Billiebaba: Is there a way of checking it without a scope and without removing the valve cover To check without removing valve cover you need a scope sir. Best way to confirm timing is via a scope. |

Billiebaba: Good evening boss, I was working on a car today Corolla 2009 with a 2zr engine. Before accident, the car was starting fine without problems. During the course of repairs engine had to be removed. After the repairs engine was replaced everything was put back in place except for the airbags they were yet to be replaced because of funds. Here is the problem, I have spark, fuel, compression, at times it will do as if it wanna start but it won't start after a very long crank. No fault codes present In the Powertrain ECU. I'm just stuck as I don't know what to do, though the engine sat outside the car for about a week. Confirm timing is correct... Presence of air, fuel and spark at wrong time, d engine will never run. Let us start with confirming ignition timing is correct. If timing is correct , then lets check the sensors responsible for letting the computer know when to fire the ignition and injectors... These are the Cam and Crank sensors... Confirm they work as they should |

Fostercat: Hello Car gurus,
My corolla 2010 is showing VSC on the dash board and the check engine light came up. The car suddenly is consuming too much fuel. What can I do ? I need help First thing is to scan... Afterwards provide the codes here so we can help with further diagnosis. Also i do not think the vsc has anything to do with your fuel consumption except if it has to do with a faulty EVAP system. Because usually a fault in any of the emission system triggers the VSC light on with the CEL. There might be something else causing it which might also be revealed in the scan result... |

Rocice: I meant that I've fixed the ECU Its a new one now I scanned it today and the error codes are mass airflow and TPS error codes Ok. Now i get it. My advice is this, somtyms a dirty or faulty MAF sensor makes the ECU think the throttle is faulty. In some other cases it is the other wat round. So kindly diagnose wc of these components is faulty.... But my mind dey tell me say na dt MAF dey cause dis whole wahala. B4 anything sha... Try clean your throttle body first. Dt shldnt cost u anything. Do dt n let's see what happens. |

temi4fash: It's an Honda city 2007 comes with 7speed mode. Only at this particular gear, when it get to 60 - 80 km/h P0700 is the other code but I hear is just telling us it's a transmission issue There is a switch called the torque converter clutch switch. The PCM uses it to monitor the transmission. If the switch, wiring is faulty it can cause this problems. Find a competent tech who can test/diagnose the switch and also d wiring |

nutripotherbals: Nigerian used of that car is 800,000- you can get plenty of them very clean too in Abuja and Lagos.
Do not pay more than N900K for 08 CIVIC used in Nigeria.
Don't do it! seconded |

Ofemmanu1: Boss, I want to change my Honda Accord 2007 gear oil cos it's brownish and it's drying up (not up to gauge) I got to a shop and I found out there are two types. the fake N3,500 and original N18,000 respectively. The cheaper is cool for me considering the economy but I'm afraid it may damage my gear.
Please write back sir. wrong thread. you can reach him via his repair thread |

As stated time and time again by ppl here, that civic is too expensive for that price. Though its a lovely car. Much finer interior compared to the corolla/yaris. Very Excellent fuel economy too. However Personally i wouldn't spend more than 800k on that vehicle. Once U buy it, u loose alot of value. Put it back on d market and see how ppl will price it. If u have 1 million sir pls do try n get a clean corolla. Dey hold more value better than that civic. Except if u dey fear thief sha o. Bt even at 1 million, that vehicle is too expensive. Same model was advertised recently in auto section for abt 700k or so. Brown color very clean interior. Sold fast tho. Not sure d thread lasted more than 2 days dt it was sold. Happy decision making |

Monkeyprick: Please take Ford & Mazda out of those cars if you don't want to loose your sanity. They're beauty to behold with eye catching interiors but when their electrical problems start, you'll hate yourself. i strongly disagree with this. Electrical problems are not the issue. Every single car has electrical problems. However i must admit some vehicles show less problems compared to others. I believe Finding a technician that understands how these systems work, correctly diagnosing the issue and fixing it correclty is the problem. Although i must still confess some cars are sent from hell but still i dont subscribe to the believe that certain brands make bad products while others dont. Thats false. |
