Chiefia:What obama did was politically correct. We need to separate political opinion from personal opinion. On a personal level, Obama does not believe in gay marriage.. He is married to a woman and have 2 kids. But as a leader he have to form inclusive government of all sexual orientations. Again this is politics not religion. Am a straight guy myself and dont believe in Gay marriage. But whats my business in what 2 " consenting adults" are doing behind closed doors Thats their business not mine ![]() |

Well those "alleged" projects needz to be audited to make sure work was actually done and due process was followed in awarding the contracts. |
Seun:Seun could you please move this thread to fp, I have a friend writting her dissertion in political science and one of the areas she is looking into is democracy in Africa. what Africans think or how satisfied are they about their respective systems of government. I believe opinions will go along way asssiting her and other People that might be faced with that question , she said she will reference opinions here for her final works. Thank you. Badgers14. |

workers payment should be a number top priority to ay state government. |

Osgee:Soldiers do shot drivers for N20 too, and military do run away from criminals too. but sir, you missed the point. Military are not "trained" to deal with civilians while police are trained to deal with civilians. A military officer does not have any business on the streets except in war zone or a serious national threat. In industrialized nations, military are never on the streets but police are. Thank you. Dollyak:Thanks for your opinion, currently in our system of government, local government chairmen and councillors just sit down and shop money, no one holds them accountable for anything. |
barcanista:PMB's decision is very plausible. Except from Boko Haram infested states, i see no reason why military should be on the streets. The streets are for the police becuase they are better trained to interact with civilians in day to day activities unlike the military. |
Seun:Fair point!! I believe it depeneds on the angle you look at both systems of government. But the issue just like everyother democratic system is oversight, and proper implementation. The current federal system of government is not the best for Nigeria in my own opinion. I was looking at the system in terms of regional responsibility, now lately every state have their eyes on oil leaving thier own major source of revenue behind. Then power rotation or hausa was president this year Igbo have to be the next president. Also people tend to look at Federal govt for everything, infrastructures where state government is sort of like left to loot the states resources for personal gains. Also in the U.S every state makes its own laws, manages its resources build infrastructures then the federal government , supports the state e.g Medicaid, Medicare e.t.c. and acts as a referee if any crisis arises between two states, U.S supreme court makes decision that will impact the whole U.S while state supreme court deals with state laws. I might not have drawn my opinion very nicely but thats just me. If you could please move the thread to fp so other Nigerians will throw in their opinions. Danke Schön |
I was every happy with the elections this year, regardless of your political perspective, this election really opened the eyes of everyone. Unlike the previous elections were most people felt non – chalant about the process. Now after the elections, the big question still remains; which direction is the country heading? A lot of Agitation from North, South-South, South – East (Biafra), South-west. Almost all the geo-political zones are upset with the way the federal allocation is shared, most states have their eyes on oil money, and some wants to secede. In my humble “opinion” I would “suggest” for the interest of peace and unity, Nigeria should change from Federal system of government to Parliamentary system of government e.g German System of Government. Return back to the roots before the amalgamation, having “Eastern”, “Western”, “Northern” and the “Middle belt”, each regions harness their natural resources , develop their regions and contribute a certain percentage to the National Coffers. Then we have a Ceremonial Head of State, and the largest party in the senate “select” the prime minister. The prime minister just checks on the overall well-being of the union and acts a “referee” if any conflict arises between the state. How did I come up with this you might ask , well, Fair question, as we could see now every geopolitically zone feels they are not properly represented at the federal level and the issue of zoning I believe is a very bad idea. Naturally Speaking even though we are “one Nigeria”, the oneness is just literally not practically because Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba have different views, different cultures and all and it will serve their best interest if they govern themselves .Also I find it absurd that some Northern States (e.g Bauchi ) will have the gut to demand 13% of oil derivation, which oil are they talking about What happened to Agriculture that the Northern States were prominent for in the 60’s and 70’s Every State wants to take take and take from the oil coffers but they neglect their own Natural resources, what happened to the coal Mines, tin ore, Ajaokuta steel company , our Groundnut production, palm oil e.t.c. All the states pretty much abandoned their other source of revenue and wait for the handouts from Oil Derivation. Please, I “Might” be miscalculating some facts but this is my opinion. Feel free to correct or drop your opinion. Happy New Week.. Cc: lalasticlala |
