for the trained personnel to come .

If you have to , do it gently and with caution.

4.Give Space For Emergency Services
Its also sad that when accidents happen ,people just surround the victims ,denying them of oxygen and restricting the access of trained people.Give way !.

5.Try To Help
If emergency services are yet to arrive ,you might be able to do something before they arrive.Somethings like CPR might help if the victim is unconscious.You can also help in conveying the victims to the hospital.Remember to do everything with caution and make sure you know what you are doing.

Some people still rugged the change of name issue and old tint permit. The chances of being disturbed within the state you reside is lower than when you embark on a long road trip. However, it is safer and more ideal to have your documents up to date.

Tint permit is one document which is always used to nail drivers at checkpoints.. Infact, it is a major asset to the officers on duty.

These 3 basic facts will come handy if you really need to process a tint permit:

You can use the permit for non factory tint (Nylon tint)
It is true that tint permit is only for factory tinted windows. However, you can still get the permit if you have reasons to use the nylon tint. All you need is a report from a Federal Medical Centre stating why you need protection from the sun rays e.g.. skin allergies, eye issues etc. With this medical report at hand, you will have zero delay at police checkpoints.

The Lagos state police command have arrested two men, Osaro Egbomrewen and Michael Eyeoekpe, in connection with the death of an Uber driver , Innevosa Emmanuel, who was strangled to death at the Ogba area of the state recently.

Parading the suspects before newsmen today, the state police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, said the suspects had posed as passengers and ordered for a taxi using the Uber application.

The deceased had arrived their location in Ikeja and was instructed to take them to their destination at Ogba, Oke-Ira.

During their trip, the suspects and one other who is currently at large, suddenly ordered the driver to make a U-turn and take them to Oremeji Street, Obawole area of Ogba, where he was strangled with a belt and his KIA RIO salon car marked KTU 594DM vehicle was taken away.

The suspects had planned to sell off the car to an unsuspecting buyer. However the police began to trail them and tracked the vehicle after a complain was laid of a missing Uber driver and his car.

One of the suspects who narrated how they carried out the act said

“I and Michael met at Ogba where I went to drink and we became friends. I told him how difficult things were for me that I needed to relocate to Benin to start all over again. It was at this point that Michael told me about a deal that could fetch me some money that we could get a car and then sell it to his boss. Michael then told me about one Alex (Emmanuel) who had a vehicle and we agreed to meet the following day.

Since then we had been meeting and discussing how to buy the vehicle. On the fateful day the Uber driver came, I was with Michael in his office and his friend Destiny was with him but I don’t know if he discussed the vehicle deal with Destiny. Around 9:30p.m, we called the Uber driver to come and pick us at Tantalizer eatery at Ogba. I and Destiny were inside the vehicle with the driver, but Michael was outside while I was holding the belt. Immediately I put the belt across the driver’s neck, Destiny dragged the belt and we strangled him.

When we were satisfied that he was dead, we took his corpse to Oremeji Street and dumped him in front of a church around 10:30 p.m., without anybody noticing us. After killing the driver, we took the vehicle to Michael’s boss to sell it. The buyer then inquired from us where we got the vehicle from and Michael told him that we killed the owner. The buyer then said we should take the car away and Michael said we should take it to his house and park it outside, before taking it to another buyer in Benin. Later we were tracked to Benin, arrested and brought back to Lagos”.

The state Commissioner of Police said they would soon be charged to court.

Convoy driving is driving in a company of two or more vehicles from same starting point, maintaining same speed and heading to the same destination. It is a highly demanding exercise requiring experience and discipline.

1.BLUR
Battle to the end with loads of tracks ,cars etc.Customize your cars to your taste with power ups and build the perfect car.I really enjoyed this one .I particularly like the multi-player feature which doesn’t need internet to work,which is very useful here in Nigeria where internet is really slow and sometimes expensive.You can just connect with another PC that has the game installed over a LAN network to play with a friend. Autonomous cars !!.Its been a while I have talked about self-driving or autonomous cars .Today I would be talking about some things that needs to be in place before self -driving cars come to Nigeria.

1.The Law
Obviously there has to be a law,to guide the operations of this type of vehicle.How ,when,and in what region it should operate ,under what conditions.The list is endless .

2.Better Roads
Yeah , we need better roads !.No one would want to have such beautiful technology wrecked as a result of bad roads.

3.Improved and Well Planned Road Networks
While having good roads is one thing ,having good and well planned road networks is another thing.Good enough Lagos state is considerably at the top of their game in this aspect.But some areas are still lagging behind.

4.Well Trained Auto Engineers
Auto Engineers have to beef up their knowledge and skills because it won’t be business as usual.No one would want to take an autonomous car to Wasiu to mess things up.

5.Fully Functional Traffic Lights
We don’t want to hear of complains anymore that traffic lights are not working because there is no fuel !. The government needs to get their affairs in order regarding this .The traffic lights aid autonomous cars to know when to stop and move at roundabouts and junctions.

6.Improved Cyber Security
Nigeria still has a long way to go when it comes to cyber security .Driverless cars are considerable susceptible to hacking and it would be a very big target.The cyber security level in Nigeria has to be increased.

7.Law Enforcement Agencies
Well these guys and their behaviors is of very huge concern .They have to be trained on how to stop harassing car owners for no reason .And possibly their checkpoints have to be concentrated at traffic lights and tollgates. Because autonomous cars are no respecters of men in black.

Rust is a big issue for some people .Especially older model cars ,since newer versions have made some improvement in rust prevention.That does not rule out the possibility of rusting taking place.

Rusting is a chemical reaction ,this also means once its done its done ,no going back.You can only prevent further damage.

So how can one prevent rusts on your car ,lets get enlightened.

1. Wash Regularly
Yeah, you have to keep your car clean always at regular intervals .This eliminates to a considerable level the possibility of rust.Just make sure you don’t over do it .

2.Don’t Scrub Too Hard
Scrubbing the body of your car to hard ,or with sharp objects can cause problems.

The paint on your car helps lock out moisture,from coming in contact with the metal,so when you scrub too hard leaving some tiny openings ,rusts can start from there.

3.Cover Up Opening and Scratches
Got bashed or scratched by a Danfo driver ?,cover it up with paint as soon as you can .Just like I said above it takes a little scratch for rust to start.

4. Stay Away From Salty Water/Sand
So you and your friends want to hang out at the beach ,and blast music as you do so ?,not a bad idea.But keep your car away,because salt and salty water aids rusting at a very fast rate.

5.Don’t Ignore The Tyre Area
The body of your car surrounding your tyre ,is very prone to rust especially if you are aways going through a muddy and waterlogged area.So make sure you always remove sand and mud while washing .Also take note of scratches and little rusts to prevent it from getting worse.
