4) The US market seems to be a VERY big factor that affects other markets. Do I take it that when it is up, others are up and vice versa?
4)No. The US currency cannot fly up as it likes. The economy drives it. If the economy is good and more people are employed, then more investors can come in because employed individuals would be able to pay for goods and services. The US is a world player and if her economy crumbles, it doesn't mean others would. But it would affect others negatively. Cos Americans wont be able to buy good imported from Asia and Europe. Therefore slow growth would be recorded in those countries.

3) What is the relationship between the current position of a country's index, its stock and the currency pairs on FOREX. That is how are they related and affected with news?
3)The basic idea is that, when a country's stock market index rises, the confidence in that country grows as well, leading to an inflow of funds from foreign investors. This makes the foreign investors demand for the country's currency before they can do business in the country, making the currency to be stronger versus other foreign currencies.
Contrary-wise, when a country's stock market index market falls, confidence in the country's economy falls, causing investors to convert their invested funds back into their own local currencies
All markets(indices and Forex) are affected by the news and reports. If the report is good, the market flourishes and if not, the market shrinks.

2) What exactly make up the index of each country and is there a platform to take the average. Eg if there are 5 main things that make up a country's index but while 2 are down, 3 are up. Is there a kind of platform that helps measure that so the average can be taken to come to a conclusion as to where the index will go from there, whether north or south?
2)So-many things make-up the index of each country. First off, indices are a collection different stock markets of different companies. If you want a clearer understanding of what index means, picture this: The DOW Jones is a collection of the 30 largest Companies in the US. Companies on the Dow Jones include Microsoft, Chevron, Coca-Cola, WalMart, Bank of America, Exxon Mobil and so on. Each Company has its share price on the stock market. The Dow Jones index is the summation of all those prices divided by a divisor.

Note:The Divisor used to be 30(like calculating an arithmetic average) but its not anymore. Its have been changed so that it wont look like a simple arithmetic. Plus, the changes was needed because of the fluctuations in market price and dividends of each company.

Will like to ask some questions here. I will really appreciate the explanations and I am sure it will help in our fundamental analysis of the market.
1) When you say a country's index is high, does it automatically means that its stock is low?
1)No. Whenever the country's stock market index is high, it doesn't mean the stocks are low. It means the economy of that country is booming and that people are buying that stock because they believe in the company. Just like your Nike snickers, it keeps selling because people love the brand and even when the prices increase, people still buy buy buy!!! For instance, if the Dow Jones Industrial Average of the US is high, I means the industrial economy of the US is good for investment and people are buying the shares of the companies in Dow Jones. Don't sweat about Dow Jones. I'll explain more in my subsequent answer.

NOte: The three main indices in the US are NASDAQ, Dow Jones Industrial Average, S and P 500.

RomanceRe: Your Top 5 Priorities Before Selecting A Husband/Wife by ayox2003:
ogugua88: I don't believe in envisioning a fairy tale partner. The one quality I ask is for someone to love/respect me for who I am. And that's about it. Simple and to the point. Do you know how many women list characters for men and dump men because they don't possess 100% of the qualities they desire? Those women remain unmarried. Then, area NL boys will run to Nairaland, complaining of spinsters and reminding them that their biological clock is ticking.

The world is not black and white, but gray. You can list qualities from here to jericho. Someone who possesses any one of those qualities is flawed just like everyone else. The question is, can you deal with those flaws?

Yes, life throws punches, but I expect punches, because such is life. Those who are in lala land, awaiting Prince Nnamdi and Princess Omotola are usually blindsided. What fate has in store for you is hardly ever what one wished for. Expect the unexpected.

You cannot choose to date me. You can wish to date me and I can then choose to reject you smiley lol.
True, but you cant just love someone forthwith. Honestly, I dont think ONE quality of love/respect is enough. Although you cant get all what u want in your partner, I think some qualities must be present. Og, love grows and some qualities must be present to sustain such growth. I'm not including beauty and wealth in the 'qualities' but basic characteristics of the person. Trust, honesty, industry, thoughtfulness are not toomuch qualities one must look for when choosing a life partner. I may sound archaic but the best relationships are those that started from friendship. Just like a pebble thrown into the pond, the circle enlarges itself till you finally accept the person for who he/she is. What if someone loves and respects me but she is from "Lazytown"? A lazy lover? I bet the love would not last a decade. Therefore, I still maintain that we choose want we want in a person we really wanna settle down with.
By the way, if you've got what I want, and I've got what u want(love/respect) why would u reject me? Lol.
Lest I forget, there is this quote I heard somewhere that I'd like to share. It says: Love is blind but marriage is will open its eye. Lol.smiley

ogugua88: ^^^ Hehehe, I love a realist. Life is easier when you lower your standards and take what life throws at you. If you like it, then fine. If not, then move on until the next best thing happens (if it chooses to happen that is).
Og, I believe that humanbeings are made in their essential capacities to act and not to be acted upon. We all have choices and we can choose what we want from our lives. Manyatimes life throw punches at us but we are left to choose how we react to them.
When it comes to choosing a life partner, choose the qualities you would want to see in you partner and position yourself for such a person by working on your own character, too. Pls dont lower your standards for anything.
Do you know I can choose to date you? Lolz.

The US ISM reports from May just came out and the reports show that there is an increase from 53.5% in April to 53.7% in May.

