Fashion › Re: Why Is There A Senseless Fear And Dislike For Guys With Dreadlocks In Nigeria? by Barzinime(m): 5:10pm On Nov 01, 2019
My point is that dreads is not part of our way of life and that is why people castigate it.
Like they say "when you are in rome behave like the romans''

midnighter:
He is not saying he will not live with it, he is asking why there is a negative attitude towards it in our society

It's easy to tell somebody to go ahead and "live with it" without minding what people will say, what of all the scorn, embarrassment, harassment and lost opportunities that will come of that decision?

My own is that it's not an unreasonable question to ask if it's what's bothering him
Fashion › Re: Why Is There A Senseless Fear And Dislike For Guys With Dreadlocks In Nigeria? by Barzinime(m): 4:40pm On Nov 01, 2019
My bad that i didnt get to notice it was in the "fashion section"
From your illustration, the OP shoudn't be concerned the way people perceive someone on dreadlocks.
I am just saying "'do want you want to do and live with it"

midnighter:
You can't just reduce all issues to "what has that got to do with the country progressing".

This is a relevant issue to the poster and he opened it in the "fashion section". If someone opens up a debate about a social topic, is that not dialogue and therefore progress?

Must we talk about kainji dam every day?
Fashion › Re: Why Is There A Senseless Fear And Dislike For Guys With Dreadlocks In Nigeria? by Barzinime(m): 2:50pm On Nov 01, 2019
No.1 Can you marry someone going to a white garment church with dreads?
No.2 Is dreadlocks a Nigerian thing?
No.3 If your teenage child decide to be on dreads will you allow him/her?

Not saying dreads is a bad thing tho but people with dreads are associated with so many bad things in Nigeria
1. Chronic Weed Smokers
2. Internet Fraudster especially the ones with tattoos
3. White garment church member(which some people have phobia for)
4. A Lunatic
5. People that are not responsible cos its going to be hard getting a white collar job on dreads.

The problem with Nigerians is that we dont copy positive things from the western world only thing that is of no value or meaningful importance, if majority of Nigerians have phobia or dislike for people with dreads what has that got to do with the country progressing?
The reason i love Asian is that they dont allow the western way of life interfere with their culture and beliefs, its only here in Africa we allow bullshit.

africandictator:
Hello Nairalanders, I have been searching for reasons why most Nigerians have a phobia and dislike for boys and men with dreadlocks and I can’t find any credible reason.

Their reasons are senseless and baseless, most Nigerians tend to vilify boys and men with dreadlocks because for some people, dreads hairstyle doers can be very terrifying and they are adjudged to be criminals which is not always true.

In this part, I think it is a crime for a man to pursue happiness.. Nigerians have failed to take into consideration the dynamism in fashion because I wondered why the dread hairstyles where not present in the days of our fathers but the Afro hairstyle was appreciated and considered responsible during that era.

Our ethical compass as a nation have been destroyed because in recent times we have seen people under the guise of sheep and heavenly clothing commit grievous crimes.

Nigerian Parents who have lost their youths should allow the current youth to live theirs. fashion is dynamic and dreads are natural and beautiful... In fact dreads are africanlike, because they defined our appearance and blackness during ancient times as they added to our aesthetic value.

Nairalanders! let us begin to accept people with dreadlocks and see them as civil and normal citizens.. stop the stereotyping..

Politics › Re: Ghana Trade Union Vote To Ban Made-in-nigeria Products Following Border Closure by Barzinime(m): 9:21am On Oct 20, 2019
Be deceiving yourself, you should be comparing Ghana to Lagos not Nigeria.

psychologygh:
****

When Ghana locked just 400 Nigerian shops in a town in Kumasi alone, your government and trade unions were organizing protest at the ECOWAS office crying xenophobia and free trade buh you're here shouting Giant of Africa because you have unilaterally closed your borders to starve yourselves to death. GUTA had always hated you since Kwame Nkrumah and you have foolishly gave them a chance to eliminate you from Ghana. For your information millions of Nigerians live in Ghana and do trade of imports and exports. GUTA was the one who locked all your shops in Kumasi. Now tell me,Ghana exports goods worth just 80 million dollars to Nigeria for a country who exports 17 billion dollars worth of goods outside, less than 0.5% goes to Nigeria buh Nigeria exports goods worth 303 million dollars to Ghana in a year.If Ghana bans your goods, tell me who loses more. The minister is just a diplomat who knows how ugly it will be if Ghana retaliates so she's going diplomatic first to tell you to comply ECOWAS protocols .Warning to your country if you refuse her diplomatic settlement. Ghana never needs Nigeria.

Your Omega Beam is so on point grin
Darkseid:
For the many years that I've been using online media, I've noticed that most ladies are not interested in intelligent conversations; speaking from my own experience. Most prefer small talks and naughty conversations, and I'm usually not interested in that so I do end things pretty fast.
Asking most females intelligent questions makes them bored and they usually don't have anything to ask in return so the conversation tends to be like an interview.
You see, a conversation is meant to be a two way thing, if I ask how your day went, you reply with details and then ask me about mine, then from the details we both gave, more topics would spring out, but if I ask how your day went and you tell me "fine", it puts a stop to everything.
I don't use Facebook, Twitter etc and I only manage to open my whatsapp few times a day and one thing I do now to both guys and ladies is if I ask you a question, you reply with one closed ended word, I won't send another message ever.
PS - that's just me and my experiences, not generalising cool cool
