Aka road to Nung Udoe road in uyo is a major road people use in going to Eket which is the oil city, hence you will appreciate it's importance was completed in less than the target 18 months, (Arc Nemadi Sambo testified to this since he was the one that did the ground breaking and final commissioning). The road is a 23km world class dual carriage way complete with street lights, covered drains , walkways and even landscaped lawns on each side of the road. And guess what, not only is it toll free but it was constructed by the Chinese.

To show you that isn't a rare feat, just March this year, Julius Berger started the construction of Uyo - Ikot ekpene highway and this is a major road because not only is it the gateway into Uyo , it links Ikot Ekpene with the capital city. Its about 45Km and of course a dual carriage way to world class standard because that's what Akwa Ibomites are now used to. As I speak to today, one lane has been completed for over 60 percent of the journey and the target completion is still 2014. And this a FG road done quietly without blackmailing the FG

Early this year when Akpabio attended 2face traditional marriage he was disappointted about the Eket - Ibeno road and jokingly promised to transform it before 2face returns to dedicate his new child . As a promise keeper , he immediately wrestled the project from NDDC and contracted it to our Chinese friends, so with that you can go to sleep waking up to see a world class road.

You guys just sit in Lagos and worship this Fashola like an idol and believe any rubbish excuses he gives to you guys for his incompetentence. Yea, you heard me well, I said incompetence!

How else do you explain this! Lagos owes over 610 billion , takes decades to complete few KM of roads , or any other infrastructure for that matter , enjoys so much support from private firms in Lagos, yet still collect tolls and heavy taxes from this huge population of Lagosians.

Akwa Ibom owes just 80 billion , has completed more KM of world class roads in 6 years, than the last 14years of Lagos , renovated and equipped more schools and hospitals than your Lagos , built and completed an airport, is building a seaport, building a world class stadium, completed a modern flood control project (the pipe jacking system - 1st of its kind in Africa )yet the roads are toll free , education is free even for non-indigenes (unlike some who deport Nigerians), he even stole money to buy a jet.

Before you shout oil money , note Akwa Ibom budget is 470billion , Lagos is 499billion, meaning Lagos still has more money to spend than Akwa Ibom.

I recommend you travel out of this your glorious Lagos and see how others are building world class cities quietly
Can you compare the population of the sleepy state with that of Lagos?? Developing a Village state is very easy compared to developing a state already overcrowded

Seriously, I now use the above senario to judge people's intelligence on this forum.

People that point out Lagos State's monthly allocation as an advantage without factoring in Population, social problems, congestion, environmental degredation and very Large urban sprawl......probably the largest and most chaotic in Africa sef.

Wish we could start practicing Regionalism with Fashola heading the Western Region.

Most Nigerians like songs they can relate to. There must be a touch of "Nigeria" in a song for them to accept it.

Thank you, Mode9 but i like my Rap "Made in America".....and if its to be "made in Nigeria", come home like Olamide or Phyno.

Engaging Fashola is a no-brainer in attracting attention to himself.

It does make a lot of sense now for eastern travellers. Extra points for G.E.J's administration.

Just because you want Arewa and boko party in Anambra, we will not accept it from you i.diot. Take your Ngige elsewhere, because he has already failed even before the election. Go to Church and redeem your soul, because you are gone to the devil. Anuofi si owelle ba nne ya afo.
This dis-unity that you both are exhibiting is one of the things that hold the Igbos from attaining their full potentials.

Do you ever see an Ondo man and Ogun man insult themselves like this over their State's party affilliationhuh No.

I was slightly shocked on previous threads in which indigenes of different eastern states insult themselves. You need to rise above it.

Welcome to Lagos.

Before I park or turn into a street /road, I now slow down or park and check for any hidden sign-posts. If i don't see any, I still ask from by-standers....just to be extra sure.

I've fallen into their trap b4 and i try to be smarter than them now.

talktimi: "progressives" who abuse igbo people just for being igbo ? Very funny indeed.. Progressives who cant get their points across without hurling insults arent a bunch any right thinking democrat will want to roll with, if you tell me naptu2 is a progressive then i will take you seriously not these ones who shout "akputic" or support internal deportation and dumping of Nigerians by the roadside at 3am in the morning claiming they were reunited with their families.. Sick country sha
Loook, there are people that come across as offensive on the list.....just the same way there were on @Sincere Nigerian's list. But on both sides, there were people that developed that attitude due to the way their way of life, choices and decisions were being insulted.

