mrkayusfit:
What exactly is the problem the igbos have with yoruba? Why can't they let us be without blaming us for not letting them go? The average yoruba person supports a united Nigeria because what the igbos fail to see while standing we have seen while sitting.

Biafra is another south sudan in the making. It will be filled with crisis between the igbo and minorities hereby leading to a civil war that could go on for decades. No country wants to share a border with a destabilized biafra because of refugee and humanitarian crisis thay will arise. The ikwere's and anioma's have already made it clear they are not igbos. They finally figured out the plan by the igbos to dominate them because of their oil. A united Nigeria is what the average Igbo man needs to thrive as we can see with present realities. The igbos success are recorded in the south west and north mostly. There is nothing to fall back on in igbo land because of the unproductive nature of the region. It will be a huge mistake if they think the region will thrive as a country cos they need the Yoruba's and hausa-fulanis to build a robust economy. A word is enough for the wise. Biafra is not the solution.
Oga drink your tea and let others be. Why do you always like to think for the Igbos.

Igbos had never have problem with the minorities, is it when they actualise what they've been looking for that they will start killing themselves, one thing I like about east is that they know how to reach consensus through dialogue.

If you think Biafra is south Sudan in making, why not ask Federal government to grant it so that we will see if you are right.

But bro, Biafra will prove you wrong cos I've foreseen that.

I will support this if only they will support business estate bill for Igbos in Nigeria where every states in the North will map out 30% of their total land and allocate them to Igbos for their perpetual business in the land.

And Igbos and other southerners shall have full right over the lands and call the land anything they feel like, such as Akabo, Obulu ulor, Esien udim, Akwa mmiri, Opobo ala n'elu, Ugwu calabar, Obi okirika, Dukubo's land etc. and no Muslim shall have right to erect any mosque of any form on these lands. Igbos and other southerners will forever be the owners of the lands.

Abagworo:
I have only been to Kano on a brief stop over without exploration but Nigerian cities are generally centered on the major roads. Amaechi tried in giving D-Line area of Port Harcourt the best inner city roads in the East but that is just 2% to 5% of the city. Most Governors need to visit D-Line and catch a glimpse of how it should be done but 70% of inner streets in Port Harcourt are not paved.
When it comes to planning and tarring of inner streets, eastern cities are the best. You are a Google map expert, you can use google map and confirm my statement. You can't see the type of street lining we see in eastern cities in any of the northern cities apart from Abuja.

Eastern governors give equal attention to major roads and inner streets while in north the ratio is 95:5, that is, 95% attention to major roads and 5% attention to inner streets. there are many areas you will go without seeing a single planned street talk more of tarred, most streets are just Appian way, ghetto-like style.

In the North I don't think that they know much about anything called streets as known in the east. lack of maintenance culture is inherent in the north where one can see many abandoned govt properties and even abandoned towns.

Any other time you go to Kano try and explore the city. I like the city for just 2 things:
1. wide major roads, their double lane is two and half compared to east where they normally add something to the existing one lane and divide it into two. size of most roads in kano is like Aba road in portharcourt and
2. planting of trees along the major roads just like other northern cities and towns.

quote me anywhere, when you are ranking cities based on beauty and social development like tourism and housing, apart from Abuja no northern cities can come before Owerri. Owerri is well planned and very beautiful in its unique way.
Politics › Re: 15 Cities With The Best Infrastructure In Nigeria. by B2mario(m):
Abagworo:
Uyo is no different from what you alleged about Northern cities. So if you think Uyo is good then Kano is better. Only a handful of cities in Nigeria have majority good inner streets above 50% . Maybe Owerri, Abuja and Enugu. Port Harcourt is bad as well with over 70% untarred inner streets.
Abagworo, actually I don't know what to say again. I don't know the yardstick you are using to draw your judgement with respect to housing and inner streets I pointed out earlier. But can still tell you that Uyo is better in terms of housing and inner streets compare to kano, or are you using the unity bank headquarters tower to judge.

Oga, nothing is in kano. Remove the wide roads and overhead ridges Kano is just empty.

Infact, when counting beautiful cities in Nigeria, most southern cities will come before any northern city apart from Abuja and to some extent, Kaduna.

If we are analysing nigerian cities based on housing, then I will tell you that Owerri surpass both portharcourt, calabar, Uyo, Kaduna, Kano, and Ibadan. And here Aba and Onitsha may come in.

Obaino860, you have done well. but still keep it coming. I also want someone to show Enugu, Asaba, Uyo and Calabar.

I've seen many people drew their analysis of beautiful/infrastructural advanced cities, but believe me I've gone round Nigeria and will tell you that I remove cap for OWERRI and Okorocha.

