IYA NGBALI: they don't even have a place to call their home anymore, erosion don finish their land, awon omo ale.We need to avoid comments like this. It only generates more hate. |
Fashola has been working....Drove round Surulere yesterday night and almost all the major streets had sidewalks and street lights. I linked Ikorodu road and it was also well lit at night....Till i linked up to the FG road leading from Oshodi to Ibadan Express and darkness resumed. He need to replicate this in Alimosho-Ayobo axis too. |
sooper rescue: Nothing changed in the new Range Rover Sport. All the options are the same with the 2011 model. It is only the extra seats at the rear that was added and the new cockpit. Which roads were you talking about? Range Rover Sport does not have good off road capabilities. I was stuck in the mud in Games Village for two hours on a rainy day in my RRS and all the terrain options could do nothing. I waded thru river niger when it overwhelmed the express way and I had my headlight charger burnt.I change my bushings every time I travel from Lagos to Abuja with the jeep. As for performance, no comparison. Driving a supercharged RRS on regular unleaded fuel is going to cause grievous wahala for the owners so no need to be envious of the latest model when we that are using the ancien modele are still waiting for Nigeria to start selling premium fuel.I really don't know what to think since you drive one......But one of the signs of a good car in Nigeria is that they're plentiful on the Streets. RRS is all over Nigerian roads and apart from its high fuel consumption, I think you just had a couple of bad days with the SUV. |
anonimi: IF Mr. Fashola can reduce to the barest minimum the stealing of Lagos funds by himself, his godfather and their other political cronies there will be more than enough to provide housing for Lagos residents from whom he derives over 60% of his budgeted revenue. If the Federal Government can reduce the size of their cabinet, cost of Government and money lost due to oil theft, there should be money left to provide subsidized housing for these people. Why must it be Fashola that should solve this Mega Slum problem created by the Nigerian System over decades on the same allocation Lagos receives. I developed a proposal for mass housing that slum dwellers can pay for over time but after research, I discovered that it would still end up being a better built slum and it wouldn't be profitable. Its their frame of mind that can turn "Miami-Florida" to a slum so its education they need, not free housing. |
redsun: I just feel sorry for you guys, when the things you are wishing for happens, you will grossly regret it.You will become valueless.Just think about detroit in america then maybe you can get a glimpss of how a once thriving city can crumble easily as a result of inactivitiesLagos has been the economic hub of West Africa for over 200 years. Its not going to change because some Igbo traders stop selling spare-parts and Computers. |
A loan has to be paid back. How u goin to make your money back investing in those that don't have money?? I mean, this is common sense na. |
I think the time to start advocating for Biafra is ripe. |
kettykin: Please Can you be kind enough to point out the fantasy or at least bring you facts to back up your fantasy claimsIts not as easy as you put it. You forget the human factor. Greed might set in and prices remain at par with Lagos with the sellers having a higher profit margine. Business men also follow where the market population is. You also need reasons to convince the ordinary citizen to relocate eastward alongside the business men. The social aspect is highly dependent on the local population receiving the immigrants.... |
anonimi: Did you see my earlier post about the Onile Gogoro low cost housingGood intentions....but are they possible at the moment?? At who's expense will those houses be built?? At what cost?? Are you aware that Lagos State India and Brazil have some of the worst housing situations in the World?? That allocation you're talking about can't do squat.....It can't even run the State and that's why he's resorted to taxation......Which brought it up to par with Akwa-Ibom, a state that has approx 5million people. Is that fair?? The responsibility of providing housing for them is beyond him for now, what he's doin is building Middle class apartments to provide for the growing middle class and sucking up money in the process to further run the State. The State needs money to be run and continue its growth and that money won't come from building houses for the poor. You need like a special grant to achieve that purpose. |
On a serious note, Lagos and Nigeria needs the Ibaka Sea port. The pressure on the Lagos ports is overwhelming it and it needs to be relieved. Ibaka Sea port is the solution. It should also help balance out a bit that uneven migratory pattern of people flocking to Lagos to do any meaninful business. |
anonimi: The FG is not the only arm of government, please. There is no other State in Nigeria developing as fast as Lagos right now. Its sad, it hurts me when i see people displaced but logically, I have come to terms with it that its the price that must be paid for that development. A couple of people will bear the brunt of it but 10yrs down the line, more will benefit from it. Imagine the Facility managing companies that will provide employment to service these estates. The whole of Nigeria can't be left looking like one great big ghetto. We want our environment to improve without paying the price. Fashola relocating them all is another issue, their population runs into the millions. Providing housing for that number, would it be free?? Can the State even afford it?? Money should be specially allocated for this purpose from the FG if Fashola's to include housing one of the largest number of slum dwellers in the World in his responsibilities. |
I was called to test drive one last week in Asokoro and check that everything is ok. Meeeeeeennnnnnnn, this car is a dream to drive although its the 3.0 supercharged, the power Is awesome.