There are also a lot of guilty ones in your camp too so its kinda balanced. Provided their main aim is a Better Nigeria and not the destruction or downfall of one region, I'm fine with that.

@Papa Browne posted some excerpts from an American forum in which one of them described Lagos as dirty, congested and has to be "DESTROYED" and "REBUILT" for there to be progress....Relocation of people is part of that distruction and also clearing of slums. Its sad but its the price to be paid.

Why are these people poor?? That should be a question for the past Governments to answer.

My name also made this list. I might come off as being a little abusive but the bashing my Political affilliation and my tribe has received on this forum is the cause.

Deep down in me, I would love to see grand projects being undertaken in all regions of this Country. A World class Bridge spanning the Niger River, An Industrial City in Aba, World-class Rail network linking all regions, Cities in all regions having reasons for people to be drawn to them, every Nigerian city being torn down and rebuilt to become something of pride to us all.

I just pray we resist the spirit of hate and tribalism that threatens to consume us. Its only that way we can actually acomplish great things......This Country is getting better and we shouldn't let division tear us apart.

PapaBrowne: DuduNegro,
There is no new reality, Negrontns. That reality you speak of exists only on Nairaland and in the heads of a few other bigots. But I get your point.
No Yoruba man is closing his Zenith Bank account because Jim Ovia is from Agbor. Neither is any Ibo man porting from the Glo network because Adenuga is Yoruba. This nonsense tribalism is getting boring already.

I totally agree that Yorubas are not disrespectful. I have dealings with more Yorubas than I have with other tribes and thier output to me hasn't been disrespectful in any particular way than has that of Ibos or my fellow Edos being.

But what is so pathetic is the attitude displayed here on Nairaland and its beginning to eat into society with the likes of Fani Kayode playing key roles.

We must all wake up to the reality that there is nothing like ownership of an urban center or city by a particular tribe in any modern state. All that kind of imagination is impalpable. If I buy a piece of land and get a certificate of ownership, I own it no matter what tribe I am. There is no law that vests ownership of land on any tribe whether in Lagos or Calabar. Land ownership is vested on either a state or an individual entity. Its just like telling me this tribe owns the air in so so and so place so I should stop breathing it. This is the 21st century.

Like I said earlier, I want to discuss this project in a global context. Its economics and social dynamics. But I obliged your post first because I have always enjoyed your posts from way back and second because I thought third person twist was smart literature.
This your post has a new found maturity to it......Considering your past, I'd still approach with caution for now.

You subsequent posts from now on will judge.

damoobaba: You are just a fool blinded by bigotry.what is the population of uyo compared to that of Lagos? And do u kno dat despite d population and movement of people,d contractors must deliver their projects within d stipulated period?Lagos is a conurbation, which means government MUST be working in evry part of the state and which they r trying very hard to do.If u are not satisfied with the level of commitment the LASG is showing right now,am assuring you there is something wrong with u upstairs.if u want to criticise,do it with ur brains intact and supported with obvious facts nt with ibo (wayo/cheat) feelings.
That same tiny, sparsely populated Uyo?? You pour that type of monthly allocation which they receive into it and nobody should expect less....infact, more is expected sef. That State can fund a project similar to the Eko Atlantic City without stress.

True the infrastructure is good tho and it will come in handy in the future but the work to be done there is miniscule compared to Lagos that almost everywhere is occupied. To work in Lagos, you have to destroy, cause unavoidable pain on commuters, relocate some people......but Akwa-Ibom, just enter bush, clear and start building.

@Topic. Fashola should fix the road so that they'll be one less road for these people to castigate him on. Meanwhile its still foot-paths that criss-cross the equivalent locations in their home states.

They expect Fashola to fix the thousands of roads in Lagos at the same time......meanwhile they'll be comparing it to one location that barely has a hundred. Very "intelligent" of them.

