Young consultants who love Linux
Vacancy: x20 positions available to work

We need a horde of young consultants who love Linux and are willing to travel Africa to fight and conquer "Barbarian Bugs". Young people who believe that the future of African tech will be decided by Africans doing stuff for Africa.

If you know any trustworthy young person who has no qualms about being away from home at least 6 months at a time. Who wants to experience Kenyan Ugali today then eat Ghanaian Jollof tomorrow.

Any young person who hates Windows or OSX and lives in UNIX. Single (unmarried) only.
The type of young young person will get a brand new Windows machine and replace the OS with Ubuntu because they are geeks.

I need them all. Send all you can to me at - victor@swifta.com
Startups can wait, gain real experience first.

THIS IS AFRICA!!!

Hi fellow Nlanders

I was born into Catholic faith and practice till I was 12 and I enjoyed it. My parent became deeper life member while we were living apart and now a pastor in that church. I re-united with them when I was 12 and since then I've been attending the church with them and still attend Catholic occasionally....I love the preaching from the founder of deeper life as he preaches the bitter truth but I believe most other young pastor see d church "doctrine" as commandment and so must be kept 100%.....the founder of the church addressed this issue several times but NO.

18 years on since we re-united, I'm a graduate, married and living abroad but my father still forcing his believe and doctrine on me. I considered myself spiritual but not so religious. I connect with my God easily but not a 3G church guy.

He made me and my siblings antisocial and introverted simply because he believed we shouldn't be involved in any social activities even sports. I still remember being beaten for playing soccer, he believes we would be influenced badly. Watching TV was a crime especially movies.

Fast forward to yesterday he rang my wife to check on us but the first question he asked was if we attend to church. I told him it's been raining and temperature was really low....then he started lamenting asking if I won't go to work if it wasn't Sunday, complaining about the country where I can't worship God...then to get me more exasperated he asked and insisted I tell him how many time I've been to church lately and how many times I've read d bible....I told him we've been attending but he insisted on a number.

This got me so mad that I stood up for myself under a heavy breathe as I do not want to disrespect him or hangup on him.I told him I do not appreciate being asked questions like a 10 yrs old boy and at my age I should know how to live my life and what's best for me.....he got angry and said goodbye and I guess he was still on d phone but I didn't know...I just hang up.....Now I've block him from reaching me ... planning to change my numbers.....but not any financial support. Only cutting all communication with him but not with my siblings as they mean more to me and I wanna see them through as much as God help me...

Please is this not an over reaction because I loved him as he's a very responsible man who puts the family first and strived to make us who we are. But we do not av a close relationship because of his believe even though he's been forcing it.

I just wished I had a father like yours!

Religion / Re: Is Eternity In Hellfire A Fair Punishment For Sin? by Barywhyte(m): 11:58am On Sep 03, 2017
gdguy:
Hell is originally designed for Devil and his angels (called demons) who rebelled against God. Hell is a punishment for sins. Because of the severity of the punishment of Hell, and the great love that God has for mankind, that is why he suffered the pain of sending his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to reconcile man to himself and save all mankind from the punishment of Hell. All we only need to do is believe that Jesus has paid for our sins and turned away from evils. Through this, our sins will be forgiven and we can now begin to live a new life in Christ. The grace of God that makes it difficult to go back to sin will be released upon us and we can continue to enjoy fellowship with Christ till death or His Second Coming, whichever comes first. God knows the horror of Hell; that is why when Jesus, at His hour of death, sought God to change His plan for Him( Jesus) to face the death of the cross; God turned down His request. Yes, God is merciful but His love is above his mercy. If God could bear the pain of His only Son suffer the agony of crucifixion; then my brothers, He could as well bear the pain of agony of sinners in Hell who refused to repent and be converted while on the earth, despite several chances to do so.

absolutely! God bless u bro
Religion / Re: Who Created God? - An Invalid Question by Barywhyte(m): 10:20am On Sep 03, 2017

A timeless/eternal Being has no beginning and no end.

Timelessness excuses a being from being created.

Something that has been existing since forever has no beginning

No beginning

No beginning

No beginning

No beginning

No beginning

If something has no beginning, it simply means it was not created.

That you ask who created God means you propose that God has a beginning. Eternity has no beginning. You can see the definition of eternal which I posted above.

It's difficult to grasp because we have never seen anything like this. Our thoughts are within the confines of time and space no matter how hard we try. It's always okay to try though.

