TheSuperNerd: Yeah, they are doing very well at least compared to what obtains at most other academies around the country but trust me, I pick up other high yield young talents' names scattered across other academies like FC Ebedei for instance (as one of many) who gave us Onuachu, Frank Onyeka and now Raphael Onyedika who all passed through Ebedei's Danish partners, FC Midtjylland.
Another lad from Ebedei, a GK, Mark Nnamdi Ugboh is with the first team of FC Midtjylland now. He is 18.
And another midfielder just got signed by them from FC Ebedei for FC Midtjylland's U19. Jamiu Musbaudeen is the name. Also 18 yrs and a CM. I mentioned it on this thread. Will quote it again.
And there are several others and the talents they are currently yielding and which I got tabs on. All about allowing Time do its work.
Fc Ebedie have been there since the days of Obafemi Martins. They have produced a few good players, I think their proprietor have connections with a few scouts in Europe especially in the Nordic countries. Their business process is simply, scouting players and marketing the players to their European contacts. I haven't seen anything about their training facilities, coaching or investment on ground. They seem to operate from a portfolio. If they own hostels and training ground, we would know.
Before Remo I used to think Kwara academy will be THAT academy especially with the publicity and Westerhof involvement as their principal but the place is run-down now. I follow them on Facebook and tbh their facilities are completely in ruins.
Meanwhile, speaking of Remo Stars, they just recently exported another one to Portugal's Liga Portugal Bwin side, Famalicao. Two days ago.
18 yrs old Winger, Agbeko Morgan from the Beyond Limits Academy and parent club, Remo Stars.
I'm really impressed with Remo stars. Their training facility is almost world class. Some of their players will be worth serious money in a short time. We need 100 Remo academies in Nigeria.
TheSuperNerd: We used to have an NFF U13 and U15 program ACTIVELY Functioning and playing games couple of years ago but not hearing about that now. It was functional under Maigari I believe and still functional for bit under Pinnick as we had Lateef Omidiji then play alongside Olatomi Olaniyan in the Nigerian U15 team to a few tourneys in Morocco or so.
Such programs yielded the likes of Awoniyi, Iheanacho and few more.
We also have had the LMC Youth promises U15 tourneys across the country. But it's not consistent.
We have had a few good grassroots programs but our problem is the CONSISTENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF these programs. Today, they are active... the next year it is like nothing is happening.
Right now, it is the Academies network at the grassroots level we have in Nigeria that is giving us glimmers of hope. The likes of FC Ebedei, Beyond Limits FA (Remo stars), Simoiben, etc, etc.
The last U17 Wafu B tournament saw our U17 side play the best and most breathtaking football of all sides even overcoming a more physically imposing and equally technical Burkina Faso side. The Ivorians in the Semis too were really tactically drilled but our lads overcame.
Our U17 system at the national level is far from perfect but it has continued to yield genuine talents for us under the right consortium of coaches who select the best lads across the various finest grassroots academies in the country to drill them into one solid team schooled in the tactics and sciences of the game to the best of what our facilities can offer.
Lads like Emmanuel Michael, Ebube Okere, Ozor Okeke, Basil Mbata, Abubakar Abdullahi, Light Eke, Precious Williams, Jibril Azeez, Raphael Oyebanjo, Miracle Ogwor, Yusuf Lawali, Jeremiah Olaleke, Richard Odoh are lads to keep eyes on currently ahead of the Next U17 Afcon coming up early next year.
Of these lots, the likes of goalkeeper Richard Odoh, defenders Emmanuel Michael, Jeremiah Olaleke and Yahaya Lawali as well as striker Abubakar Abdullahi Idris, who scored a brace in the Final against Burkina Faso all made the WAFU B Team Of the Tournament.
So we are raising our own local boys but it is still in an imperfect system. Hopefully things get better. HOPEFULLY.
