Puff Puff:A fatuah or two might be quite persuasive, afterall Al Qaeda still exists. |
Well i dint have much to say i just tire for all the saying ACN is a yoruba party well if its was then we are happy to build ourself around one party and gain our ground back what happen to APGA and PPA in SE what happen to DPP in SS what happen to CPC in the north i am proud to be from the SW OYO state precisely and also happy to be member of ACN when yoruba are speaking its God that is speaking if not for riging i wonder where PDP will be today Action Congress: Democracy for ever
Lol! "God speaking?" The bolded coming out of the mouth of an ACN member, resoundingly captures one leg of the argument I have been making in, which is tha ACN has a creed of ethnic supremacy. There is nothing wrong with being a regional or local party, but there is everything wrong with leaning toward paranoia and fascism. Those outside of your catchment area feel insulted (even wounded) by such things. It just doesn't make sense. |
PapaBrowne:This is all I feared about these elections, but lets not be frustrated. There is a serious possibility of an ethnic unhealthy chasm opening up in Delta state; we need to avoid this by every means possible. The elections were no doubt very flawed, but whoever of both men the final tribunal results favours, that man would need to realise the very heavy burden of unifying the state lies firmly on his shoulders. This is a delicate period that tribunals alone cannot fix, because the problem has become societal. We need our leaders, chiefs and wise men to broker lasting peace and understanding. 2011 is the year Delta state chooses to leap backwards or continue to strive to be much more than Nigeria's 3rd most developed state. |
Igbo Boy and Rhino.5dm, please stop your war. Abeg una wit God, let us discuss devoid of as much rancour as we can help. |
koruji:Dude, calm down. You are sounding extremely unreasonable. My perceptions are that ACN is a sectionalist party and Tinubu is a fascist, I do not see how you can persuade me or several others here who have reached the same conclusion by attacking my person. I also do not see how referring to GEJ and other political parties can change that perception, the thing that needs changing is strictly within ACN. Other parties might have their own problems, but this topic is about ACN. 99% of ACN's problems are with Tinubu who is bigoted and known to be extremely corrupt. How can a rogue be the leader of a pack of "holy" men? Isn't it funny that when Ibori haunted the political scene, we all joined hands to condemn him and call for his arrest; but with positions reversed, you do not see anything wrong with Tinubu and his obnoxious politics? Instead of reporting me to "Uncle" Gbawe, ask him if he can condemn Tinubu for his criminal ways, if he can not, why? |
I just pray for his own good that the OP isn't lying, because a false story of this nature is a sure way to draw the severest curses. Yekini is a national icon. |
kasiem:Wow! Thanks for the kind words and the invitation. Hehe! |
greateros:That opens the possibility you've always got me wrong. seanet02:It might seem difficult to accept that every individual in a murdering mob has fundamental human rights, but it is moral, logical and correct. In order to move forward, we must not repay wrong with wrong, especially by using law enforcement as a means to revenge; that will only set up a deepening spiral of law breaking and blood spilling. Nigeria has some of the most uncivilised law enforcement and crime prevention methods the World over, these are the things we need to look at, because the reason our police and army murder the innocent is the same reason they could not stop the crisis. It is also the same reason that lawless mobs turned on their fellow Nigerians and slaughtered them. It is also the same reason that ethnic bigotry and distrust are rampant. What is this underlying reason for so many Nigerian issues? One word runs through our current methods, sadly that word is primitivity. We really need to rescue and build up minds, whether its police, politician, soldier or almajiri. It is the only way equality and development can truly take off in the country. |
^ Lewis is almost certain to beat Rosberg off the line, Webber posibly too (though that guy blocks agressively to the point of irresponsibility). I wonder how McLaren could ever have let go of Adrian Newey? ![]() |

sbeezy8:Dude, everyone is at the bargaining table. The NE wants the speakership, but they have wheeled out their biggest very early in the day (which is an obvious sign of weakness). No doubt, both sides have quite "persuasive" tools at their disposal, GEJ's will always be deployed through powerful background proxies out of the public eye, but he has a far wider choice of options than any opponent. |
