Justcash:I know this is the delusional rhetoric you guys spew all over the place. The question is, where is the sense and wisdom in developing other people's land wile yours remains crap, in shambles and getting swept of by erosion? Is it by force not to apply common sense when you speak? |
Onlytruth:No!! Forget about Yoruba people and start understanding yourself. Worry about the Igbo people, stay in Igboland, develop Igbo land, accept all responsibilities for your actions, stop running around like wanderers, stop claiming other people's land like Lagos and start showing some interest in Igboland. Basically, do you. |
Justcash:Yours is nothing but ignorance. Ikeja industrial estate remains Nigeria's foremost and the most active industrial estate. It's basically Nigeria's economic heartbeat and I'm very sure goods and services from Ikeja industrial finds it's way to your markets, towns and villages, even inside your own house as we speak. Many thanks to Obafemi Awolowo. Ikeja industrial is of course one of Awolowo's great achievements. It's really silly and ignorant for any Nigerian to say they're are not feeling Awolowo's achievements. |
Justcash:You call this achievement? You no get shame ni? |
Dede1:You don't have to keep repeating the same made up garbage just because you know ow to type, NL is not full of history deficient and gullible mumu. And the so called cesspit resulted because of the Igbo man's endless thirst for the Hausa man's water bottle. Are your leaders still not running around and telling you to follow and vote for the Hausa man again? Negro please, |
I am sure if Awolowo were alive he will tell you to reason with your head, present your arguement professionally and then make your point. It's all about reading and comprehension. He did not call you names, he basically characterized your shameful and unfortunate statements. |
Igbo people really need to follow their own rainbow and quit trying to be like Yoruba people. |
orisebawo:Do you guys even read the ridiculous and absurd nonsense you type? |
Onlytruth:You obviously have a warped understanding of Nigeria and the system of government back in the period you're talking about. The country was under a regional administrative system and Awolowo was the premier of the western region. As the premier/head of the western region, his job was to work for and look out for the people of the western region of Nigeria, not the federal republic of Nigeria or Northern and Eastern Nigeria. You got it all wrong, he did basically what he was charged to do in the 50's and he did a great job. Nigeria as a country is still reaping the benefits of many of his great and yet to be duplicated achievements. Talking about National character under a regional set up where each region was in charge of it's own destiny sounds very ignorant and laughable. |
blacksta:No doubt. Good jab. The state is like another country inside NIgeria. Talk about different ways of doing things and and different mentality. |
how many leaders igbo people need gan sef? i thought they have ojukwu, |
sjeezy8:Nothing really. There is no contest here sef. Way before independence, way before the civil war and silly accusations, we saw what each region was capable of doing under their respective leaders. Awo was obviously a million years ahead of the Northern and the Eastern leadership. |
Katsumoto:lol, better be sarcasm, |
bk/babe97:What part of that statement no be true? Are you for real or you're just playing d/um.b.? |
pheesayor:Unfortunately, people take anything for guilt, we see it all day on NL. |
Why is the Governor even paying attention to the clowns? |
Speeches Dinner Held On The 3rd Anniversary Of The Admninstration Of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN May 29, 2010 - After having addressed a press conference this morning, I believe that we should do more of what this dinner was intended for, which is to dine and wine in a celebratory mood as is deserving of a people who truly have cause to celebrate. In doing so therefore, we should talk less and celebrate more tonight, of course with restraint and self consciousness that a lot of work remains to be done. According to one of Ebenezer Obey's famours lyrics, "omo to ba sise dede, o ye ko ni asiko igbadun…" I therefore will not make any long speech. I will only address the need for us on this type of occasion to remember those in distress, who are ill, who are under privileged and who are in need and this is the only subject of my address. When our administration set out, we put a very high premium in time management, set serious schedules of deadlines for prompt attendance of meetings and compliance among members of the Executive Council, body of Permanent Secretaries, Directors and other levels of public service, we agreed to pay fines for lateness or failure to meet deadlines because we took our jobs seriously and placed a high premium on the value of the resources of our employers, the tax payers. These meetings held over the last 3 years, in the Executive Council, at Departmental meetings of finance, physical planning, lands, housing and others have generated a total sum of N679,500.00 (Six Hundred and Seventy Nine Thousand, Five Hundred Naira Only). I must confess that my immunity has not availed me here, because I paid on occasion, when I arrived later to chair some of those meetings. Although the Attorney General had cause to comically remark that these monies were proceeds of our crimes, the entire boyd of members of the Executive Council see them as proceeds of our commitment to serve. We resolved to use them for lawful purposes with unanimous resolution of the Executive Council to donate them to the following Charities: a. Bethlem Charity & Orphanage 17, Ozumba Street Off