I'm just looking for how to stop the plugs from getting black before getting the cathalics fixed.
I don't think the engine is weak because I use acc sometimes but I've stopped using it.
thermostat is present because I complained to my mechanic about hard start in the morning sometimes. he unplugged the thermostat and fixed it back. pls I just bought it 2 weeks ago

yes. I have scanned it. it says airflow meter as the man said. but I took the car to Aba and tried almost 7 of it but getting home yesterday, the car was not firing, plugs are very black..

YOUR ENGINE MIGHT BE WEAK THEREBY REQUIRING ALOT OF FUEL TO COMPENSATE FOR WEAK COMPRESSION.
HOWEVER, IS IT ONLY THE AIR FLOW METER FAULT THAT WAS STORED?
CAN YOU CONFIRM THE O2 SENSORS ARE STILL GOOD?
WHATS THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR COOLING SYSTEM? IS IT STILL WORKING AS IT SHOULD, THERMOSTAT STILL PRESENT OR ABSENT?
FANS RUNNING DIRECTLY?
ALSO IS IT ALL THE PLUGS THAT ARE BLACK OR JUST SOME?

TEST DRIVE... ON A LONG STRETCH OF ROAD.
INSPECT THE WIRINGS/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
VISUALLY INSPECT THE ENGINE, UNDER-CARRIAGE, LISTEN TO ENGINE FOR ANY ABNORMAL NOISE, ALSO WHILE TEST DRIVING PAY ATTENTION TO HOW WELL THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS.

My AC suddenly stopped working. (Compressor doesn't pick). When connected directly, it will start working so the AC technician told me it's an electrical fault. I took it to a Rewire guy who suggested I buy a new fuse box which I did and same problem persists. Please if you know what the likely cause may be, kindly help.

IF IT CHILLS INSIDE WHILE THE COMPRESSOR ROLLS, THEN WE CAN ASSUME IT MIGHT JUST BE AN ELECTRCAL FAULT AMONG OTHERS THINGS. HOWEVER IF IT DOESNT CHILL WHILE THE COMPRESSOR IS WORKING, THEN IT IS SOMETHING ELSE... MINGHT BE LOW GAS ETC. KINDLY CONFIRM YOU HAVE ENOUGH GAS IN THE SYSTEM

Wow... Thats interesting. So how it traced to the rear lights? Cuz mehn shorts are very difficult to trace o...regardless happy U got it resolved. And it didnt cause any serious damage to the vehicle. Such things could burn the car up o... No be joke.

That Toyota model, is fitted with [b]bend avoidance collusion sensor[/b]s. Hence reduction in speed...

Have it scanned, to be on the safe side.......

A 2012 hyundai was brought to the today. The car has a serious vibration and inability to not idle unless you step on the throttle pedal. According to him, Previous mechanic have changed the four spark plugs, swapped the ignition coils and serviced the injector nozzles. On second check, cylinder 1 was just soaking fuel.

I scanned the car with following codes. Surprisingly No code pointing exclusively to cylinder 1.

The previous mechanic have removed a lot of connectors while the car was running. I had to clear the code to see which comes back.

Live data stream shows throttle position sensor was at 0% with the leg of the throttle pedal

I managed to drive the car a little one pending code came back
P0011 '= A' Camshaft
Position Timing Over-Advanced
Or System Performance Bank 1


I decided to check the compression on the four cylinder. Surprisingly cylinder one has zero compression


What must has likely gone wrong in cylinder 1?

I'm yet to open the engine. Customer has asked to discontinue the repair while he source for funds.

In addition dont forget to fix TPS fault. As this will affect your diagnosis is the PCM doesn't know the position of the throttle opening.
Also Check the Operation of injector for cylinder one.
Confirm its not stuck open probably a short causing it to constantly spray fuel there-by causing cylinder wash which will the result in worn piston ring/wall.
If its not the above, since you have confirmed low
to no compression on cylinder one, next is to find out if its a compression leak to crankcase or via a broken valve seal.

acceleration seems sluggish also vehicle revs loud when you try to accelerate quickly.
I gave local Kazeem to look at he says it's kick down sensor but I'm not convinced.
Please possible solution.

P0341: CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR INCORRECT PHASE DETECTED.