A monthly ISM index released by the Institute of Supply Management tracks the amount of manufacturing activity that occurred in the previous month. This data is considered a very important and trusted economic measure. If the index has a value below 50, due to a decrease in activity, it tends to indicate an economic recession, especially if the trend continues over several months. A value substantially above 50 likely indicates a time of economic growth. The values for the index can be between 0 and 100.

This means the US indices would soar high today.

blank: The video was so funny. Women always think they can get away with slapping a man. Did you see her girly slap and then the guy's own caught her full in the face. Even a man, would have found that slap very painful.
Morale of the story: do not slap if you do not expect to be slapped in return.

As you can see, BBA saw her slap him and also disqualified her.

Guys and girls, please do not hit yourselves. Fighting is not civil at all.
Best comment so far!!!
TV/MoviesRe: DKB And Zainab Disqualified From BBA Stargame by ayox2003: 11:07am On Jun 05, 2012
The true of the matter is that: DKB did the wrong thing but some ladies just need to learn their lessons the hardway. If DKB had not done it on BBA, some guy would have done it off-air and we wouldnt have known about it. But now, the sting is gonna stay long with her.
TV/MoviesRe: DKB And Zainab Disqualified From BBA Stargame by ayox2003: 11:03am On Jun 05, 2012
hauwabd: When DKB fought with Prezzo, why didn't he slap him? He can't get physical with men only women. Mumu comedian! He just commited career suicide! She provoked him, so? Couldn't he walk away as he did with Prezzo? He is just an uncouth male with absolutely no regards for women bragging about cuchie(pussy) all the time and saying things that women belong only in the kitchen! He had argued and fought with all the women in the house, even Goldie, why him? Is he the only man in the house? I watched and hoped he would be booted out soon and luckily, he helped out faster than I thought. Why was he upset sef, when he was always on about how big his dick was, I guess Zainab got curious!
Was Prezzo as garrulous as Zainab? For chrissake Zainab has been too b!tchy since day 1. Seydou would be happy wherever he is, rightnow.
TV/MoviesRe: DKB And Zainab Disqualified From BBA Stargame by ayox2003: 11:00am On Jun 05, 2012
spicyhoney: The slap was long over due, it could have been from anyone and DKB just happened to be the one to serve it to her. She has a nasty and bitchy attitude and has been causing trouble long before she got the slap. I don't support violence but as humans, there's a limit one can be pushed. What she did was wrong, she should have just apologised or better still, she should have moved away from him when she knows she was still going to insult him, she dared him and he responded. Zainab is a Karen wannabe, but she took it too far. Being gangster on a TV show doesnt mean you should be mannerless.
Thats just it.

nanidee: OMG... I want to believe people are taking the piss on here undecided. Are people really supporting the guy?...Small wonder some Africans choose to remain backward.

I really dont care what it was the lady said to him to provoke him, but the fact is that he is a totally violent man. I had to watch the video, and just seeing a man slap a woman like that really sent chills down my spine.

Whenever I am in Nigeria, I hear lots of stories about how some men treat their women, I even saw sometime ago on facebook, that a guy beat his girlfriend to death in the Lekki area of Lagos Nigeria. I marvel and wish these men try that in civilized countries. angry angry angry angry

I did not even notice any slap that she supposedly gave him. All I saw was a girl running her mouth, and a guy push her, and then slap her. The way he kept going on and on about how she should'nt try whatever it was she did, really showed that he is an aggressive man, the kind of guy that women should be wary of.

DAYUUUMMM!!! That guy is one hell of an angry bastard. He really has got serious issues. (maybe he's got a tiny little willie.......). He needs to go for anger management classes! Looser!! angry
Some guy would have deposited a back-hand slap in your cheeks for those statements.

Kobojunkie: First get your head checked. What Northerner ruled with absolute peace? Have you forgotten already the problems with MEND that sent world oil prices to record highs back in 2008? Have you forgotten the Boko Haram scourge really started back in 2008/2009?

Honestly, you only reveal the level of ignorance you are working with when you suggest that these attacks are against one ethnic group of another. The whole nation was crippled when MEND attacked in their own land(how many northerners were killed). Boko Haram is today attacking people in Hausa land(you cannot compare the number of northern victims so far to those of other ethnicity), and the whole Nation, not one or two ethnic groups out there, is in panic. What does that tell you? Probably that you need to get your head out of your arse so you can really see that this is beyond ethnicity.
God bless you! Nigerians have failed to seperate distractions from destiny. As if MEND didnt cause chaos during Yaradua's regime.
Lets learn to remove sentiments from national issues. If it were to be in another country, GEJ would have resigned or be impeached. He claims to know the criminals but he cant bring them to book. GEJ promised security during his campaign but what do we have now?
Is BH stronger than the 920billion allocation for security?

It gets me when people make-up excuses for GEJ. Did we vote for those terrorist and their sponsors? Over 20,000 people have died and insecurity and corruption is at its peak. Some are empathizing with Goodluck saying the Northerners wanna crush his government. Cant he crush them too? So its Nigerians that should die, right? Same people will vote for him come 2015 when the bombs will eventually hit their homes.

azpekuliar: Hi, Kindly recall your tip on 'hammers' while trading indices yesterday. Do you use also the charts available on BOM website? Can they be relied on for proper trend indentification?
I use BOM platforrm. Thats why I uploaded those JPEGs yesterday.
Note:
1)They can be used when they form Hammers. It must look like the ones I uploaded.
2)There must be a defined movement on the chart. I mean, the trend must be going up or down. Never trade with hammers when the trend is not defined
3)Get enough news as the market might change anytime.