I was born in the East, I've stayed in the west and now I'm residing in the North, far north for that matter.

please let no one misunderstand me, when it comes to infrastructural advanced cities whether new or dilapidated, the list goes like this:
1. Lagos
2. Abuja
3. Portharcourt
4. kano
5. Ibadan(though accident)
6. Enugu
7. Uyo(though small but contain solid infrastructures)
8. Owerri
9. calabar
10. Kaduna
11. Asaba/Jos

But in terms of beauty the list goes like this:
1. Abuja
2. Lagos
3. portharcourt
4. Enugu
5. Uyo
6. Calabar
7. Owerri
9. Kaduna
10. Ibadan
11. Asaba
12. Kano

let's not be deceived by name or propaganda. apart from major roads, Northern cities are pool. Kano for instance, has good wide roads but very scanty with ghetto-like houses that are peculiar to most northern cities.

In the North, they give more attention to major roads and very poor attention to inner streets. 70% of areas in northern cities look like ghetto with very poor housing.

former Gov. Aliyu magatakarda wamakko of sokoto and kwakwanso of Kano tried in the area of housing. At least one can see the beautiful estate under construction along Kano/Zaria expressway if you are entering Kano city.

Apart from wide roads, nothing is in Kano forget about propaganda, portharcourt is lager than Kano. Those that have Google map can prove me right. Kano is scanty and characterized with poor housing in most area of the city. I even prefer Sokoto to kano.

Kaduna has wide road but not like Kano. you can count flyovers in Kaduna if not just 1. it has some attribute of Kano, poor housing(downstairs with send-down-the-rain-roofs) as well though it has some good houses along major roads.
It's slightly larger than Enugu.

Owerri is more beautiful than Kano and Kaduna, although Kano is more infrastructural advanced.

Deadlytruth:
I disagree that Yorubas initiated the coup. One thing that was very clear was that both Ifeajuna (the ac notual arrowhead of the coup) and Nzeogwu had tremendous reverence and respect for Awolowo. Nwobosi (the Ibadan axis commander of the coup) recently granted a press interview in which he declared that among all the leading politicians back then (i.e. Balewa, Bello, Zik, Awolowo, Okpara, Akintola, and Okotie-Eboh) only Awolowo could not be classified as a mediocre hence the original plan of himself, Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu was to kill all those directly and indirectly involved in Awolowo's imprisonment and then free Awolowo and forcefully install him as the prime minister whether he liked it or not. Don't forget that Ifeajuna schooled in UI which was the first University in Nigeria and established by Awolowo. Nzeogwu was a no nonsense and 100% detribalized and ascetic army officer who was disgusted by the governing style of the coalition between Bello, Balewa, Zik, Okotie-Eboh and Akintola, so much that only in Awolowo he saw an excellent alternative. Why those young military men were so convinced of Awolowo remains a puzzle however. So it was clear that it was not really a Yoruba coup but a patriotic coup in conception but tribalized by Ifeajuna at execution stage.
I don't like it when somebody is not being truthful. Are you trying to tell me that you can't read?

what I said is no longer news, it's everywhere for us to read. Hausa hid the truth inorder to get the support of the yorubas because they can't fight Igbos and the yorubas at the same time. And at the same time the two group had one thing in common, that is, envy of Igbo progress in scheme of Nigerian politics.

they seized the coup as an opportunity to eliminate the Igbos in the helm of affair. Oga take this for the last time, the devilish Awolowo was the person who initiated the coup while in prison through maj. Adewale, captain. Adeleke and Lt. Oyewole.

Gowon and other Nigerian high rank officials knew about this. Awolowo was the first to call for secession of western region from Nigeria. And the worst part of it, is that when he came out from prison he even sided Nigeria to victimised the Easterners while he knew that they went to war because of what he initiated. But thank God he did not die a happy man.

That man destroyed this country with his devilish ideology.

Ask yourself, why did Babangida failed to give him state burial?

Deadlytruth:
I have never heard or read an Anioma person claim Edos killed them in the War. Only SE Igbos make this claim thus it reeks of mischief and falsehood. Biafran soldiers actually started their bloodletting from Benin on those who supported the openly declared neutrality. Such were tortured, killed, raped (if female) because they were Northerners' friends according to Biafra Soldiers.

You obviously are ignorant of Edo culture and value system to be comparing it with Yoruba or even any other tribe in Nigeria. Edo, yes, has aversion for Igbo because of their war aggression on Benin. Edos don't joke with their royal pride as a kingdom, so anything that threatens to undermine their cultural heritage is not tolerated at all. Edo fought itself out of western Region because they could not stomach having Benin their spiritual capital being under Ibadan admistration wise. Same reason why we detest anything biafra as it would place Enugu as capital over Benin. That will be too unacceptable! Politically we flow more with yorubas because we share the same realistic ideology unlike Igbos who ignore reality and fantasize about an idealistic one Nigeria. But remember that Imo state too has always drifted away from mainstream Igbo political leaning towards realistic politicking so much now that APC (assumed Yoruba party) rules it by winning transparent election, and that does not make them Yorubas.

