I’ll Take EFCC To Next Level — Lamorde Tue, 29/11/2011 - 1:00am | CHUKA ODITTAH The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, has promised to move the EFCC to a new level of accomplishments, even as he tasked staff of the commission to be ready to embrace professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct guiding the commission. Lamorde stated this yesterday at the official handing over of headship of the commission to him by former chairman of the commission Mrs. Farida Waziri. The new EFCC boss spoke of an impending overhaul in the commission’s mode of operation. He added that, with the baton now handed over to him by President Goodluck Jonathan, a new phase in the life of the commission had begun. “ As this handing over ends, we enter a new phase in the life of the commission. I’ll leverage the abundant skills and experience in the commission and the immense goodwill of Nigerians to move the EFCC to a new level. The challenges that stare us in the face are enormous and I want to solicit the support of everyone in the discharge of the onerous task thrust on my shoulders by Mr. President. “I’ll be making more demand of every staff of EFCC, far more demand of professionalism, integrity and ethical conduct than had ever been made of each and every one of us. I will not accept any excuse whatsoever for failure,” he said. In her remark, erstwhile chairman of the commission, Farida Waziri, thanked President Goodluck Jonathan and all Nigerians for the opportunity to serve as EFCC boss. She maintained that the commission had made remarkable progress in the last three years that she was chairman of the commission. According to her, the gains made by the EFFC under her stewardship are visible for all to see. She said the agency during her tenure secured conviction of 450 offenders, recovered over $9 billion USD, and charged 75 high-profile cases to courts. Among them were ex-governors, ministers, heads of agencies and others. Farida also listed her achievements to include closure of over 5,000 fraudulent email addresses with the conviction of over 80 suspects. Others are: review of staff salary and payment of hazard allowances, aimed at insulating staff from external pressures and temptations, setting up of monitoring and intelligence units for gathering information to facilitate investigations, commenced work on the permanent office complex of the EFCC, transformation of the Training and Research Institute (TRI), and reactivation of MOU with Microsoft, yahoo, google, Coca-Cola and others to boost the fight against internet fraud. The commission also initiated legislative intervention such as Assets Forfeiture, Special Courts, Amendment of Money Laundering Acts and the Anti-terrorism Act. Farida, who said she would proceed on vacation to care for herself, later expressed the hope that corruption would ultimately be stamped out of the country, given the pedigree of her successor who, she noted was well grounded in the operations of the EFCC. http://leadership.ng/nga/articles/9196/2011/11/29/i%E2%80%99ll_take_efcc_next_level_%E2%80%94_lamorde.html |
koruji:Mugu, see your Aregbesola (Mr Tawai! Tawai!!) giving out "free" land at Shasha farm settlement. Aregbesola: A unique agenda for Osun’s agricultural revolutionhttp://dailyindependentnigeria.com/2011/11/10/aregbesola-a-unique-agenda-for-osun%E2%80%99s-agricultural-revolution/ Now, they are beating up the farmers. 419! |
koruji:You must be very dense! Reacting, official of the state Ministry of Environment, Mr Joseph Ashaolu, said government reserves did not allow any form of farming activities, saying that the action of the farmers was illegal.Even in your loose dictionary, there must be a vast difference between "farm settlement" and "forest reserve." When did the farm settlements become forest reserves that farmers are being beaten out off? In whose corrupt interest is it to convert farm settlements into forest reserves overnight? Dunce. |
The farmers are now complaining, cos Osun state govt sent people to beat them up. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-813360.0.html Free land ke? High 419! |
Another set of people slapped by Aregbesola. He gave them "free" farmlands in forest reserves?!! 419. The whole thing was done for show in Aregbe's familiar high story act. Now that he thinks people have forgotten, its time to beat 7 devils out of those poor peasant farmers and drive them off the land. Gbawe! Gbawe!! Farmers besiege Osun Assembly •Over alleged inhuman treatment Written by Adewale Ajayi, Osogbo Tuesday, 29 November 2011 ABOUT 1,000 farmers from Shasha farm settlement in Osun State, on Monday, stormed the state House of Assembly to protest alleged inhuman treatment meted out to them by the timber contractors, who, they claimed, were acting on the instruction of the state government. They alleged that the timber contractors chased them out of their farmlands and destroyed their produce, including cash and food crops. Their spokesperson, Chief Mohammed