The Supercharged 3.0 V-6 is a more reasonably option, its fast and it saves fuel better than the 5.0 spercharged V-8. Its faster than an Suv should be. Its crazy. |
Why don't the anti-poor activists online take their cries to the FG on why 75percent of Nigerians are poor and stop ranting that Fashola should provide housing for the dwellers of one of the largest slum collections in the World. Is he Jesus?....or the United Nations??....or world Bank??....or even the Federal Government?? He's just a Governor in one of the 36 states in Nigeria. |
If you can't afford to live in Lagos, move elsewhere. Its not by force. So the whole Nigeria should remain one big ghetto because of the poor?? Don't feel confused when some posts screaming "Anti poor" get lots of "likes"....there are more people that lack common sense in Nigeria and the world than the few that do. There has to be sacrifices for progress to be made. This is one of it. |
iresearcher: A lot of people on this thread are so deluded. You are always crying for the poor yetThank you!!!....I've been away but I'v managed to pay two people money for the service they rendered me and i refered one for another job. 3 people will smile home to their families because of me today and i thank God for being able to affect people with the opportunities i receive. I am only able to help the poor if they have a skill. They only advocate online for the poor to feel righteous. Very sentimental lot, I try to be logical in all my dealings not emotional. Ask them what they've done for the poor today and I'm sure the answer is "Nothing". |
deeptesting: Mr. Man I have only said you belong to the group of mental poverty.....Live and let those of material poverty live. You think you "know" but you really don't. Your learning hasn't even started yet. |
deeptesting: Just as we have material poverty we also have mental poverty....Now you know the group where you belong, tell me what should be done to that group because they also constitute public nuisance both to our physical environment and public forums like NL.I supervise construction sites so i make sure i employ them....only if they're skilled. If they have a skill and they're good at it, I use them as my constant workers in any site i'm on. I have workers i'v been using for years now. They must have a skill for me to help them and if they don't, I hire them as site labourers. If they obtain skills and people related to their area of specialization hire them, they'll be less poor on the streets. We all have a part to play, not just the Government. The educational system isn't helping too when they train people to be job seekers not job creators. |
taharqa: Oh! SHUT ya mouth tha, my frnd. You usuali post sensible comments on NL, but there are few times where it seem you miss a nolt smwhere in ya head.....@topic, d Lagos State Govt has a history of bn Anti-poor. Its a CONSISTENT history. No surprises tha. Though, I disagree with d data that suggests 70% of Lagos is Slum. That's not possible...The poor have their excesses and they need to be curtailed. They have been allowed to overun the environment in the past without being touched....."Because they're poor". I didn't drive today, I walked from Jibowu to Yaba and some of the poor i saw will be better off in their villages. When a "poor" man sees a large body of water, he sees a refuse bin and a toilet while those not poor see beauty and a place of relaxation they'd pay to live by. Its the same way the poor view the environment around them. I'm against total segregation of them but they should still be checks and balances in place to curtail their excesses. |
In order for there to be progress, some people have to be left behind. Imagine someone on the thread on the new mode of advertisement saying that "why explore new modern modes of advertsement in the midst of all this poverty"?? We can't keep ignoring their short comings because they're poor. It due to that that we now have mega slums, stoopid danfo drivers, dangerous Okada riders, people sleeping under the bridges when they would have been better off in their villages living in a hut and making a decent living farming. This thread is a reflection of Nigeria, not just Lagos. Other cities are no different. Okadas were banned in Lagos, okadas were banned in countless Nigerian cities, Lagos deports destitutes, other cities deport destitutes too, Approximately 75 percent of Lagosians live in slums.....Approximately 75 percent of Nigerians are poor......see any pattern?? |
Sir, There is a big difference between Laws & Projects.. From my observations: Lagos projects are targeted at the RICH While the laws are made to make life difficult for the POOR
Who are the hands that execute these projects?? The rich initiate them and the poor are used to execute them. Those laws were put in place to check the menace the poor were becoming. We shouldn't let them ruin everything because they're "poor". |
You can create another thread about any governor you wish to criticise.. As long as this thread exist.. We will continue to talk about the fraudulent slogan "eko o ni baje" targeted to edify the poor in Lagos..
