Are these posters above me really concerned about the poor living in Lgos slums??....Or they just want to poke fun and feel all righteous?? Well, it doesn't stop the fact that when told to post positive developments and locations in their home states, they'll struggle to fill a page while Lagos will probably run for over 10. You all better know that a large number of your people constitute the occupants of those slums and them returning home will do the LASG a big favour so that they can demolish what they left behind and replace it with housing estates. SMH at how they leave their villages to come expand the slums in Lagos, this is exactly what Fashola is trying to stop and they're busy screaming "He's anti-people" only to come back and laff at the slums they help create. |
platinumricky: i hope they hv ironed out most of its reliability issues, modern day landrovers are notorious for making repair garages their natural habitat.Man i hope so too....I was at Owode-Onirin not too long ago and LR3s and RRS were quite plentiful there for sale and scrap. |
As for the ladies, people staring at you at bustops or in traffic and drivers of the previous generation Range Rover Sports, none was harmed in the making of this review. Yet, in Nigeria, people with the money may see this SUV as just another lamb on the menu. Don't be fooled: Under that nicely painted aluminum skin is a wolf. And it's hungry. If Range Rover Sports were getting too plentiful on Nigerian roads, its time to seperate the boys from the men. You've got the keys?? ......Now put your shades on and drive. |
A big story with the Range Rover Sport is how much weight it has lost. It's as if Princess(The female comedien) suddenly shows up looking like Genevieve. From its all-aluminum unibody structure and use of high-strength steel components to lightweight suspension parts and body panels, the Range Rover Sport sets a new standard for weight reduction. The Range Rover Sport even has an eco-friendly theme -- something you don't hear often when discussing 500-plus-hp SUVs. Up to 75 percent of its aluminum comes from recycled materials; there are recycled plastics (59 pounds), and, technically, leather is renewable. Leather is also a key feature to that beautiful interior. The 14-way-adjustable front seats are heated and cooled and just one massage session away from perfect. The riding position is very upright, making it extremely comfortable for long hauls. The second row can serve as two lounge chairs if you fold down the center portion, which becomes an armrest and cupholder. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the Range Rover Sport provides an optional third row that can accommodate two kids or slim chics for the trip to your Lekki apartment. There's very little you can't get with the new Range Rover Sport, and very little more you should want.

Now it will do it even quicker. Under that beautifully sculpted clamshell hood is either a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 or a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. Really, the V-6 with 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque is more than enough power to flog the Range Rover Sport through Third Mainland bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway or any road in Abuja. Land Rover estimates its 0-60-mph time as 6.9 seconds, but the Sport feels faster than that. The 5.0 V8 is the revelation here. It dispatches 0-60-mph (approx 95km/h) in 5.0 seconds. This is one of the fastest cars/suvs you'll ever meet on Nigerian roads....It can move faster than a badly driven Porshe 911. If you're truely in the mood, no one can overtake you in this car.
|
Overall, the Range Rover Sport is 2.5 inches longer than its predecessor, but the wheelbase has increased by 7 inches. The proportional changes give this Rover a much more aggressive and streamlined appeal. And don't underestimate the luxury SUV's brute off-road capabilities. The Range Rover Sport will get you and 6 passangers nearly anywhere in this world and also through any flooded or pot-holed road Nigeria has to offer.
|
Redesigned from the frame up, Land Rover has turned its sportiest SUV into the preferred family-vehichle and chics magnet for those who like to show they demand the very best in SUVs. The Range Rover Sport still has its iconic and stately looks. The sharp angles and blocky sections from the previous generation have been rounded out and correctly proportioned. The old design felt as if it was designed by a brick-layer while its new look feels more elegant.
|
Are Range Rover sports getting too common on Nigerian roads for your taste?? Introducing..... The rumble of the new 2014 Range Rover Sport is so powerful, it can make chics you've spent your whole life dreaming about fall in love with you....Instantly. That's a handy attribute if you're driving through UNILAG, where girls outnumber people three to one.