montelik: ![]() If anything, this shows that Jensons mind gets really cluttered under pressure. |
Vettel didn't get much running. I wonder how he will do? |
Crazy as the story sounds, it aptly describes our unfortunate methods of policing and murdering fellow Nigerians. We urgently need to mordenise our military forces and police services. The guarantee of human rights and sanctity of life is a fundamental of any democracy. We simply cannot continue to put forward jungle methods and primitive solutions. Development starts with the mind. There is little that can be done differently at this time though, because reform occurs over lengthy periods. |
Nigeria police, troops 'abused rioters' in north (AFP) – 45 minutes ago KANO, Nigeria — Rights groups on Friday accused Nigerian troops and police of abuses, including extra-judicial killings, as they sought to quell deadly riots in northern Nigeria after the April 16 presidential poll. Police and military officials could not be reached for comment, but a spokesman for the governor in the hard-hit state of Kaduna denied the allegations. New York-based Human Rights Watch and Civil Rights Congress, a local rights group based in the city of Kaduna, have separately accused soldiers and police of extra-judicial killings and other abuses. The abuses are alleged to have occurred in Kaduna and another northern city, Zaria, both of which were severely affected by the riots that Civil Rights Congress says killed more than 500 people. "In response to the post-election violence, troops and the police have been implicated in extra-judicial killings of unarmed residents," Eric Guttschuss, a researcher for Human Rights Watch who monitored the elections, told AFP. "Human Rights Watch has established documented extra-judicial killings in Kaduna and Zaria." He added that police and soldiers carried out raids and rounded up suspects following the violence, and "there have been credible reports that the police and military have severely beaten arrested persons in their custody." Shehu Sani, the director of Civil Rights Congress, also alleged extra-judicial killings and other abuses. Sani said soldiers and police flogged residents of Kaduna and forced them to frog-jump and roll on the ground for defying a curfew imposed by the state government amid the violence. "These acts are gross violations of the residents? rights and dignity," Sani said. "We have documented such abuses in addition to extra-judicial killings of innocent residents by soldiers and the police." The rights activists called for probes into the allegations. A spokesman for the Kaduna state governor dismissed the accusations as baseless and "a deliberate attempt to smear the image of the security personnel who have done an excellent job of restoring and maintaining peace in the state." "The government has not received any complaints of abuse or extra-judicial killings from any residents, and if such alleged abuses have taken place there was no way they could have escaped the knowledge of the government," Reuben Buhari said. Violent protests erupted across Nigeria's mainly Muslim north over the election won by incumbent Goodluck Jonathan, a southern Christian. His main rival was ex-military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim from the north. The riots displaced an estimated 74,000 people. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5hd3Xod5d3vxjUgqFvxODmiG_fBPA?docId=CNG.d52d510170bd9583e846ebb448b9e5c7.a01 |

Al Qaeda Confirms Osama Bin Laden’s Death On May 6, 2011 · In Headlines Al Qaeda have confirmed Osama Bin Laden’s death in a statement posted on jihadist internet forums. According to the U.S. monitoring group SITE Intelligence, coming five days after the Pakistan raid, the terror group in a statement warned their leader’s “blood will not be wasted” and attacks on American and its allies will continue. The statement, as translated by SITE. Bin Laden’s death will serve as a “curse that chases the Americans and their agents, and goes after them inside and outside their countries,” the message said. “Soon – with help from Allah – their happiness will turn into sorrow, and their blood will be mixed with their tears,” it said. Al Qaeda will “continue on the path of jihad, the path walked upon by our leaders, and on top of them” bin Laden “without hesitation or reluctance.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/05/breaking-news-al-qaeda-confirms-osama-bin-ladens-death/ |
How many of those Northern members are from the Middle Belt? Interests will sing a loud song. lol Middle Belt interests have since spectacularly diverged from core-Northern interests. So, selection by merit will be a good thing indeed. Maybe after that, we look at child voters and the hidden meaning for total size of population, which by the way is what translates to number of house of rep members? Certain moves are equivalent to drinking slow poison. |