Jimoh, who is the vice chairman of the association, said their means of livelihood had been destroyed, as they now lived a miserable life. “There is problem between us and the timber contractors. They said they are acting on behalf of the state government and that we should all stop all forms of farming activities in the forest reserves. “We don’t want trouble, that is why we take our grievances to the government so that it could intervene. For now, there is no hope of going back to our farmlands until government provides adequate securities that could guarantee the safety of our lives and properties,” he said. Reacting, official of the state Ministry of Environment, Mr Joseph Ashaolu, said government reserves did not allow any form of farming activities, saying that the action of the farmers was illegal. Mr Ashaolu, the Director of Forest Regeneration and Utilisation in the ministry, said the government, over time, had been battling with the issue of illegal farming, adding that it got to the extent that the former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, ordered all farmers in the forest reserves to leave the forest, because they had contravened government’s laws. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/31971-farmers-besiege-osun-assembly-over-alleged-inhuman-treatment |
Gbawe:It is hard to understand how you can say that with a straight face. You quoted one of the despicable creatures in the NASS, someone who is evidently working for the interests of Shell like his mentor, Bankole was. Your ACN had the chance to stand on the side of right with the true progressives in Nigeria and vote for Mulikat Adeola as Speaker of the House of Rep, a move that if successful would have seen the necesarry constitutional changes to better the country flying through. But who did you side with? ACN joined hands with Babangida to foist Bankole's co-conspirator and an enemy of progress, Tambuwal on the country. At the time ACN joined hands with Babangida, did they not realise that their treachery would lead to the country being held back? can you provide a single reason why ACN sided with IBB to position a known thief against GEJ's progressive and highly principled choice of Mulikat Adeola? Now you are here crying fake tears at what your treachery helped to instal and to make matters worse, you are disgracefully quoting an enemy of the country in Senator Enang like it is gospel; rather than rallying that we fight him down. Everyone can see the pattern that is emerging, damage the nations path to progress at night, then blame GEJ in the morning. Anyways, there are few surprises there, you regularly quote from highly unprincipled sources like Sahara Reporters and Osun Defender in a desperate bid to sling mud. We are still awaiting the day you will begin quoting from Ovation magazine. |

Dis Guy:Lukman's input to that bill was as anti-people as it can get and wikileaks firmly backs that up. GEJ is responsible for that bill and made all the valuable inputs in it; policies that affect the petroleum sector are generated in the VP's office as required by the constitution. |
^^^^ beaf you said it all abeg!!!
That was not Beaf, but a fake. I do not jump to sentimental conclusions, especially on threads like this; it is very possible that there are people in the North jubilating at Ojukwu's passing and wishing that both GEJ and Obj will be killed. Afterall, we might be talking about members of the elite who think boko haram is a worthy political tool and parts of the country where more than a thousand were slaughtered, because Buhari lost the ballot. @topic I pity those rushing to bully the OP. It would have been best to attempt to verify the story with questions like where, when and in what setting his claims occurred. But it is quite clear that the small-minded agbero mentality that has kept Nigeria backward is still well and truly alive in todays youth. What a disgrace! ![]() |
cap28:You are bloody dense. The World does not run on any formula, most especially not the wildly daft NWO ones you propagate. America used Taylor to get rid of Doe, but Gaddafi had and Taylor had other ideas; Gaddafi wanted to actualise his megalomaniac "king of kings of Africa" idiocy and be the overall boss on the land, while Taylor wanted daimonds. They both killed Sankara to actualise their evil plans and they both got money and backing from France for the pustch. Taylor wanted an army to be able to spread instability in order to steal daimonds, while Gaddafi needed a lieutenant to be able to link his other World Revolutionary Council graduates to unleash instability and set him up as overlord. Both mens plans dovetailed and they inflicted worse atrocities on West Africa than Hitler did on the Jews. America does evil out of national interest, but Gaddafi did evil out of maniacal personal interest. Evil is evil, don't come selling any fools formula; nobody else barks at the Moon. |
