bigrovar: won't be as efficient as diversifying to something like wind. over sizing should have it's limits especially considering the really tough months are July-August. if you overtly oversize your PV beyond your load, your system would be under utilised for the most part of the year Store the excess in water Water is a very good solar storage system, and you get the added benefit of a guaranteed hot bath. |

The thread is akin to a river, it ebbs and flows. On the other hand, there's prolly nothing new to discuss again. Just marketers/installers doing their thing and DIYers in hiding. |

samnaija: Sounds complex. But interesting . Can you pls gives us a break down of the system. Battery size, capacity, numbers and the type flooded, voltage also. your charge controller type and specs. My guy I am impressed. Not so complex, but nice way to implement it. I have already modified my parameters to mirror his strategy. Very rewarding results so far! Check his signature for the specs. |

dapsyra: I have a lot of opportunist loads that I run during the day like Water Heaters, Water Pump, Fridge, Freezer, Induction Cooker, Iron and Aircon.
My entire house is 100% off grid between 8am and 4pm. After 4pm, the Aircon, Iron and Induction cooker revert to grid power while the Water Heaters and Water Pump remain on Inverter power but are switched off. Fridge and Freezer remain ON on a two hours alternating cycle till 8am
I have a 20KWH battery bank from which I draw not more than 7KWH overnight. Afternoon bro, How do you manage your heavy loads during bad weather? Do you play power police? I have also implemented the 8am to 4pm strategy on my Heavy Loads DB, but the challenge is during bad weather when my water pump kicks in, it pulls the battery voltage dangerously low. I'm looking for an energy management system that can energize certain heavy loads at different solar production levels. |

Way to go Pranil... Have you jettisoned the Geywiserrobot project? It seems the best approach to solve the wahala below, as it's the same issue I'm faced with. DUNKA: chiefo the plumbing is also what had been putting me off installing a a solar water system. How did you handle the plumbing for multiple bathrooms and kitchen without extensive modifications of the existing plumbing works? Please further explanation would be appreciated to enable us understand the re plumbing |

pranil: The borehole pump does not need to be replaced ( if existing) it is always better to collect borehole water in a large tank after passing through a 20 or 10 micron filter - The settling allows the sediments to get reduced - the outlet of large tank ( typically 1000 -5000 ltr) will be directly connected through Booster to house . That way in remote cases of no power or failuers your client will atleast have flow of water to his taps the large tank does not need to be elevated but kept near the house or borehole That Way borehole pump is also not working with additional head. Incase a VFD bore hole pump is used ( in my case Grundfos MQ) it can run on as low as 100-150 watt
If time permits I will post the photos of my setup. My thoughts exactly! Abeg post photos, i'm salivating already. |

pranil: I have finally settled on a better solution in case somebody is interested The manual says maximum suction head is 8m. How do you implement this in a borehole setup without a GP subsurface buffer tank? |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Barezzi(m): 8:02pm On Jul 11, 2017 |
chris81964: It holds 160 liters that is under pressure. The pump can be much smaller less than half hp. The pump kicks in at a predetermined level set by you. Yes you need 24/7 power and that is what we provide Chris, Thanks for this, i personally hate overhead tank stands. They're really an eyesore on the skyline. At 160 litres, the submersible pump will cycle several times per day/night. At such high cyclic use, your client might need 2 or 3 pumps on hot standby cos of potential high failure rate. A holding GP tank will reduce that cycling. The oversimplified sketch below is how I'd implement it.
