To all my sisters who prayed & are still praying - the Lord has answered!

I had my baby girl late wednesday night after a whole day of labor & complications which resulted in an emergency C-section. I'll be back to tell the full story but make una help me thank God. She weighed 7.8pds with a full head of long curly hair(that def didnt come from me lol) and is in perfect health. I'm still in the hospital for another day or 2. I will be back with a full report once we get home & settle in. Thanks again to ALL of you for the kind words & prayers, you're all the best.

Dudugirl, my sister thanks for checking on me oh...our baby is still not here yet, 8 days past EDD now. As of today I am 4cm dilated and still just plenty of regular braxton hicks contractions (having one right now self). I go in again in 2 days and will decide from there if an induction is necessary. Pls continue keep us in your prayers. Thanks a bunch sis. And how is your little madam these days? hope all is well. Godbless!
Around the time - same week - this thread was started, I accompanied a friend to her first check-up after confirmation of pregnancy. She was 6 weeks along. I actually thought I had shared that here, with the caveat that the post was not about me, but a friend. Since I can't find my post, I must have gotten busy and forgotten to post my message.

I found out last night that things did not end well. I had exchanged only one e-mail with my friend since the check-up and had not spoken to her on the phone since. I knew in the back of my mind, she complications might develop since she had previously had issues, but her announcing to family and some friends while we were still at the doctor's led me to think she was safe this time. Also, I was preoccupied with my own problems, and simply waited on her to contact me if she needed me - afterall, out of all her family and friends, I was the one she asked to come along on this important and anxiety-ridden day. Little did I know. . .

I called to check on her last night and got an email directing me to her 'diary' (blog, which I hadn't read in a couple of months) since she is too upset to talk. Needless to say, it was a hard read. I felt bad for her. I have messaged her asking why she didn't simply call me so she wouldn't have had to go alone to all the follow-up medical check-ups that she was frightened so of. She will fill me in later.

The below link is my friend's blog. She is a real person. I hope her heartbreaking story helps or educates others.

http://www.thenotsorealhousewife.com/2012/06/month-of-may.html
Very tough. Heartbreaking stuff...the decision to terminate must be heart wrenching, I cannot imagine. As Agiboma once said to one of her patients who lost a child, it may not take away the pain or console her, but the fact she has 3 children already is a great blessing.

Hello to all my sisters in the house. May God continue to watch over us all.

Diamondlove how body now? hope morning sickness is fading into the past. Corral, hope yours is better too.

@thread,
I am still waiting, 4 days past my due date now ...Dudugirl thank you oh. You were right. I was unsure cos the contractions (I've now been feeling them regularly past few days) feel completely different from the menstrual like cramps - they're both coming & going, I guess they're both 'related'. I'm seeing my doc/doing an ultrasound in an hour to check on the baby & amniotic fluid and hopefully its encouraging news.....

CONGRATS MAMA MIRACLE!!! smiley Recruitment may this new bundle of joy bring you and your family immense joy and favor in the right of God & man. It is well with you and your household by God's grace. Congrats again on the delivery. May God be praised smiley.

@all,
Been up & down few weeks. My due date was yesterday and now just patiently waiting for this LO to come out. Not really having 'practice contractions' per se, but lots of menstrual like cramps. I see the doc later this week and if nothing by then i'll be induced. Fingers crossed and so so excited to finally have this journey be over.

teewai27: Hi ladies. I dunno how I ended up in the ER yesterday but found myself there being treated for dehydration. The highlight of the experience was seeing my baby through the ultrasound dancing and moving around like no mans business! For that reason alone im prepared to suffer thru this period. Hang in there moms. We will all rejoice.
Sorry oh sister...dehydration, the result of wicked morning sickness. It shall be well with you. Glad the ultrasound gave you plenty of inspiration smiley I cried when I first heard my baby's heartbeat at 12wks, recorded the sound on my cellphone so I could play it whenever I needed a lift. God will give you the strength to carry that gem. Amen!

mogbomoya: Ok House,
I want to rant!
I have 11 weeks and 4 days to go and just want it all to be over. Feel like a beached whale, I can't find anything comfortable to wear apart from my new size 16 - 18 jammies (was a size uk 12 before) Work is a nightmare as there is nothing that i can wear that looks both smart and comfortable ( 1 work in an office) I'm hating feeling restricted in what I can and can't do, it amazing how you take the simple things like putting on a pair shoes, scrubbing ur feet, shaving ur below.. for granted My feet. legs and ankles for the last week have now decided to do impersonations of tree trunks which is so uncomfortable!! Love getting home at the end of the day, dinner, shower, jammies on and then in bed.
My tommy is so tight tht I feel I wld burst any moment, the thot tht I wld grow bigger scares me. My nose has trippled in size.
I am almost turning bulimic cos nothing I eat goes down, so I have to force myself to throw up so as to feel more comfortable.

