A neighbour then, who happens to be a pastor was gifted a a Nigerian used BMW, his life changed .. he goes late to church, comes home late. On several occasions the car sleeps on the road...it came to a point people were praying that he should be delivered of the car...
The only truth here is that we aren't matured for BMW. BMW is a machine meant for the rich and advanced country where their service centers are rampart

cheesy cheesy

Two major points I take from this thread.
1. Run away from Nigeria used cars. Too much lies and damages that even experienced mechanics would not detect on inspection
2. Let your usual routes and the roads you normally ply determines the car you buy. I drove my Lexus IS to Sagamu just like week. I just parked the car and moved around the city on Okada. Ogun state is cursed with horrible roads.
3. Finally, peace of mind above everything else and this is what comes with most of japanese cars. Too many trial by errors mechanics full Nigeria cities.

It's your choice: Luxury or peace of mind

Lol just show them that there’s no way to stick the plates there.
Your number plate comes with a little sticker carrying the number plate. Stick that to the windshield Of your car. Show them that anytime they ask you for your front plates

I did actually. As against what I did with my Honda and the other car that I previously used. FRSC guys won't even listen. The front plate is always inside my car.

Police too harass me a lot because of this car. Only to collect 1k when they see that I'm not a G boy. Now I made up my car to sell the car and buy peace of mind

No need for all these hyperventilating when you're obviously contravening the law. Be grateful they only take bribe or small change. If you meet some uptight and upright law enforcement officers, that are ready to follow the law to the later, e no go easy for you, your pocket and time.

Better humbly go hang that number plate.

What's the meaning of all this anger? Do I look like the man staffing your wife?

Such a high level of madness that you are displaying on public forum.

What will I do with FRSC people disturbing me to fix plate number infront of my IS car. With this extremely low bumper, why should I fix plate number infront. Never seen cars where this is done. Each time threatening me with 5k ticket or making away with my 1k or 1.5k from me each time. How do you guys deal with these fools?

If you have someone in Lagos, ask them to help you price it from someone that knows in and out of Ladipo. And Please let the technician give you warranty on the compressor. Tell him as you are paying this amount, you must not experience anything heat in your car for the next few years....

Because you see some of this ac technician, they are very quick to tell you to change compressor and they will be nice as heaven during the process, make slight complain after that, if the new compressor is not working efficiently or a yet to be identified issue is causing heat again, you will be shocked at the way the AC technician will treat you.....

If he can't give you warranty, better to close eye and order for Automatic compressor from Ebay... Lexus does not even deserve a manual compressor. It's a smooth ride, not meant to be making noise or jerking. Manual compressor can cause those....

You can search for this conversation below

Thanks man! Will raise this with man. The ebay thing will be a long one before it get here and I need car to travel.

Hope the Technician told you they will be removing the Automatic compressor in exchange for a manual compressor... Am sure that 68,000 Naira is for a manual compressor

Manual, according to the technician. But is it that expensive? I really don't know. Money isn't easy to come by these days.

Do you have any idea about price of steering power for this Lexus?

Guys pls help me with information about prices of Lexus IS 250 steering power and AC compressor. I do not know yet the price of the steering power but an AC repairer told a tokunbo of AC compressor would cost me N68000. The AC seems to be working. Not super chilling though especially during hot afternoon and there is this this thick black liquid coming from inside the compressor. They told me the compressor is "grounded" whatever that means.

I'm told that I need to flush out this thick black liquid and that the compressor (N68000), condenser (N25000), plus flushing plus gas plus workmanship would cost me N120000. Is somebody about to rip me into pieces with these quotation? Pls help me oooo.

Note that the steering pump is located just the headlamp on the passenger side. Not located inside the steering itself and it uses both oil and electric

Do you stay in Lagos? Ladipo is the best place for you...I will confirm with someone their how much it will take to do that . WHATSAP me the picture of the car ...08062593234

I'm in Lagos. I wanted to have an idea of cost so I know exactly what I'm dealing with. Someone mentioned it's going to cost me 90k for reverse mirror including workmanship. The car is Honda Accord 09. He mentioned the mirror type for the car is android ( whatever that means). And I thought about Ladipo people fixing nonsense in the car grin

Can anyone refer me to someone who knows how to fix reverse camera in a car that doesn't come with one? How much should I budget for this?

How much does it cost to do car change of ownership? With and without plate number

Good price for vehicle.

