bilms:Very good questions asked. Its true indeed. I am actually afraid i ll go the wrong way after the month of Ramadan. Allah please give us the blessing to do more good deeds and stay away from sinning even after Ramadan. Ameen |
Thanx for the prompt reply mukina. |
Zakat Al Fitr is obligatory zakat which should be given in the month of Ramadan (this should not be confused with Zakat al Maal which is the one which is given from the earnings through out the year). It is related that Ibn 'Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, made zakat al-Fitr obligatory for the Muslims - slave and free, male and female, young and old, being a sa' of dates or a sa' of barley. He commanded that it be paid before people went out to the prayer." WHO is obliged to pay Zakat al Fitr? Every Muslims who have the amount of Zakat al fitr, after fulfilling all his needs should pay Zakat al Fitr. Those who are in financial difficulty and does not have anything left after his needs is not obliged to pay. WHEN is it given? The time starts when the sun sets on the last day of Ramadan and it should be given BEFORE the Eid prayer. (some scholar are of the opinion that it can be given as far as 2 days before Eid but majority opinion is as stated). HOW MUCH should I give? 1 Sa' of dates or 1 Sa' of barley for EACH MEMBER of the family. 1 Sa' = 2.5 kg approximately. Some say its 3 kg also. The difference in opinion is because Sa' is a measure of Volume so the weight will be different for different food stuff. So make sure you dont give less than 2.5 kg. WHAT should I give? Hadith states that we should give Zakat Al Fitr as FOOD ITEMS (not cash) such as rice, wheat, dates etc. (Payment as cash is only allowed in special circumstances such as the recipient is benefited more from money) TO WHOM should I give? 1) The poor and the needy; 2) Those employed to collect Zakat; 3) For those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to truth); 4) To free slaves; 5) For those in bondage and in debt; 6) In the cause of Allah; 7) For the Traveller. (Al-Qur'an, 9: 60) Is intention(niyat) necessary? Intention(niyat) before giving Zakat is obligatory. Without intention the Zakat is not fulfilled. There are 3 members in my family, how much Zakat al Fitr should I give? 3 members x 2.5 kg= 7.5kg in total. May Allah accept our zakat. Ameen |
@Jarus I posted a new topic about Zakat Al Fitr and now its gone, kindly look into the matter. |

Remii: Brother please be VERY CAREFUL while declaring that our Prophet Mohammed Rusulullah (sallallahu allaihi wasallam) did/did not say a statement. Zirr b. Habaish reported: I asked Ubayy b. Ka'b (Allah be pleased with him): Your brother (in faith) Ibn Mas'ud says" He who stands (for the night prayer) throughout the year would find Lailat-ul-Qadr", whereupon he said: May Allah have mercy upon him; (he said these words) with the intention that people might not rely only (on one night), whereas he knew that it (Lailat-ul-Qadr) is in the month of Ramadan and it is the twenty-seventh night. He then took oath (without making any exception, i.e. without saying Insha Allah) that it was the twenty-seventh night. I said to him: Abu Mundhir, on what ground do you say that? Thereupon he said: By the indication or by the sign which the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) gave us, and that is that on that day (the sun) would rise without having any ray in it. Book 006, Hadith Number 2633.Sahih Muslim See what just happened. Just because we havent heard of something does not mean it doesnt exist. May Allah save us from making such mistakes while making statements about Islam. Ameen ! |

Assalamualaikum, the following are the special prayer for the 25th night of Ramadan. Narrated Hakim bin Hizam: I asked the Prophet (for some money) and he gave me, and then again I asked him and he gave me, and then again I asked him and he gave me and he then said, "This wealth is (like) green and sweet (fruit), and whoever takes it without greed, Allah will bless it for him, but whoever takes it with greed, Allah will not bless it for him, and he will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied. And the upper (giving) hand is better than the lower (taking) hand." Bukhari : Volume 8, Book 76, Number 448 |