The 2nd Niger Bridge should be a start. |
redsun: This is what nigeria is known for,it is not just aba.Nigerians everywhere in the country find it normal living in filths like pigs. When you think people living in slums like orile, oshodi, ajegunleikotu, portharcort, kano, you get goose pimples.Your head is stuck in the 1990's. When last have u seen those locations. |
All Ngige needed to have done was to bring out large wads of Naira-notes and *made it rain*. The story would have been different by now. |
collynzo2: serious countries are generating electricity with coal, our govt is here deceiving them selves with gas plants. 100 gas plants will not solve half of our electricity problems in this country. If you can't build more dams, embrace coal!!I believe Enugu has large deposits of Coal.....wasting away i guess. Nigeria and this oil curse sha. |
Odenigbo Aroli: Well, you probably has never been to Lagos. Let me have you know that there has been lots of bloody fight in Balogun,Idumota and Nnamdi Azikiwe between alaye boys and Igbo traders and guess who resorted to running and only show at night to burn people stall ? Your evil minded alaye brothers! Look,if you think you are gonna intimidate the Igbo to abandone their property and leave Lagos to you to inherit then I must say you are an iideot! You can add Lagos to the number of city of RUINS!Dude, that's a lie. My grandma lived on Lagos Island and i remember visiting her when the place was filled with Brazillian styled bungalows and there was no Igbo present there, it was serene. I still vividly remember when those dubious developers started building those substandard, multi-storey buildings packed together with shops on their ground-floors in the mid to late 80's. That heralded the massive influx of Igbo spare-part traders that turned the whole hood into one big, dirty, rowdy market. I remember countless fights i'v personally witnessed between Area-boys and Igbo traders and I know how they stab and machete Igbo traders b4 throwing them off Carter-Bridge. You know there's trouble once you hear the sound of Igbo traders hurriedly closing the metal roller shutters of their shops. The local residents used to hide some of them or inform them on how to escape. Don't say what you don't know. I'm a witness. Lagos has been existing and has been economically important for over a century before the Igbos moved in and will continue when you leave. |
To those saying "Lagos is deporting people and what not".....Do you see destitutes, beggers, road-side hawkers, dirty looking traders on those roads in the pics?? The truth is Abuja has been structured in a way that 90% can't afford to live there unlike Lagos that every Tom, Dick and Harry, dogs and Goats can wander in and start doing what they like in the streets. Abuja doesn't need to deport destitutes because they can't afford to live there anyway. Now which is more welcoming?? @Topic. Lovely roads we have there but it still trash considering the fact that MMA is of far more economic importance but has been neglected. I hope they really plan on fixing it soon because that's another smear on the current Government. |
Sincere 9gerian: But Ghana is generating only 2,000MWGhana shouldn't be our benchmark for any reason. |
Ikengawo: no, it's about a billboard. It's about a very expensive billboard in the midst of poverty. cutting edge technology would by the LSG or a Nigerian inventing this and profiting from it to add to our national wealth, but that's not the case. Taxpayer money is going into the purchase of billboard that will display products. It's a billboard. So because there's poverty, the whole nation should refrain from upgrading modes of advertisement?? This is more than the billboard, why is it only Lagos that keeps adopting progressive ideas?? If other States were moving at half the pace Lagos is, Nigeria would certainly be a better place in little time. Very soon, you'll wonder why Lagos keeps getting better while other cities keep looking rural. |
ezeagu: Let's say the truth: The Igbo middle class is based in the distant over-crowded city called Lagos, they have created a whole society there and are embedded in the land. The only thing that's going to move them back to eastern Nigerian is a serious transformation in that region (which will not happen because they are needed for that), or if they are physically moved (Igbo people in Kano, for example, are only JUST moving because Boko Haram physically entered Kano and physically blew themselves up in their face, despite bombings happening all over Northern Nigeria for over a year, and pogroms for over 40).You speak as if there are no middle class Igbos in the East. Its left to the millions of them dwelling in the East to utillize the port. It will save them the cost of trasportation from Lagos and force prices of goods down. Its a positive development for the S.E/S.S parts of Nigeria. |
They are all too busy criticizing Lagos State to see what's going on around them. |
Am appalled and stupendously baffled that our megawatts are dropping like a ripen mango. During the dry season, the FG will tell us that there is no water to power the Hydro stations. During the raining season, they will also tell us that the rain has caused irreparable loss and damage to the power generating hydro plants. For the past one month, I have been buying petrol of over 30k per month just to service my freezer, yet, I will still pay for the pre-paid phcn bill. Is this how we gonna continue in this country. Then if we talk, some people would shut you down and even call for your head just because we are asking questions. How much is my salary when am using almost half of the salary to service electricity?? Yet, u still have your wife and children to cater for....the only thing that could make me stop shouting is if the FG and GEJ apologists could start sending into my acct money to fuel my generators.