I wish these last weeks can fly past!
Lol. So so feel you. This is time for hubby to pull extra duty. I get him to help me put on my clothes, stand up from the couch, pick up items from the ground, even to turn over in bed ... it is well ehn, be encouraged girl! rants help us keep our sanity and before you know it it'll be 40weeks smiley. About forcing yourself to throw up - try not to (easier said than done becos I know I did it too) becos the baby needs the nourishment as do you, are you eating smaller amounts of food? it feels more comfortable as it takes forever to digest. Stay strong sis! soon you'll be looking back & laughing when you're holding your baby smiley. Godbless!

As for me, 38wks and trying to 'enjoy' the finals days of pregnancy. None of my shoes fit anymore as my feet are swollen, na only slippers I dey wear now, I have about 2-3 tops that still fit over my tummy and I cannot find the lining of my underwear as my belly is so big and spills over the front lol. 2 more weeks... I hope this baby doesn't hang around past my due date oh...it won't be funny lol

Hello to all my sisters and new mothers. Hope everyone is doing great smiley.
Thanks for the response, saw the doctor but he didnt see it as a big deal.
so was hoping to get advise from pple who has been there.
It is not that bad but it keeps coming back.
is there any therapy without the use of drugs.
I too had terrible migraines/headaches from ~4months till ~6.5mths and at one point it wasn't just daily, it would strike several times a day, bad enough you cannot even think lol. Infact my doctor had told me to expect it that it was common going into the 2nd tri to experience headaches so I was prepared. I was prescribed tylenol but I didn't take it because I didn't want to take any pills unless I absolutely had to. And please oh sister, aspirin containing ibuprofen is not safe for pregnant women, make sure the ones you're taking are acetaminophen - prescribed by your doctor not self-medicated.

also, how do pregnant mum cope with sex during pregnancy.
the urge is just not there.
dont know how to explain to hubby.
God help me!
Lol. Every couple is different my dear. I was so sick during the first tri that sex was the last thing on both our minds. 2nd tri and onward got much better and since my stomach has become such a huge interference (38wks now) lol, sex has become once in a while. There are plenty of articles online about pregnancy & sex, try getting him to read some. Its always helpful for them to hear it from a professional source.

eeyaa Diamondlove getting some tough love from the sisters smiley. mogbomoya thanks for providing some perspective to us all. To be honest, that thought was one that helped me push thru my own MS pain. And even now with all the pain & discomfort, I read/listen to the stories of ladies like recruitmnt and I just shut up and remember that other ppl are going thru much worse and to just be thankful.
Diamondlove, my sister, this too shall pass! Many of us have been there and can testify to that. This temporary 'suffering' is preparing us to be strong mothers. I honestly believe going thru all that pain has made me a better & stronger person - especially mentally. Remember trials come to make us strong.

Agiboma, how body now? Glad all is well at the clinic.

As for me, I'm doing fine. Darn near impossible to walk or even turn over in bed because the baby's head is down and pressing against my bone there. Its way more painful than I think any other symptom so far. I shed a bit of tears last night of joy & pain lol, the baby was moving SO MUCH! 36wks+ and its still finding room to twist & turn and kick every single organ I have lol. Issall good though...few more weeks smiley

And to all my sisters/mothers-to-be, May God bless and keep us all by His Grace! Amen and amen!

BIG Congrats to Luvlee! May that little life God has blessed you with bring you & your family great joy. Amen!