Beautiful bro! God is timeless. Even the first man Adam had no concept of time until he was driven out of the garden of Eden

OP do you believe the account of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah in Gen 19 and total extermination of the First World through flood in Gen 7? Was it that every inhabitants of those days were so terribly bad that only 8 people survived the flood? If you believe these events which were brought upon humans by the Creator himself, why is hard for you to believe that he will do the same same thing and even beyond?

God is merciful so says the Bible. The same bible also calls him a consuming fire. God is still stretching forth his hands of salvation for humanity and we keep rejecting him every second but the Bible says as many that were able to accept him as their personal lord and saviour, to them he give power to become the children of God and they have crossed from death to life.

As for weather hell is eternal or not, I believe that there is going to be one eternity at the end of age. Because there is only one eternity and that is God. Hell may rage on for thousands or millions of years but it won't be for all eternity

Peace

One type of argument I won't get myself involved in is this issue of whether god exist or not. It's fruitless, baseless and ungodly too. If you say there is no such personality as God, the Bible says you are fool. That settles it! I strongly believe that. Why going into arguments with a fool? Before you know it, he turns you into a fool.

1. I put myself up to this and I believe I am morally required to take a stand. What is the difference between the word restructuring and my call for fairness and justice where all Nigerians are required to become more responsible and accountable?

2. If it gives you the satisfaction you seek to tag me as you wish, you are at liberty to do so.

However you do not have the rights to tag my country Nigeria a zoo if you don't have any reasonable solution to the issues than unfounded allegations as to why I am doing this. NIGERIA IS WORTH MY WHILE THAT IS WHY I AM DOING THIS.

NIGERIA is not the problem, the people are the problem which includes you and I.

Respect the choice of other Nigerians. If people call for dissolution of Nigeria (which I dnt like), respect their opinions. If they call for restructuring ( which I strongly support), learn to respect that too.

Buying patriotism with 100k is most unpatriotic and evil.

From your post, you are just a politician who just want the status quo to continue or else you simply wouldn't have colorized your appeal with bribery.

We all have a role to play as Nigerians. It is still the only country we all know as our country.
We need to embrace positive vibes that will resonate with our inner energy to walk the path of patriotism.

We are asking Nigerians to rethink what this country really means to you beyond the limited sense of leadership from those entrusted with political, religious, traditional and regional powers.

Nigeria deserves our effort.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

U are a politician or a crony of one who has benefited immensely from irredeemably corrupt status quo. The current agitations for restructuring obviously threatens you and your fithy source of money and the continuous bastardization of our common wealth.

You are the most unpatriotic Nigerian ever. You are going to bribe people with 100k to continue to support corruption and evil.

Your dead on arrival!

@barywhite, thanks so much for the inspiration. I pray that your efforts in life will be crowned with God's grace.

Have actually done some research work and decided to start with Comptia A+, proceed to Comptia N+ and subsequently CCNA. I wish to be major in System/Network Administrator/Technician and Hardware maintenance/repairs.....I hope I am on the right track.

Exactly! That's the way to go. Sysadmin! I suggest you start with comptia+linux . There is track for that. I thought it 2 years ago in Ibadan. Sorry that I'm biased towards Linux! The 90% world IT infrastructure sit comfortably on Linux kernel. Microsoft is only good for user friendly stuff ( whatever that means). Let your learning platform for sysadmin be Linux not windows. It's a suggestion o.

Op good move! I took same decision in 2014 after I lost my job as Gas Station manager. But then I knew precisely what I wanted to do. I knew about Linux before then. So I dua-boot my laptop with Ubuntu and I started learning Linux leveraging on free course on www.edx.org . Although along the line I had to take up a teaching just as a matter of survival but I never let go of my desire to continue to learn Linux. Even though I'm yet to get a first job as Linux system administrator , I'm very proficient in both redhat as well as Ubuntu (there are fundamental differences between these two Linux distro.) . And I have a couple of droplets set up with EC2 AWS and digitalocean (these are cloud servers). In addition I also learned Ansible automation tool which allow sysadmins to manage several servers with minimal effort.
I'm very happy with my progress so far and I'm absolutely confident of brighter future in the IT world. It's the future of the world and so many things are changing dramatically.
It depends on your interest and future plan. This field is very vast but honestly I will suggest you take a look at open source technology.
One area I wouldn't advise you to consider is programming. I have my reason.

Good luck Op.