Is this the same Jingo, OAU?? RD 12 ![]() |
Sincere 9gerian: Power generation level will always fluctuate until we build enough power generation capacity so much so that if there's any short fall in any power plant or gas distribution line, it wouldn't affect the national grid. If Nigeria was generating like 40,000 megawatts, the loss of 2,000 megawatts or so reported on this thread wouldn't have affected the national grid. In fact, nobody would have known as the relevant engineers would have silently sought for the problem and fixed it. The president and his team will continue to do what is HUMANLY possible to ramp up generation capacity. Unfortunately, there are bad elements in the society who continue to sabotage govt's efforts. Nigerians are Nigeria's greatest enemy. People complain of lack of power but at the same time sabotage govt's efforts. These sabotage may even be the handiwork of opposition elements. The govt cannot secure every inch of the gas, crude oil, petroluem products, etc pipelines.Your excuses are lame today. We're talking about constant drop in electricity despite the money spent and you're talking about APC. What concerns APC with that?? If G.E.J doesn't fix this before 2015, the oposition have a legitimate smear on him to use in campaign. Rather than try defending this, you better look for how the message gets across to him that this is 2013 and people are getting impatient. Why blame G.E.J?? Because he's the Head. |
Dino Melaye....No doubt. |
Fashola, best Governor in Nigeria, makes other Governors look like Local Government Chairmen. #FACT# |
Am very sure that 90percent of us here are novice when it comes to aviation business. As a Cabin Crew, I still know some details concerning the passenger traffic. Those things some of us know are little compared to those things we do not know. Some of us just concluded prematurely that Igbos constitute over 50percent of air travellers in Nigeria, and I laugh. As a cabin crew, before a flight take off, we already have the flight manifest with us where passengers name are written. Let me divert our attention a bit, Aminu Kano int'l airport in Kano carries more passengers than all the south east airports combined both local and international flights. Infact, most flights coming from Libya, lebanon, malaysia, egypt, saudi arabi, Dubai, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Georgia, and some other middle east countries are populated by the Hausas. All these flights are restricted to the nothern part of Nigeria, especially for those Hausa traders who import and export their goods. 95percent of Hausa traders ply Kano airport instead of Lagos for international flight. Infact, all the hajj and umrah operations concerning Hausas are done in Kano. Let it be clear to most of us here that flights originating frm LOS to Kaduna, kano, Maiduguri, abuja, and some other less important airports are populated by Hausa traders. Nevertheless, in as much am not disputing the fact that Igbos do travel a lot. Their travellings only peak once in a year and dats during december alone. For the northerners, they travel everynow and then, but dey dnt stay permanently in foreign countries. The reason no airports in southwest of Nigeria carries more passenger is cos of proximity to Lagos. It will definitely make no business sense for another airport to be situated in Ogun state. For instance, southwest of Nigeria is as big as Ghana, yet the whole of Ghana only have Kotoka int'l airport as d main functional airport. Its very much better for any passenger residing in ibadan, abeokuta, oshogbo, etc to drive straight to Lagos rather than boarding an unnecessary flight direct frm their source. Moreso, some people even talk as if we are so rich in this country. How many nairalander has travelled out of this country not to talk of travelling with an aeroplane within Nigeria. And yet, some idiots would be beating their chest that their ancestors travelled more than others when in actual sense, they are limited to their erosion-driven region doing farming.
Pls, is this the same Road 12 OAU Staff Quarters Jingo?? |
onila: smooching in my high school was when a guy rubs yr butt or as,sWhat's so "steamy" about that??.....What if he had held you from behind firmly so you couldn't escape and kissed the back of your neck while his other hand slid underneath your dress?? Would you call that "fire"?? Una never start sef. |
ballabriggs: Apart from Lagos, I do not think any other Airport in Nigeria is viable. They do not even publish financial statements for these Airports, so how are we meant to assess performance? The airports are still being run like motor parks with no defined strategy.Thank you. What's the percentage of Nigerians that can afford to fly by air that we're all of a sudden being bombarded by Airports?? This is a case of misplaced priorities. |
Royal Roy: Always spitting!!Spitting is not a sign of epilepsy.....Its a sign of Pregnancy. The dude is pregnant. @ Topic: I don't believe this story. So a celebrity can't pose beside a flasy car again without these bloggers blogging that she owns it?? Same way they said Vector bought a Bentley meanwhile he posed by it during a video shoot. |
Someone once told me that whenever he's travelling by road, he know's he's in the South-West once the roads start getting bad. Lagos has the highest internally generated revenue but this only brings it to par with Akwa-Ibom. Lagos also has the highest population compared to Akwa-Ibom that's still a sleepy State. Its situations like this that brings about creativity and innovation. Watch Lagos continually solve problems foisted on it by the FG and gain experience, develop wiser and its inhabitants regardless of tribe get smarter than the rest of Nigeria. By the time you all look up from your PCs, tablets and smartphones, Southwest would have further left Nigeria behind. |