Smilenw, I second the other ladies. In regards to dates everything is just an estimate. 2 weeks off is really not a biggie especially if you're fine and not having any problems. It is well my sister.

mightlove: @avatur: i worked until the day i had my baby. My mat leave was to start on a monday, a day before my EDD, i had him on the friday prior to that monday,i.e. My last day in the office and 4 days to my EDD. I went from the office cos labour started as soon as i got to the office in the morning. It just felt like menstrual cramps and gradually increased in intensity but was very bearable compared to when i was induced. Cldnt stay so hubby took me to d hospital and on our way, my water broke, by the time i got to the hospital in the space of less than 2 hrs, i was 6cm dilated. But that was where it stopped oh. I was induced was couldnt progress so i had an emergency CS.anyway, the long and short is that God was merciful to mean and my son. I was obviously not wide enough for a first baby of his size. He weighed 4.1kg at birth.
All the while, he never engaged but i didnt understand the implication. The frequent urge to urinate that women feel towards their EDD was never experienced by me but i didnt know since i had never been there before. Anyway, make i end am for here. Let me reserve space for my next birth story, which i believe is coming soon.

This one na birth story 2 years after, lol. Make una no mind me oh.
Lol. 2 years is not old oh lol. Thanks for sharing your labor story. Its so interesting how every woman's own is different.

osikhueme, sweettweet & blank thanks for the replies about maternity leave. I guess it boils down to how you're feeling. I'm thinking of going till a week before my due date, that means I'll be working the next 3 weeks. I think I can push more but my husband no go gree lol.

Blank, a cold for 4 mths? wow oh dear, please take care ehn. I pray it passes sooner than later.

recruitmnt: In hospital, on admission. Diagnoses - malaria 2+ . This is the 3rd time am treating malaria in d past 4 weeks. Trust me, mosquitoes never bite me. I drink only Eva water, I eat healthy... I dunno again cry cry. I've been vomiting. God is on the throne, I will rejoice in due time IJN

P.S. using chloroquine injection this time. I think I've grown a resistance to every other drug
My sister so sorry to hear this. It shall be well by the grace of God. He who brought you this far and through so much will see you through the end. Your testimony will be an encouragement to millions around the world, AMEN!!! But what can possibly be causing the recurrence of the malaria? that is so strange. Did the docs give you any ideas?
and thanks for the bday wishes sister smiley.

Teewai, how are you doing?
HealthRe: Pregnancy Are You Pregnant Or Going Through A High Risk Pregnancy,,lets Talk by avatur: 4:29pm On May 15, 2012
My sisters, I greet all of una well well. Hope everyone's doing fine including agiboma, recruitment, diamondlove and others.

Teewai27, congrats! & sorry you've been initiated into the 'morning sickness' club. Everything you've described is 100% 'normal' and much more. If you have time try to read through the thread, there's plenty of great information on other people's experiences.

@thread,
I'm in my 36th week now...doing okay for the most part. I've been battling a nasty cold the past week so its been a bit rough especially as you can't take any medication to help. Celebrated my birthday yesterday smiley on the couch with a blanket, vicks, kleenex & ice-packs & a towel lol. Has anyone else had the joint pain in their hands towards the end? in the wrist & fingers? mostly worst in the mornings, waking up to a 'frozen' hand that actually cracks when you try to move it.

Another question, for those who've been there before, how long did you continue to work before your due date?

I see dat has been d fear from d onset, Its dat fear dat has been makin me go thru a lot, how do I conquer dis fear
Cryin seriously
That is actually very normal and is a good sign your body is working hard to prepare for your baby. It will slow down a bit later. Before pregnancy my resting heart rate was ~50-60, after getting pg, its consistently over 100bpm. They say a pregnant woman's HR can be compared to a non-pregnant woman running a race! Stay strong girl.

recruitmnt: I'm really worried, hoping that my baby weighs a well because I've practically spent more time in hospital than out of it.

About the carbonated drinks, in my 1st trimester, I could only eat boiled eggs and sprite. My doctor actually told me to take it easy on the sprite esp when I started bleeding at 13 weeks (threatened abortion). By I was still secretly taking in small amounts cos I felt I would die if I didn't. Am not saying you should do the same oh, but confirm from your gynae, if it makes you feel better and you don't have any other predisposing factors that make it dangerous to your body, he might let you take it.

Hmmmn, a bit of my own story..will share it fully when I deliver. I've been on bedrest since 13 weeks, my waters broke and I developed an infection, was told the only chance I had was to terminate, developed preterm labor. Leakage stopped, had cerclage...was transferred from hospital to hospital till I found the one that accepted me. My consultant and all the other docs still call me mama miracle. In all his years of practice he said he hasn't seen a case like mine. I am indeed a miracle. Still on bedresr right now, and my maid that has been helping me said she's leaving tomorrow. I don't know how ill cope but God that has brought me this far will see me to the end IJN.