Pako Bus-Stop Igando N144, 875.00 b. Missionaries of Charity Mother Theresa 117, Demorin Street Ketu Lagos N144, 875.00 c. Bab Salam Joel Ogunaike Street Ikeja Lagos N144, 875.00 d. Children's Development Centre 31, Modupe Johnson Crescent Off Adeniran Ogunsanya Street Surulere. N144, 875.00 e. Motherless Babies Home Lekki N100,000.00 I thank my colleagues for their public spirited gesture even as I hope that in the pursuit of our commitment to serve Lagos better, we will be more complaint with deadlines, pay less fines and provide more opportunities for the under privileged, Furthermore, on the advice of Committee on the Prerogative of Mercies and the recommendation of the Honourable Attorney General, I have approved the appeals for clemency and granted pardon, with directives for the release of the following convicted prisoners, all of who are now over 50 (fifty) years of age and who have served a minimum of 20 years of their various life terms. The prisoners are: a. Latifu Alabi; - 60 years b. Sunday Oladapo; - 58 years c. Sunkomi Alao; - 55 years d. Idowu Salami; - 50 years e. Olushola Adewoyen; - 52 years; and f. Musibau Lasisi - 51 years May they go and sin no more! Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I wish us all a very happy anniversary and best wishes for the future. Thank you for listening. Eko o ni baje o! Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN Governor of Lagos State |
Beaf:yes I'm and I'm proud of my swamp. are you proud of yours? why are you wasting your time on me and my swamp? anyways, back to eko o ni baje lai lai, |
Beaf:Thank you sir, your people need you in the swamps, Buddha bless you Eko o ni baje lai lai |
https://i49.tinypic.com/1tady0.jpg https://i50.tinypic.com/155l53b.jpg 3rd Anniversary Of The Administration Of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN May 29, 2010 - Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as I welcome you all to this 3rd Anniversary of the tenure of our administration I will like to start by re-calling the promise I made to Lagosians in my inaugural address on May 29, 2007 when I said: "…I want to assure you that you have chosen a Government that cares; a Government with a clear vision of where we are and where we want to be; a Government with a clear compelling purpose from which its priorities shall logically flow". For the past few weeks, my colleagues in Government, Honourable Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and Special Assistants have been briefing you as they have done year on year since 2007 about what we have been doing with your resources to make life better, in fulfillment of that promise. I stand here very proudly and fulfilled to conclude those briefings that commemorate the 3rd Anniversary of our services to Lagosians, as we hit 1,096 (One Thousand and Ninety Six) days and 26,304 hours of our stewardship. This leaves us with 322 (Three Hundred and Twenty Two) days representing 7,728 hours of service ahead of us to render. I assure you that we are not tired, we remain committed and hold your trust in our abilities most inviolate. I assert without equivocation that we have fulfilled our promises and, performed our part of the social contract. We have shown that democracy can be contentful and successful in Nigeria; because in every part of the State that you go, whether in the 3 senatorial districts, the 24 Federal and 40 State Constituencies or the 57 Local Governments, you will see the imprimatur of our efforts. No section of our State whether rural or urban has been left untouched; even as we acknowledge that there remains a lot ahead to do. This takes us to the strategy which I must re-state. Permit me to explain that while we are impacting the most urgent needs according to priorities dictated by our people during the Local Government tour of 2007 and within the limits of our resources against the competing demands, we have evolved a clear strategy of how our State should develop, based on the 10 Point Agenda, the manifesto of our party, the Action Congress and a clear understanding of the problems, with the resolve not to fire-fight, but to be methodical in achieving that plan of an orderly and sustainable development. We understood unarguably that the lack of infrastructure occasioned by many years of political instability and lack of continuity of Government and policies had created desperate conditions. More vehicles have been bought, more children have been born, more graduates have been produced but no new roads, new schools, new hospitals, new markets, and similar amenities were being built, at the same pace of demand. We resolved therefore to direct public spending at providing infrastructure as a deliberate strategy for alleviating poverty. From that infrastructure provision, we have engineered tremendous growth in direct jobs created at the work sites, to boosting the supply chain of inputs of building materials, and supporting efficient operation of businesses. We have employed more people into the public service and increasing population. The result has been more motorable roads, restoration of ferry services, new hospitals, new schools, increased water supply, street signages, traffic lights, street lights, new markets, effective waste management; improved security, emergency toll free lines, a reformed civil service, increased employment and renewed hope and belief in the ability of a Government to respond to her people's need. In the process, your Government, formed on the sound welfarist and progressive principles of the Action Congress, has exploded many myths and actualized seeming impossibilities. In the areas of environment, Lagos is cleaner, contrary to the belief that it was impossible to manage its waste. Thousands