I was watching a report on CNN how Japanese Politicians are making effective use of the media and internet to revolutionize election campaigning. They have started creating interactive computer applications that can be downloaded online for free. .....Only to come across this our first lady's depressing mode of campaigning. |
Evestar200: the place is already a WORLD CLASS CITY,,goods roads with largest roundabout and walkways,,,best hotels in delta state are in Uwvie,,FUPTI (federal university of petroleum traning Insitute),, Osubi airport in okpe is very close to UWVIE,,just 5 minutes,,Majority and of the oil other companies are located in this place,, and majority of the housing estate are located in this place,,,so what more? All we need is world class stadium and international Airport,,and we are doneWouldn't mind seeing pictures. Why am i just hearing this for the first time? |
Evestar200: rich ko? Rich ni? Off to UWVIE to breath in some FRESH AIR!!!!!! remaing INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND A STADIUM and UWVIE will turn to WORLD CLASS CITYIt takes much more than that to build a "WORLD CLASS CITY". |
telexfree1: Don't mind them . And some stu.pi.d full from the hinterland cannot even comprehend when I posted about how Henry Ford put America on wheels in 1901.Not everyone will understand the history of the Automobile, how much the Amerian Govt gave Henrikk Fisker (That makes luxury Electric cars) to save his car company, or how the Big 3 of Detroit were bailed out during the height of the last Global economic recession. They just want to drop points to make them appear intelligent meanwhile they only expose their ignorance. The Govt should assist Innoson Automobile Company but not with half-wit efforts like Purchasing 40 units of their vehicles in 3 years time. |
Evestar200: dey there dy pray,,the that big headed chumps dy chop our money 4 im belle,,,for the whole delta state na Uwvie fine pass,,bcuz Uwvie pple nor dy take nonsense,,other LGA pple shut their mouth make uduaghan dy chop the money but Uwvie and Udu pple nor shut their mouthAnd Delta is a rich state with little population. Turning it into a World class destination would be easier than what Fashola is attempting. |
Nebeuwa: I know some people will find something wrong with this if they haven't already commented. Its a good move but its too little to pass a strong message to encourage serious patronage. Innoson should wait for 3 years b4 FG patronize them and purchase 40 vehicles?? Even a lot of companies and banks will do better than that in little time. |
Soso990240: name d states abeg..if u stay in lagos,am inviting u to apapa-oshodi road..tincan to coconut bus-stop na death trap.why is fashola keepin quiet? Are u sayin dat lagos is moving backward? I hate arguing wit kids.wotI'm so sorry. I just saw your profile and i realized you're not the kind of person i relate with. You're highly unintelligent and unexposed. Sorry. |
vladimiros: apart from lagos tell me one southwest city doing better in development than uya and portLagos is a State so never mention it in the same sentence with UYO and PH. And also, they are located in Oil producing states so anything less than what they're doing is fraud on their people.......of which why is it people trekking, riding bicycles and keke-Marwa that are always present on those lovely Uyo roads?? Ibadan dwarfs both of them in human resources. Thank God they have oil. Yeah, also, there seems to be more pics of development from Ogun state currently than PH. |
Soso990240: and ur small sense told u dat its good 4 state government to be executing federal project? How many states execute federal projects? And your "Big Sense" told you that when the Federal Govt fail in their duties to execute their projects, they should be left to rot to hell at the expense of the State and its inhabitants?? States that don't execute abandoned FG projects are the most backwards in Nigeria. Thank God you're not a S.W Governor. |
Tolexander: if they really wanna promote the patronage, why don't they order the presidency and the federal parastatal to change their official cars to innoson manufactured cars. When i first saw the post, the first thought that came to my mind was....."Just 40?? And they have to wait till 2016 for that to happen again" ![]() Esha tins too dey trip some people. See the weak gesture and their hearts are already won over. Until Federal Government officials trade in their Land cruisers, S-classes and Prado Suvs for Innoson Vehichles, all na wash. Na who get sense now?? |
anonimi: Let me give you some quick pointers:You keep talking as if this is 1960. You are stuck in the past....face your front!!! Things are different now, economies have risen, some have crashed, populations have increased, exchange rates are not the same, social issues are no longer the same...... Get out of your aged frame of mind, this is 2013!!! |
vislabraye: Dangote is owing who ? I guess you'll say BiLl Gate is also owing. Dangote may have borrowed in the past but he's very solvent.Go and google U.S.A's debt profile before you talk. Then google the top 10 economies and see how much they owe. Lots of Economic illiterates on this forum, geeez!!! Nigerians are truely the problem in this country. A lot lack knowledge and rather than learn, they'll keep exposing their ignorance to the World. |
“Would these projects not plunge the state into needless debts” or “would they not be abandoned ultimately” have been the sort of question agitating curious minds?