So you're now an advocate for the poor all over Nigeria or just Lagos alone?? You better adopt a Nationwide stance because anything less than that reeks of an attempt at cheap Political points. |
FreeGlobe: I guess these projects being commissioned are all situated in Mars right?Only the blind can't see when its right in front of them.....are you blind?? |
FreeGlobe: Absolute rubbish. cities transform by lifting inhabitants out of poverty, creating opportunities that will lift the poor out of poverty not forced transformation into megacity. Fashola thinks by alienating the poor from Lagos, Lagos will turn to new York, London etc. lol. leader indeed! and 80% of these poor are yorubas btw.Where do you guys keep getting these your statistics from?? People just keep pouring in and he must lift them all out of poverty?? Is he Jesus performing mass miracles?? The fact that under his Administration, not a lot of Nigerian cities can touch some Local Govts in Lagos says a lot about his efforts. |
FreeGlobe: Shut it, O.D.B just caught you pants down in your bid to turn this thread to another igbo/yoruba fight and like the corny person you are you backtracked, you Yoruba irredentistAnd who the f*ck are you?? |
I thought this thread was developed so we can share our point of views but it seems its just another political smear campaign against Fashola. I'll love to hear what your Governors are doing about "The poor". By the time you look up from your Laptops and smart-phones, Fashola would have commissioned another project. Sit there and criticize him while your regions continue to wallow in obscurity. So busy bending over to see Fashola's ars*hole they forget theirs is wide open. |
Due to neglect by the past millitary Administrators, I'v watched Lagos decay. Existing slums grew larger, new ones sprang up and expanded due to that daft migratory pattern of Nigerians......( Result of the Money is in Lagos mentality). For the first time, someone is doing something to put this in check and some people are argueing that he should keep providing for their ever increasing number?? Can't your state Governors do that?? Must it be Fashola?? Look, those days of coming to Lagos to come live under bridges, wandering the streets jobless is over. This is the simple message Fashola is trying to pass across. |
and fascist. The same callous behavior was displayed when fascist fash sacked the entire lagos state striking doctors. Not caring of who will care for the poor who are forced to patronize their hospices.
Are you really concerned about the poor?? This is just some Political score you're on about. Why don't you employ some and reduce their number, rather that pointing fingers at Fashola trying to discourage the senseless Migratory pattern of Nigerians that troop to the State he's governing putting pressure on the sparce resources and infrastructure he's trying to develop?? |
Now you are blaming other tribes for the squalid condition of Lagos. Yorubas are privately and publicly dirty. check out ibadan and other yoruba states
Every tribe is resident in those slums....See that i included Yorubas in my list. |
so u don gree say there are a lot of igbos in lagos now? by the way i am not igbo. you just cant help towing the tribal line, abi?
Where did i mention Igbo?? Regardless of your tribe, Igbo, Hausa, Nupe, Ibibio, Yoruba....Your people are resident in those slums. Other States envy Lagos due to it being the economic capital of Nigeria but fail to observe its downside in a Country like Nigeria. Once a city eg Uyo hits an economic boom and people start migrating there, voila!!!....Slums must follow suit and in Nigeria where 75percent are poor, it's going to be a reflection of the porpotion of slums. |
millennium slum village
Populated by your people. |
