Dear House, My ticket is from Abuja to Elpaso with one day stop over at Chicago. My question is, at POE in Chicago will I have to bring out my checked in luggage at Chicago or at Elpaso.
Sometime early this year i flew Lagos to Chicago on Delta and POE was Atlanta, layover was about 3hrs and i did not have to bring down any luggage.

Dears, please i askd a question oooo and i need help has any one moved from Dallas POE to elpaso ,what as d mode of transport by air or bus and whats the cost like, elpaso boud in January and Dallas is my POE abeg oooo
Would advice you go by air, cause dallas to el paso is quite a distance by road and i dont think you would want to go through the stress of a road trip after such a long flight from 9ja.I guess the price would have to do with when you book the tickets, the sooner you book, the cheaper i guess it would be for you. You can reseach the airlines that fly that route online.

Dear US Birth Team,

I have been reading this trend and will like clarification on some issues i noticed.....

Is it that it has been proved that EL Paso through doctoresparati.com is not a good choice or, PeaceNigeria and other new moms are just having a little misunderstanding that has led to confusing me a bit on making a choice. Kindly clarify the best option for Birth in USA. I will really appreciate this ASAP. angry undecided

Kindly respond anyone....

Thank you.
@SAkale
I see that no one has given you any responce,so i will try to answer your question as best as i can. From my understand of what has been said about the el paso people dresparati on this thread reccently, is that they are not doctors, but agents and that their letters might not be taken with any seriousness at the embassy if you are using it as part of your burdend of proof. That being said,i have allso read wonderfull testimonies of people that had their babies there. In conclution, my advice to you if you are keen on going the El paso route is that you use some other doctores correspondence as burden of proof when going for your visa interview and port to El paso when you get to the us.
This is just my two cent opinion o,i am not an authority in these matters o and i stand to be corrected.

Hi Baby will and Lindapurple
Is true u actually need a person resident in Tarrant County with a utility bill proving residence. Cos its a county hospital. Am staying with family so they did easily for me. Tho come to think of it, my cousin who went with me never showed them any bills. She just gave her address and they accepted. So you may try. Or simply get someone who lives here to take u and u just use their address. I think it's a mere formality. But they only accept u when u get here so u can't book an appointment with them in advance. Hope this helps.
Thanks, Babatwi for d link. Will reach out to them for d circumcision
Thanks if thats the case no wahala, i can even go with the whole members of the family i will be staying with, lol, since its proof of residence they want.

HAAA!!!!!, she is not a 100% illegal Immigrant, she got in with a valid visa and the visa expired while in the US. If she was stamped in for six months at the POE by the CBP officer and hasn't stayed more than that time, she is still not illegal. I don't think the said friend intends to benefit from the Obama immigration reforms o.
I was one of those that initially wrote that since her visa had expired, she was illegaly in the us. But due to the diverse opinion on this, i took time out to research this, from what i found out,she is still within her rights, since she has not over stayed the date stamped at poe.
For furthe clearificationyou can check out this site: http://www.immihelp.com/visas/visa-stamp-arrival-departure-record.html. I hope this sheds more light on the issue

Well I have a different view to this just like @shelly23 said. As long as she had a valid visa when she entered the us and the date stamped on her passport to leave the US has not expired, then she's good. The UK system and that of Us is quite different. In the UK, ur visa allows you entry and stay in the UK. While in d us, ur visa allows u entry at the point of entry alone but the boarder officers determines your period of stay in the us. This has been well argued in the past on this thread and if I remember correctly b4 the tsunami I think someone even had a similar issue where her visa expired before the date stamped on her passport at poe expired
I stand corrected
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Babatwi: 2:07pm On Dec 09, 2014
shelly23:
If she didn't exceed the date stamped on her passport, she should be ok. Where she would have issues is future renewals since she didn't declare that she was going to give birth. She should make sure she pays in full and keep her receipts for proof.

I wrote to the embassy asking if i needed to renew my visa before travelling for childbirth, since my visa will expire while i'm there and they responded that I don't need to. That so long I have a valid visa to enter the US, the POE officer will determine how long I can stay for.

=exxy post=28714036]a friend just gave birth in new york, she entered the states with a visit visa and her visa expired some months back, pls house will her child get citenzenship? if there is a procedure for that, how will she go about it.
zeezahbee and others pls help out.
Hi, immediatly your friends visa expired,i dont think she had any legal right to still be in the us,she was ill adviced, what she should have done was renew her visa b4 travelling. As it is now,it will be almost imposible for her to be able to get any further us visa. Something similar happened to a friend that travelled to the uk and took ill while she was there and was hospitalised and during all this wahala her visa expired, after returning to nigeria it was impossible for her to re-enter the uk agan, all her visa applications were rejected, this went on for about 7yrs and not untill she got a lawyer in the uk that took up her case b4 they eventualy gave her a visa, all these was after 7yrs and plenty money spent.
As for her baby,i dont think she would have any problem getting his american passport. The issue is her being able to re-visit the us