Btw, I had a previous loss at 24weeks in the UK, spent some time with my boy but he sadly passed on. It is well IJN! I will testify, that I know...Just wanted to rant a bit cos atimes everythn just gets a bit too much for me to bear alone.
wow. You ladies are really my heroes. When I hear stories like these it makes me just shut up over my relatively tiny complaints. My sister God is your strength and He who brought you this far will see you through to the end. We will wait to hear the joyful story of your delivery by the grace of God and whatever pain you have endured, may God turn it into boundless joy. It is well with you mama miracle! cheesy

The result showed ++ for malaria parasite and I have typhoid too! So am treating malaria for the 8th time now. I feel soo sick. God is on the throne.
Oh mehn, so sorry to hear that sad. I know pregnancy makes one more susceptible to infections but anyway you can find out why this is recurring? your surroundings?

diamondlove: yes oo
i got outta d house and ppl were lookin at dis cream chic, got 2 d office 2 and every sayin, u look so diff 2day

bt i feel lyk quittin my job, tho nt stressful, bt comin everyday seems tiring, yh my boss understands bt i dont want 2 use d advantage of bein his favourite and skip work
bt i think i rili do nid lots of rest

Been there sis. You want to do absolutely nothing but sleep and its tough to focus at work. Can you discuss with your boss to see if you can arrange a reduced or more flexible schedule? Since you have a good boss I'm sure they'll be understanding. You can show him/her a note from your doctor about how sick you've been if it'll help. Goodluck!

Lol@ Diamondlove feeling 'sexy' smiley nothin do you jare, make sure you enjoy it now cos when that stomach expands to where mine is now, sexy is not the first feeling you'll be having cheesy lol. Glad you're doing better. The headaches will come and go just like everything else - it is well! I used to wrap my head in a towel with ice (didn't want to take any pills) and it helped a lot. Cheers!

blank: I have used Bio-oil for the past 2 years constantly. I still have stretch marks and itch badly. I buy from Shoprite or Spar.
so sorry you're itching so badly. I did some research on creams and reseachers say it helps some women and not others - in general they say creams don't even work at all, that it depends on genetics. I just pray you feel better. The episodes that I have are not all the time so I can only imagine how stressful it is for you. We will keep you in our prayers, it shall be well with you sister!

recruitmnt: Am going for a malaria test and will ask for a full blood count. Pls is there any other test I shld do

oknee: I am tired of being pregnant. Due date wz 29th and up till nw, there s no contraction. Why, why, why. Induction is so painful, wouldnt want to go through such pain again. This is my 3rd preg and it wz only in d first dt contraction started normally after a day past d EDD. End preg wz induced and nw this one wil most likely go d same way. My sis said maybe d first child probably left some lolipop inside d tommy dt makes d others refuse coming out on their own(lol)
Men...this is one of my worries. To go past the due date and still no show.

@ALL, when will contractions start to happen as you approach the due date? I had some braxton hicks a while ago (last was at ~6mths I think) but nothing for a while. I feel as tho I should start having a couple here and there as I have just 6 weeks to go.

mogbomoya: I had bitter kola during my 1st trimester and it was fine. It really helped me. I did a lot research on it. It does not have as much caffine as the kolanut.
Really, everything should be in moderation. One piece usually lasted me for a week. Just cut off a bit and pop into the side of ur mouth. You don't have to chew it. Just suck it.

2nd trimester is wonderful! At a point (Btw 15 weeks - 18 weeks), I thot I was not pregnant again, cos I hard no symptom. From 19 weeks, I started feeling the flutters which has grown to mild kicks now. I had round ligament pain but that is tolerable.

Am doing great, except for the occasional feet swelling which happens in the evenings when I have to stand and cook. My face has also sooooooo totally changed!

Stay strong diamond love.
Lol. Kai! you're lucky oh, my baby has not let me forget for one single moment of one single day that he/she is down there cheesy. I have been a walking symptom poster child, even my doc jokes about it cos I always have something new to complain about lol.

lady j u: I did a pregnancy test yesterday and it showed positive. I'm 4 or 5 weeks gone. I did ultrasound that showed that I have cyst also. I'm so scared. I was asked to come back 2 weeks time but I want to see another gynachologist today to see what he will also say.
Congratulations sister smiley. I hope the cyst does not present any complications for you. Please take very good care of yourself and the angel you're carrying.

