Nazgul: I was listening to one of IBB's old interviews with channels TV on YouTube...and he said something that struck me.
He said soldiers usually take advantage of a collapsing economy to stage a coup. And most times the masses wouldn't protest cos they're feeling the heat of the economy, and would welcome them (the soldiers) with open arms with the hope that things would change for their good.
I also read an interview of a former chief of army staff Gen Dambazu here on Nairaland who said some powerful northern retired generals told him to overthrow Jonathan when Yar'adua died, but he choose not to follow their advice cos he felt that Nigeria would face serious sanctions from the West if he does it.
Tinubu should understand this. He literally witnessed all the coups in Nigeria from January 1966 till Diya's I'll fated coup of December 1997.
Nigeria isn't Lagos. If he tries to monopolize power, he might loose that seat. He shouldn't give the military any reason to come back.
I know so many people might say they would prefer the military. But we should know that the military we have now is totally different from the crop that ruled Nigeria back then. Our army is highly politicalized. Meaning there wouldn't be any difference between them and our current crop of corrupt politicans. You are very much on point... soldiers nowadays collect bribe like policemen |

001Lagos: By Adekunle Sulaimon
World football body FIFA has announced its plan to pay prize money directly into the players’ accounts of the winners of the ongoing women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand.
FIFA Secretary-General, Fatma Samoura, confirmed this in a viral video on social media saying the policy change is due to unpaid allowance issues involving Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
The Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, had earlier revealed that some players were owed “per diem and bonuses” from two years ago.
The development caused a stir and almost affected the preparation of the Super Falcon players with most of them insisting on missing the training to protest their unpaid bonuses.
However, in the video, Samoura acknowledged that “things have been tough” for the Falcons.
Waldrum not afraid of potential England clash She added that FIFA for the first time would monitor that match bonuses got to the players directly.
“I know that things have been tough. We have to face the realities of Nigeria. It pains me a lot. It is because of you (the Super Falcons) that, for the first time, the prize money has been ring-fenced in the history of FIFA to ensure that it goes to you,” the FIFA secretary-general said.

Phones › Re: Elon Musk: Twitter Rebranded As X As Blue Bird Logo Killed Off by Azzik: 5:17pm On Jul 24, 2023 |
obedience4: Twitter has changed its brand and logo from its famous blue bird to "X" . The new white X on a black background has replaced the blue bird on the desktop version of the social network, although is yet to appear on the mobile app."Tweets" will also be replaced, according to Twitter's owner Elon Musk, and posts will be called "x's". The billionaire changed his profile picture to the new logo and added "X.com" to his Twitter bio. Mr Musk wants to create a "super app" called X - his vision for a new kind of social media platform that he has been talking about creating for months. On Sunday, the billionaire said he was looking to change Twitter's logo, tweeting: "And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds." Mr Musk, who has changed the name of the business to X Corp, said the replacement "should have been done a long time ago". He posted an image of a flickering X on Twitter, and later in a Twitter Spaces audio chat, replied "Yes" when asked if the Twitter logo would change. Ms Yaccarino wrote on the platform that the rebrand was an exciting new opportunity. "Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate," she said. "Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square." The bird is called Larry which Twitter's co-founder Biz Stone said, in 2011, is a tribute to basketball star and Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird. People took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the logo, including Martin Grasser who designed it in 2012. "Today we say goodbye to this great blue bird," he said. Later the tweet was shared by Jack Dorsey, Twitter's best-known co-founder. The everything app For some people in Asia, super-apps including India's PayTM and Indonesia's GoJek have been a vital part of everyday lives for the past few years. The apps let users pay for services through a finance system. WeChat is a messaging and social media platform that has evolved into one of the region's biggest apps in terms of its range of services and number of users. Last year, it was estimated to have 1.29 billion users in China alone. Drew Benvie, social media commentator and founder of digital agency, Battenhall said, "Musk is going full throttle for the everything app space, leaving old Twitter in his wake, and eyeing the successes of Asia's trailblazers like WeChat and Moj. "Succeeding in just a couple of additional services, such as shopping or payments, could be all that's needed to make X better than Twitter was. But there are already so many alternatives, so Musk and co are playing an enormous game of catch-up." Twitter's website says its logo, depicting a blue bird, is "our most recognisable asset". "That's why we're so protective of it," it added. The firm temporarily replaced the logo in April with Dogecoin's Shiba Inu dog, helping drive a surge in the meme coin's market value. Mr Musk was later accused of insider trading by a group of Dogecoin investors, who claimed he had profited from driving up Dogecoin's value.
Rapid rebrand Business commentator Justin Urquhart Stewart said Twitter's "loyal but aging base" would not like the changes. "The younger generations have moved onto other apps and Twitter does look at bit old-fashioned." "Elon Musk has got to be careful as you are almost starting from scratch with an older audience meanwhile damaging the original brand," he said. The very rapid rebranding of Twitter has also caused some security concerns. Jake Moore, global cyber adviser at security firm ESET, said the transition from one company name to another could encourage phishing, where criminals impersonate people or organisations to steal users' data. "A rebrand is the perfect opportunity to send phishing emails requesting users to sign in via a new URL from a link within that email - but of course that link wouldn't be genuine and that's where people could be tricked into handing over their genuine Twitter credentials without their usual level of caution," he told the BBC. "Cyber-criminals can easily prey on this, especially those searching for that new URL."
X obsession Mr Musk has long had a fascination with the letter X - although no-one really knows why. One of his first business ventures in 1999 was known as X.com, which was an online banking platform. Just three years later, Mr Musk made $165m when X.com - by then merged with PayPal - was bought by eBay. He also owns the X.com domain name, which now redirects to Twitter. Mr Musk is also chief executive of SpaceX, the commercial American aerospace company founded in 2002. There is also the name of his first child with musician Grimes - X Æ A-12 Musk. Mr Musk also recently launched his long-awaited artificial intelligence start-up - xAI - in a bid to build an alternative to ChatGPT....

