But Akola, which season did chelski set a premiership record for goals scored?

I'm curious because I'm not aware of them being high goal scorers as such

I am 100% sure i knew Jackal before you. Its obvious i like him and about 5 others very well. I like Footie arguments with them. Even though we have been watching football before he was born but Kitaun and I gladly welcome him to the Elders council in spite of "little"age grin.

He and others knows i don't like all those Vulgar comments passed not only to me but everyone. I run immediately they(including Jackal) starts that.

I am not quite but them say the vulgar add "flavour". I wonder when that become Funmi's seasoning!
Akola, that's very true. For a while there, I mistook you for I-man who usually joins in with Jackal during his daily barking frenzy. Oya Jackal, leave Akola, or bear the consequences.

Hey honey, how're you? Good to see your flu is gone. I hear you guys set a record in football. I'm now waiting for Akola to confirm when this record was set. Did you watch the villa game? It was a marvellous game. Why did Abrahamovich leave the pitch? To get to the other side Nobody knows.

In order to make a record of 40,000 post on Nairaland, you don't need Chelsea or JM to make up to that. There are so many threads/discussion segments on Nairaland, so you can still make it up in other section.

(1) Who are you to be questioning JM's tactics? Have you any investment in Chelsea or do you sell Kebab at Queens road? grin. Are you a chelsean? WHY MUST JM play YOU WANT? tongue

(2) Arsenal regularly play attractive footie and we've seen the PROCEED from that.

(3) Yes we played most boring but was happy to score the highest number of goals in one season EVER in premiership history, a feat that is unequal and probably that will never be broken at least in this world. cool

(4) Unfortunately Isrealites don't need advice from Pharaohon the way to reach Canan.

(5) Again, we don't need your advice.

Kitaun and other gunners once accused me of "too-Arsenalistic", obsessed sort of. They are 100% right. I withdrew myself to my team and general comments.

Mr Jackal, What concern your Agbero with our Overload?
Oga Akola, what season was this when Chelsea scored the highest number of goals ever o?

Let's take a moment and check - Chelsea has won the premiership twice.

Year 1: 2004/2005 season. Chelski goals: 72. Arsenal goals: 87. Man U Goals: 57
Year 2: 2005/2006 season. Chelski goals: 72. Arsenal Goals: 68. Man U Goals: 72
Last season it was Man u:89 Chelski:83 Arsenal 68

So when was this record set o? When have you set this record?
LiteratureRe: Do You Write Foreign Fiction? I Do, Lets Talk! by Banderas(m): 9:57am On Sep 06, 2007
Const6, do I have an agent? No. I sell myself to editors directly. I don't know who your agents are, but I tell you one thing - if you were to submit anything like that to my critique group, you won't even get a response. It's not such a good synopsis, it's more of an odd sounding monologue.
I'm quite sure that your novel is going to be interesting and captivating, but in the end, the last word lies with the editor/publisher, not with the agent.

You need to ask yourself what your target audience is, and then try and find out how they think and speak. Nobody I know thinks or speaks like that.

Apache - foreign Fiction. When I said I write/wrote foreign fiction, what I meant was that I wrote fiction, for the foreign market. But also, my fiction is such that you don't need to have lived in the area to write it - it's all imaginary places and people.

You need to realise that all these authors you spoke about wrote about Africa, but wrote about it in a way that was "palatable" and readable for the international crowd. And these Clancy's, Puzos and co, are also human. Mario Puzo is definitely not an english name, so if he can write that well, why can't I? Seriously, why must we limit ourselves?

Here's the thing - I want to be a GREAT WRITER, and NOT a great Nigerian writer. Of course it's going to cost me, it already does. The numerous books in my bookshelves, as well as the volume of notepads I've been through (I prefer to write my first draft with pen and paper - My mind works better that way) testifies to this. I also spend time and resources going to writers meets, and book fests. So while I get your point about people being realistic, I still believe people need to reach out. There's a popular saying: If you're going to the moon, aim for the sun.

And a peice of advice to all other authors in the make: Don't give up your day job.

Oh Please. Jackal attacks everyone from time to time, friend or foe. That's his way. He's not being malicious or sly, and those of us here have become used to him being like that. I don't see Akola complaining (Why should he, he's seen Jackal attack other people before and he kept quiet).

The thing is - we like Jackal the way he is. He may be a bit of an idiot sometimes, but he brings a special "flavour" into the sports section.

Jackal, as agberos in Naija wd say "Go on soun joo", and don't mind all these people complaining.
So because of 4 games played in a season that lasts 38 games, you are now convinced that Arse-anal are top 2 contenders. There are 34 games remaining for you guys to play.By this reckoning,Everton are title contenders and Wigan were title contenders in 2005/2006.

