This is a good move but it is not yet finished,

@auwal,
Good at least we have some picture, which shows he attend NSYC CAMP. so cant claim exemption

Now we need certifcate that he actually completed it!

Many people enter University(they have matric pics) but did not graduate; so we need the NYSC certificate.

what interesting also: he did NYSC 3 years after he started working:

when he did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Abuja in 1998.
Going by his CV, Bankole was 26 years old when he started working in 1995 at Freight Agencies, Lagos.'
PoliticsRe: New Speaker Dogded Nysc? by babasin(op): 11:29pm On Nov 07, 2007
In as much as i agree with you that NYSC is not what is used to be but the fact remains that for you to take public office in Nigeria you must present your discharge certificate or exemption certificate(Graduates) as the case may be. Until they amend that part of the law or constitution i am of the opinion that the law be adhered to strickly
that is it. crystal clear.

It is very simple.

Speaker should produce his certificate, exemption or be thrown out!
PoliticsRe: New Speaker Dogded Nysc? by babasin(op): 9:33pm On Nov 07, 2007
NYSC law is very clear!

We cant have a law breaker now making law!

great things must be done with great attention to law and consistency

I am more certain than not that the guy did NYSC. I can confirm that he participated in the NYSC orientation camp with my brother in Abuja in Feb 1998,
so we cant even trust his CV: 'Going by his CV, Bankole was 26 years old when he started working in 1995 at Freight Agencies, Lagos.'

So he did NYSC 3years after he started working??

Again blame Government.

Naturally, people will not do things unless they have been 'trainned to do it' or forced to do it.

What they should do is have' zebra crossing' and put camera there.

Any driver that do not stop, will get snapped as evidence and pay a fine of N50,000

You will be amazed, every driver will stop.

Since I got a fine of about N20,000, which I could have sent to Nigeria and people will pray for me; I started stopping in zebra crossing.

PoliticsRe: New Speaker Dogded Nysc? by babasin(op): 5:39pm On Nov 07, 2007
what kind of people are we in this country?
Bankole should provide his NYSC certificate. or show evidence.

It is that simple.

If you serve NYSC; it so easy to show evidence.

This guy smells like a big fraud.

If we cannot trust him with basic issue of NYSC certificate; how can we trust him to serve Nigerians??

Or he only want to serve Nigeria when its sweet??
PoliticsRe: New Speaker Dogded Nysc? by babasin(op): 5:19pm On Nov 07, 2007
“I don’t want to be distracted in my new responsibility to Nigeria,” he retorted.
This Bankole is lying, a fraud. He should be removed with immediate effect.

Even if you lost your NYSC certificate; you will still remember which state you served, which city, and what you did; teach, work etc

rule of law at all times.
PoliticsRe: Adeboye, Redeem Church Leader In N20 Billion Import Waiver Scandal by babasin(m): 5:10pm On Nov 07, 2007
154 million dollars and no one noticed or asked questionshuh Come on!!
Abacha took $3billion. Nobody knows until his death

OBJ has taken about $10Billion, we will not know till his death

Etteh took $5mil, we know, only because she did not settle.

Pastor from INEC took N1billion naira, we know only after his death.

This story is true until Adeboye provides contrary evidence.
PoliticsRe: New Speaker Dogded Nysc? by babasin(op): 3:36pm On Nov 07, 2007
Hence if the issue is removing Dimeji Bankole as an MP based of NYSC, it is the prerogative of INEC (not House members) to do that through the courts. INEC will also have to explain to Nigerians why such a man passed screening in the first place. Besides that Dimeji Bankole will not be singled out, INEC in doing that will have to review the credentials of all public officers and punish all those found wanting not just Dimeji.
whatever process, if he does not have NSYC certicate and no exemption. He cannot hold any public office in Nigeria!

Many of us wanted to do away with it but we warned so long you need Govt better do attend NYSC. He does not have 2 head.

