Feel good pictures mixed in with virtual reality (unrealistic) pictures. O yea parts of Abuja are very pretty. Why not? They pour money into this white elephants at the expence of the people.

Please go to any of the numerous shanty mosquito and poverty infested towns and show them the reviews and pictures. It will make them giddy to be Nigerians (swimming in so much opulence)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Yoruba have had a more than fair share of rulership in the last 8 years. Except they are greedy and power-drunk, they should go and start again from the lowest rung of the ladder. They should therefore be content with the post of deputy senate president. As of today, the East cannot have the senate presidency, but they should have the Speaker position, and from there position themselves to contend for the next presidency with the south south when the rotation swings south again.

When a man of high intelligence speaks, everyone knows it. Cod you should be very proud of yourself.

If you realy understand the selective politics Nigeria practises, you will know certain offices are zoned to a particular area. It has nothing to do with tribal issue, but I guess you are just stuck on that enh! genius

Yes he has promised to do retoactively.

Pls read his own words:

The President-elect, Umar Musa Yar’Adua, has cautioned members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that the task of nation building is too important for them to get carried away with the celebrations of his victory in the presidential elections. He said that only the best material will be part of his cabinet in his task of ruling the country.

He said this while receiving the P.D.P Presidential Campaign Nationwide Coordinators who paid him a courtesy call at the Akintola Aguda House .

Speaking further, Yar’Adua declared,"only the best will be good enough to be part of my cabinet because of my goal to make Nigeria one of the top 20 nations of the world by year 2002."!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you all know it. Up Yar'adua up PDP gawment magic continues

Our experts should instead find a way to make the parties that exist more legit. many of the lesser parties in Nigeria that share common ideologies should merge so they can compete with the big ones.

That is just the problem, our politicians are not matured enough nor have enough morals to coalesce into one single or maybe a couple of formidable opposition parties. As long as they think they can get easy money from the government by starting unviable visionless parties, every Sule, Bode, and Chuks will start his own useless party.

What this then comes to, is to legislate a plural or tripartite State which will also discourage party affiliations based on ethnicity.

It is this same Awo who is so respected by many that Obasanjo ridiculed saying he wanted to be president so much it eluded him. Obasanjo and PDP even went as far as pulling down his statue in Ibadan.

20 years after the death of the great sage, people still have nothing but good things to say about him.
Obasanjo is still fighting with his ghost, trying to be relevant. what a shame on the evil one

Your outburst is very misplaced. You hate a man for doing the right thing?
As much as I believe the PDP stole the (s)elections, I also believe Atiku helped the PDP by weakening the opposition because of his selfish agenda. No one would elect Atiku as president for he is damaged goods. As much as he fought to clear his name, he is guilty as charged and everyone knew that.

Tinubu made himself look bad by sticking with a tainted friend for so long, when most of us advocated that he jettison him like a heavy cocoon, but he stuck with him through the elections.
That is what i call real loyalty, but now that the elections are over, Tinubu surmised quite rightly that the tribunals will not help Atiku and for the sake of Lagos State, he is mending fences with a more reasonable Yar'Adua as opposed to the recalcitrant and vindictive Obasanjo.

It however remains to be seen if Obasanjo will leave well enough alone!

If they believed so much in Awo, why would they lock him up and issue decrees in his name, just because he refuses to go along with a wrong? I am pretty sure he would have turned them down at that, because he was a just man who believes in equity for all.
Still the question lingers, were these men not acting out a sectional agenda by only murdering politicians of Northern and Western extraction?

Just because one has an accent does not make him dumb. That is not corrupt is debatable, that has already been refuted in his declaration of assets where he claimed N500 million, an astronomical figure compared to his asset declaration of 2003.

That he won the (s)election, depends on whose side you are on, PDP or people who saw the glaring inconsistencies and shenanigans called April general (s)elections. What primaries did he win?

Lets face it the man is a non-performer, like it or not. He didn't do anything with Katsina and he is unable to fathom what to do with Nigeria. He doesn't even have the guts to pick his own cabinet, saying he will simply use the ho hum cabinet of Obasanjo.

Tell me what this portrays of the gentle humdrum man who is not even known nor like by his own people.

$46 Million only, the man is a real small thief to steal such a measely sum of money. By Nigerian standard, Presidents steal billions, sart numerous schools, airlinr, transcorp, chicken farms etc. He should be sent to prison (err i mean safe haven a la Taylor) in Nigeria, to be school properly in the art of KLEPTOCRACY. If he were to steal billions now, and allow his cronies to loot all parastals and ministries, he will get the title of BABA

Here is a new take by Professor David-west, about the charade called April general elections:

Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu, has drawn flaks from former oil minister and fellow professor, Tam David-West, over his defiant attitude to criticisms of the April polls generally perceived to be flawed.