How can any person, other than an ignoramus, conclude from 4 games, what is going to happen over the next 33 or 34 games?
Yep, lots of people apart from your so-called ignoramus(es?) can predict. All you need is the gift of prophecy, or a great deal of luck.

PoliticsRe: Who Are Your 5 Most Respected Nigerians ? by Banderas(m): 3:37pm On Sep 04, 2007
denex:
1) Uthman Ibn Fodee (Usman Dan Fodio): for his ability to conquer and unite all the Hausa states of Nigeria into one Caliphate. For his great books on philosophy, warfare and economics (if not for his books, Oyibo for still dey claim say na them teach us how to read and write). For his democratic and republic Sultanate system of government and for his wisdom in retiring and handing over power in due time.

2) Pat Utomi: for studying the uniqueness of Nigeria and solving problems according to the Unique culture, people and terrain.

3) Mallam Aminu Kano: for his sincere effort and personal sacrifice at alleviating the problems of the masses.

4) Nnamdi Azikiwe: totally without any tribal bias. He focused on the big picture.

5) Jaja of Opobo & Nana of Itsekiri: for having great insight in quickly shifting the Economy from Slave Trade to Oil Palm trade without friction.
I respect Governor Nana of Itsekiri for handling the Niger-Delta problem which is seeming impossible today.
Especially though, I respect King Jaja of Opobo for giving up his life just to return to the motherland even though he was certain that the British would kill him en route from exile.
King Jaja of Opobo was the only leader in the world not to sign his people into colonialism on the basis of the inability of the British to adequately define the words "Protectorate" and "Protection" as contained in the document.
Denex, learn your history. Learn it properly.

1) Uthman enslaved more Nigerians than the british did. They were "mailed" over to Arabia. And islamic rule can NEVER be democratic.
2) Zik cut a deal with the british to "unite" with the north. It was a british vision, not a Zik-ish one.
3) Aminu Kano hardly even knew what he was doing. He was a puppet in the arms of his masters.

The other two I'll possibly agree with,

Jackie - I never claimed Drogba was better than RVN, in fact I never mentioned RVN until after you did. I was talking about premiership strikers in my first comment about Drogba
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 4:35pm On Sep 03, 2007
Jackal, it's normal, when your team plays amazing football, you kept getting fouled. And we don't award the penalties, it's the ref that awards them,
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 4:29pm On Sep 03, 2007
jackie - common stop that. Scholes was trying to "lock" the boy's leg, and fab4 was trying to regain his balance. Besides Schole's groin must have been in the wrong place (on the floor) for them to be able to "match" it.

You realise that Moaninho said something similar against um devils last season i.e. always getting the decisions

TKB - I bet the chelski press machine have sanctioned both JT and Cashley by now.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 4:14pm On Sep 03, 2007
I-man, you know there are always sentiments in these choices. I'll try to be as transparent as possible.

I would go for Vidic, and Toure, or Callagher and Toure just to inject pace into my defence. Though in fact I'll wait to see who I'm playing before chosing my defence. Against a team with Drogba and Crouch for example, toure will cool the bench for 90 minutes.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 4:07pm On Sep 03, 2007
The point is that he is not the best.He is atleast behind Vidic,Terry and Carragher
You see, the word "best" is always relative, that is why I always avoid using absolute terms, as different from relative. Personally this season, I don't rate Terry better than Toure. Maybe Carragher. I haven't had time to observe Vidic this season, so I'll refrain from rating him.

In other words, all four of them are top defenders, and with their present form, will get first team appearance in most top-flight teams.

@ Jackal - I totally agree with the Aerial dominance, but pace and recovery also matters, and I have seen all three of these guys left gasping for breath before (I have seen Toure left behind too, )
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 3:59pm On Sep 03, 2007
I-man, can we discuss this? Are you honestly claiming that Toure doesn't rank amongst the top defenders in the premiership?

Jackal - John Terry? Maybe Carragher. Vidic? Possibly. But they are all in a similar category.

How may I ask do you rate them better than Toure?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 3:16pm On Sep 03, 2007
I-man. Okay. But jagielka was playing as a GOALIE. So they had a goalie, not that they played without a goalie.

Sheffield beat us.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 3:04pm On Sep 03, 2007
I-man, they only lost their goalie for about 10 minutes o, don't say it as if we played them without a goalie for the entire match.

Guys dey o!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by Banderas(m): 3:01pm On Sep 03, 2007
Oga Jack, who said RVN was ages below Drogba?

But RVN no longer plays in the premiership, so it's a different scenario. RVN IMHO was for the large part of his career at manure a grateful recipient of Beckham's crosses. When Becks left, his goal scoring plunged. Soon after he followed becks to spain and started scoring again,

For the record, I rate RVN very very highly as a striker.

