Infact global meltdown is a plus for BOM traders because you just have click BUY when the trend is falling.

USD/JPY, US 500 Index, US Composite Index, Wall Street Index and other will FALL like they did today.

By the way, Obama just addressed the Americans on Bloomberg TV not to lose hope over the Jobs Report.

The world is freezing!!! China's PMI (Purchasing Managers Index) is down, Europe is in trauma and America just joined the bandwagon. embarassed

Emerging economies is the way to go now. Expect foreign investments in Nigeria very soon.

fxbomovi: who says Betonmarket is better than forex trading?

I trade both but I will go for forex any day any time if I am asked to make a choice.

You can make more than double your risk on forex on a single trade; but that is not possible on Betonmarket.

but both are good business if you do it right.
^ I beg to differ.
BOM has lower susceptibility to loss compared to FOREX because you already have a preview of what is really going to happen before you place your bet.
One thing people should know is that in any online trading, the NUMBER 1 precaution is risk management followed closely by maximizing profit. BOM exalts risk management than FOREX although FOREX has more profit. If one is really good with fundamental and technical analyses, you'd could win as much as you want.

Plus any BOM newbie trader should be able to make double his capital today after the release of the US unemployment reports. But not all FOREX newbies will make such profits.

Thanks.

BusinessRe: First Bank Nigeria Holding Company: Formerly First Bank Group by ayox2003: 5:16pm On Jun 01, 2012
segunjowo: First Bank Group To Change Name. Why?

Is this re-branding?
Shareholders please take note:

The management of Nigeria’s leading financial institution, First Bank Group has announced plans to change the bank’s identity to First Bank Nigeria Holding Company.

This is coming after receiving all the approvals from its shareholders and executives to effect the re-branding.

This was one of the major highlights that formed the agenda of the bank’s 43rd Annual General Meeting held in Lagos, where the bank’s performance and business operations for 2011 were presented to shareholders.

According to the bank’s management, the full implementation of the transition to First Bank Nigeria Holding Company will be completed by the second half of 2012.

The restructuring of the bank is in response to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s directive regarding divestment of non- banking subsidiaries from deposit money banks.

This (hammer) technique could also be used with indicators like Moving Average and so on. This methods of analyzing the market is called TECHNICAL ANALYSIS while using news about the market is called FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS.
Pappy does more of fundaeantal analysis and it helps aswell.

I hope we move to the next candlestick technique next week.
Drop ALL questions HERE for all to see and I'll definitely attend to them.

Sukiyo/Sagapo.

BONUS: An hammer just showed on the Wall Street Index.
BusinessRe: Betonmarket Alerts by ayox2003: 3:19pm On Jun 01, 2012
So how do you place your bets using Hammers?

1) Dont stake more than 10% of your capital
2) Check the larger view of the market by clicking 6h, 12h, 1d, 2day to see a clearer view of the previous trend.
3)Check through the market that interests you.
4)Choose the one you could see an hammer. Atimes you might not see but it appears in ALL markets.
4)Look at the bottom of the chart to see what each candlestick represents. In the picture above, each candlestick represents 5mins as you can see in the diagram. It represents 5mins because I clicked the 6h tab on top of the graph. 6h shows 5mins for each candlestick, 12h shows 10mins, 1day shows 30mins and so on.
5)From the instruction 4, you can then place your bet based on the duration of time that best applies to you.

In the diagram above, I placed 3 different bets this way this morning:
Hammer 1: EUR/USD will fall in the next 5mins
Hammer 2: EUR/USD will rise in the next 5mins
Hammer 3: EUR/USD will rise in the next 5mins......and i won them all.

I did this because I knew the next candlestick represents 5mins. For those doing hourly or intradays trading, I strongly recommend that they check 5d because each candlestick there represents 1hr.

PS: You can practice this over the weekend with the virtual account before you go live.

Sukiyo/Sagapo.

BusinessRe: Betonmarket Alerts by ayox2003: 3:07pm On Jun 01, 2012
Today, I want to introduce us to a candlestick called the HAMMER. This candlestick is called the hammer because it has a long tail/wick and a small head. The Hammer appears when the buyers or the seller are exhausted and there is a LIKELY change in the trend. Atimes the change dont last long but its worth it if judiciously used. Looking at the picture below, you'd see the three hammers (Hammer1,2 and 3) on the EUR/USD chart. Those hammers appeared when the market wanted to change its direction. Lets assume a red hammer appears on your chart, IT MOST LIKELY next candlestick is green. Conversely, when a green hammer appears on the market, ITS MOST LIKELY a red hammer follows it. Sometimes when the market has been moving up, and a hammer appears, REGARDLESS OF THE COLOUR, the market is LIKELY to move down and vice-versa.

Therefore when you see a red hammer, know that the market is likely to rise. And when you see the green hammer, know that the market is likely to fall.

Hi all,
I promised last week that I'd give a tutorial on the candlesticks. I have been able to make a short but explanatory note here.
Straight to the point:

Candlesticks are the images that shows the trend of the market. By trend, I mean the movement of the market in a given period of time. If one looks very well at those images, it looks like a candlestick with a wick/wool at the top and sometimes at the top and at the bottom. Am I making sense?
Red candlestciks on BOM signifies that the number of SELLers are more that the number of sellers at that particular time while GREEN means the number of BUYers are more that the number of sellers. Candlestick can be used as indicator to predict if the market is going to rise or fall. When somany people are buying a goods or in the buying zone, the price is going to be high and that is why the price keeps going up.Hence, green candlestick appears. When somany people are selling a goods or in the selling zone, the price becomes lower because they need more buyers. Hence, RED goes down.

I think global economic meltdown is about to occur, again!!

These unemployment rate in the US increased by 8%. That means only 69,000 jobs were created in May compared to 275,000 in January. The worst so far!

You cant just make decisions and expect people who elected you to swallow it all up!
Do you think Lagos is a dumping ground. Even Fashola retraced his steps with the Doctors.
GEJ is a slow learner. After trying the subsidy removal thingy and Lagosians protested, he thought they would accept immortalising MKO by renaming UNILAG.

He's just insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

Read this:

The University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) has warned the Federal Government over its plan to rename their alma mater after the late Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu. The association rather prefers the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to be named after the late Ikemba.

Rising from its 21st Biennial Convention and 78th NEC meeting, the association called on the Federal Government to shelve the plan, saying government should name Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) after him since the late Ojukwu was one of the first students of the institution. According to UNAA, it subscribes to the idea of immortalising the late patriot, but government should rather rename the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) after Ojukwu. In a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting held in Kaduna during the weekend, it stated: “We mourn with heavy heart the demise of the first university graduate of the Nigerian army, elder statesman and patriot, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and call for immortalisation of his name by naming the Nigerian Defence Academy, among others after him”