Diamondlove,
I join the other ladies in praying for strength for you. I know how utterly miserable I was during that time and it lasted till 6months (I pray urs ends much much sooner than that smiley ). Truth is only time will ease your discomfort...find an activity, hobby or something that helps to take your mind of it - to me that was the most useful thing I tried. I would watch my favorite shows (entire season re-runs), hang out with my friends till very late to kill time, reading a captivating book etc etc .... these helped as there was absolutely NOTHING that I could keep down for days at a time. I know it consumes you completely, but trust me, it'll be better if you try not to dwell on it. The mental aspect is also a big part of it.

recruitmnt: ^^ if its itching on your bump due to the stretching of the belly, then I heard lots of moisturizing usually helps. Heard 'Ori' ( don't know the name in English ) is effective. I don't know about itching all over the body tho..
thanks recruitment. The itching is all over my body and mostly at night. I currently use Cocoa butter on my tummy (to ward off stretchies) & all over in general. I asked my doc and she said there was no remedy, it will flare up with the hormones sad. And after reading how bad sister Blank itches, wow, that is serious oh. I read some forums online, some ladies said taking very cold showers & then moisturizing immediately helped... I've tried it but it doesn't always work.

Diamondlove,
hope you're feeling better. I was told coke and other carbonated drinks are fine - in moderation. Pregnant women are adivsed to limit their intake of caffeine not stop outright. The last time I had coke was @2.5mths (I was trying any and everything to see what would help then), it had the opposite effect and aggravated my suffering, took more than 2 days for it to go thru my system. lol. Since then I've been scared of it lol.

Bitter kola....hmm, didn't know that @Efemena. Because the fetus is much more vulnerable during the 1st tri if one is not sure about the effect of something its better to simply leave it out.

@all,
anybody have any remedies they use to help manage itching all over the body? any creams or lotions or drinks or ___?? It usually comes at night, couple times a week and is a nuisance. Thanks.

bolseas: Hello Agiboma,

Thank you for creatng this thread. I have been following this thread for some time and have read from pages 0-15.
all this while i nevere knew that i am pregnant. i went for confirmatiion yesterday and got a POSITIVE. EDD is in December 2012 by God's Grace.

My husband is not with me here in Abuja, he is in Lagos. Using the Kathyekiti thread, i used it to calculate my ovulation period and fixed my leave for that period. so here i am with a little one inside me. I read somewhere that even if one make love during one's ovulation, one may not get pregnant. i used prayers to support mine and God is faithful to me.

God bless those of you who shared their stories for others to learn from and the creators of these threads.

I hope to continue to follow the thread and ask a few questions like when to start going for antenatal, what vitamins to be taking (i have been taking folic acid since Nov 2011....been TTC for about 10months), what to eat and what not to eat.

very warm regards.
Congratulations sister! and welcome to the club lol. I pray you have a smooth and successful pregnancy. Amen! I started taking pre-natal vitamins (the generic ones with a whole list of vitamins including folic) from about week 5 once I found out I was carrying and started routine doctor visits from week 12. Here (boston) visits were once a month (as long as there was no problem/complication) until the 3rd trimester then its every 2weeks and then weekly as the due date approaches.

cuteruth: Gudmorning, pls what can I do to stop dis constant Headache. My Head aches seriously, I am in my 20th week now, went for antenatal on tuesday n wen I complained to the doctor he gave me 3 tablets of Malaria drugs n told me to use it at once and some paracetamols, I used them bt I am not relieved yet, Pls What can I do?
I also suffered terrible migraines for about 2 months (btw months 4-6.5). My doctor told me to expect them as it was common during the 2nd tri so I was prepared. I was prescribed tylenol PM but I refused to take any (I'm just adverse to taking any pills unless I absolutely have to).

I found relief by wrapping my head in ice using a towel and lying down, sometimes cutting out all noise and light. It was temporary but enough to relive the pain. I hope you feel better!

Ib: Ladies, do you think being pregnant in naija is harder than being abroad? Ive observed that more ladies complain of headaches, extreme nausea, high bp and other ailments. Is that the case or am i being silly. I know that woman abroad go thru difficulties in pregnancies...im not naive but it seems that in naija, its even more stressful.
Its subjective I think. Just simply due to the incredible medical facilities and care available abroad, pregnancy is bound to be better cared for for most women. Naija is full of stress. lol. No power, no peace, no quiet, traffic etc etc more stress makes for a more difficult pregnancy.