The truth is that we are not serious. Having a grassroot competition at U13 level is one thing, developing those talents in an elite environment with world class coaching and facilities is totally a different thing entirely. Currently, ONLY Remo stars have anything close to being fit to be called an academy. And Remo is still building, they aren't fully running at maximum capacity. In a country of 200 million, we need atleast 100 of these kind of facilities and academy spread across various states. England, a country of 67million have over 50 elite academies.
Our football industry is largely under developed. If we develop a working football program with these elite academies and a proper league system from the Amateur div 1 to the Premier league to incubate these talents. Within a few years you will have tens of Nigerian players competing at the very top of Uefa competitions unlike what we currently parade.
TheSuperNerd: You are an Arsenal Fan. You must be excited.
Personally, I don't think we will get him unless ofcourse he somehow falls off the English interest radar. But he's just 15 and highly talented so I don't know and don't think we have a chance FOR NOW. Kid is already set on England as things stand.
Perhaps in the next 6 years we would know for sure if we can get him. And Half a dozen yrs is quite a while to be honest.
I agree 6yrs is a long time but trust the English to take care of him. He's also in a top5 academy in the world, his chances of failure is not so high. Instead of hoping that he falls off the English radar so we get him, why can't the NFF develop a program on its own to develop our local boys here rotting away in the suburbs?
charlesemeka85: no matter what you can’t deny the fact that he is also Nigerian even if he has the ambition to play for England in the future
Saw some clips of the lad on YouTube and bobo dey ball no be small.
Very creative and sound technically. England has a big talent in their hands in the lad
He's Nigerian but Nigeria is not entitled to his talent. He is being developed by another nation, they must always have that right of first refusal. It's like a sperm donor claiming ownership of a kid he birthed instead of the foster parents who did the actual parenting and raised the child. The English reserves the right to first refusal. Go to our ghettos, you will see madly talented kids better than this guy who have no access to proper facilities, coaching and academy. The job of the NFA is to create an eco system to birth these talents.
The Nigerian NBA coach at Boston Celtics is being cooked. Apparently he had intimate relationship with a female staff against the franchise code of conduct. His career is on the line sadly.
ShaqFu: What is wrong with this Peter Obi. It now appear as if he's carried away with the social media frenzy.
Anybody planning a rally or whatever it is should have a serious rethink. The security situation in the country is more than enough reason for anybody planning whatever to desist from such plan.
I'm sure if or when they hold that rally, and things go south, this same Peter Obi and his cronies will be the ones blaming the government for what they use their hands to cause.
Are you guys saying political rallies should be banned in Lagos? Are you suggesting that participants of the said rally will turn the rally to a riot? Destroying properties when unattacked? By "things going south" as you implied, do you mean some other groups might turn up to unleash violence on the obidents? Come out clean sir
I love this Groovy my man Phyna show them pepper Put fire but let it not hurt you London babe what brought you to naija I no need to dye ask I definitely know it's hunger fool
Bella I once like you o But when u started following that fool I hated u
To those gloating and celebrating about this list affecting mostly Igbos, they should realize this report was for registered voters between June 2021- January 2022. Within this period, there was no Obi. Igbos and Nigerian youths weren't going out en-mas to register at this period. Make of this what you want.
And yes... He is Eligible to play for Nigeria but needs a switch first.
The guy will come good. He's a top talent, the highest rated player in Arsenal academy and from the looks of it, he's transitioning into a phenomenal striker in men's football. Hopefully the Americans are blind to ignore him.
Is anyone keeping an eye on Balogun? The Arsenal guy on loan at Remis? Apparently, he's breaking records and doing Kylian Mbappe numbers in the French league. Is he still eligible for Nigeria?
Tonye Barcanista is a political analyst and social commentator. He writes on Nairaland.com and @TonyeBarcanista on Twitter
Tonye, do you know that even in your Pdp cell meetings at ward level, people are openly saying they will work for Pdp at the state level but Obi at the federal level? I happen to be in such a gathering and it's very clear the Atiku boat have sailed. Pdp will not win a single local government in the better South, come 2023. Bookmark this.
