Please does anyone know of any top up nursing degree program in Australia and how much it cost?
Career / Re: Biochemistry Graduate Under Pressure To Study Nursing; Please Advise by Babatundeh26: 1:41pm On Jun 18, 2022
Not really, but it's stressful. For most part of the 3years you're either in the ward or class, coupled with lots of things you have to learn within 3years and also balancing all these with your social life. But it's fun and I want to believe rewarding in the end.

Does it matter? We are all going to write the council together.

Did council index the 154 in your class the same time, same yr?...

None.

Please house, what is the age limit to get admission into the School of Nursing in Nigeria?
Career / Re: Biochemistry Graduate Under Pressure To Study Nursing; Please Advise by Babatundeh26: 1:31pm On May 19, 2022
Yes, it's not as hard as people cry wolf all the time but it's stressful, very stressful.
egojeny1:

Does it mean you went back to do sciences
Career / Re: Biochemistry Graduate Under Pressure To Study Nursing; Please Advise by Babatundeh26: 1:27pm On May 19, 2022
Things have changed now, ABUTHSON and a lot of other SON can now register 100 candidates for council. You can only write the council exam when you get indexed and when you pass you get licensed. see we are presently 154 in my class and bar demotion or withdrawal we will all write the council exam next year.
Chinny024:

Those number that you see writing council have been indexed before then..May be backlogged students...Those that passed resit may be in second yr can have the chance of writing council again with a new set..
Even in the uni,50 students are indexed per yr to curtail the number of nurses graduating per yr and unemployment..

Ask well....You can be up to 200 to sit for council but 50 must be indexed per yr per school..It's a rule.

Earned a degree in Political science and a PGD in Economics, worked for 2 years in bank and later resigned. Presently in my 2nd year in school of nursing and it seems like the best decision I have made yet.

When did you graduate from nursing school? Most nursing schools can now present more than 100 students for council exam.
Chinny024:

She might not even be enrolled... Don't be surprise she would fail woefully during PTS..Its fail and fail out.If her mind is not there, no one should force her..Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria needs just 50students per yr from each schools of nursing across the country.
During our time,we had 5 graduates ranging from microbiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Lab scientist, and physiotherapists. They want to port to UK or US through nursing.
Among the five of them, only the Anatomy students made it with us after PTS.
Unfortunately, because of greed for money most school admits close to 300students and bombard them for that 6months...If you fail,na pack and go on top shame..
I never regretted going into nursing from sch of nursing route.. In fact, it should be the basic.. You get the required training, manner, and experience. Patients are safe in our hands. Most times then we teach BSC students practical and theory...No fighting, everyone has portion to clean, roster for sharing food and class cleaning and washing..You know your sit in the class.
If you do nonsense, you serve punishment in the ward by doing nights and going to classes at same time. However, exit route is widely open for stubborn ones.

Although, not all school is competitive.
Goodluck to her...

The health worker is trying to prevent an outbreak of polio which if it happens will cause so much problems than we already have in this country.

I think the school should be closed down.

You're very funny. But I understand your frustration, you're probably among those with no hope of leaving the country so you're always quick to fault others trying. You can stay back and build the country God in His infinite mercy will help you.
FreeStuffsNG:
It beats my imagination how the FG sits by with reckless abandon and allow trained hands it trained or substantially subsidise their training to immediately graduate and head overseas to work there leaving their parents behind for others to care and attend to.

If you go overseas, you better take your family along, especially your parents. This is because nobody here will take you serious when you are overseas and start suggesting interventions when your parents get into health crisis. It happened recently with Dr Malaifa. Nigerian health care professionals who stay back mock them with "sebi it is us who can't go overseas to practice too and abandon our parents? ". Even if you are staying far from Nigeria because you are from a dysfunctional family system here at home, to avoid stories that touch, take your parents along or that Nigerian system you cheated will , sadly, consume them. I know few who come home only for funerals and it's sad listening to their accounts of how their parents die without reaping the benefits of having children who are healthcare professionals.

Those who stayed behind to develop and serve their fatherland could as well have left like you too. As we type here, Cuban health care professionals will hardly leave their country and considered one of the least paid in the world but for the love for their country and parents, they stay within their country and serve. Since all these years we have been "exporting " doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses etc overseas, we have never seen any of our 'exports' on Forbes list or rank high among wealthy Nigerians, making one to wonder if they are truly that successful financially overseas. I even see a few do better here than some overseas! So who is NMA fooling?

Honestly, I blame the FG for not putting measures in place to get value for taxpayers who they used their money to train the NMA members. It's completely unacceptable.
All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las, they always lose. God bless Nigeria forever.

My school will admit you 6months before Council Exam. It's just expensive, tedious and in the north.
yunqdady:

You can do adaptation with NMCN then.
I think I've heard of one school call something Institute Sante Praque in Niger and I know people from there that are either in UK as RN after doing adaptation. Some schools of Nursing could admit you into year 2. Just find out from your seniors how they went about it. Cameroon is another option

This is the only person to have spoken with sense. Most people here are either jealous or angry at the success of these ones.
KosiGee:

Actually, the salary starts at just under £25k per annum for a band 5 nurse or any other band 5 Nhs staff, it’ll be a bit more if you’ve progressed through the band. London hospitals pay more.

Uk is a nice place and a really nice place to work as a medical staff. There is heavy investment on medical care. Lots of experienced professionals to learn from, medical equipment is top of the range and funding isn’t a constraint. You are encouraged to work hard and be the best you can.

Uk is GOLD. That Martyn of a guy who claim to have worked in the US, UK, UAE and SA is highly confused.
Of course, you’ll pay NI, tax and pension but if you work hard as you do in Nigeria, you’ll not regret it.

If you get sick, your Gp is there for you. In emergency, the wait can be terrible but you get seen by the best medical team. You’d be surprised that the A/E doctor is someone who graduated from University of Ibadan, Ilorin, Awka or UNN. The radiographer might be a graduate of UNEC.

Think first of the trainings, the opportunities, the equipment at your disposal, the experts to guide and support your growth. You’ll earn the money but be prepared to work hard.

Nhs is the best. I wish those guys the best and I hope they settle in well enough.

Btw, it’s like this in lots of Nhs hospitals. They recruit lots of Nigerian healthcare workers.