I spent months 3-4 of my pregnancy in africa, the last 2 weeks of it in Nigeria and while it was fun, I could see how it would've been a whole lot more difficult especially if one has difficulties/complications with the pregnancy. I was suffering from severe MS when I travelled - threw up the entire flight, the flight attendants felt so sorry for me lol. But once I landed in Africa, the warm air, the smiling faces, the beautiful peaceful serene beaches, the delicious food... while I was still constantly sick, I definitely benefitted from the change in environment. I think all pregnant women should be flown to a private island to simply relax in a peaceful environment while being taken care of by their partners cheesy

agiboma: @Avatur, things are great today we saw a woman she had high bp prior to pregnancy, she should have been 9 weeks pregnant but the baby died in her womb, so she was having a miscarriage. What I am going to say now may sound mean, but she already has a few kids and I think that should console her. The medications she is on is not working to control the bp as it is still very very high. When the sonographer told me the baby was dead i thought to myself this is the best thing that could have happen to this woman please dont get me wrong. The last woman i know that had hypertension prior to pregnancy was going into heart failure at 12 weeks gestation she manage to hold on till 28 weeks when they finally delivered her little girl. This woman was taking 64 pills a day to stay alive and prevent her heart from shutting down. Now she was in the UK so that is why her and baby are alive today. But i am afraid this is not available in Nigeria. For this woman i dont think she should chance it again just enjoy the 4 lovely kids she already has. This blood pressure and pregnancy is a serious thing and people just dont take it as such and they really should. For me its a topic that is all to personal and close to my heart. wink. What would you tell this woman? Do you think my assumptions are to harsh?
Honestly, I don't think I could do/say any better than you have. You're definitely right her pain will not be as strong as someone who doesn't have any kids, but I bet it'll hurt just as much sad at least I think that's how I'd feel. But as it was a threat to her health in the big picture it seems 'better' that the baby passed. 4 kids is already an incredible blessing no question. After I'm done with #3 by God's grace, my husband & I plan to adopt our last child. So many children already in the world that need parents.

Keep up the good work sister and I mean it, pls give us regular updates/stories so we can all learn and possibly use to teach others. Godbless!

recruitmnt: Thank you, mine is just like that.
Yeah its pretty normal and expected as it turns out. The weight of all that goodness in ur tummy will surely have an effect smiley. I find it worst when I sit on the couch and lie a bit to the side, I can barely walk when I get up after that, so painful.

@Agiboma, thanks snr sister! you're really a godsend for all the good work and encouragement you give on this thread. Pls give us brief updates on how things are at the clinic anytime smiley.

mogbomoya: I have a confession!

I have not been taking my vitamins oh. But I eat well. All least 4 servings of fresh fruits and green vegetables everyday. I take skimmed milk for the calcium.

Baby is doing well so far. I just can't stand the drugs.
Lol. I feel you sister. I have tried to be religious in taking the pills, I hate them too but I keep reminding myself that its not for me wink. The vitamins are a sure-fire way to ensure you're not missing anything. I do forget tho and miss a day here n there.

Are night mares normal?
Lol. As others have said, very normal. I've lost count. Even my husband self has had a couple weird ones. The last one he had, we all wanted to see the baby so bad so we simply opened my stomach (like a door) and took the baby out, then put it back in when we were done! cheesy freaky stuff.

Nellyd: Thnx my sister. My doc said 1 yr but dats really far. But i'll hv to wait cos its getting to 5 months now. Thnx.
Try to hold on some more months then dear. If you get pregnant again too soon it may put both you and the baby at risk. Give your body some time to heal and strengthen again so that it can be ready when you conceive. I know this is easier said than done, but by the grace of God it shall be well with you and you will be sharing your story of success with us in the near future. Amen.

recruitmnt: ^ do you feel any pain in or around the cervix? Been complaining about this pain and he says it's a normal occurrence in the 3rd trimester. Is this true? (btw, I have a cerclage in)
Nothing more than the usual sciatic nerve thing (the one that results from the pressure from the fetus on a nerve) it affects the lower back, butt and thighs. Its pretty painful ESP when you've been sitting for a while and then stand up. See this link http://m.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/symptoms-and-solutions/sciatica.

afdman: @avatur please go to the hospital and check your bp, first thing tomorrow morning, while your at it also check your protein level in ur urine. Nothing to panic about, just to rule out any issues. Also how long have ur leg, face and hand been swollen.
My bro thank very much. Your story really moved me and has brought plenty of awareness here on NL. May GOd bless u for being such a wonderful & caring husband.

