I will not allow you to dodge an effective criticism of your likes by taking statements of mine out of context. Would you be willing to admit that Sule Lamido has lost credibility among the Northerners and his current pronouncements are simply not as effective as you are projecting? By the way, leave jason123 alone. Don't try to disarm him by attempting to belittle him, he is more intelligent than you are, olodo.
Dude, I only noticed you criticising yourself. Its good to stand for something and not float with the wind. He used to be someone who was fit to be president to you before the primaries, but suddenly your thinking has been "zoned" away! Lolz |
Thanks for your instructive post. It simply exposes sycophants and GEJ goons, who project themselves as knowledgeable, as the ignorant people they really are. To them, any Northerner who vigorously supports GEJ, even if the reason is to protect himself from EFCC, deserves to be a Nigerian president in the future. wonders shall never end. mtcheeew!
Damn! I remember the way you effusively agreed with a post I made some time back about Lamido being one of Nigeria's very best leaders! Sir, we welcome you to the land of goons as king! ![]() In the meantime, bring out your ruler and start drawing the new border. |
Conference of defeated zoning lovers and losers. |
monkeyleg:Ok Mr political guru, what are the steps required before an SNC can be called? Make we see weda no be toilet roll de ya brain. At the end of the day, you might even be revealed as a Ciroma clone. |
monkeyleg:What is the state of the country? That North and South are fighting? Are you Ciroma's new attack dog? Abeg go and sleep jare! |
It is time to put a stop to the foolishness. This country is spending far more than it can afford to spend. To worsen it we are spending on all the wrong things. Mr. Jonathan and his bureaucrats should make an effort to read Atiku Abubakar’s letter to him regarding the 2011 budget. What we want is not a spirited defence but instead a reversal of course. The president should also read the recommendations of the PAC – ten specific steps that include the need to urgently cut the budget deficit and recurrent expenditure.Instead of Atiku to congratulate Jonathan after being roundly thrashed, he is busy sponsoring press stories. I de laf ooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! ![]() Poor Atiku and Atiku lovers. PDP primaries have been won by GEJ. Its done and dusted. Nutin de happen! ![]() www.nairaland.com/attachments/180447_ROTFLMAO_gif3d0c775232c7f27cf80592785b9635b6 |
Barely a week after the Presidential Advisory Committee, headed by Theophilus Danjuma, submitted a report advising the president – in a rare instance of ‘speaking truth to power’ – to prune the federal bureaucracyThey are part of GEJ's govt. Its not like they are ACN or CPC people. In any event, what new ministries were created, cos I conclude that many critics do not understand the PAC's recommendations which were laid out in simple English? |
monkeyleg:What writing? Are you the new Atiku? Change can never result from cowardice. You either cave in, roll over and accept what Ciroma and his crew dish out or you look them in the eye and defeat them. |
monkeyleg:It is premature to talk about an SNC now. Because its election time, it would be politicised beyond belief; the SNC option is something best proposed after April. I'm with you that its a way forward though. |
blacksta:It isn't compulsory to post when you have no grasp of issues, especially when your contribution is so simple minded. Do you think building a new army is a days job or part of a long term solution? Dude, you make me wonder. |
blacksta:I am not of the same ethnic group as Jonathan, so you have failed in your crude attempt to dodge the persisting question, which is: why aren't you attributing the actions of the present govt to Sambo?Your battery is weak. |
We will continue have these problems until the demographics of the army are corrected. We cannot continue to have an army whose officer corps is majority Hausa-Fulani. There needs to be a spread that reflects the ethnic make-up of the country; we cannot continue to have a partisan army that takes part in killing babies when they are meant to provide impartial arbitration and security. The army must be purged. Maybe we need to declare war on Cameroon to take them off our streets and sack their fvking arses before they return. |
“ Any person who says his fellow man does not like Islam, look at him and watch his relationship with others. They are ignorant by saying someone has deviated from his true religion. We are still in the North and we are seeing them, what is it that they have not said? Forget about such people. The electorate should go and vote for its choice, it’s an election and people know the right. They have seen those who ruled before, how was it, what level are the states in now? What becomes of the North and how strong is the Northerners’ strength?Word! We will see an accelerated propulsion of strong progressive Northern leaders to the fore, as the old pack of bats and Ciroma's fire their last set of wretched weapons and capitulate to inevitable defeat. |
blacksta:So why aren't you attributing the actions of the present govt to Sambo? Certain positions and statements don't even begin to sound rational. Thankfully, most folk aren't so logically challenged. |
jason123:Because you are loud, yet have zero knowledge. Please go and research your origins properly, it will form the basis of the learning process that is so necessary to the formation of your identity. Many of us have given you genuine advise about this as brothers, but you persist; especially when people can perceive you have no roots. Who do you think you are deceiving? There is zero foundation in 90% of your remarks concerning politics. |