PointB:They supported Tambuwal, Bankole's partner in crime. It really is crocodile tears from vipers. As you can see, Enang that Gbawe is proudly quoting like he is Jesus, is a Bankole lover who is vouching for that thiefs innocence. By their friends, ye shall know them. |
nakedall:What is funny about it? 9 years is the max for the sort of conspiracy he was involved in; but that is not to say that when his other cases come to judgement, he won't finally get either life or death sentences. There is due process and it is being followed. |
^ Sharap dia and face your front. Beaf, Beaf, Beaf! You sound obsessed, sir. Keep on defending that most useless of all creatures called Aregbesola who is refusing to pay workers, yet wants to talk crap on radio and organise foolish 19 bus aluta trips. In any event, the clown doesn't need anything from the FG, he runs a state that disgracefully has no other means of existence outside Abuja stipends, yet he wants to haul insults. Let us know how far stup!dity can carry a grown man. Even the billions he gets from Abuja are squandered in Lagos politics, so the buffoon is perpetually owing Osun state workers and leaving them in terrible misery. Someone is even wishing GEJ will be assassinated because of this fool. You people are very far gone indeed. |
Demdem:It says a lot about shabby leadership when a political party cannot pay its rent. Such a party does not even deserve to exist. |
The dark mark on Konduga's forehead shows he is very devout. It is strange that one can pray 5 times a day and end up blowing the innocent to bits in coldly calculated plots. After ethnic bigotry, religion is Nigeria's biggest problem. @topic The signs look good for the unravelling of boko haram. |
Demdem:Lol! CPC can't even pay its rent and has received a quit notice for its Abuja headquarters; they are getting kicked out in December. A whole political party that wishes to be taken seriously! Those are Buhari's 'sterling leadership' qualities on display for you, a man who is not capable of even gathering stones. Laf go soon broke my waist! ![]() |
Some states cannot even pay their workers any wake, but our lazy governors can only think of Abuja beggars stipends. It never crosses their minds that it is they who must industrialise their states, not Abuja; afterall, Abuja doles out free monthly cash. What do the governors do with? |
Senator laments state govts’ insolvency By Damisi Ojo7 hours 31 minutes ago Prof. Ajayi Boroffice Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice has urged states to exploit other means of generating revenue to augment their monthly allocation from the federal account. Boroffice spoke at the Fourth Memorial Lecture in honour of the first governor of the old Ondo State, the late Michael Adekunle Ajasin. He said it is worrisome that some states are not buoyant enough to execute capital projects and have resorted to borrowing, instead of boosting their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). Boroffice said the lack of focus by some governors is responsible for the poor financial status of their states. He said: “It is sad that many states are insolvent, they rely solely on monthly allocation. Many of them cannot even pay the minimum wage. “Some have sought for bonds to finance their capital projects. Ondo State is inclusive. The state has refused to pay minimum wage to its work force.” Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who was represented by the Commissioner for Urban and Regional Planning, Igbekele Dawodu, described the late Adekunle Ajasin as a man of great honour. The lecture, organised by a non-governmental organisation, Good Governance Monitor, was attended by the late Ajasin’s daughter, Mrs. Jumoke Anifowose. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/27810-senator-laments-state-govts%E2%80%99-insolvency.html |
Suspect linked to UN House bombing By Duku Joel6 hours 53 minutes ago Ali Sauda Umar Konduga •Sect kills four policemen •Churches burnt SECURITY agents have uncovered a new lead linking a detained suspect, Ali Sauda Umar Konduga (a.k.a Usman Al-Zawahiri), to the bombing of the UN House and the Police Headquarters in Abuja. Konduga has named Senator Ali Ndume as one of the sponsors of the Boko Haram sect. Ndume and Konduga have been arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrate’s Court for criminal intimidation. Konduga got a nine-year jail term. Ndume is in the custody of the State Security Services (SSS). Security reports at the Presidency have foreclosed moves to “politicise” Ndume’s arrest, The Nation learnt. A source said the screening of Konduga’s call logs has provided fresh clues on the bombing of the UN House and the Police Headquarters. The August 26 explosion at the UN House killed 23 people; 70 others were injured. The SSS arrested Babagana Ismail Kwaljima (a.k.a Abu Summaya) and Babagana Mali (a.k.a Bulama) over the UN House attack. It declared a Boko Haram leader, Mamman Nur, wanted . But the fresh clues indicate that more suspects were involved in the “plot”. A source, who pleaded not to be named