Okealaaye: Fruitless exertions that will avail nix! Obi's political career is as dead as dodo and he's to blame. You don't plant coconut and hope to harvest palm fruits. He could have stayed on in the PDP and agree to be Atiku running mate. Or, what governance experience did he acquire between 2019 and 2023 that he should think that he's bigger than his former principal? National politics is far higher than Anambra politics. That's the basic truth Obi's boastful kinsmen failed to tell him. How would anyone from a fractioned political party expect to defeat another who had been building nationwide bridges since 1993? A man who didn't ask for contracts and other perquisites from the government he helped to install. How many politicians could have done that? Obi's time has faded with the February 29th sunset, and no amount of birthday celebrations, hospital and IDP camp visitations can revive it. If only because when the sun rises it doesn't look back until it fulfills its daily course. There are countless Igbo politicians like Moghalu, Onu, Umahi and Soludo who are miles away from Obi in competency, etc. who can easily be BETTER Nigeria's president! So, why the fixation on Peter Obi, a man who can in no way light a candle to any of those great men? Oga go and sit down for where contain you and celebrate this great man. This your foolish talk will not amount to anything....na jealousy and hatred dey worry you. Obi may not contest for president again but he has left a lasting impression and legacy in the heart of young people. So election or no election, win or lose, obi will always remain in the heart of Nigerians. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Job Experience: My Testimony by Azzik: 2:14pm On Jul 20, 2023 |
Daviestunech: Good day my fellow nairalanders...
Before I start this my write up...I want to say a prayer that may God provides a tangible jobs to those that are dare need of a job..(Amen).
So I was working with this company as an inventory manager ( name withheld).. when I was offered the employment letter, I went through it and it's was really a challenging one...why because I will be working Monday -saturday 8-6 no off days, infact no public holiday, even on Easter day, we were given just a day holiday. And there's is 500 deduction everytime you are late to work.
Well, since this is the only offer letter that came in that period of the series of interview I went, I just have to accept it since there's a lot of bills to pay. And mind you, the pay was just slightly above 60k. Though they were series of bonuses that will b paid if target are met.. and luckily we met a lot of target and I was paid the bonuses two times .. though they are still owing me some bonuses even when left, which the management said I will be paid the rest by September.
So I started last year September.. well, the work wasn't that stressful unless some certain days, ...but the work took all my time, why because I don't have time for my self..even time to flex on weekends with my friends ... even on public holidays of which my friends are always at home chilling, me don reach work. Latest my 8am.. and some certain things I don't like about the work which I won't mention here.
So along the line,I felt tired about the job so I was planning for my exit around April this year...
There's this notion about people that...u just don't leave your job before seeking for another alternative, because you don't know when the next one will come...
Around April -may this year, I was already applying for another job, luckily was getting interview invite some were online interview why some were physical interview.. all the interview I got, I couldn't attend anyone..why?... Because of the nature of this my job...I got interview from konga, from jiji and so on..but the nature of my job won't permit me to go.
So I was reasoning how will I navigate to get good alternative.. well I just took the bold step by quitting first..and face whatever is coming...
So I gave them notice that I will b leaving by June ending (last month).. My plan was to rest a little bit before applying for another jobs again, luckily I might see another one with better pay and all that...
Early this month, I was still apply for jobs because savings don dey run down and y'all know wetin this country dey talk because even person way dey work dey see shege talkless of a jobless person.
Luckily I got my first invite from this oil $ gas logistics company at ikoyi.. we did a virtual interview before I was invited for a test at their company at ikoyi..
On the day of the test, I dressed up ND I was on my way.. I got to oshodi I board a bus going to obalende at oshodi..I heard 1k for the tfare money. Naso I shouted say 1k just from oshodi to obalende. Naso the conductor shouted back at me if u no dey go oga come down...
I was contemplating that won't I just come down and go home , because I don't know if I will pass the test or offered the job, make I no just waste this tfare, this money would have take care some things and enjoy myself.
Luckily the conductor collected his money even before the bus got filled up...so ginger to collect the money back and go home..no dey my body again...so I just made up my mind..make I just go.
I got to the place...a very Serene environment and all....
The lady ushered me to the test room...omo the test I did there pass jamb own...
I did 6 test which include:
Math test Verbal test Reasoning test Excel test Power point test Typing test
And mind you, I will still do the normal interview again...
I was like which kind wahala b this and secondly I didn't even eat or drink any water before I got there...
I just did the test anyhow..of wish I failed 3 woefully.. and only did well at the power point test, typing test and reasoning test.
I was called in for the proper interview...I met a lady and we started... along the line the CEO joined us.... the interview lasted almost an hour...with series of drilling questions which I did my best to answer them well...
Naso the CEO ask the lady to present her my test score, what came out of the CEO was why did you fall woefully like this, omo I just didn't say anything..I was just looking...he said this test is really poor...well to cut this short...he just said, they will get back to me...in my mind I HV already concluded I won't be called back..
Job seekers take notes of these please,:
After the online interview before I was called for the test, I sent an appreciation email to them...
After the test and the physical interview I did the same again...
On Monday this week I still send a follow up email to them again...
But Glory be to God I was sent an offer letter yesterday with pay x2 my former place, even came with airtime ND data allowance, health insurance, Monday -friday 9-5 ND all....
So, I just have to share these to inspire someone out there.. Abeg make una forgive my English errors ooo.. Thank you all and God bless. Congrats bro.. this is very inspiring and motivating. Have learnt something important from this write-up. |