My swollen hands & feet are not nearly as severe as those preecamplsia symptoms, its just the regular swelling seen in pretty much most pregnancies in the 3rd tri. I've been regularly seeing the doc including regular urine & BP tests and by God's grace all is well. Thanks!

@topic,
I'm rolling on 33weeks now...the painful swollen hands & feet is not fun, though hearing the extreme cases in the pre-eclampsia stories make me swallow my small pain. Continuing to count down the weeks with eager anticipation smiley. I wish all the expecting mamas a good week ahead.

agiboma: Hi all
@Avatur about the clinic its a Diagnostic clinic where we do scan(s), bloodwork, counselling, ecg.ekg fetal/maternal monitoring etc. As far as i know where the only clinic really going a step further to help high risk moms. I flew in machines from Canada the same one's the hospital in Canada use in their high risk unit, I truely hope this makes other centers do the same so women in Nigeria can receive the same type of care western hospitals give their patients are @ least something close to that level. In a few months we are also gonna add the dialysis component to the center, its gonna be a place where people can receive dialysis for a affordable price our hope is to never turn anyone away if they dont have money. so thats all about the clinic.
wow! You are a hero. I praise the good Lord in heaven for people like you who give of themselves to benefit others without asking for anything in return. May God strengthen you in this endeavor and make it fruitful beyond your wildest dreams. Amen!

Nellyd: @Agiboma, really wanna thnk u for starting up dis very important topic. All thanks to God for keeping me alive today. In my 29 weeks of pregnancy, i startd hving incresd blood pressure. At a point d doc said d best option wz to remove d baby thru cs since d bp continued goin up even after medication. D baby died d nxt day. During d period,my legs, hands nd face were all swollen cos of excess fluid. But i thank God am alive cos a nebo of mine went thru same but did not come out alive. My fellow women, once u hv an increasd bp during pregnancy, rush to d hospital. If u'a admitted, dont say no cos its a very delicate case. My question is: how long shud i wait b44 takin in again? I wudnt want to go thru cs again. And its been 4 months nw,wat exercises can i be doin cos i addede a lot of weight? Wish all d pregnant women safe delivery. God bless u all. recruitmnt: Hehehehehe, welcome to my world tongue
Lol. Its all our worlds cheesy. I can't wait to return to a regular human being lol.

I'll ask for mist mag at my next appt. I have hemorroids aswell . Yes, I have the gas too...I'll ask for mist mag at my next appt.. Pls I like pepper, is this safe for baby?
Gosh, I hate those! embarassed extremely hazardous to ones mental health. I don't believe spicy foods have any negative effect on the pregnancy, its about what your body can handle and won't send you running for the bathroom. I enjoy spicy food myself but have definitely paced myself thruout more because of tummy troubles than anything else. It was certainly bad eating anything spicy when I was going thru terrible morning sickness but relatively fine now.

agiboma: Hi all,

After not doing much for a few months being in Nigeria, I got bored so I'm Sorry for my hiatus I been real busy setting up a Clinic in PH, doing what i do best wink. Lots have happened on the thread cheesy
Oh wow, cool. Can you share a little bit about that?

@demmy I am sorry to hear your news, the heartbeat "should be heard by 7 weeks" so @ nine weeks you should be hearing it, but please get a secound opinion as i have herd stories about no heartbeat in an ultrasound then you go back for another one and the baby is fine.
100% true. At 12 weeks the nurse tried fruitlessly & couldn't find my babys heartbeat. We got worried, but after the doctor spent a good amount of time searching they finally found it. Demmy go for a second check before you worry yourself.

@avatuer i also suffer from Insomnia and so does my hubby, lol most nights where all awake together
Lol. This is hilarious lol cheesy

Diamondlove, try taking the pill you were given, was it one of the anti-nausea ones? some women swear it saved their lives lol. I was prescribed mine after 3mths so I can't say it worked for me but it might for you.

...lemme try reposting and hope it doesn't delete the post again.