Which is which? . Sunday, 30 January 2011 01:30 “We will not agree with this Baba so pe (the-leader-said) arrangement. We are in another level in politics and we should make everything democratic, else we shall work for the opposition party in the forthcoming elections” That was the statement credited to some ACN members who protested the imposition of some candidates at what were supposed to be a democratic primary elections of the Action Congress of Nigeria. This nature of grievances was recorded at Ekiti rerun, Lagos congress and Ogun congress. It is on record that three aggrieved members of the PDP in Ogun State were given automatic tickets to contest for the state legislature on the ACN platform. Whatever happens to those who have consistently gone through thick and thin and built the party over the years? That they are now inconsequential? What then is the reward for being loyal on one hand and being disloyal on the other hand? PDP is evil; as usually postulated by the ACN; but then the same evil people are being allowed to come into the fold of ACN. May be they are not evil in character but in ideology. But even at that, can the leopard change its skin overnight? Now that the Turaki of Adamawa has lost the PDP ticket to President Goodluck Jonathan, he may have to consider returning to ACN which he co-founded with Alhaji Bola Tinubu; after all the leadership of ACN had said that any candidate who lost in the PDP is free to come to their party. But then what would happen to the former Czar of EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for having consistently articulated the ideology of ACN? Time, they say, would tell. It is also on record that a stalwart of ACN came all the way from Abuja to Lagos to anoint Governor Babatunde Fashola - saying: “By the powers conferred on me…” And if I may ask, who conferred such powers on him to offer an automatic ticket to Governor Fashola to be the party’s flagbearer in the next gubernatorial election? In what capacity did he act? I’m aware that Chief Bisi Akande is still the Party’s Chairman. Whatever happens to the much talked about internal democracy? Are we saying that there are no other gubernatorial contestants in ACN who could give Fashola a run for his money; his lofty achievements in Lagos State in the last four years notwithstanding? I think the pot should stop calling the kettle black. If the ACN are criticising the PDP and probably some other parties for not conducting their affairs democratically, which may have led the entire country to this shameful stage, the ACN shouldn’t also been seen perpetrating such undemocratic acts. Given what Fashola has done so far in Lagos State as governor, I’m sure he’s capable and able to win another ticket to bear his party’s flag come April this year. Lobbying, scheming and intrigues are all part of politics in political permutations, but that methinks should be done in the background and not overtly. It may not be bad idea to have a godson to succeed one in office and carry on with the “good” job, but it is bad enough for a supposed leader to be seen being partisan when primary elections have not been conducted and concluded. It is not enough for us to always compare ourselves with the United States of America, but for us to walk the talk. The anointing of godsons and daughters that has pervaded our spheres and polity should by now be eschewed if we must take Nigeria to her next level. As towering and commanding as the Awolowos, Akintolas, Balewas and Ziks were, they never imposed their children, wives and daughters on Nigerians. Rather, they allowed every party member to evolve; they allowed party’s internal democracy to thrive. But today, a supposed great elder statesman could threaten that he would quit a party on which platform he had enjoyed absolute power for eight years; just because his daughter was denied an automatic ticket to contest in a general election. What have they turned this country to anyway? Does Nigeria belong to them alone? Why must Nigeria do their bidding at all times? I recall that a very large section of the Yoruba nation vehemently refused to queue behind Dr. Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, daughter of the late sage Awo; just because they felt that another person from another family should also be given the opportunity to lead them. In the days of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he had all the powers to impose his son, Oluwole, on the Yoruba people, but never did; even when the son had wanted to contest. Oluwole Awolowo eventually contested the UPN Primaries (for the House of Assembly ticket I think) but lost. Chinese writer, Sima Guang, said “Even though a ruler may be wise as a sage, he must humble himself and yield to others. Then the intelligent will offer him their counsel and the brave will exert themselves to the fullest for him.” Papa Awo is talked about today as one of the greatest Nigerians to ever live; because he humbled himself and allowed internal democracy to come to play. To me, that’s the spirit of great leadership; not the ones we have today, where some Yoruba moneybags would want to buy leadership by hook or crook. Leadership is not bought but earned. Wonders, they say shall never end; especially in Nigeria, where anything can happen with the highest measure of impunity. I read in a couple of national dailies about the ACN Electoral Form which has the clause: “Notice of Withdrawal of my Candidature.” Ever since I saw the prototype of the said obnoxious