LithiumSupplier: 1. I work in a project development company.
2. I am at the assistant manager level.
3. I do most of the work; from designing and maintaining company's websites, to clerical works such document preparation, oversee environmental consulting jobs, to troubleshooting company's systems and many more.
4. The problem is that the company does not appreciate all my efforts. They push every blame on me.
The owner and his son are just so inconsiderate. For example, I was working on a project that required attachment of some sensitive documents.
Once it was time, I requested for the documents from the owner, instead he provided me with different documents entirely. Many times, he will shout at me for asking questions. So I assumed that he didn't want the documents out in the public.
While reviewing my work, the owner was okay with the attached documents until he decided to make presentation with the work to prospects.
As soon as the prospects registered dissatisfaction with the out of place documents (So to say), he called and started blasting me on the phone, calling me stup!d and stuff. He would always let me take the fall for his own mistakes all the time.
His son on the other hand is just too empty and overbearing. His father would always ask him to supervise any project I'm working on. He would okay many things and I can't say otherwise.
When we present the project to his father and the father decides to query any part of the things which he okayed earlier, he will push all the blames on me and the father will call to nag and lambast me for things I know nothing about.
This has been going on for like 3 years now.
My regret was that I turned down an offer from a small oil company in Lagos last year and early this year too.
My current pay is 300,000 NGN without accommodation, while the Lagos' was 350,000 NGN with accommodation.
I'm currently in Abuja. I was scared of the traffic in Lagos.
I really don't know what to do anymore...
This issue is affecting my mental health.
This guy talks down on me anyhow without respect.
This is a guy that can't properly put together a common letter.
As plan B, I have set up two blogs and Google just approved Adsense application on one, while I'm working on the other one. I have also set up Facebook pages and have grown to over 232,000 active followers.
I am also an environmental consultant with over 15 years experience, I also major in GIS and I design websites too.
I am married with 2 kids. What should I do? I think with your skill and experience you can get a better job or start something that could pay you better. If you have save some money I think you should plan quitting that job for your rest of mind and sanity. |

This terrorist should have been tried and convicted by now. Some seem to be bent on ensuring he doesn't get the death penalty. Why is it taking so long to prosecute a very open and shut case? This is how most criminals get away with their crimes in Nigeria. Everyone is so corrupt and incapable of discharging their duties unless they have something to gain.
It's pathetic and sad. In most societies of the world, Coward Cownu would have been sentenced by now. The real terrorist and herdsmen operating freely in the North so, how many have been convicted. |