Lol! The bastar'd must be regretting every last dime his filthy fingers stole. He is really lucky that he will be going to jail in England, where their jails are better than some of our lower quality hotels. If only the blighter could be sent to Uzbekistan where they boil prisoners alive. |
What bloody amnesty? Are the governers going to create replica children for the families that lost their loved ones? ![]() Let justice take its natural and conclusive course. As for zoning of the Presidency, that must be buried for ever and ever. We cannot afford such backwardness in any political party that hopes to take the country forward. Let all submit themselves based entirely on merit, we practice democracy and we can only roll it forward by becoming more democratic with each step. The governors position that the core-North feels sore and cheated off the Presidency must also be corrected. It was a set of irresponsible leaders that elevated a PDP vaguery to an almost religious level, way above the nations constitution and created the ethnically driven explosive situation that ended in mayhem. Fundamental lessons need to be learnt. |

You aren't making any sense fighting with yourself and making stories up. All almajiri's are are gonna be forced into school and into jobs; is that not development? Plus all the textile mills are going to be reopened, that aside from the billions set aside for the development of the North (you won't know sha, cos the only newspaper pages you see are the ones used to wrap kulikuli and suya ). |
koruji:Abeg, allow me carry on as I wish jare! My grouse is with Tinubu and his fascism. It doesn't have any bearing on GEJ. On the other hand, GEJ has demonstrated time and again that he is a fair player and a seeker of harmony. The concept of punishing the SW is terribly nonsensical. We are all Nigerians and the last time I looked, the SW voted for him by a landslide as well. Even if they hadn't voted for him, it would only mean he has to work harder to win the section over, its a democracy. |
koruji:The current legislators can't pass any new bill on taxation now, because most are leaving, so those plans are dead as a dodo. This is really a period of fresh starts, which we all hope can be harnessed. Now, GEJ has just returned from Obudu where all doors were open. Across Nigeria, we are all praying for a fairer system that is more business friendly and offers a real contract of belonging to each and every man, woman and child; ACN could have siezed the opportunity that most other parties took to lay his cards on the table. True federalism is an enterprise that needs support from the Middle Belt, SE, SS and SW. We might have our various petty quarrels, but deep down we all know that our interests converge by several magnitudes to their divergence. True federalism is also a very delicate issue that needs certain underground discussions before it is brought to the fore, it is also something that no single party is strong enough to make law on its own; it requires cross-party cooperation. Time frames, how the transition will be financed as well as the finer details would need to be pre-arranged. Perhaps, ACN hopes to acheive it if they gain overall federal clout, but that is extremely unlikely in the next 8 years at least. |

^ Who left the zoo gate open? ![]() |
koruji:Lol! That put a smile on my face. I wish I could send you some chilled odeku and goat peppersoup for your valiant efforts to label poor lil me, but you fail wella! ![]() |
koruji:The true federalism offered is nothing but poison. It is not possible to have true federalism while employing a fiscal structure that is even more dependent on Abuja than the current one. True federalism requires that both administrative and fiscal structures be decentralised, whereas the version ACN is selling requires that Abuja gives more money to the states, rather than the other way round with the states paying taxes to the centre. |
@koruji Dude, you know why you keep misfiring in your arguments with me on this matter? Its because you have convinced yourself that I am working for GEJ, I am not. I am simply telling you the perception on the street and the right thing to do is correct it instead of posting in super-size font about Obj and other stuff that is peripheral to the conclusions of the man on the street. In honesty, I didn't go past the first couple of lines of what you posted, not out of disrespect, but because you are so wide off mark that you are only seeing the colours you are painting. I hold the firm belief that Tinubu is a fascist from observation. I don't see how constantly referring to external matters to that belief will change it. That perception is also very widely held, so calling me names and making sad inferences is not going to change it one bit. |
