Fashola should know that no matter how noble his policies may seem to him, it may not be the best for the citizens. So, it's his perogative to weigh the pro and the cons and not necessarily take the suggestions of the populace because to him, his policies may seem a noble one. But he should not come out to make assertions that paint him as a dictator who know one should question or criticize. he should listen to the people he governs and not let his position get into his head because what goes around will definitely come around. he won't be there forever.

If you want to put an end to each region agitating and clamouring for a bit more from the centre, then the right thing to do would be to restructure the country in such a way that there's at least 80% resource control, and the centre is weakened considerably with less power over the regions/states......let everyone should answer im papa name; let states like Akwa Ibom for instance get the benefits of their God-given wealth, and states in the south east can enter into business partnerships with foreign firms/countries to sell their own oil and gas without waiting for approval from the centre; also states in the south east could build 'proper' and functional river ports for the easy evacuation and importation of goods, and team up with south south states to build an intergrated rail network and a deep-sea port at Ibaka; also, south east states would have the resources to build a world-class int'l airport in cities like Enugu, Owerri and Onitsha without having to wait for funds from the centre.

The possibilities for greatness are endless!

Your leaders gave us the center like agui ironsi did with his unification decree which abolished regional administration.

Listen to this Olodo. This is a voter approved project that authorized the state to raise bond $10 billion bond money for the project. It was prop 1A and I personality voted for this project. The only federal participation is federal matching fund .

I never said hotel patronage does not help the economy...but i said if that is your criteria for measuring the flux of tourist then port harcourt and owerri are the biggest tourist destination because hotels in this city are full, though expensive all year round. Lastly, the speed rail in California is a state project funded with bonds approved and raised by the people of California so get your facts right, you are not talking to mumu.

Hotels don't make money from huge patronage? Are you from dumb land.

Huge patronage means more revenue to create more jobs by hiring more people, huge patronage means they use more supplies and they have to go back to the market to restock used supplies, meaning they are recycling the money and injecting it into the local economy. When the hotels are busy, it means everybody is making money from the cab drivers to suppliers like food and drink suppliers, toiletries suppliers and the state.

It's a win win situation for everybody.

Events like this insects money into the local economy, it creates jobs. In many places , cities fight and lobby to host such events because of the economic potentials and job creation. This is how you boost your local economy and create jobs.