Jackal - let's disagree to agree about Rooney - I think on a good day he can be phenomenal. It's your opinion about Saha that worries me - I don't see him as being that good, seriously.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 2:58pm On Sep 03, 2007
I-man, you admitted he was partly at fault. I admire your honesty. I also believe that Neville was better than Lauren, but not Ashley Cole, not back in the day. Current form however, these young boys are waay too strong and too fast for him.

Dodgy refereeing has happened so many times in Arse/Manure matches, so we can't keep blaming that. It was a great goal. I can't see that foul - I have to assume it wasn't in the clip I sent- what I saw there was two determined players take on a former legend and Evra. And win.

Jackal - I see what you're saying, and we'll never know unless RVP becomes a winger.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by Banderas(m): 2:52pm On Sep 03, 2007
Men - I didn't say Drogba is the best o, I said I rate him highly. I think RVP is a phenomenal footballer, but he's more of a complete footballer than a striker at the moment. Drogba, based on last season's form was a better striker than RVP. This season may be different, though RVP hasn't quite settled into his proper form.

And for the record, I think Aderogba is a horrible cheating Arrow, but I he is also a talented horrible cheating Arrow.

Adebayor and Saha are miles behind.

Berba yes, I rate him as highly, same as Anelka. Not Torres, not yet.

Rooney? He has miles to go,

RVN - another top quality striker. You need to realise that the both of them play similar football: Hold off the defenders, turn and score.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 2:46pm On Sep 03, 2007
See set up. I-man, do you actually expect me to answer that question?

Jackal - I totally agree.

I note that the forum is devoid of all the Chelski fans today, what happened to Razorr and the rest of them? How come they can't contribute to the arguments today? Oh, i know - it's because of Ashley Young and Agbonlahor!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 2:41pm On Sep 03, 2007
Jackal, so it's blind side, not that he was ahead of him. I agree. But blind side or no, Van Persie beat him to score that goal. I'm very sure SAF will not accept it if Neville tells him "It wasn't my fault boss, the geezer came in from my blind side".

Blind sides are legitimate dribbles in football.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 2:30pm On Sep 03, 2007
Jackie, make I no too talk, you can see the goal in this link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=1Kl-kg9yfhk

Van Persie came from BEHIND Neville to score that goal.

Ronaldo didn't get near maldini if I remember correctly - he lived in Gattuso's pocket for the entire game. If he had been allowed to run at Maldini, it would have been a whole new matter

MC Omo - I didn't mention those guys because they play on the other side of the field.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 2:26pm On Sep 03, 2007
I-man, hahaha. I don't know what position Cantona played, so I only started watching the premiership lately? For your information, Cantona retired in 1997 - that's 10 years ago. Some of us were busy schooling in those days, and were unable to follow football. But if you call 10 years recent, then perhaps I should call you papa?

And Wenger won some titles at Monaco. I wonder who started watching football recently now.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by Banderas(m): 2:11pm On Sep 03, 2007
Jackal - you have a point. I wouldn't go ahead and say Drogba is the best striker, but I'll say this for sure - he certainly is one of the very best. I rate him alonside superstrikers like Etoo, Anelka and Berba. I rate him above anything that Arsenal or Manure have at the moment.

Nateevs - the under21 team that you were unable to beat last season? Or another under21 boy (okay, he actually is 22) who totally dismantled your beloved Belletti on sunday?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 2:02pm On Sep 03, 2007
No. Fergie is NOT superior to Wenger. Until Fergie fields an £40M team, we can't compare them. Rooney and Ronaldo alone almost cost more than the entire Arsenal squad, which is valued at about £34M (we don't know Almunia's fee)

Only an idiot will say Fergie isn't a great coach, in my book he is better than Jose. In my book Wenger too is better than Jose.

Jackie - you're quite right, I was taking the mick, ManU should be able to make 10th position this season.

More importantly though, I'd like to see how Jose will react if he goes three matches without a win. Will he get fired up, or will he start falling apart on the seams as a lot of people expect him to?

The fact is that Morinho hasn't been through the fire and the flame the way Fergie and Wenger have been
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 1:41pm On Sep 03, 2007
Jackie, I'll give you a list

1 - Luke Young
2 - SWP
3- An overlapping Gael Clichy.

Any of these three will beat Garry on pace alone. Add a little bit of skill, and Garry will be in trouble.

Hleb will defo dribble Gary, he's bigger than Reyes and made of sterner stuff, so Gary can't kick him around.

I remember RVPersie beating Garry to score Arsenal's equaliser last season.

And his overlapping runs will leave you open, especially now that Rio is misfiring.