NB: got preggy thru iui.. so don't know If there r special hospitals 4 cases like mine...plss wld b waiting 4 a reply 2 my questions...tnx and Happy Sunday
w
@cutielucy.. Do you intend to use the visa for vacation first before going to have your child or you intend to just go straight for birthing, since you dint tell the Vo that you were pregnant when applying for the visa, this might come up at POE.would advice you to just have a lot of cash at hand at POE to convince them that you can pay for your treatment.
Decide which state exactly you want to go to and start your search from there, google doctord around your city or zip code, and when you have found your doctor, tell him your medical history and let him advice you when best to be in the us

Thanks for your response, am actually in the us @ the moment, booked my appointment @ the doctors office and was given a letter show the date of appointment, was just wondering if there is any other document I need to get from the doctor to show @ the port of entry.
@ fehinebony
You might need to show them your doctors appointment letter, you might also need to show them receipt of payment if you paid in advance or a document showing a break down of your expected bill issued by your doctor or hospital or both, cash in hand as evidence that you can pay for the bill and lastly evidence of accomodation.
It should also be mentioned here that people have entered the us for birthing purpose without being asked for any document, but that being said,it is better to be prepared.

hello. please I'm trying to find the origin of writing a letter to the u.s embassy to inform them that you now want to use the visa to give birth in the U.S. Because when one obtains a visa for tourism, for instance, and visits as intended, and then decides the second time to use the same visa to attend a course or conference, do we write the embassy to inform them of change of plans? and, medical purposes is one of the stated accepted uses of a B1/B2 visa. so, I dont know how it started that there is a need to inform visa of change of plans to medical use. or was it the V.O in the other thread who advised?
When you write the embassy, theywould even respond that you are not mandated by law to inform them that you are going to give birth, they would just advice you to hold enough money to cover all your expensis and make sure you have all your receipts with you when you come back.
I guess the letter to the embassy was introduced when POE officers started asking if the visa was gotten for the purpose of coming to give birth in the us,so the person can respond that even though it wasent gotten for that purpose, they communicated their intention to the embassy before travelling and they have the embassy's reply as proof of doing so. This is just my opinion.

I eventually visited JPS Hospital today. It's in Fort Worth Dallas. They gave a quote of $2500 for normal delivery, $3500 for C.S, $1500 for Og/Gyn. These fees exclude pediatrician's fees and anaesthesia which is $1600 and it is optional. The only hitch is that they requested for a proof of address in the US in your name in form of any utility bill eg phone bill, water bill or any other. The $2500 covers for all your antenatal visits and 2 sonograms. You are required to make a deposit but you must pay your bills before delivery (I think that of the pediatrician comes after delivery). I will give you details of my POE experience shortly..

@LittleHug
This JPS deal for sweet well well o,if not for the Proof of us address snag. Most of us on this forum dont have proof of us address, thats the only catch. This means its for us residents only abi?

They might also ask for evidence of accomodation and why do you want to come to US to have baby.

Best regards.
@LittleHug i am really intrested in this your JPS hospital deal (if its true, that is very fantastic o!) Pls keep us informed o. How was your POE experience? would love to read it.
You can also look up Dr Dennis Abass too, though his bills are not as low as JPS.

finally another dallas person most peeps are Houston or El Paso bound
biko do you have an obgyn? I sent a mail to one and he is yet to reply, the others I contacted by phone said I have to book an appointment in person before they can give me a cost break down?
I am thinking of using Dr Dennis Abass ( you can google him)someone mentioned him on this forum some time ago, according to the person his bill is $2,400 ,which includes some lab texts. Hospital bill is $3,000 (i think). I tried calling Dr Abass's office to book an appointment and get an email quote from them, but they refused, that i can only get an appointment and discuss bills in person. I allso emailed a couple of other doctors in Dallas area without any responce.
I would advice you get in touch via email with any of the Houston doctors mentioned on this thread that are willing to accept email or phone booking and print out your correspondence with them ( which should include a letter saying they would accept you and statting their bills),so that you have something to show the VO and also to show at POE. I hope this helps.

Would advice you to change your pounds to dollars before you leave 9ja,it dosen't make sence to go to amee with pounds, cause you will still need to change it to dollars b4 you use it,and moreover,it will help you at POE showing them USD instead of pounds. But most importantly, declear the exact amount you have to the nearest kobo if you are going with cash above 10K

Please note that she got her visa last year and was to travel for xmas but was told that it was too cold so they decided to go in July only for her to take in sometime in April. They had bought their ticket so cancelled it so she can go for birthing. What documents will she require at the port of entry and hope this will not pose any issue for her?
Anyone with same experience? Please help out.
I would seriously you advice her to read the whole blog and if not the whole from at least page 100,what she would gain from this cant be over emphasised.Thar said.
The good thing here is that she did not lie during her visa interview that she was not pregnant, because truely at that time she wasent.
It is imortant she writes a letter to the embassy informing them that she is using the visa for birthing purpose, will advice she writes to both lagos and abuja which ever reply suits her the most she should use, their email are consularabuja@state.gov and lagosniv@state.gov.
She should dowload the consent form for her husband to notarise before she leaves,i have heard that some states in the us requires the form to be notarised @ the us embassy while others accept just notarisation from any notary public
She should also go with doctors coresponde o, and enough cash o.

The doctors charge include all the tests and sonogram. Like I am a rhesus negative and they are not charging extra fee for my anti d Rogan injection. You can google him and make your decision.
