Poe interview

Arrived los Angeles and was directed to the automated machine. Filled in my details and was cleared to pick up my baggage..at the exit, met a cbp officer and questions as follows

How long are you staying
Me: 12 weeks
Do you have food
Me: yes
What and What
Me: dried fish and cray fish
Ok
Stamps my passport and says I'm free to go.
End of story

My dear, as long as your intentions are right from the start, one should approach the POE with confidence. I've not read here where anyone was turned back for saying the truth right from visa application.
The only person I know that was turned back at POE didn't inform the VO that she was pregnant during interview. She also never mentioned it to the CBP officer that stamped her in. She was noticed by some random officer who just noticed her bulge on her way to agric and started asking her questions. By the way, she had no dr/hospital correspondence cos she didn't plan to declare. That is how she was put on the next flight back and banned for 10years.

Well I recently heard of a woman who was turned back at L.A. airport. Reason is that the hospital quote she gave to the cbp officer was too low. She had her first child at the same hospital a d paid 5500. Was on her way to have the second one at the same hospital. They said there was no way a package could be that cheap. That she must have used medic aid or a governme t assisted package. And she asked them to confirm from the hospital they refused. She was immediately turned back. That's the story I heard. I don't know of there are other reasons to it that she didn't state.

For those who want to schedule appointments and are not getting favourable dates, just keep refreshing the page. As at yesterday, the earliest date was 28th of December. This morning 3rd of January. Few minutes later, it changed to 13th of December. I won't be surprised if it changes again. Just keep refreshing

to be candid, rejection rate was so high... people's documents were not even assessed... I can't pinpoint what went wrong apart from maybe my basic pay was kinda low but I have other source of income which I was not even asked about... DW is due by March ending, should we reapply, or she reapply alone.? veterans, come in and advise oooo

You said it your self. It could be because your basic pay was low and that was why the VO asked you if that was your major source of income. You could have simply added the other means of income you have. He probably isn't convinced that with your pay, you can afford the childbirth expenses. You can reapply but you have to be able to demonstrate that the other means of income you have are legitimate with proof

Many of you here keep looking at this issue from me me and we we point of view but forgetting that it cost a lot to main a website like nairaland.

People are still allowed to mention hospital they used and its up to an individual to contact that hospital for more inquiries, this thread is not only about hospitals and bills we share more important info here from individuals experiences to VO who comes in here from time to time to clear things up.

All i'm saying is that don't advertise hospital deals here because it will stop those adverting the same product from paying for ad here.

I have tried to strike a balance, i don't delete post because they mentioned a hospital name even when such post is reported, post i delete are those advertising deals directly or indirectly and making recommendations.

I ask you again..how will you feel paying for something while others are getting it for free?

Okay. I think I understand you. We can still mention hospitals we used and price breakdown. But direct or indirect advert is prohibited. If that's the case, then this has always been the case now. Nothing new.

Wow...I cant believe I sat through 4 hours reading through this entire thread to get more information about giving birth in the USA.

Now that I am done....my head is "bursting"...lol.

After waiting 7 years, I and my "madam" are expecting our first baby in January 2018 (through CS - I know this due to previous medical history) and we are looking to give birth in Maryland (that's where we have families).

We both have British Passport (which means we can visit the US from the UK for up to 3 months without applying for a Visa - Although we do need to fill out an Esta Form to notify the US Border Control We are coming).

Has anyone on this thread gone through this route before?

To be honest, I am not keen on giving birth in America (as I know the baby will get a British Citizen and the hospital fees is free in the UK as We pay national insurance for this already).

But "madam" really wants to do this, and I am happy to make it happen (I am so excited...will finally be a dad!)

I did some research myself, and found Mercy Medical Centre (who won't take wifey at 35 weeks when I called to enquire). John Hopkins Hospital is astronomical in prices and a few others I rang personally ranged in prices between $10,000 - $15,000.

Will be ringing a few others e.g. Holy cross next week Monday to get more information too...

Has anyone used any hospital in the Maryland area that is affordable? Please "help a brother".

Type hospitals in Maryland in the search button here. You will find names of different hospitals in the M.D. area that readers here have used. I posted here a list of hospitals in Maryland and their prices about two years ago. If you search here, I'm sure you will still come across the file. I no longer have the list on my phone.

You are asking people to do their own research and complaining about people are flooding cheap hospitals mentioned here but at the same time you are mentioning cheap ones you saw online.

I said the in part or two that people should do their own research and stop recycling one hospital else they will increase their prices.

Many people reading this thread are agents looking out for such info to give to their clients for a huge fees.

I can authoritatively tell you the price was reviewed to discourage Nigerians.
There is hardly space in the L and D ward. You cannot get an appt, agents flooded there with their clients. The workers could barely breathe. It became a disaster. If you know my moniker you will know you are in no position to correct me regarding this issue.

Hmmm. I can totally relate with this. In 2015 when I wanted to have my baby in Maryland, came here and there was hardly any cheap hospital in that axis. Everyone said Maryland is expensive, it's no go area. Off course, they were all saying the truth. I travelled down there and with the help of my aunt , we were able to get a cheap deal at a nearby hospital. Came here and shared all the details, I got mails from people which I happily replied sharing every details. Even became good friends with some who later used the hospital. and till date we are still good friends. The issue is that the number of ghost readers here who ended up using the hospital and doctor was enormous, some even told the doctors that their sister from Nigeria recommended him. Well it was all good. Not until recently I heard the same hospital has reviewed their prices upward. I called my contact there and she confirmed same, they no longer give discounts as it was before. Now I am hospital hunting again for a there in Sacramento. So sad. There are so many maternity packages for self pay patients in different states in the US. People need to do more research, don't just wait on what is posted here alone. We have so many cheap hospitals that has not been discovered yet. Let's use Google and not just rely on hospitals shared on this platform alone.

Good day all, I'm looking for hospitals in the Sacramento area of California. All the research I've done, are all on the high side. 15k upward. Is there anyone who has idea of something cheaper or a nearby city to Sacramento with a less expensive package. I would appreciate any help I can get.

There are so many good baby shops in surulere. Lots of them on akerele, don't know the names. There's another one at ogunlana drive. There's a babiesrus at akerele too and adeniran ogunsanya. There's one very popular one beside Havana hospital at akerele. They sell very good stuffs

Can she do Virginia. Quite close to Maryland. Had my baby in Virginia but stayed in Maryland. Clinton precisely. Distance was about 20mins drive. If she can't, then she can check put PG hospital Maryland. Not as expensive as the other Maryland hospitals. That's about the cheapest as far as Maryland is concerned.

When I called the hospital I was told my bill has been sent to collection but I can still pay the hospital directly. You get?

Hello all, pls I have a question on behalf of a friend who had her baby December last year. She paid all bills but left without paying the epidural which was billed separately. So she said she called them last week to pay up the bill amounting to about 1500dollars. They told her they no longer have the bill as it's been sent to the debt collectors. She called the debt collectors and was able to pay uo on that day. They said they will send a receipt to her via email. Now her worry is that, she doesn't know if the fact that the bill was sent to d debt collectors will cause problems for her at poe or when ever she wants to renewher visa despite the fact that she has paid it off. I told her I will seek for opinions here