said more suspects are being sought, following the clues. “At the end of the day, the SSS will determine whether Konduga will still stand trial separately for the two incidents. But we have recorded a breakthrough,” the source said, adding: “In fact, prior to the bombings, there were telephone calls between Konduga and some highly–placed people. The facts suggest that Konduga has been a key member of the Boko Haram sect, contrary to insinuations in some quarters.” On Ndume’s fate, the source said: “Instead of reading political meaning into it, those aggrieved should be at the court to go through security reports on him. These will be tendered in court. “There is no basis for political witch-hunt. We have arraigned him in court; he remains a suspect. The onus is on him to prove beyond reasonable doubt before the court that he had no link with Konduga. We cannot pronounce him guilty.” The source said: “We cannot join issues with any party but we have security reports on Ndume. We have his statement on oath and the Presidency was in the picture of our findings. “We won’t stoop so low to release the security reports, but the court is there for all to go and witness the trial, based on our findings and counter-deposition by the Senator.” Ndume’s family, it was learnt, had wanted to take up issues with the SSS on Friday at a news conference, but the session was called off at the instance of the Senator. Another source said: “Nigerians should ask Ndume why he asked his family to shelve the Friday briefing. He must have had some information which they do not have.” http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/27816-suspect-linked-to-un-house-bombing.html |
Its a small refinery, but the first small steps in the right direction for Nigeria. Nice one! |
First Private Refinery Begins Operation in Rivers State 28 Nov 2011 https://serving.thisdaylive.com/0bef99d6-acf5-4e2c-9779-8fa02ba3fcd4/assets/1908N.Diezani-Alison-Maduek.jpg?maxwidth=400&maxheight=540 Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke By Ejiofor Alike A private refinery owned by Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Ltd (NDPR), a subsidiary of Niger Delta Exploration and Production Plc, has begun operation in Rivers State. The firm has also been granted a Licence to Operate (LTO) by the Federal Government. Built at Ahaoda East Local Government Area of Rivers State, the refinery, which was completed in December 2010, has been undergoing test-run; while the operating licence was being awaited. Fabrication work had started in January 2010 by Chemex Incorporated of Texas, California in the United States. The operating licence gives the NDPR full authority to operate its mini-diesel refinery, referred to as “Topping Plant” at the company’s Ogbele Oil Field in old Oil Mining Lease (OML) 54, located in the state. The NDPR’s operating licence, which was signed by the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, was the first of its kind to be granted to an independent, publicly-owned Nigerian company. Confirming this development in an interview with THISDAY at the weekend, the Chief Executive Officer of Niger Delta Exploration and Production Plc, Dr. ‘Layi Adetona, said the refinery, which had an initial capacity of 1,000 barrels of crude per day, now produces 120,000 litres of diesel per day, using crude oil from the company's Ogbele Flowstation. Adetona said with the operating licence, the refinery, which was installed to initially promote self-sufficiency in the company's operations, would now contribute to Nigeria's energy production by selling surplus diesel to independent fuel marketers for local consumption. “Several years ago, we had the problem of cost. We saw a situation where we were spending so much money to buy diesel for our operations and we thought there has to be a process whereby we can cut that cost by building a small refinery. “Now, with the deregulation of the market, it suddenly became attractive that it is not just having capacity to produce what we can consume but a little bit more. The plant that we have happens to satisfy that technical specification. So, we have not just achieved self-dependence, we also have excess capacity to commercialise the additional output that we have,” he said. He stated that it was cheaper to refine petroleum products locally than to import from abroad, adding that the operating licence allows the company to operate the refinery and commercialise its products. “We have 100 per cent full dependence on ourselves to supply diesel for all our operations and we still have excess capacity to sell the balance of what we produce. We produce about 120,000 litres of diesel daily and our daily consumption is less than one quarter of this figure. In effect, we can sell at least, three truck loads of diesel from our plant every day,” he added. Adetona, who also encouraged other Nigerian independent companies and the multinationals to embark on similar projects, said the success of his company’s project was an