Rossikk: No reason why INNOSON should not be looking into creating Nigeria's first genuinely luxury vehicle. Get some in-house R & D activity going, develop some uniquely African features/decor in it, and give the vehicle a hard African name!

I want to see INNOSON with various car brands bearing names like INNOSON Odiofele 2.0 Hatchback, INNOSON Oriuzo 2.8 Sedan, INNOSON Akpatiego 3.5 (luxury saloon), INNOSON Ichie (limousine), INNOSON Afuluzo 3.8 (SUV) etc etc.
I think they should start with a rival to the Toyota Corolla that has seized Nigerians. Their pricing will definitely under-cut the Corolla.

It makes sense buying a brand New Innoson than some Tokunbo cars that people purchase and waste money fixing.

As much as @Papa Browne has been trying to be neutral on this thread, its his past actions that other posters are reacting to.

The same brains behind this project are hated by him and his people, they insult them at every turn and criticize their every action.....but Which Nigerian politician can be brave enough to look at the raging waves of the Atlantic already eating away at V.I and think...."Let's tame this ocean and a world-class city will rise out of it"??

None!!!....they would choose to run instead. Face it, Tinubu and Fashola are visionaries, head and shoulders above those politicians others choose to glorify.

Keep criticizing them, it will only bring out the best in them while you neglect your own region staring at you in the face pleading for your attention.

The street lights you see driving at night through the Island, Carter bridge, Eko bridge, Surulere, Ikeja, Ikorodu road, Yaba with expanded roads to include sidewalks in locations possible and street signs.

the newly constructed pedestrian bridges,

those dirty markets by the roads that are no more, the posters that were stuck all over walls and bridges defacing them, the shanties attached to foot of bridges.

lawlessness by public transporters, the end of the Molue bus,
T
the disappearance of rubbish heaps by the roads,

the garbage trucks that come pick up dirt once a week,

the current re-construction of Ikorodu rd, Badagry expressway,

The LASG estates springing up around,

The hospitals and maternity centers around.

Those amoured vehichles the police use.

The lekki link bridge (Have you seen a bridge like that in Nigeria in your life?? ), the mushin isolo link bridge.

The beautification of Ikorodu road and other locations that were previously hide-outs for miscreants and illegal markets.

The elevated rail lines(Have you seen any project like that in Nigeria in your life)??

I can go on and on......well if you choose to still remain blind, its your loss but be careful who you choose as your intellectuals......the blind looking up to the blind for direction.

See how good looking Botswana is and they don't have oil ooo.....There is life outside oil except for f00ls.

Meanwhile some people will be screaming "World Class development" for some rural looking projects here in Nigeria.

We need agressive infrastructural development without sentiments of letting slums thrive because "they are poor", the kind Fashola is attempting all over Nigeria to be able to catch up in 10-15 years.

The SW is now being driven by ideas and moving more and more towards self-determining autonomy, through usage of instruments such as PPP arrangements which cost the government and people very little.

Folks like you who should be busy charging your own leaders to pay attention and do the right thing are too obsessed over the affair of others to note your own house is on fire.

Better start, for the sake of your children, understanding the need to hold your own very deficient leaders accountable and charging them to learn from the good things others are doing instead of backing them clannishly and ignoring their maladministration while you focus senselessly and 24/7 on the affair of others who are moving in the right direction. This is another project simulating the Eko Atlantic model. Go and jump in a lake if you cannot appreciate urban development Ogun folks do not have to pay for.

Why is it that its mostly easterners that oppose Fashola's Govt?? Considering their own definition of a well Governed State is Akwa-Ibom, A state that barely has a population of 5 million, tiny urban sprawls and receives more allocation than Lagos State with a far larger urban sprawl( you can hardly find undeveloped areas ) and population shows the level of intelligence in the foundation of their arguements.

No one is above criticism but the fixation on Fashola is stoopid considering the fact that their own States are doin far worse and they choose to ignore that fact.

Its a reflection of Nigeria, that's why the nation is backwards. The majority are and they'll oppose anyone that tries to effect change just to justify their backwardness.

I also noticed this trend of large numbers of "likes" on highly stupid posts. Its also a reflection of the fact that there are more unintelligent people in this country than intelligent ones.......