I know many who study aboard, came to do NSYC and left back again.

atleast  I have 3 such teachers in high-school

Besides that only a section of the population go to University and by extension NYSC, hence what it means is that those who have'nt gone to University will never have an opportunity to learn how to "love" their compatriots
This is meant for the 'elite'; we all know problem of Nigeria is 'elite'.

Many of us that served in places away from our ethinic-people still have good friends and respect for those people.
That 1yr remains one of the memorable years.

RULE of law at all times!
PoliticsRe: New Speaker Dogded Nysc? by babasin(op): 1:44pm On Nov 07, 2007
The Speaker should honourably resign if he has no exemption certificate and he should do that A.S.A.P to avoid the type of rowdy sessions we had in the last few weeks.
exactly. if you are a graduate and less than 30yrs, you have to serve your fatherland. It is the law.

He does not have two heads. Many of us also served.

O please d scheme has overstayed its useful life, it has become totally senseless, meaningless, a death trap
This has nothing to do with NYSC but bad roads in Nigeria. People just got roasted on Lagos-Ibadan highway. They were not go on NYSC.

all these allegations will not help matters, are these guys just going to pick bones in the house or are they going to do the business of the nation?
We need to start establishing that we will not accept any 'short-cut' to success in Nigeria.

The NYSC scheme should be canceled outrightly.  It is just a waste of peoples' time.  Graduates should be working.
They have lifetime to work but that 1yr must be given to serve Nigeria untill NYSC is scrapped.
PoliticsNew Speaker Dogded Nysc? by babasin(op): 10:46am On Nov 07, 2007
It has emerged that new speaker dodge NYSC.

If this confirmed, he should be REMOVED with immediate effect.

Many of us attended the NYSC in crazy part of Nigeria; doing Nigeria proud and following the law.

We not accept anything less from any other graduate from Nigeria

Barely one week in office as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole may have been presented with his own political baptism.
Some unnamed members are alleging that the new Speaker evaded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
--
Section 13 of the NYSC Act (amended in 1993) makes it criminal for anyone to dodge the service, under-declare educational qualifications or work in either public or private sector without undergoing national service

PoliticsObasanjo’s House Of Cards by babasin(op): 11:21am On Nov 06, 2007
“Except the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” – Psalm 127, Verse 1