BlazinGlory40: Bro, I’m an Obi supporter. But he mustn’t do the same things others do. This is a good appointment no doubt but he has to be careful because his haters are already labeling his campaign igbo project. Others might do certain things and get away with it but not him. Hopefully, he diversifies his next campaign appointments.
I think this man will work under Doyin Okupe, the campaign DG. I don't know where the issue of diversity is coming from really.
Komu1048: The best way to solve security is to vote Tinubu 2023. Nigerians must not do mistake of voting Obi, his victory is a win for Ipob. They will extend their madness to every part of Nigeria. U don't need to be told their is no part of Nigeria that there no Igbo man. It will be so easy for them to kill millions of Nigerian. Esp the SS n SW becox u can't even identify them unlike how we easily identify a Fulani.
Most Ipob can speak local diet of where they base, they can dress and disguise without being recognized.
Use NE as a case study, during Jonathan time. They were killing in their region but couldn't reach out to other region the president is not their kinsmen. Immediately Buhari enter we all bleed for it.
Now ipob is more deadlier than Fulani, they are educated, more strategic, more financing knows cronies n creeks. And they hate Nigerians more.
Now u want to add federal power to everything they had. I am very sure port Harcourt, Benin n Lagos will be their most hit destination.
The only answer is to vote Tinubu, he is a detribalise man. As governor he employed so much igbos and hausa into Lagos employment scheme. Go to Alausa and verify, they are now in level 14 n 15. There is no area of Lagos employment you won't find every Nigerian ably represented n he is not secretly financing any terror group. Don't dare vote Atiku, he is the number one financier of Boko Haram, he is their patron.
Osanoghodua1: If you scrap NYSC, the North will be lacking in school teachers and some private schools down South. It's okay to scrap it or reduce it to geopolitical zones.
Those schools will be forced to employ more permanent staffs and teachers instead of relying on auxiliary services of untrained corp members. Infact, within months of scrapping Nysc, over 1million jobs will be created in all sectors of the economy.
Nysc is a major factor in youth unemployment in Nigeria. We will have this conversation when we are ready to arrest the unemployment problem in Nigeria.
"“They picked us from Banex; when they picked us from Banex, they took us to Utako. But the police station was empty; there was no policeman inside, so they told us to pull off. When we pulled off, they started… some of us they used condoms, some of us they didn’t use," a girl said. Another added: "Three of us were all brought out of the van and raped by the policemen because we had no money to give them. We were raped behind the National War College. The other girls were also raped by two others; one of them used a pure water sachet as condom but the other one did not.”
The Nigerian police are renouned sex offenders. No be today. Even Abba Kyari raped the wife of his victims in Lagos.
Something is wrong somewhere. In the South you have people turning out enmass to register. Some of the registration centers are so much populated that they look like music carnivals yet we keep seeing these low figures each week. Someone called me yesterday asking where to register because Opara Square crowd and Enugu East centre was too much. We haven't seen over flowing population in the north coming to register, yet we see x3 of the nunbers down South. Inec should be coming out with explaination, it's not adding up.
The good thing about Obi's candicacy is that we are discussing the value of investments he made for the state he managed, not the amount of loot he made away with.
It's the silly season. These rascals are getting unmasked one after the other. Segalinks, Reno, Mbaka and now Deji. It's obvious they underestimated the unpresidented mass movement towards Peter Obi's candicacy.
Juliana Assange is a hero. He exposed the American War crimes and atrocities to the world. Obama, Hilary Clinton and Bush should be facing war crime charges, not Assange facing trial. Shame on Australian government for not protecting their own.
Terrier99: You guys keep making a mistake marketing Obi as a SE candidate while Tinubu, Osinbajo and Co are marketing themselves as Southern candidates. What if the North see how tense everything is and they agree to vote a Southern candidate, where does that leave Peter Obi who you have marketed as merely a SE candidate? Stop narrowing Obi's acceptability across board, it will backfire.
Nobody has marketed Obi as an Igbo candidate. Obi's organic followership cut across tribal, ethno religious sentiments. Even celebrities who have come out openly to endorse Obi aren't Anambrarians or Igbos. You need to keep up with current trends.