Pessimist like you. So Ogun should remain in a State of under-development because of fears of abandoned projects and debt?? Life will remain stagnant for an individual till he takes that important step forward. Thank God our leaders in the West don't think like you. |
Arsenate: well said. The thing with my yoruba brothers is that they don't travel; for most of them, life starts and ends in the SW. Cities like port harcourt and uyo are doing much better than most SWern cities and they're governed by PDP so what are we talking about?Post pictures or hold your peace. Or are the works there alergic to photography?? New works keep coming out of the S.W while the others seem stagnant or at a slower pace. Why?? Port-Harcourt and Uyo aren't even as big as Ikeja alone. Talkless of other countless locations within Lagos. |
PrettyRita: Although the office of the first lady isn't a constitutionally recognized position, one cannot deny the popularity that Dame Patience enjoys in the country. Undeniably, she accounts for the mass support the husband enjoyed in the last election, as she was seen traversing almost all the states in the country, campaigning for d husband. Just yesterday, she hosted woman empowerment rally and the whole down was agog. Her grammatical errors of epic porpotion is her claim to fame......apart from that??....Her involvement in the current Rivers State trouble and accepting the Position of Permanent secretary in Bayelsa State. |
The days of Lunatics and Destitutes being a part of our landscape is over. |
They have explained it over and over again and true Lagosians have witnessed it but some block heads keep coming back to this same point. V.I was about to be washed away before this project was conceived. This project saved V.I and its extension will save the whole coastline. Anyone that's against this Project has no knowledge of what progress is. How daft can some people get?? No wonder Nigeria is backwards. |
anonimi: I guess you are speaking for yourself, which is quite alright.Stop living in the past!!!...This is not 1960 or what not, this is not Jakande's era!!! Things have changed since then. Population in Lagos has exploded, the urban sprawl is far larger, the social problems encountered are now immense, Slums are more and far larger, corruption is now a giant in the system, people are far more lawless, the decay of lagos has been on-going for up to 30years before he took over....Why won't he struggle?? Please, learn to be logical, if you had reasoned all these points above, you won't be saying some things u're saying. You're smarter than that. |
Why is this thread so calm and empty on this issue .......Ohhh....They're all busy at threads Castigating Gov Fashola leaving issues that directly concern them behind. |
Big things going on it the South West. Some people are simply angry b'cos they're not part of it. It hurts doesn't it?? Over-blown performance?? I don't care as long as my environment keeps improving. I'm tired of stagnation. Please, someone should mention a Governor that's better than Fashola in Nigeria. BTW, isn't it obvious he's the Best with how he's the only talked about Governor?? |
Emmadani: When i once said lagos was owing the highest external debt,a guy said lagos has more responsibilities,i told him to outline d responsibilities,he was going zig zag.Eko oni baje o.The most developed Nations in the World owe the highest debts. Period. Google it. It shows u don't even know the workings of a sucessful economy. |
Nigerians, choose your leaders wisely and reap the benefits. Don't get carried away by cheap Political affilliations and tribal sentiments. S.W on point. Fast-foward to 2024 with A.C.N/A.C.P at the helm and picture what the S.W will look like at this rate. |
Mr McJay: With al reciprocated humility, I stay on Bourdillon road and U've picked the right person to argue with. Since you go to Ikoyi every day, I challenge you to name the road or street in Ikoyi without drainage. As for Abuja, I've been there and I agree that it's a nice place. However, for you to say Ikoyi is without drainage, it shows the kind of info u possess. So, name the part of Ikoyi without drainage.Stop trying to prove anything to that dude. He's just a pessimist trying to express his pessimistic views.....that's all. He probably has the same outlook on his life and criticizes people around him too while being blind to their positive sides. He's also shallow. He only sees what's on the surface and doesn't look deeper at foundations. If corruption was to end in Nigeria, that same Abuja will start withering away while Lagos is sustained by the hardworking individuals that work and invest in it. If a Nuclear Bomb was suddenly dropped on Abuja (God forbid it) corruption will most likely end afterwards. If the same happens to Lagos, Nigeria might probably grind to a halt. Judging a city is more that Roads and sidewalks. What kind of spirit drives its growth and sustainance is the key factor. |
Boss13: Many of us are sycophanting for Fashola now and probably the next governor. However, I am astonished at how economic power is shifting to Abuja. The moment Financial Institution cite the head offices in Abuja, Lagos will cease being the economic power house of Nigeria.Dream on....Lagos is where the legit money is at, all they do in Abuja is share Government money. Your post above shows you don't have any idea on what makes an economic capital. The real brains regardless of tribe are in Lagos. Lagos has been the Economic hub of west Africa for over 200years. It didn't change when the Capital status was changed and it won't if Bank head quarters move to Abuja. Enterpreneurs run Lagos, Politicians run Abuja, Money is generated in Lagos, Money is shared in Abuja, which one is better for the economy??.....Now I'v confirmed that you're just one of those Lagos haters/pessimists. Do yourself a favour and move to Abuja sharply. |
