Goal.com's Premier League Team of the Season so far

Tim Krul
Newcastle United

Tim Krul has been one of the surprise packages of the season and a key reason for Newcastle’s impressive start to the campaign. The Dutch goalkeeper came into the year not even knowing whether he would be his club’s No.1 but has gone on to be the Premier League’s best performer between the sticks and be labelled in some quarters as the next Edwin van der Sar.

For the shot stopper, who represents a reliable last line of defence with tremendous reflexes and authority despite his young age, a ticket to Euro 2012 now almost certainly awaits. An ever-present in the league, Krul started the season on fire like the rest of his team-mates, but while the club’s fortunes have taken a turn for the worse, he has stayed strong, as shown in the recent loss to Chelsea, where he starred despite a heavy home defeat.

DEFENDERS

Micah Richards
Manchester City

Ledley King
Tottenham

Thomas Vermaelen
Arsenal

Jose Enrique
Liverpool

In a team of big-money superstars at Manchester City, Micah Richards - a player who has come through the ranks - is still making his presence felt. The 23-year-old has missed just two games in his side’s charge to the top of the table and is arguably having his best ever season after an inconsistent couple of years. Combining his physical strength in defence with rampages down the right to support the side in an attacking sense, it appears Richards is finally starting to fulfil his potential. It must only be a matter of time until he returns to the England squad.

Amazingly, Tottenham have only been behind in 15 minutes of football this season in the 800 plus that Ledley King has been on the pitch. Such a statistic cannot be a coincidence and if you look at Spurs’ three defeats this season – the two heavy early losses to the Manchester clubs and the recent loss to Stoke – one man is notable in his absence. King’s classy presence in central defence has helped Tottenham to rise up the table and he is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in world football when fully fit.

While a certain Dutch forward is making all the headlines for his exploits in an Arsenal shirt, Thomas Vermaelen has been just as instrumental in the Gunners turning their season around. The Belgium stopper missed almost the whole of last season but has come back as good as ever, commanding but calm, aggressive but controlled and on top of his game once again.

Kenny Dalglish has picked Jose Enrique in every league game so far this season and that is unsurprising. One of the bargain buys of the season following his £5 million move from Newcastle in the summer, Enrique has been consistently impressive – solid in defence and deceptively quick. The Spaniard must be pushing hard for an international call-up in an area of the pitch where the world champions are not at their strongest.

HOLDING MIDFIELDERS

Scott Parker
Tottenham

Lucas
Liverpool

If Enrique has been a bargain purchase, the same has to be said about Scott Parker, who plays as one of the more defensive-minded midfielders in our 4-2-3-1 formation. The West Ham icon arrived on August 31 for a similarly low fee and has produced some outstanding performances as Tottenham have charged up the table, acting as the perfect foil to the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart. At the age of 31, Parker finally seems to have established himself as an England regular and looks set to play a key role at Euro 2012.

One of the most improved players in the Premier League has to be Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva. Having been seen as a figure of fun by many on his arrival in England, the Brazilian has been gradually improving and this year emerged as a key man for the Reds, providing some bite, energy and real quality in the middle of the park. A season ending injury – which means he will likely miss out on any end-of-season recognition - was a huge blow to the player and club, who will hope he can return even stronger than before.

ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS

Sergio Aguero
Manchester City

Wayne Rooney
Manchester United

David Silva
Manchester City

There was significant excitement amongst Premier League fans when Sergio Aguero arrived at Manchester City from Atletico Madrid and ever since his sparkling debut from the substitutes’ bench on the opening matchday of the season against Swansea, the Argentine has lived up to the hype. Aguero already has 13 league goals to his name, which included a hat-trick against Wigan, and is acting as a creative force for the likes of Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko as well as finding the net himself for the table-toppers.

While there have been times this season where Wayne Rooney has not been at his vintage best, the Manchester United star still has 13 Premier League goals in just 16 games. The England man started the campaign on fire, netting a hat-trick in the astonishing 8-2 win against Arsenal before getting another treble against Bolton. In recent games against Wolves, QPR and Fulham, Rooney has returned to that early-season goalscoring form and defenders from opposing sides over the festive fixtures will not be relishing their tasks.