of jobs have been created from an increasing PSP participation in waste disposal and opportunities for expansion are still emerging. We have successfully combated flooding in places that it was thought impossible to do so. The Gbagada expressway flooding has been resolved, Dolphin Estate and Obalende flooding has been resolved, Victoria Island and Ikoyi flooding from the Bar Beach is under control. The famous "river LUTH" in Idi Araba in now history. We are still working in other difficult parts of the State and we expect to be successful. Green spaces and beautiful parks have become things that Lagosians take for granted; contrary to the belief that Lagos was a concrete jungle. We imploded the partially collapsed Bank of Industry building without damage to any building or loss of any life, the first of its type in West Africa, contrary to the belief that it could not be done. With regards to security, Lagos is now safer than many other cities with its population size globally, and violent crime has dropped by over 70% and there was no successful bank robbery in the last two years contrary to the belief that Lagos was an irredeemably crime infested state. Street lights now provide safety and a sense of security that has enabled the emergency of a night-time economy contrary to the belief that it would never happen. We have operated the Bus Rapid Transit Scheme for almost 3 years carrying millions of passengers in comfort and it has now become a continental model contrary to the belief that it was doomed to fail. We have restored order to Oshodi and made it a choice route for millions of commuters contrary to the belief that Agege Motor Road will remain impassable and that Oshodi will remain a sad and impossible dark spot of our national life. We have converted Oluwole area of Lagos from a den of forgers to a haven of commerce and business in a new ultra modern Oluwole market. For those who held the view that our State had no agricultural capacity apart from fishing, we have exploded that myth by expanding rice cultivation from 20 hectares to 250 hectares with packaging and we are now heading to 500 hectares cultivation with improved yield per hectare. From cynism and condemnation, our Local Governments have moved to credibility and commendation, with a renewal sense of public service and determination to succeed by our Local Government Chairmen and other public servants at the Local Government level. Many who left our State in the belief that it was chaotic are returning with a new belief and respect for the determination of Lagosians to take their destiny in their hands, as our State increasingly becomes the magnet for hosting local and international events. The FA Cup returned to Lagos after many years as Lagos also hosted the U17 World Cup, the 4th and 5th Ehingbeti Summits and the 1st and 2nd Climate Change Summits all of which have attracted local and international participation. The Nigerian Bar Association Annual Conference returned to Lagos in 2009 after an absence of 20 years. The recognition of our emergence as Africa's fashion capital, earned us the rights to host the MNET Face of Africa and our tourism economy is blossoming with the successful hosting of the Eyo festival, the Lagos Carnival, the Heritgae festival and the Boat Regatta. The economic benefits of these events, the jobs they have created and the families they sustained, explain the new belief of our people in their State. We have demonstrated integrity and efficient use of public funds and more Lagosians are paying taxes voluntarily, contrary to the belief that our people were irredeemable tax dodgers. We have shown that impossibilities are excuses for failure and that it is always possible for a people to change whatever they do not accept. I must therefore express unqualified and sincere gratitude to all Lagosians who certainly are too numerous for individual acknowledgment, who have contributed to this renaissance. Indeed, very recently, your Government received a citation from the Green Crystal Earth Group based in Sydney, Australia for achieving the fastest infrastructure development ever undertaken in Africa. I am humbled for the opportunity you have given me to lead such a team of men and women and citizens who have found a unique courage and determination to confront history. All of us have found commonality of interest and purpose for a better Lagos that we cannot afford to disagree upon, because truly, a brighter and rewarding future lies ahead. Thank you for listening. Eko o ni baje o. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN Governor of Lagos State |
Kobojunkie:Too bad you're the only slowpoke on NL. Admitted, Lagos state like any other state around the world is not a perfect state and sometimes we have issues against government policies and actions and we of course have every right to speak up against such actions, but it's another thing to always find something to criticize when there really is nothing to speak against. The sound of Lagos or Fashola is like a cue for you to pick up arms and start spitting rubbish. It's absolutely impossible to be 100% and 24/7 against anything and everything. It only displays your corrosive and meaningless state of mind and it's safe to conclude that your arguments are worthless in the arena of good discuss. That's why you are and shall remain a slowpoke. You really are a sadist with serious personal issues. |
lol @ Post All Lagos Affairs Here. u put medicine for mouth? |
mekuszyx:The question is, are they re-investing their so called profits in their own land? The fact is, your towns and villages are empty because the rich folks are not investing and creating jobs for the young folks back east, so all your young folks end up heading to Lagos and other Yorubal land for survival. That's a fact. |