When is Laylat al-Qadr? The knowledge of the exact date of Laylat al-Qadr is hidden from us. Ubadah bin as-Samit t reported that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) walked into the Masjid (Prophet's mosque) and found two men arguing. He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “I was coming to tell you about (the time of) Laylat al-Qadr; when such and such men disputed, the knowledge of it was raised (taken); and this may be better for you. So seek it on the ninth, seventh, and fifth nights (after twenty).”[25th 27th and 29th] [Saheeh al-Bukharee] Various authentic reports indicate that Laylat al-Qadr falls on the nights of twenty first, twenty-third, twenty fifth, twenty seventh, twenty-ninth, or the last night of Ramadaan. Therefore, scholars differ regarding the exact date of Laylat al-Qadr, but definitely it falls on an odd night among the last ten nights of Ramadaan. Note: Twenty-first night means the night preceding the twenty-first day of Ramadaan. ie. if 21st day is on Monday, the 21st night is on the eve, that is Sunday night. |
Hey i ll try my best to be a part of this community and contribute regularly. I hope others will join too. I m not worthy of giving this advice coz i too give up at times, but its a fact that it all depends on one word- Perseverance. About the troublemakers i d like to quote a hadith: Abu Umamah Al-Bahili (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "I guarantee a house in Jannah for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a home in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannahfor one who has good manners.'' [Abu Dawud] Lets keep that in mind. Its difficult to not to argue (i too fall for the trap), but we should try not to. May Allah help us from falling into such arguments. Ameen. |
Completely agree with Roliks, its happening in other places too. Haram things are being done in the name of religion. Lets pray that we dont fall into the trap of promoting it. |
Ma'qal ibn Yasser (radiAllahu anhu) reports the the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) as saying; "he who recited the last three verses of surah al-Hashr in the morning after saying; “A’oodhu Billaah is-samee’ il-‘aleemi min as-Shaytaan ir-rajeem ” three times (I seek refuge with Allaah, the All-Hearing, All-Knowing, from the accursed Shaytaan) for him Allah will appoint seventy-thousand angels to beseech mercy for him until the evening, and if he dies the same day he will be given the status of a martyr, and if he recites the verses in the evening the same will be done for him till morning" [at-Tirmidhi, Darmi] أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ السَّمِيعِ الْعَلِيمِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ https://c0022506.cdn1.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/59_22.png https://c0022506.cdn1.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/59_23.png https://c0022506.cdn1.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/59_24.png He is Allah, than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). I agree with you completely. Even though i am new and i dont know much about the activity in the past, but i can guarantee the following is true. zayhal:Because this Islamic section here brought about a HUGH change in my life. 2 years back I was in a very low point of my life, when i stumbled upon the thread 'What did you learn in Islam recently'. It changed me forever! I was so blinded and mislead by the worldy life, that the thread came to me as a wake up call. I hope that change is permanent and i wont revert back to my old ways. Also its better not to respond to trouble makers, only 2 hands can make a sound. So brothers and sisters please come forward and contribute. May Allah guide us in the right path. |
Aa'ishah (radhi allahu anha) reported that she asked the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam): "O Messenger of Allah r! If I knew the night of Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say during it?” And he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) instructed her to say: “Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa'fu anni” O Allah! You are forgiving, and you love forgiveness. So forgive me.” [(saheeh) by Shaikh al-Albanee (Musnad Ahmad, Ibn Majah and at-Tirmidhee)] Since Laylat al-qadr is supposed to fall in the last ten days of Ramadan (esp odd nights) it can be recited on the last ten days. |