Arguably the player of the season so far, David Silva has shown immense quality throughout the campaign. As well as a starring role in Manchester City’s 6-1 humiliation of rivals United at Old Trafford, the Spaniard has hardly ever turned in an ineffectual performance. While he has scored priceless goals, such as popping up with the winner against Arsenal last weekend, it is the playmaking ability of Silva which is wowing fans across the country, with his dribbling and passing of a quality better than anyone else in the division can currently offer.

STRIKER

Robin van Persie
Arsenal

Arsenal captain Robin van Persie had been on fire in the first half of 2011 and he has continued in that rich vein of form so far this season. A lethal finisher, the striker already had 16 goals in 17 appearances and tops the Premier League’s scoring charts. On occasions, his influential performances have single-handedly dragged Arsenal through their troubled times into a position where they now look like a good bet to remain in the top four. A hat-trick in the 5-3 win over rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge has been one of many highlights. If he can stay fully fit until the end of the campaign, both he and the Gunners could be celebrating accolades this summer.

Don't disrespect Thiery! Too many achievements in England before he bounced!!

At barca, . He scored his first goal, rounded it off with his first hat-trick ten days later.

Even though he was deployed to the wings, , he still concluded his debut season as the club's top
scorer with 19 goals in addition to nine league assists.

Music/Radio10 Songs Where Rappers Got Murder On Their Own Trackx by baslone(op): 11:49am On Dec 20, 2011
Whenever one rapper reaches out to ask another to guest on their song, they risk getting stuck in
a Catch-22. There's usually genuine respect there—unless the feature was mandated by the label.

But either way, you don't want your guest turning in a lackluster performance since that wackness
reflects badly on you. Then again, you don't want anybody jacking your spotlight either.

10. Kanye West f/ Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, & Bon Iver "Monster" (2010)

Murderer: Nicki Minaj

Nicki has had a ton of great guest verses, but this one was the meanest yet. Going toe-to-toe
with some of the best in the game, she turned heads swiftly after unleashing this ferocious split-personality
flow.

No pretty Barbie smile or Taylor Swift co-signs required on this one.

9. Dr. Dre f/ Snoop Doggy Dogg “Deep Cover” (1992)

Murderer: Snoop Doggy Dogg

Although Dre shares writing credits on this song, we all know who probably did the lion's share of the
lyrical contribution. Snoop's introduction to the world came via this detailed narrative of a drug deal gone
bad.

Somehow, he still managed to body Dre even though he penned it. Now that's impressive. And this
of course led to the inseparable bond yielded one of the most important hip-hop albums of all-time, The Chronic.

8. The Game f/ 50 Cent "Hate It Or Love It" (2005)

Murderer: 50 Cent

50 was on fire in the mid '00s and he made himself right at home on "Hate It Or Love It"— basically making
it sound like a 50 Cent song with a Game verse on it. Game shouldn't complain: This song was one of the main
reasons his debut album was so successful.

However, it's actually 50 was was left short-changed by this record.
Curtis let Game have a song that we hear could have easily been on The Massacre which only helped booster
the idea that Game's debut was better than 50's sophomore set.

7. Raekwon f/ Nas & Ghostface Killah “Verbal Intercourse” (1995)

Murderer: Nas

Being the first ever non-Wu member ever featured on a Wu track, on arguably the strongest debut
solo effort from a Wu-Tang member is a pretty dubious honor. And Nas exploited that to the fullest.
RZA's mellifluous track compliments Nas' flow like a pinky ring to a silk shirt.

And they had the nerve to let him go first? Crazy. Props is a true thug's wife indeed.

6. Jay-Z f/ Kanye West & Rihanna “Run This Town” (2009)

Murderer: Kanye West

If there's any misconception about how superb Kanye's verse is on "Run This Town," just check
the video. You can see Jay-Z mouthing the lyrics right along with 'Ye, almost as if he wished the
awesome 32-bar verse was his.

Yeezy didn't just rattle off one of the best raps of his career, he also defeated his teacher. When
XXL asked Jay-Z about being outrapped by 'Ye he conceded the point: "As long as I've been in the\
game, that's going to happen, once or twice or even three times."

In other words, "Yeah Ye got me, but I've won so many times—who's counting

5. Kanye West f/ Jay-Z "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" (Remix) (2005)

Murderer: Jay-Z

One of the first peeks we got at The Throne in action was on this remix of Kanye's "Diamonds
from Sierra Leone." At the time, there were many questions surrounding Jigga following the nasty
breakup of Roc-A-Fella Records and his retirement from rap to become the President of Def Jam.
But all questions were answered by Jay's blazing verse.