FROM THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR TIMING.
IT HAS NOTHING TO WITH KICK DOWN SENSOR OR WHATEVER IT IS CALLED.
YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR TIMING
1. TIMING CHAIN. IS IT STRETCHED OR JUMOED TOOTH?
2. INTAKE CAMSHAFT. INSPECT CAREFULLY. IS IT WORN?
3. INTAKE CAM SENSOR AND ITS WIRING.
4. CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND WIRING
5. VTC OIL SOLENOID
6. VTC ACTUATOR
7. FINALLY THE PCM (SINCE IT IS INVOLVED IN VARYING THE TIMING)

YOUR PROBLEMS LIES IN ANY ONE OR MORE OF THESE COMPONENTS.

my Honda civic 06 drinks fuel like shark in an ocean. worthy to mention is I recently changed the catalyst converter and also bought a new exhaust pot. the mechanic confirmed my 02 sensor in good shape when carrying out the replacement. but the fuel consumption is still very high. the last time I scanned the vehicle I had two codes which had to do with engine coolant temperature circuit low and a faulty transmission. I have had the transmission rebuilt by an expert which has not giving me any cause for worry in the meantime. what could be the possible cause of this high fuel consumption

Have you fixed the engine coolant temperature issue? If not your engine is running in open loop. That is the PCM is not correcting fuel injection, rather it is constantly running in open loop since the PCM does not know if the engine is running at operating temperature or not. Kindly fix the engine coolant temperature issue and lets move from there. But I strongly believe thats the cause of your problem.

To better ascertain this claim sir, we need to know exactly what temperature the engine is at when the needle goes above the halfway mark. You might think it is higher, however it might actually still be within spec.
However, have U tried washing or cleaning your condenser? Lets see how the engine responds.

I remembered my mechanic once mentioned the number 1 fault to me but he didn't say anything else about it.
Sir what do you think one can do to correct the fault and the heater sensor code p0031

Check/test the above-mentioned parts.
Check the sensor and its wiring. Ensure they are good. That way we can assume the signal from sensor to PCM is good.
Next test the oil control valve. Is it clicking properly when supplied with power and ground?
Test the resistance of the solenoid ensure its within manufacturer spec. If not replace.
Next you might have to open the valve cover to check the timing. Does it align? Check the timing chain. Is it stretched?

Also what oil do you service you engine with?
Also not forgetting the heater code is the least of your worries.

The oil was drained completely. The gear was washed inside and outside using a brush. It was mounted back and gear oil replaced.

Well at this point... I dont trust the work that was done on the gear.
However,
1. Is the transmission oil well guaged?
2. Can U confirm the electrical aspect of the transmission is in good order?
3. If the above r all good, then d problem might be on the mechanical side

Good day sir, I'm having issues with my Nissan Altima 2002 transmission (auto transmission). After moving for like 15 minutes the gear will stop selecting. If I park and switch off the engine and wait for like one hour and start the car the gear will select and work perfectly for like 15 minutes and will stop selecting. My mechanic doesn't really know what is wrong with the gear. He brought one gear mechanic, the gear mechanic couldn't pinpoint what is wrong with the gear.

But one thing I noticed is that I started having this problem after changing the engine. I wasn't having this problem with the former engine. The former engine was smoking that's why I changed it. The gear was brought down, washed thoroughly and serviced when the engine was changed. Since then I have been having this problem of the gear not selecting after working for like 15 minutes

I'll be glad if you can tell me what is wrong and way out!

My Toyota Highlander v6 2004 misfire when driving. I scanned it to know the problem. These codes p0031(heater control circuit low bank1 sensor 1 ), pending p0016 and p0018 (crankshaft/camshaft position correlation bank1&2 sensor A), p0660(intake manifold turning valve control circuit/open bank 1&2) and undefined code p1660 only came out.
Can any of these results to the car misfiring? Can it be transmission problem?
What do you think I should do to resolve the situation?

The main cause of your misfire is the P0016 & P0018.
You need to diagnose the cause of the non- correlation of both sensors. Focusing on the VVT system wc consists of the brainbox, the Oil control valve and VVT controller.
Possible causes of these codes:
1. Stretched chain/timing belt jumped tooth
2. Faulty sensor/ sensor wiring
3. Faulty computer (rarely)
4. Weak Oil Control Valve
5. Bad VVT controller.


These are among other things.
So carefully diagnose each of these one after the other and rule the out.

And NO IT IS NOT A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.

I have the following issues on my accord 2008

1.Hard starting
2. Misfiring

Scanning the vehicle, I got the P0339 code (crankshaft sensor). I have changed this sensor twice and reset the ECU but after a while, the code comes back.

Occasionally, the vehicle fails to start until I erase codes (that still come back).

My rewire is saying that the brain box has issues.

What are your thoughts guys...

1. Kindly confirm your location
2. Is that the only code stored?
3. How long does it take for the code to come back?
4. Before the code comes back, does the engine run smooth without any problems?


From my little research the problem seems t be intermittent. Meaning it doesn't occur Everytime.
This might be an electrical fault on the CKP circuit. And since you say you have changed the sensor twice (assuming the sensors you got were good ones), we can then rule out bad sensor fault .
I will recommend you check the wiring of the CKP from the sensor to the PCM. If the wiring is good, then you can proceed to checking the PCM.
However being an intermittent fault, my money us on a wire problem. Most likely making partial contact at certain times and then causing the misfire and hard starting.

Since you got a transmission fault. That means your TCM has a stored fault.
Firs thing is to scan your transmission control module and every other module. Write down the fault codes and paste here. Let's start with that.