Yea. I think I'm kind of lucky. The car is neat, AC chilling. I will fix in reverse cameras (one engineer I met at Ladipo market said 90k.). How can reverse camera be this expensive?

I will change the seat to to leather as I don't like the color of the seat. That's going to cost me 80k. The body color is still fine and there are no scratches. The seller is a good car maintainer, something that's very rare in Lagos.

Tokunbo aka foreign used of 2010 Honda accord goes for 2.7million to 3.4million depending on if is accident or non accident ...you can visit popular car dealers to price ....there is no harm in pricing ...The problem must people have is comparing price of car in the past with what it is currently ...

For instance I use to buy nigerian 2004 corolla for 1.2million before , now is by Gods grace you will see one for 1.4m ...The point I am making is that cars are more expensive now ...you either buy now or you wait untill when miracle will happen and price will go down ...until then , face reality

You are right about this. Cars are now expensive especially Toks. I was adamant on getting 2010 models of any of those cars but I found them way expensive. 3million and above.

I found a neatly Nigeria used Accord 09 for 1.8m last week. The car was used by GTB bank branch manager, first body, accident free, 90000 plus mileage and it's 12 years old from United State. I searched out it's history using the chassis number and VIN. I don't like the color of the seats and this is what I am going to change. I'm also adding reverse camera to the car.

I plan using this for 6months, resell and get Lexus ES 350 early next year.

Go and buy Nigerian used ...your budget cannot get you the tokunbo of those cars ....before it might but not now ....what is worth doing is what doing well. Don't be kobo wise and naira foolish ....save enough to buy your self a good car that you won't regret .

Lol... Thanks. Hearing the bolded for the first time. I understand you well. I'm not ruling out Nigeria used. I'm just weary about them and sellers hiding problems that might take me weeks to see.

Guys, I'm getting my first ever car this month.

I drive in Lagos for about a year now, mostly my boss's car.

My budget is 2.5m for foreign used. Avalon/Honda Accord 2010 hopefully with reversed mirror. Not sure Honda Accord 2010 has reverse mirror. Anyone willing to sell? Will arrange for inspection in the course of the week.

Do you think I can get something like these with this budge? Honestly I can't afford more than this at this time as I have other projects going on. I need this car for easy movement between Lagos and Shagamu.

And all these people asking you to combine medical studies with IT when you are not yet a professional in either field, will kill you before your time. They don't know what they are saying. Changing course within the larger IT isn't that easy if you are beginner.

Choose a career, build expertise, gain experience, earn money from your sweat before thinking of switching to another. Focus is key.

But what exactly is driving you? Is it money?

I don't know. I never went to any IT school. Google is my school. But there are beautiful online platforms for structured learning. Coursera is good for data science and machine learning. Udacity too and udemy is a general purpose platform.

Hello nairalanders, I'm working currently as a laboratory technician, but my parents wants me to further more for medical laboratory science course in university.

Seeing the way technology is moving, I've decided to go into IT, which is the reason i want to use the money I'm supposed to use to study MLS to go into programming, instead of using 5yrs studying MLS, that's even if ASUU did not extend it to 6 or 7years, i want to dedicate this 5-6yrs of my life into programming( web development and other parts of programming maybe application software development also).

I've also decided to go to teach myself first online, and later go to IT school for certificate and meeting with other IT gurus sake so as to gain from them.

So is programming worth sacrificing this career for? Please advise.

Best decision! I tell you in less than 3 years with full dedication and focus, you will be earning forex. That is my story.

My advice, focus on your preferred stack and learn rigorously for 6 months without destraction using online resources, like Udemy, Coursera, Udacity etc. After gaining some confidence with one or two personal projects on GitHub, start applying for entry level jobs. Build a network of tech friends. This is really important. I have friends who earns $6k monthly working with Andela, in this Lagos. I'm one of them and I'm not the best. I'm still learning and are tons of things to learn. I'm a Site Reliability Engineer.

If your focus is software development as either backend or frontend, just focus on a language for the next 6 months and learn how to use cloud hosted virtual machine to deploy your app.

"I don't care" President Buhari has finally brought Nigeria down on her knees. The selfish and irresponsible governors of South west and south east who could have stood up for restructuring of Nigeria only think about second time and how to get to senate after second time. The country is finished, completely destroyed by politicians in just 22 years of democracy.
