bolajess: @Gbawe .. I am not a perfect guy neither are you and this is a discussion .. if there was only Aregbesola and Oyinlola on the ballot, I would vote Aregbesola but we all should be honest and not argue blindly .. I have learned my lessons from the last general elections when I voted GEJ because I couldn't trust that Buhari wasnt a religious or ethnic bigot. GEJ is just too bad beyond bad.

However for the allocation, Aregbesola took N25B loan and mind you he met N9B in the state covers ( being the unspent balance from the N18.6B loan Oyinlola took), and after that he took another bond of N65B. So use your head and add that up with you almost N2B a month and tell me what you get in almost 25 Months. Mind you, Aregbesola had a budget of over N120B in almost 2 years. So tell me something else.

I urge you to fight these idiots rather than praise them. Mind you Aregbe in 2 years hasn't commissioned any single road project successfully completed. Rather it is always noise. He said Mimiko was stupid for claiming to build mega schools and yet he is deceiving himself that he is building mega schools.
Unfortunately for you, we see and post on NL everyday the positives he's doing with his people's money so your argument is baseless and irrelevant.

afam4eva: It's people like you that have forced this forum to this ridiculous level of tribal bigotry and when the owner of the forum steps in to save the reputation of his forum, you're
here sounding like Gani Fawehinmi. Remove the log from your eyes before attempting to do that for others.

I'm even surprised Seun has not banned you.
Shut your mouth. This tribal warrior and bigoted clown too is talking. Have you looked in the mirror lately?

funkybaby: Well, that's because the government of Nigeria has not come out to condemn his book. Duh! undecided which isn't surprising since we've got a slowpoke as president.

If he had tried such stunt during OBJ's tenure, OBJ would have put him in his place !

You fail to realise that what Achebe has succeeded in achieving is re-igniting the fires of tribal hatred between Ibos and Yorubas IN A GENERATION that wasn't even born when the civil war occurred. The bloody book went viral around the world!

Which right thinking 'elder statesman' does that? undecided

Why didn't he write the memoirs when the likes of Adesanya and Awolowo were still alive?

He deserves all the shame, insults and much more he's been receiving.
This is what he labeled a minor mistake. I can't even take dude seriously, his thinking is very elementary.

Seun: @desola: What I understand from your rant is that you don't like Prof. Achebe, and by extension you don't like me for trying to prevent him from being shamed on Nairaland. This is unfortunate. You can't compare my action to June 12 because the election IBB annulled was a constructive election; the goal was not to shame any tribe or individual but to honour the winner with the presidential position. The hall of shame election is the exact opposite of that, and that's why many people are glad that it's been phased out. Nairaland should not be in the business of shaming great men over minor mistakes and tribal prejudice. That is simply unacceptable, in my opinion.
Don't you mean in your selective and misguided opinion?

You lack credibility in this area and you need to find some other reasons to base your dubious and anti democratic actions on, this is even worse than JUNE 12. Achebe is a great man is a figment of your own personal imagination, it's your own personal cup of tea so don't force that warped opinion on the rest of us.

If that bitter, divisive and tribalisc old fool is a great man and must not lambasted, what about other great men that the same idiots on NL you are pandering to drag on the floor and rubbish everyday? What's wrong with your selective opinion lens? It's too defective to spot all that on your website even when the same clowns are on your front page as we speak doing the same thing to other people? The same useless people open threads everyday just to rubbish other people and you are here doing holy holy over some mean spirited and die hard tribastic bigot whose only mission in life is to write books just to trash other Nigerians, keep diving us and making sure that we remain divided. In 2012, is this your idea of a great man? Please stop insulting our intelligence with your kangaroo and bogus opinion.

From the tons of reactions to his tribalistic rants and demeaning books by people outside his ibo community, is it not obvious that he's nobody's great man but a non repentant mean old fool and bigot.?

You can spin your wicked moves anyway you want, the results and voice of the majority stands. Ashebe is in the hall of shame.

Gbawe: My guy, when you have evidence, why not use it to convict the brazen criminal swaggering around foolishly with his gang of unthinking thugs? There is nothing I detest more in life than a man who cannot be honest with himself. I even tell friends that self-delusional folks should never have kids because they will only give Nations dishonest and worthless citizens like the ones on Nairaland who peddle lies daily.

Even if you don't like a person, be decent enough to admit what the world knows to be true about that person. Doing otherwise, for whatever reason, just reveals a fraudulent and hateful nature. When the entire world acknowledges Muhammed Alli to be the greatest boxer in history, one must question the sanity of a person who claims Alli was a crap boxer and that Audley Harrison was the best ever !!!!

The funny thing these losers don't understand is that Karma is a b1tch. Running around trying to deny the undoubted ability, talent and success of others just means success will remain elusive to those type of hateful souls. These insecure losers are only trying to discredit Fashola because they and their mediocre messiah, GEJ, feel threatened by a man hailed high and low, home and abroad, as an achiever and a genuinely transformational leader. Pathetic.
I see what you are saying, it's just that these clowns don't care about all that, they are trolling and you are getting trolled along. There is no sense proving what doesn't need any kind of proof.

ekt_bear: So before people vote on who wins the NL Hall of Shame, nairalanders a whole should also vote to see if the nominee is legitimate? grin

What is the point of that roundabout process? Why not have people just vote once, rather than twice? Nobody does the roundabout procedure you are suggesting anywhere in the world.