-Is there any worrying event in your life? -Are you troubled with job searching or similar unpalatable post-school events? -Are you undergoing some depression in your life? -Are you undergoing a test of faith? -What is happening in your spiritual life? -What about your mundane life? Most of the answers to the above questions would be yes. I m undergoing through really difficult times for the past few years, financially, mentally and physically.I just finished med college but my career is in crossroads. I ve serious troubles when i do Ibadah, i ve difficulty concentrating during salat or reciting the Quran. May Allah give me strength to face all the hardships of life and provide me with solution to my problems. Allah you are the only one who can help us in any way, please give All of Us freedom from our troubles, debts, disease and give us happiness and lead us to the right path. Please save us from the devils interference while we do our Ibadah. Please accept our repentance and forgive all our sins. Ameen. |
Is Obama a muslim or not, I dont know. Allah knows best. But my personal opinion is that, its just a hoax spread by Republicans to decrease the popularity of Obama. |
Jazakallahu khairan. Do you know who the first Muslim in Islam to be killed in the path of Allah was? It was Sumaiyyah Umm Ammar (Radi Allah Anha). When Abu Jahl heard of her, her husband Yaasir, and her son Ammar’s Islam, he whipped them all and beat them, so much so, that RasulAllah would pass by them as they went through this test of their eman and would say to them, “Be patient, O Jannah!” One day, as Abu Jahl beat Sumayyah, she refused to recant her deen; something that enraged Abu Jahl. He took a spear as she lay on the burning sand looking up to the sky, and he speared through her midsection. She was the first of her family and the entire ummah to meet Allah as a martyr. Definitely there is a very high place for women in Islam. Some muslims may treat women badly but it has nothing to do with Islam. |
My earlier post got deleted. Dont know why. Maybe i should cut the medicine part out. Well sis, ulcer is absolutely curable . Just see your Doctor. Its just that you ve to be careful even if symptoms are relieved. Its good that you control your diet, it certainly helps. |
Aishabee:Well i am a doc and YES ulcers are curable with medication and good diet. Triple regimen is for H.pylori ulcers, which have a tendency to recur. If you are having problems with the antibiotics contact your physician and he ll be able to change the medication. Its nice since you follow diet restriction, its is very important . If you still are not convinced with medicines due to the side effect, atleast take 'Zantac', its Ranitidine (decreases acid secretion of stomach), its not an antibiotic and side effects is very rare. Have it twice daily, it will certainly help. |
Thanx a lot bro, |
zayhal:Ameen. zayhal:Yes it is. You ll ve to have medication for 4-8 weeks. Also will ve to avoid spicy food. But the problem with ulcers is recurrence is common. @Aishabee I suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible and start medication. |
abdurrazaq:Yes brother you are absolutely right. We should be careful while saying something about someone, especially if we aint sure. |
Jazakallahu Kairan. |
@abdulbanat Dont fall into the bait brother, they never had any proof or never will. No use arguing with them. We shouldnt encourage this in our forum. |
Time is running so fast, we are already in the middle 3rd of Ramadan. |
Yazid bin Abi Habib (radiyallaahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) once passed by two women who were performing salaat. He said: “When you make sajdah, attach your body to the ground, for indeed, women are not like men in this matter”. (Maraseel of Abi Dawood, pg 118, #87, Muassasah Al-Risalah) Abdullah Bin Umar (radiyallaahu anhu) reports that the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “When a women sits in salaat, she should place the thighs of one leg upon the thighs of the other and when she makes sajda, she should attach her belly to her thigh so that it is as concealing as possible, for indeed Allah Ta’ala looks at her saying: ‘O my angels, I make you witness that I have indeed forgiven her”. (Al-Baihaqi, vol 2, pg 223, Idara Al-Taleefaat) Ali (radiyallaahu anhu) said: "When a woman makes sajdah (prostrates), she should practise ihtifaaz and keep her thighs close together” (Musannaf Ibni Abi Shayba, vol 2, pg 504, #2793, Al-Majlis al-Ilmi) Ibn Abbas (radiyallaahu anhu) was asked about the salaah of a woman; he replied: "She must draw herself close together and do Ihtifaz” (Musannaf Ibni Abi Shayba, vol 2, pg 505, #2794, Al-Majlis al-Ilmi) |