Shine u Eye: See what our oil money is being used for.Your Governors receive more and your population is far less......Have you asked them why they aren't delivering at a higher rate than Lagos State?? Or even 1/2 the rate. You won't "shine your eye" to the one that's affecting you directly. |
anonimi: I don't think anyone will say or has said that Fashola has "done nothing". Every Nigerian politician has done something. The critical question is has the PUBLIC SERVANT done something WORTHWHILE for the electorate when COMPARED with the RESOURCES at his diposal vis-a-vis his predecessors in the same Office and other places.Provide a Governor whom you think is the benchmark for excellence in Nigeria and I'll understand what you've been driving at. |
redsun: It is easier to turn a village into planned mega city than a slum like lagos where you wouldn't know where to start from.Ohhh....So u know Fashola's job isn't easy as the Governor of Lagos and you criticize him at every turn as if you can do a better job. Meanwhile, he's making progress in his Lagos agenda while turning your village into a mega planned City (Which according to you is easier) is still in waiting. |
@Boss13. Imagine if Lagos gets 2 more sucessive Governors like Fashola and they all complete 2 terms each. Lagos would be World-class by the time they're through. Lagos is not there yet but its well on its way.....nd its left the rest of Nigeria behind. |
Boss13: I am not seeing the change, I am not feeling the change but people are singing change. Then I look around and ask myself why the hell are they singing change. The man has used 6.6years in office and lets get serious here what physical changes have we seen? I can count them. Then why are people really making other Nigerians feel like Lagos is truly progressing? If it is tax revenue collection, I can say yes but infrastructurally hell NO.So you don't regard.... (1) The elevated rail along Badagry expressway leading to the Island being constructed as infrastructure. (2) The current expansion and reconstruction of the Badagry Expressway. (3) The current Expansion and reconstruction of the Ikorodu rd from Mile-12 to Ikorodu. (4) All the expanded roads complete with sidewalks and streetlights in Surulere. (5) All the streetlights and functioning traffic-lights in Ikeja. (6) The lighting up of the Ikorodu road from the Island up to Maryland. (7) Eko Atlantic city currently under development. ( The Mushin-Isolo link bridge.(9) The Ikoyi-Lekki link bridge. (10) Countless medical centers all over Lagos. (11) All the Repaired roads complete with streetlights in Yaba. (11) The expanded roads within Apapa C.B.D. (12) Numerous pedestrian bridges with more currently under construction. (13) The recent lighting up of the Carter Bridge. (14) The repair and lighting up of the trunk road passing through Mushin. (15) Re-introduction of ferries on our water-ways. (16) Rehabilitation centers for miscreants and skill acquisition centers. (17) The clearing and cleaning up of Oshodi, Obalende etc. (18) BRT and Lagbus which led to the end of the Molue era. (19) The numerous housing projects all over Lagos. (20) Less traffic offenders due to enforcement of traffic rules. (21) No more illegal road side markets. (22) No more random refuse heaps by the roads. (22) Lawma pickin up trash in homes once a week now. (23) Those street sweepers wearing orange over-alls so that you can see them (I still don't know how u missed seein them despite wearin orange) Open your eyes man.......I can't even begin to mention it all, stop acting like you don't know how messed-up Lagos was in the 90s except you don't live in Lagos and you're just tryin to discredit Fashola. |
Boss13: Fashola is truly working. Working on roads or rather repairing roads. There are so many abnormalities that needs to be corrected in Lagos and they are not receiving the desired attention. I am currently in Abuja and I have been here for a week. The sanity in this place just want me to break down in tears when I compare it to the madness in Lagos. I can truly estimate the number of minutes it would take me to get to my desired location. You can hardly see hawkers knocking on your car window pressurizing you to buy their wares. You can hardly see social miscreants loitering around the meteropolis. Everybody in Abuja seem to be doing something (my own opinion). Nobody is disturbing the peace. Taxi fares are incredibly cheap. People are not running around and dancing on highways. The air is fresh. The roads are surprisingly good without potholes smiling to finish your shock absorber or puncture your tyres. I dont have to worry about mad and drug induced danfo drivers driving and screaming at the same time. Shockingly, the power situation is too good to be true (22hrs constant power supply in this same Nigeria). Its the people that thrive in the "Madness" of Lagos that are against Fashola. They dread the order he's trying to introduce and are fighting the change as hard as they can.......but change is inevitable. It must come. For progress to occur, some people have to be left behind. Its sad but its the way of the world. |