mekuszyx:You call the silly list you posted investments? 1. Some school opened in 2005 2. I don't see any Yoruba related taint in the story. 3. Some folks getting together and talking about cooperation. Now, tell me how the crap you posted = investments. lol @ Ariaria market women, you really are a comedian. |
na the list of the yoruba business and investments I asked you to list, not the irrelevant nonsense you dey plaster everywhere, |
mekuszyx:But na lie you dey lie because if na so and knowing you and the way you dey tribalism take sleep like pillow, you go don pull am out and the list go dey front page for NL. No reason to lie just to prove some yeye point. And please answer this question. Why not stay and pay taxes in the east to allow the governments over there to have money to develop the east? why pay it in Lagos and allow the Lagos state government to develop Lagos state with your money? Does it make sense to you? |
mekuszyx:It's indeed your God's given right to be hopelessly delusional. Do you mind sharing with us the name of at least one of these Yoruba folks or companies and what they invested in and where exactly in the east? Of course, you don't have to leave Lagos, stay there and pay taxes make Fashola get more money to build roads and develop Lagos and not the east. Like I said, you no dey make sense. |
^^^ I know you need attention. Take a ticket and stand in line, I fit indulge trolls like you if I get time. |
mekuszyx:Cool down and quit foaming like say epilepsy don jam you. What are you really grateful for? For people doing their job/what you put them in office for and pay them to do? Do you even read the silly, naive and immature nonsense you type sometimes? Unfortunately for you, the federal Government has nothing to do with what ever that's plaguing the east. Your locally and federally elected and appointed officials are the ones responsible for your needs, you send them to Abuja and state houses to fight and look out for you. It is their job to send home the bacon. And the east is not developing anytime soon, at last until the problem of human, manpower and financial flight is abetted, until most easterners sees the east as their home and crown jewel, until they stop claiming what's not theirs in Lagos and Abuja and stay in the east and start investing and developing their towns and villages in the east. Your leaders and rich folks don't even want to stay in the east talk less invest in the east. You really need to shut up sometimes, lol @ enemies. Negro please. |
First you were screaming and yelling about lack of federal presence in the east, now you're praising Jonathan. Is Jonathan federal or local? NL get too many bipolar people I swear. |
blacksta:This is what many people don't understand. Every society on the face of the earth is not immune to shady dealings, even in the western world where they scream and yell democracy. The fact is, Nigeria is still a country of law and Lagos state is blessed with capable judiciary and law/legislative sector to handle any form of illegalities. Only Lagos judges sends politicians to jail. The EFCC is also there to look into anything. I'm not saying things are perfect in the state of Lagos, things are definitely not, but I can not afford to stay close minded, shut my eyes and start acting as if Lagos is still the old Lagos of even 4 years ago. I not bury my head in the sand and start acting as if who owns what and who owns that is the only thing going on in Lagos. Lagosians on a daily basis are feeling the positive impact of their votes, their leaders are delivering on a massive scale that can never be duplicated any where in Nigeria, even at the federal level. This is unheard of in Nigeria. So far in the last 2 weeks alone, the state commissioned 17 major projects from road to bridges, waterworks and many more. The year is not even half way in and they've commissioner dozens of projects and I see them handing over hundreds before the end of the year. Is this not we want them to do? is this not what we have been crying for? And if you guys care so much about Lagosians, how come none of you guys are talking about these commissioned projects and many good things within the state? Are the same Lagosians not enjoying the benefits off these projects? Is this not what we put them in office to do? Work and deliver on behalf of the people. Why is it that all you guys talk about and peddle is yet to be proven rumors and innuendos. Of what use is bothering myself with innuendos and rumors? If the allegations are true, let other folks charged with looking into such worry about that. Just this morning, LASEPA shut down 8 comps for several environmental violations. So, is LASEPA owned by Tinubu or one of his friends or the director of LASEPA used to own an environmental company? The fact is, no society is perfect and obviously Lagos is not, but the state is delivering, they are doing their job. Before Fashola, Lagos was dirty and filthy, the state was littered with dirty and ugly signs and billboards, even on 3rdMB. The same state signage agency you're talking about got rid of the dirty signs and billboard, they improved the aesthetic image of the state. If the state suggest building a sidewalk, same clueless folks on NL screams and yell, if the state suggests building a airport, they lose their shallow thinking minds. It's just hard for me to take them seriously because it's obvious their interests and concerns has nothing to do with the average Lagosian. This is why it's very heard for me to take some of you seriously and I never will. Lagos is more than who owns what and all the other silly stuff. |

Next thing u know, the white man gone start spreading lies saying