This great verse from the book of Psalm is what former president Olusegun Obasanjo used mischievously against former senate president, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, when the latter invited him to commission his new official residence in 2002. Unknown to Oyi of Oyi, Obasanjo had already hatched a plot to remove him from office a few weeks later. It was another senate president that latter enjoyed the benefit of the grandiose official residence. How apt the same verse from the Bible to Chief Obasanjo’s current predicament in the political arena.
Following his humiliation in the epic struggle to railroad the third term for himself last year, the former president quickly resorted to Plan B with all vengeance. His Plan B was to ensure that those who would succeed him both in the executive and legislature would be his own cronies. And to carry out these assignments, the party under the “chemical” Ali was made to “bomb out” not only the anti-third term elements in the PDP but also those candidates or aspirants who could not be trusted to be pliant after Baba must have left office.
To do this, all manners of tactics were employed. Certain state institutions were deployed to intimidate some of them, while some were prevented outright from contesting party primaries. And where some “stubborn elements” managed to snatch victories at primaries, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was either made to disqualify them or the party simply substituted their names overnight. And as part of post-Obasanjo power consolidation, the party constitution was amended overnight to automatically make him the ultimate chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT) with added power to dictate the future direction of the party.
Perhaps if the Obasanjo supporters had their way, they would have also amended the constitution to create a position of “president-mentor” or “president emeritus” in order to supervise President Umaru Yar’dua. To ensure that no troublesome governors ever emerge again given the experience of Lagos, Abia and Adamawa during his second term in office, the INEC was made to ensure only preferred candidates were declared as governors except in states where it would be too suicidal to rig. In fact in most states, the results of election had been pre-written. And where the figures earlier written embarrassingly turned out to be more than registered voters, it had to be quickly corrected by the magician Professor Maurice Iwu the following day from Abuja as was done in the case of Anambra, a governorship imposition which the Supreme Court later showed that there was nothing to impose in the first place.
Not satisfied yet, whoever became the senate president and House of Representatives speaker in post-Obasanjo era were also crucial to Baba’s after-office calculation. Again, “Chemical” Ali was deployed to work. Baba simply barked the instruction from Otta and there was no doubting where the Pendulum was to swing. Senator David Mark and Honorable Patricia Etteh were the anointed.
Now and suddenly, the centre is beginning to give way. Things have started going awry. Post-Obasanjo’s presidential power house which the supporters and lobbyists thought was built on a rock has now been discovered to be built on quicksand. It is beginning to collapse like a house of cards and many deserters are beginning to talk with their legs. For a house that was not built with the people’s physical planning authority approval, the law, justice, morality, reason and fate are beginning to catch up with the illegal builders.
First, the courts have ordered the demolition of several parts of the building and only God Almighty can save the main building itself. Many of the Obasanjo’s impositions as governors are either giving way or about to give way. More will go in weeks to come thus leaving Baba without his illegitimate political children. As if the pain inflicted by the courts was not enough, some of the impositions as fate would have it, have begun to self-destruct. The party-imposed speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh, was recently disgraced out of office. And as if to deal more blow to the Obasanjo’s gang, the House last week rebelled against the party in order to pick its own genuine speaker and not an Otta-manufactured one.
With a sitting president unwilling to intervene, it seems the Obasanjo caucus is now set to lose the party machinery come next month. Already formidable forces have gathered to ensure that only a truly elected party chairman is installed. Therefore, those already going to Otta to seek anointing are beginning to retrace their steps. Moreso, some powerful forces are now bent on deposing the almighty BOT chairman. With the election of the speaker from Ogun, the strong argument that may now prevail is that Ogun cannot be made to produce BOT chairman again, after all, other states have former Presidents like Niger.
As the centre can no longer hold, the cat is now being let out if the bag. Some of Obasanjo’s hatchetmen are beginning to spill the bean. The latest is former Senate president Ibrahim Mantu who last week confessed in a newspaper that the PDP actually imposed candidates on the people and they are all now being punished. True talk coming from someone who was imposed as a senatorial candidate but eventually lost the election. And as if this confession is not enough, Baba is gradually being shown the reality of power. During the previous week’s remembrance of his late wife, Stella, only about three adverts were placed in the papers by his associates. The famous government contractors did not place any compared to a deluge of adverts last year. Similarly only a handful remembered to join him at last week’s Owu day. In fact, the fear is that there may be none to attend the annual Ibogun Day on Boxing Day. You wonder: Where are the famous “Baba’s friends and supporters”?
The big lesson in all this is for all men of power to realise that the ultimate power belongs to God. And God has appointed the people as the trustees of that power. And once that power does not come from the people, the grabber only labours in vain. The tragedy of Obasanjo’s era is that that government was never humbled by power thrusted upon it. The former president who was fortunate to be imposed on his party and elected in 1999 only to return for a second term in 2003 in a fraudulent election had been allowed to play God over those he governed. For a government that was largely a disaster in terms of performance to still want to dictate the future of Nigeria after leaving office is nothing but insult to every Nigerian.
It is even naïve, as every student of power knows, for a man out of power to think he can continue to control a new man of power who not only controls the police, the security service, the army, all state institutions and resources which he himself used to buy loyalty when he was in office, to now think the new man cannot do the same. Even if the new man doesn’t know how to do it, there are able men experienced in power enough who are ever willing to package him to do it. It is time we put Obasanjo’s ghost behind us. It is a big illusion for anyone to think Obasanjo is still relevant as next month’s events will show
simply illuminating.