Nzeogwu was not even really the coup leader. His name only came to stick on it due to his own unique bravery and genuinely nationalistic intents for the coup. The real leader of the coup was Ifeajuna from today's SE. There was also a Yoruba man among them and they all worked together to kill mostly innocent men, women and unborn children. There was no Edo man in that evil plot. Edos and Edoids generally don't believe in shedding innocent blood especially of outsiders, and that was why David Ejoor never fancied the idea of a coup. So why should Edos and Edoids have allowed themselves to, in the name of protecting Igbos, share in the consequences of a bloodshed they did not participate in? It does not make sense. After all Enahoro was jailed by igbos in collusion with Hausas. Edos associate based on ideology hence Enahoro was first an ally of Zik on sensing his level of education but later had to abandon Zik and move over to Awo's side when he discovered that Zik was not of a stable character. The Jan 1966 coup and Biafra war were all between Hausa, Yorubas and Igbos. Edos and Edoids had no business in them. In fact they declared neutrality which the Federal forces respected but which Biafra dishonoured. If it were a Yoruba army that invaded Benin while ojukwu did not, Enahoro would have joined Ojukwu to flush them out and massacre them. Home interest first before any other.
It is in the national archives that Ifeajuna fired Okotie-Eboh but left Zik who actually was his boss in the crime of fraternizing with the north. We have not forgiven.

And to be candid we see Igbos as same of the same with the North since they've always aligned more with Hausa-Fulani against the South and more than any other Southern group. We see them as more positively disposed to Hausa-Fulanis and sharing their political value systems than with the South. They may quarrel and kill one another but they soon make it up and come to alliance again. But we find it irritating. So we don't like that North-centric value system in Igbos.
Oga yorubas were the initiators of the coup, they brought Igbos in because of their bravery and dumped them when they saw the implications. they plotted the coup so as to free awolowo and eliminate those they perceived as Awo's enemy, mainly northern leaders and few Yoruba leader like the then premier of western region and his allies.

relax one day, the truth must be revealed.

I don't know why my Igbo brothers are giving ikwerre much attention. Ikwerre was once an Igbo tribe but they betrayed their brothers and denied their identity due to war that ended since 1970.

I don't see anything much important about ikwerre, I prefer to call an Ibibio, anang or ijaw man my brother to ikwerre man. ikwerre has nothing apart from our important city, portharcourt they collected from us.

Ogba/egbema/ndoni is better than ikwerre in terms of many things oo. Asaba is a lord over ikwerre, Agbo clan in Abi LGA of cross river produce more personalities than my ikwerre brothers.

but to summarize everything, I still see ikwerre as part of larger Igbo nation and portharcourt as one of igbo important cities. but lets overlook this their childish identity crises, one day, they will realize themselves.

**** preach for love, unity and oneness not making divisive comment here. Everybody knows that Hausa-fulani are the most aggressive and stubborn of all groups in Nigeria, last time, were they not the ones killing lagosian in Orile, mile 12 and Agatu people in their homeland?

Now they want to start such in Igboland forgetting that though Igbos are peaceful and don't like starting problem but are strong and good in reprising attack.

Indirectly, your comment is not what an ordinary reader may take it to be, but it's a conflict instigating comment. As yoruba normal way of life, you have an interior motive not the mere sympathy you claimed. Have finished sympathising the yorubas killed in Mile 12 lagos, Ogun, and Ondo, the Idomas killed Agatu or the Igbos killed in Enugu?

Currently, I reside in Hausaland I know how Igbos and other strangers respect them and their culture for peace to reign but they hardly respect yours, because they feel that they own Nigeria and control the military.

If any problem erupt again, hmmmm, i don't pray for such but everybody will feel it this time around cos more people are angry.

Lets not forget that the last civil war that Biafrans soldiers won militarily while Nigeria won by killing and starving innocent unarmed civilian citizens of Biafra, and this was reason the water was declared 'No Victor, No Anguished' because the both sides suffered severely.

Nigeria suffered through losing millions of soldiers will Biafra suffered by losing millions of civilians.

So lets learn from the past and pray that such will not repeat itself. Peace, love and respect is the ultimate.

The length they will go to to discredit Nigeria and cause agitation among their gullible followers. They post fake pictures and fake stories just to rile up themselves. It's obvious they are yet to learn from the casualties of the Civil War. They live and progress in other people's land more than any other tribe in Nigeria yet they are preaching hate and intolerance. And the comments from supposed educated igbo youths on the buafra page makes me dumbfounded at how people can be filled with so much venom and hate. This is the result. I hope they remember their kinsmen are in their millions in the north. God bless Nigeria.
Was the Hausa man not the 1st to kill? That the injustice against Igbos we are talking about. They'll kill our people and still complain when our people reiterate. Can an Igboman try this in Kano?

You must be a yoruba cos yoruba is the real problem of this country, they are irrational in their judgement. Igbos are the most peaceful nation in Nigeria that's why they can stay anywhere and do business peacefully without provoking the host but reverse is the case for Hausa-Fulani.

How many times have you heard of any Igboman confronting anybody in their land or anywhere, but the issue is that when you confront them 1st, they reiterate. You and I know that Igbos are maltreated in this country and your comment here is the height of it. 5 people were killed and out of the 5 just 1 is hausa you sympathise with only 1 leaving the remaining 4. You are devil in human form.

This is one of the reasons why Biafrans want to leave Nigeria because Hausa-fulani and yoruba hate them because of envy of their success and progress in Nigeria and because they are 99% Christians.
