You may be unto something GeorgeD1, though mine sits around 60%...
I have them washed weekly sef grin

I'll equally do an assessment in a years' time.

I bought a 2kw "induction" cooker from Konga around December last year. I excitedly opened the package, got my trusted
aluminium pot, a cup of water and proceeded to test my new cooker.

To my surprise, within a few minutes the water was boiling!
Aluminium pots are not supposed to work on induction cookers.
When i lifted the pot, the cook top was red hot!!
The merchant had sold me a well packaged, 2kw hot plate!!!

I was furious, went online and gave him a very injurious review. angry
I'm still using the cooker, a 2kw resistive load on my Axpert inverters. They handle it without breaking a sweat.

earthrealm:
i wish it could handle my resistive loads...
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 10:26pm On Feb 15, 2018
grin grin About 45w each if I remember correctly. When i get home next month, i'll confirm.
About 90w*13hrs=1.2kwh by daybreak. Not much, considering my pv array.

Hot water. This particular area nearly gave me high bp, until Dapsyra's tweak!
My house: Base load is fully off-grid.
Aux load is on inverter 8am to 5pm.

How's your system treating you bro?

DMerciful:
Barezzi,
Always tweaking ur system cheesy. Anyways... What's the idle consumption of this Axpert?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 1:26am On Feb 15, 2018
Yes, I have 2 Genex Axpert inverters in parallel mode.
It carries everything i throw at it, no issues so far. 5 months and counting!

Each inverter has a 2.6kw array. They've been churning out amps like a demented coyote on heat.

NiyiOmoIyunade:
I believe Oga Pranil and someone else here have had success paralleling two such inverters together - with this config they are able to use iron and microwave without issues

Thanks dapsyra! This is why i love this thread.
I shall implement this immediately.

dapsyra:
Install timer switch on the water heaters and set them to run one after the other for 30 minutes each in the afternoon, preferably between 11am and 2pm. Once the water is boiled it is good for the next 24hours.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 9:14am On Feb 04, 2018
That sounds very stressful...What happens when you're out of town/home?
You may want to consider moving them to the roof.

DMerciful:

@Dmerciful,
You must have very understanding neighbours that don't mind your panels sticking out into their yard grin

@mcTrinity,
Yes, you can connect 4*325w Solarworld panels in series without issues.

Yes, the Classic. Dunno about the Outback.

kindly recommend an air conditioning unit brand that consumes low power such that i can conveniently power with my inverter.

NiyiOmoIyunade:
I use Flames 300w Mono Panels (21 units) to make up my 6.3kw array - sourced through Zeestone99 on this forum. Flames is a chinese product but I have found it to be good bang for the buck.

But please don't rush to buy more panels yet. What brand of panels are you using currently? You want to be sure to either keep the same exact panel brand and specs (VoC,VmP,Rated Current) or match them very closely. If you mix panels anyhow you may get suboptimal results especially when they are all connected to one CC.

Let us evaluate your loads and battery consumption vs. solar yield. Since you are ground mounted, have you washed off the harmattan dust from your panels? What kind of yield are you getting now? Your yield should be getting better as the year progresses except you have other issues e.g shading/shadows on your panels

If I assume you consume 50% of your 600ah 48v capacity between 6pm and 8am everyday that is 300ah @ 48v or roughly 14.4kwh overnight - this is a lot - do you run ACs off your batteries overnight? Have you put a timer on your freezer/fridge e.t.c. Do you have a meter to measure your overall household consumption per time e.g via the inverter monitoring interface?.

We should tackle this issue holistically because even if you get enough panels now to ensure a daily full charge, 50% DoD will give you a 2 to 3 year battery life and you can easily do better with a few tweaks.
Best advice/insight of 2018!

A trial will surely convince you. In terms of reliablity and durability, I can only talk for my products. We are doing our best. I can assure you that the only difference between our products and the popular foreign brands is the packaging.
I also know other Nigerian producers that are doing very well.
We have all the functions of a standard and quality inverter installed in our inverters. We are improving and using our resources to learn more technologies.

We were formerly using analog design.....later we started buying digital boards from foreigners ....Now we manufacture the boards and write the codes that runs them. We are improving...... We need you ........ You can trust us!
I am interested in purchasing ur product. What ratings are available? How much are they?

my problem with the home wireless solution is one more power hungry device. With a small usb data dongle connected to the Rpi you can have it do it's thing irrespective of an external wireless device. My home don't currently have a central wireless system because am yet to see the need in the age of mobile phone tethering, almost everyone has a data connected phone in the house. With regards to hacking.. changes are quite small. most consumer grade internet service provider don't give live IP to their customers. in fact you are access the web via their own giant NAT hence whatever ip you are given can't be routable anywhere but within their network and many of them (particularly MTN) have round robin IP address allocation system where by your IP address is always changing... Lastly every connected system should have a firewall.. block all then allow, configure fail2ban and enable automatic security update and you should be fine. most IOT devices are hopeless insecured even (and especially) wireless routers many of them carry out dated fimwares which have known exploits yet have not been patched. A Rpi in the hands of a capable person is a much more safer option IMHO
Fail2ban grin grin That feeling when u pour water on fowl grin grin

LOL No be only you brah!

At the end of the day, I want a solution that automatically uploads my LIVE production figures to pvoutput from my classics.
I have the PI 3, but it's gathering dust somewhere... I've loaded and wiped all sorts of images on it.

If the ICC Pranil mentioned can upload data from classics, then it's time to dust up the PI and put it to work again.

smiley the cheap Ipower does it directely with ICC on USB using a pi both PVout and emoncms local and remote ( .org)
Does it also capture data from Midnite Classics?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 3:04pm On Nov 30, 2017
Dapsyra, Do you still enter your production data to pvoutput.org manually or you've found a way to automate the process?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m):
JohnKester:
I would go with the Morningstar too. Apart from the already stated reasons, in the event that you want to expand your array, the second CC will make that possible without the need for a second CC as would be the case if Midnite were used. Since the Midnite is already maxed out, you will need to get another controller for future expansion.

Cheers
Well, at the end of the day, it's still 2 CCs in both scenarios.
Whether he buys the extra today or in future...
