Boko Haram Threat In Lagos: SSS, Islamic Group, OPC Brace Up
August 17, 2009 13:53 (4 hours ago)

By Astro Jewoola

Following speculations that members of the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram, are regrouping in some parts of Lagos, operatives of the State Security Service (SSS), some Islamic groups and Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) have braced up to nip in the bud any possible attack.

P.M.News investigation revealed that men of the SSS, Policemen at Police Headquarters, Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building and security personnel of Eti Osa Local Government Area have come together and are are gathering intelligence in the area with a view to quashing any possible insurgency by the Islamic militants.

A senior police officer in the area who craved anonymity told P.M.News, “We are aware of a possible invasion of this area and we are fully ready to crush them.”

It was gathered that the group stormed some places in Ondo where they allegedly fine-tuned their strategies on a possible attack of Lagos any time this week.

However, in a press release by the Movement for Islamic Rights and Justice (MIRAJ), the group condemned the killing in Bauchi and other states in the North by the Boko Haram group.

MIRAJ stated that any insurgency in the South-West part of the country will be resisted.

In a statement signed by its National Amir, Mr. Adeniyi Alim Adams, the group said, “our organisation’s strong allegiance is to protect the interest and the fundamental human rights of the people. We therefore strongly condemn in all its ramifications, the killing in the name of religion of innocent people in Northern Nigeria. And any attempt to spread it to Lagos or the south will be resisted strongly.”

Speaking in the same vein with P.M.News in Lagos, the Bashorun Musulumin of Lagos State and the Chairman, Administrative of Lagos Central Mosque, Sikiru Alabi Macfoy, said, “we are very disturbed about the killings in the north and we shall not take it lightly with any group planning to bring such satanic act to Lagos.

“We have started parleying with all security agencies. Once we suspect any illegal gathering in the name of religion, the suspects will be quizzed by our group.”

The leaders of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) both Dr. Fredrick Fasehun and the National Coordinator, Otunba Gani Adams, in reactions to a possible invasion of any of the south western states, said the OPC will not sit and fold its arms and watch Islamic fundamentalists from any part of the country cause mayhem in any part of Yorubaland.

“Whoever is making any attempt to cause chaos in this part of the county will surely meet his waterloo,” Adams warned

Biafra remains sthe noblest ideal of a race betrayed and its children set upon with knives by all its neighbours.
Don't you mean biafra remains a pipe dream, a dream fashioned by one greedy, clueless and thoughtless idiot who betrayed is neighbors/country and lead  tons people to their death via a DOA and doomed war.

Sadly, Igbo people were used, dumped and deserted by the same selfish, callous and misguided clown. The same clown now happily collects pensions from the same enemy he detested, fought and spilled his people's blood to defeat.

So what's your point again? When are you going to start pointing your disingenuous fingers in the right direction?

Like I said, some people on NL don't give a shit about anything lagos or yoruba, they reason off hate and tribal sentiments, this is their state of mind and make up.

Their minds are polluted, filled with hate and prejudice, and jokes aside, I do feel sorry for them because they get fed with anti yoruba BS from birth and they carry that burden and monkey on their backs generations after generations.

If this is the achievements you will list for a government, honestly, I don't debate at this level.
What he said impacts people and their state of mind, anything that forces people to think twice before doing something is a good thing.

Idiagbo and Buhari was a missed opportunity.
PoliticsRe: The Difference Between Bola Tinubu And Tunde Fashola by babapupa: 10:17pm On Aug 14, 2009
@ Illusion,

Men your contribution couldn't be more apt. People keep making all these blanket comparisons forgeting that in every organisation, individual team members play in a position of strength for the ultimate good of the team.

Tinubu knows how to play the politics. He is a master at that while Fashola is your ideal goal-oriented manager. He is a functionary. He simply does what needs to be done and doesn't get bogged down with systemic culture. Having said that, he needs the wits, sagacity and charisma of a man like Tinubu to succeed. Do you know what would have happened in Lagos if that grassroot men did not risk their lives to ensure that PDP rigging machinery did not overrun Lagos in 2007? I tell you the truth, only a man like Tinubu has what it takes to massively mobilise that kind of support.

You and I will not go to the street to fight with PDP touts/Police for ballot boxes. Our lives are too cool to do that. These guys we call area boys did and the result is a Fashola. I believe with privilege comes a lot of responsibility. Those of us who I consider the emerging middle class in Nigeria should exercise some caution and seriously consider issues before putting hand to the keyboard.

And for the "not so enlightened" among us who are still parading and playing up such cheap, mundane and obsolete matter of tribe/race/religion, my advise for you is to wake up from your slumber. Lagos is a National treasure that just happens to be located in South West part of Nigeria. I have had the privilege of leaving in a number of cities in Nigeria in my lifetime and I can tell you that apart from Warri, Delta State, LAGOS is the only state in Nigeria where I will physically go and pay my tax to the authorities like I pay my tithe in Church assuming it is not deducted from source. It is a home for all of us. We have to start building the Nigeria of our dream with every opportunity we have as stop dissipating energy on things that don't improve us in anyway.

Let's stop all these "Saul is good but DAVID is great" kind of comparison because ultimately it is hurting Fashola's functioning machinery and putting a lot of heat on him.

EKO O NI BAJE O!!!!
Best post in this thread.

Like they say, Fashola is the governor of Ndi Igbo, Efik, Kalabari, Ijaw, Eket, Ibibio, Sanbo Ngeri, the Hausas, Fulanis, Yorubas, the Igalas, the Itshekiris, the Binis and all,

God bless you.
PoliticsRe: The Difference Between Bola Tinubu And Tunde Fashola by babapupa: 9:06pm On Aug 14, 2009
Lagos was NOT in chaos, neither was it a hell hole. It was actually during Tinubu's years that the State seemed to decay even much more.
110% correct.

These Kidnappings And The Destruction Of Igbo Nation

Don't worry about our traits or whatever your hateful mind spits out, @ least we're not washing away like sand sand. All this ya hate and obsession with Odua people na serious misplacement of priorities. Your town and villages are in ruins, your people in diaspora are not gonna be visiting this December because you guys are gonna kidnap and kill them.

Love or hate Tinubu, Lagos is not under PDP rule because of Tinubu,

The man fought for Lagos and won and without his good foresight, Fashola and all the great transformation going on in Lagos go forever remain a dream.

Fashola is a unique leader, sometimes I wonder if dude is a Nigerian. He practically pulled Lagos from the edge of abyss.

It would be trivial to suggest that Okwaraji is suffering this neglect because of his roots. It is not true. What did his State government do? In 1998, an official of the Imo State Government attended the ninth Okwaraji memorial lecture and promised the Imo State Government had great plans to honour him. One of the plans was the naming of the National Sports Festival that held in Owerri that year after him. Okwaraji was never mentioned made at that festival.

Former Governor Achike Udenwa is from the same locality in Orlu with Okwaraji. He was Governor of Imo State for eight years. He did nothing for the memory of Okwaraji.