indication that private refinery could work in Nigeria. He stated that what enhanced the company’s case was that it was already producing its own crude oil from the Ogbele field. He said the production of diesel had complemented the company’s gas processing capacity, as a Gas Processing Plant with a maximum capacity of 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MM scf/d) had been completed, to exploit the proven gas reserves in the Ogbele Field. “The tail gas will be transported to the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Train 6 at Bonny Island through NDPR’s gas pipeline, as part of a pioneering Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) between NDPR and the NLNG Joint Venture. NDPR is also well poised to contribute to the nation’s domestic gas quota while at the same time eliminating gas flaring in its operations,” he said. The Federal Government had granted LTC to 22 private investors in 2002 but later cancelled the licences for non-performance. However, the affected investors had cited non-deregulation of the downstream sector as the reason for their non-performance. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/first-private-refinery-begins-operation-in-rivers-state/103803/ |
^ Sharap about the FG. Does the state lack a governor? By the way Amosun should take a hint from Ameachi about what to do: In a related development, Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State said yesterday that security operatives were on the trail of a notorious female robber and one of her cohorts responsible for killing over 15 policemen.http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68709:-robbers-storm-four-banks-in-ogun-kill-12&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
But his U-turn came to the fore in an address he delivered during an empowerment programme orga-nised by one of the representatives of the party in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honourable Muha-mmed Ali, in Kaduna. No handbrake! ![]() |
I asked the question on another thread some time ago. What is going on in the SW? The rate at which banks are being robbed there and the levels of violence employed are alarming. Perhaps, this is Shina Rambo 2.0, regardless, they need to end dead. @koruji Well done with your wild, red-eyed boko haram conspiracy theories. One of these days you will win an Oscar. Imagine suggesting that regions arm up, because of armed robbers. Even in the time of Anini, there were no such nonsensical suggestions; you're bursting the scales, bruv. |
I wonder why any ethnic bigot would want to deface a thread like this? There are some very damaged people on NL. When I was younger, I read with horror about instances of neo-natsi's defacing Muslim and Jewish burial places. I thought they were mad then, and I think they are mad now. |
nakedall:This is an example of how to practice talking crap. |
ACN also said it would encourage the Osun State Government to head to court to challenge what is clearly an illegal act by the federal authorities, in addition to demanding huge damages for FRCN’s failure to honour a contractual agreement.Who will pay the lawyers when Osun can't even pay its workers? Funny stuff! ![]() |
danjohn:Lol! Take up jesting for a living. When Buhari is long gone, some of you will vote for his "born to rule" bones. A man who served under Abacha and claims that Abacha never stole a farthing, even though he used our money to acquire a refinery in Sierra Leone so that we would import fuel from him, while running down our refineries at home and setting up PTF to reward friends with contracts. As chairman of PTF, he made his own cousin the sole consultant for monitoring and assessing the value of contracts. Afriproject consortium was so corrupt that at the inception of Abdulsalami's regime, fearful of exposure, Buhari's cousin committed suicide in his office. When the books of PTF were opened, the can of worms was so much that Haruna Adamu said he felt sickened by it. One body determined the contracts to be awarded, the payments to be made and whether the contracts had been satisfied. Do you know PTF estate in Wuse? The sweetheart deal that Buhari's PTF made with the contractor was so sweet. Not only would the contractor collect rent from PTF, but after 8 years, the place would be his to own! Also, it is on record that though most of the monies which accrued to PTF was sourced from the south, a disproportionately large amount of projects were concentrated in the north, and particularly in Buhari's home state of Katsina, with little done in the east and Niger Delta which needed help more than ever! Is Buhari a statesman?Keep crying crocodile tears for the destroyers of the nation. Even Buhari's coup was to cover up fraud in the petroleum sector, that was why he boldly announced that he was ready to resign barely 3 months into power, leaving his surbodinates in shock. He was fine with resigning though, because his men had destroyed all the evidence. Mission accomplished. |