Look, anybody should be qualified to be nominated, so long as they meet the qualifications.

Do you also suggest this strange procedure for ALL elections on Nairaland? Or just this particular one for hall of shame?

Using your suggestion, then so long as a candidate has 50%+ of Nairalanders who support him, he won't be nominated. I'm guessing that GEJ wouldn't have made it last year, for example.

See, this is the whole r3tarded thing about Seun's argument, that a majority of people support Achebe.

Fine, let's say that 60% of Nairalanders and Nigerians support him. But that 40% strongly oppose him.

If he has the highest "strongly oppose" # of all of the candidates, and all others are below 40%, then isn't it logical for Achebe to win the hall of shame?

How can one use the people who LIKE a person to determine who wins hall of shame? It makes zero sense.
Very well said, but logic and common sense is something he knows nothing about especially when his argument is a reflection of the same devisive and hate book he's defending.

Process matters only when its in their favor. Dude is a despicable hypocrite.

With keen interest, I have followed almost all Biafran/Ojukwu thread, but mostly NEVER commented, and I must say, after reading all the back ad forth exchange, you dare tell me we're united, I'm compelled to say you're not telling yourself the truth.

Therefore, don't speak about moral justification whereas you're lacking it...Good luck yall

Divided Nigeria we stand...
You are trying not to get into biafra talk, but this is about biafra, ashebe is about biafra, his book is about biafra. As usual, you are not making any sense and don't know how to make any sense. So what are you doing here.

manny4life: NO DUDE, the elements of division has always been there - greed, injustice, unfairness, etc.

Division doesn't start all a sudden, something breeds it. If you sow a seed of discord, you will reap division.

I guess Biafrans all of a sudden wanted division without injustice meted out to them?

This Biafra issue has be argued favorably and unfavorable numerous time, I'm not about to engage in it.
And other tribes don't want it as well? LOL, your thought on "Nigerian Unity" is indeed "PERFECT", what can I say.

You talk about ripple effect particularly here on NL is just fuc.king joke. Like seriously, I don't care about whatever the effect is on here. Seriously, let's wuit talking about "ripple effect" like it means some sh.it whereas it doesn't. The people involved in the "ripple effect" circle, are very well known, so why should I honor their words?

Isn't it funny how no one else wants division, yet they encourage discord and claim one side wants it? Therefore, if you claim no one else but Biafrans wanted division till date, I guess that explains the double-sided very well known to you.
Have you asked ashebe why he commited the fact that he was part of the biafran army, he was part of the same biafran government that denied his own people food, that he was part of the same biafran government that terrorized, invaded, subjugated and killed other minorities. What about fairness on their behalf including all the people ibo slaughtered in 66.?

You have no moral claim to any form of fairness till you acknowledge what you did to other people. Hypocrites..

manny4life: Is it not amazing how you guys claim "cause division", YET, you your thought and action speak otherwise. What other division is he tryna cause that hasn't been there since the Biafran war or perhaps since independence? I guess when the opinion of someone is aired, it is meant to cause division, meanwhile, within ourselves, we want that division.

Of all who inducted him to hall of shame and accuse him of division, are they not same tribal warlords who stir up chaos and ask everyone should go back to their villages? The sooner yall begin to tell the truth for what it is, rather than blanket reality, the better.
They tell you to go back to your village because you have nothing but negative things to say about other peoples progress and advancements no matter what. This is your portion of hatred and devisiveness. If you are so unhappy withother people and their developments, then save yourself the aggravation and go back to your village where they do things better the way you like.

One thing I like about the Lagos state government are the fledgling state institutions and agencies from the LAMATA transportation crew to the town planning boys in Ilupeju identifying, accepting their positions and obligations within the public service and working together to deliver.

The ever present state crest on their different uniforms also sets them apart, it also excuse pride, state patriotism and loyalty with sense of duty..

Governor inspects sites for proposed Ikorodu Road Expansion

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Tuesday inspected sites for relocation of people to make way for the proposed Ikorodu Road expansion project warning traders to steer clear of the road and its bus stops.

Governor Fashola who undertook an inspection tour of part of Ikorodu Road to evaluate the proposed expansion, told Government House Correspondents after inspecting parts of the setbacks at Ajegunle in the Kosofe Local Council Development Area, that there was no way the project could be successfully implemented with the traders still ccupying the road setbacks. Dede1: I am not surprised you subscribed to the crap above to rebut the fact that mere mention of Biafra on Nairaland tends to jumpstart inherent tribalism in a Yoruba peep. It is very silly for anyone to arrogate sense of blame when human event such as Nigeria/Biafra war is recounted. The dingbats who assumed that they are being blamed in such narrative accounts need to do a soul search.

It is very childish for a person to accuse Achebe of being stuck in 60s because he, Achebe, tends to narrate recorded events. I guess anybody who attempts to recount the amalgamation of the protectorates must be stuck in 10s.
I though he spewed his own personal experience? So, fiction is now recorded events? What part of his lies is in any recorded events and what events was that?