Even Yeezy had to admit defeat as he would later rhyme on "Big Brother", "On that 'Diamonds Remix'
I swore I'd spaz/Then my big brother came through and kicked my ass."

4. LL Cool J f/ Canibus, Method Man, Redman, & DMX "4, 3, 2, 1 (Original)" (1997)

Murderer: Canibus

The story behind this song has become hip-hop folklore. Young Canibus gets the chance to rhyme
alongside one of his idols, LL Cool J. Bus writes a rhyme with a line asking to "borrow" the mic from
LL's arm (referring to the immense tattoo of a microphone and a crown on his right bicep).

LL takes offense to his ostentatious request, writes a diss verse in response, but then asks Canibus
to re-write his verse. The rookie obliges but then LL then releases the song with his verse still dissing Canibus.

As Bus's original verse circulates on New York mixtapes, and an infamous phone call goes down, a beef
brews and Canibus ends up making "Second Round K.O." You know the rest. But for the record, Canibus'
original verse was 100 times iller. Even LL knew that.

3. Craig Mack f/ The Notorious B.I.G., Rampage, LL Cool J & Busta Rhymes "Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)" (1994)

Murderer: The Notorious B.I.G.

This one is a no-brainer. Although it wasn't the most difficult task to outrap Craig Mack, B.I.G.'s verse from
the "Flava In Ya Ear" remix remains one of his most memorable of all-time. And he didn't just murder Mack
on this single, he basically deaded dude's career.

Prior to this release Bad Boy seemed ready to put its weight behind Mack, but afterward it was all Big Poppa
all the time. But don't be mad—Biggie contributed enough fire to make this an undeniably classic posse cut, and
helped recruit some new talent for UPS in the process.

2. Jay-Z f/ Eminem "Renegade" (2001)

Murderer: Eminem

On "Ether"—one of the most vicious diss songs of all time—Nas took plenty shots at Jay-Z's sexuality
and street credibility, but the line that burned extra slow was, "Eminem murdered you on your own
shit."

So props to Nas for coining the term that inspired this list. And by the way, there's no denying that Nas was right.

Most of Jay-Z's album The Blueprint was built on soul but for some reason he opted to rhyme over one
of Eminem's trademark haunted house tracks alongside Marshall himself. Maybe Jigga wanted to prove
that he was the Best Rapper Alive by rocking with The Next Best Rapper In Line?

Either way, Jay held his own but Marshall spazzed, spitting one of the best verses of his career and owned
Hov on Hov's best album.

1. Main Source f/ Nas, Joe Fatal & Akinyele "Live at the BBQ" (1991)

Murderer: Nas

Large Pro might as well be charged as an accomplice to this murder. Back in '91, he had a secret weapon
and he fired it off lovely on "Live at the BBQ." That weapon was a brash yet gifted youngster from the Queensbridge
Projects named Nasir Jones.

The verse established "Nasty Nas" as the second coming of Rakim, paving the way for his legendary debut, Illmatic.

van persie is delaying his contract talks because he does not trust the club. look at toure, nasri, hleb, reyes, adebayor, flamini and a long list of arsenal players who left at the top of their games but end up as bench warmers in other teams because of competition.
in arsenal, those who make first team list will be on the bench when they face competition.
let van persie move on to other top side and fight for a first team place and u will understand why arsenal is a feeder team.
if players like lampard, torres and malouda find themselves in arsenal, they will play first team football without training.

When the roof came down on the economy, hospitals became death camps, schools churned outs whores and semi-literate rogues, government ceased to exist in the mind of the people as communities took up the responsibilities of road constructions, security, electrification, water and all other essentials that were the primary responsibilities of government, our helpless people turned to marabouts in godly robes for their daily survival. Who will blame the poor for seeking help anywhere they believe it could be found? Do we not say that the illusion of a drowning man magnifies even the weighth of a straw? survival they say is the first law of nature, so when the quack nurses are busily killing pregnant mothers in their ill-equiped hospitals, the prayer chambers of certifiable criminals masked as pastors and GOs became the antenatal homes of millions of expectant mothers. Looking at Nigeria, Carl Marx must be horrified in his grave, even the American originators of this money-christianity, must be marvelling at the incredible heights it has attained in Nigeria.