Iwu had at the presentation of the certificate of return to the declared winner of the presidential election, Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua, in Abuja Wednesday lampooned critics, scoring his commission 80 per cent success in the conduct of the election.

But reacting to Iwu’s tirade yesterday, Prof. David-West asked the INEC boss to shut up, as he had only awarded himself a dubious pass mark. “If as a professor, I understand he is one, he has scored the fraudulent election a pass mark, I wonder how many students who failed in his class he has sent into the job market.”

David West faulted Iwu’s claim with the irregularities noted in the elections in Anambra and his (David West) home state, Rivers, saying what Iwu’s INEC perpetrated in the two states was “a disgrace to his profession, the university system and the intellectual community.”

He wondered how the INEC boss could be proud of himself when in Anambra his commission was forced to adjust the votes of the declared winner from 1.9 million to one million after discovering that the total number of voters was 1.7 million.

He went further: “In my state, Rivers, by the 2006 census, the adult population is two million, using the international 45 per cent demographic standard, the total population being 5.1 million. Now, the 45 per cent include mad men and women on the streets, patients on hospital beds, prisoners and people that had died during the period of the last census.

“Iwu said the winner of the governorship election had 1.9 million votes! Almost two million! In other words, all the adult population voted for the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party)! Is there any way they would all have registered and voted for the same party when there were other political parties?” David-West querried.

Besides this, the former minister noted that the fact that by- elections had to be conducted in 27 (75 per cent of the) states, a week later, showed that the elections were not only flawed but also fraudulent.
He declared Iwu as bankrupt in professional as well as political credibility.

His words: “He once lied professionally that he had found a cure for Ebola viral infection, when we had an outbreak of the epidemic. Now, I as a professor of virology, I’ve been since 1974, I know that viral infection cannot be cured. So, he thereafter ran away to America from where, I think they went to bring him for the job.
“Let him shut up. He asked us to go to hell. He is already in hell. We will not join him there.”

comment Iwu has a track record with stretching the truth to make himself look credible. Posterity will catch up with him, as it will all Obasanjo stooges. NO ONE LIVES FOREVER!

Only slight changes'' in personalities would happen after May 29, 2007 when the new administration of Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'adua takes over, the president-elect has announced.

President Obasanjo, who was also at the meeting, briefed Yar'adua on the activities of the council, which, he said, was set up by his administration to attract investments to the country.

There will be no difference because thge elections were an Obasanjo victory and an extension of his tenure by proxy.
The truth is yar'Adua has no clue about governance judging from his experience and noo-performance at Katsina State. He was aptly selected for the post of puppet president, where he will dance to the tune played by Obasanjo, with a supporting cast of a rubber stamp NASS (equally chosen (s)elected to perform a duty for the democratic government of Obasanjo for Obasanjo by his stooges.

There will be a 'slight change in personalities', because Yar'Adua cabinet was hand picked to the 'jungle emperor' himself.

Who are we fooling? no serious investor will bring his money to a crime ridden country infested by riggers, thugs and kleptomaniacs.
The shenanigans and charade of the April elections, will further butress the fact that Nigeria is a mere third world country retrogressing and chaired by a pariah and desport.

The opposite of loss of investments will continue to hold sway, until we learn how to clean up our acts.

People are advocating for a two party system because (1) it makes voting easier, (2) brings out the best candidates from parties where every contender goes through a primary system. (3) Establishes a clear cut ideology of either party, which gives people a clear cut choise of party which closely follows their beliefs. (4) establishes clear cut opposition party, (5) cuts down on cross carpeting of unscrupulous politicans. (6) This will also cut down on sectional politicking and allow the country to wax stonger together, bring cohesion of language. Last and not the least, cuts down on expenses of funding parties and eliminates parties of convinience where unqualified people only convene parties for the money they get to steal, not to talk of the chaos involved in having so many numerous parties.

I will however suggest maybe three parties not the chaotic twenty something!

Noone ever said all elections are perfect, some like the on in UK are more ttransparent than in Nigeria. You don't see thugs waylay you at the polling places, slap your face and tell you who to vote for.
There are no Adedibus and Ubas take ballot boxes to their homes and thumb print votes. The election commisions don't declare winners before voting is even completed.
These and so many more irregularities to favour a particular annointed party, are what people are complaining about. Most of our politicians where breed in the era our militancy, and our polity have continued to be militant where the administration breaks law to suit its whims and caprices, criminals are selectively prosecuted, corruption continues to soar unabated.

Nigerian election just cannot be compared with any nations', maybe with the exception Zimbabwe's.
In the last general elections in Denver, the electronic machines in some polling places malfunctioned, but there were back-up systems that the elections still concluded successfully without anyone being disenfranchised our coarsed our beaten up.
You say, 'apple and oranges' quite so! Nigeria's elections just cannot be believed!