form in the papers, I’ve not ceased to wonder the rationale behind such forms being issued alongside the usual nomination forms for the House of Representatives, Senatorial and governorship aspirants. The content of the controversial form reads thus: “I hereby voluntarily withdraw as a candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria for the post of, in the April 2011 election for personal reason. I express my gratitude to the party and my supporters. I assure the party of my continuous loyalty. Thank you. Signed… Apparently, this clause is unusual, undemocratic, unlawful and immoral. Some of the aggrieved party members accused the party leadership of imposing loyalists, blood relations, their wives, concubines, sons and daughters-in-law on them. Really, nothing is wrong in one’s child or wife contesting in any election for that matter, but such a relation should be allowed to politically evolve. After all, George Bush Jnr became U.S. President after the eight years tenure of Bill Clinton and not immediately his father George Bush Snr left office as the President. Former President Bill Clinton probably had what it takes to lobby his wife’s through; but he never allowed emotions and sentiments to becloud his sense of reasoning. Bill Clinton reasoned that the African-American guy had better chances, programmes and methodologies than his dear wife. After all it was the same former U.S. President Harry Truman who said that “A leader is a man who has the ability to get other people to do what they don’t want to do, and like it.” Mrs. Hillary Clinton eventually lost the ticket to the current U.S. President Barack Obama. I hope our leaders would learn some lessons from this exposé and mend their ways so that Nigeria could actually grow beyond this level of myopia, bias and prejudice. I salute the courage of all those political aspirants that gallantly lost in the just concluded primaries of various parties and are ready to move on to support the winners. The bottom line is to have a better Nigeria of our dreams. 2011 General Elections, here we come! •Article reproduced due to public demand. I recall visiting a new school friend I had made as a young kid. I got to his door, knocked and asked for Paul, only to be greeted with a really quizzical stare from his mum, “there is nobody called Paul in this house!” I wasn’t to be put off by that though and I insisted that “Paul” had pointed this out as his house. . . Still no dice! I argued and described “Paul” until the penny dropped, “oh you mean Keme! Paul is the name he uses in school, his real name is Keme!” Keme’s name was never good enough for school because his parents were totally brainwashed by “white is right” and they associated education with appearing white and putting on pretentious white airs. All those who never bothered with the content of Patience Jonathans speech, and busied themselves instead with her diction are in the same unfortunate category as Keme’s (AKA Paul) parents. I have since lost contact with “Paul,” but it isn’t difficult to hazard a guess at what self-esteem issues he has grown up with. |
jason123:I don't care who you support, cos it carries no weight since by your very own admission at 28, you don't even know your village and you are a lost soul. I just don't want my thread polluted. If you have never heard of Sule Lamido, you are missing a trick. He is one of the most dynamic (if not the most) governors in Nigeria. This thread is a good intro: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-379261.0.html www.nairaland.com/attachments/218850_jigawa_JPG39e39e87ee911fd161aad063feae6290 |
Oppose Jonathan, divide Nigeria–Lamido https://www.compassnewspaper.com/NG/images/stories/Politicians/Sulelamido.jpg Sunday, 30 January 2011 00:38 Godwin Isenyo .Share 0JIGAWA State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido spat fire on Northerners who are opposed to the continuation of President Goodluck Jonathan in office on May 29, this year. If Northern opposition to the President continues, the country should simply be broken up, he declared, pulling no punches at key members of the North who have continued to raise anti-Jonathan sentiments. Lamido noted that opposition to Jonathan is subsisting although the President has secured the nod of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to fly its banner in the election. The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) last week declared the North’s opposition to Jonthan despite winning the PDP ticket at the party’s last national convetion in Abuja. Lamido, who spoke on the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) monitored in Kaduna said that no governor in the North was coerced to vote for the president at the last special convention of the party where he emerged as the party standard bearer for the election, contrary to speculations. Lamido also argued that the issue of zoning was laid to rest by the party during the special convention of the party on January 13. He added that the overwhelming votes cast for the president at that convention superseded even the constitution of the party. The Governor said that if Northern Muslims could insist that President Jonathan, a Southern Christian, should not be President, then, there is a need to divide Nigeria and let each zone determine its direction. He argued further that those championing a Northern presidency are uncivilised, adding that such sentiment would only lead to the destruction of the north itself. His words: “The point is they are using such sentiments to destroy the North. What is politics all about? Following your opinion. But for someone to say one must abide by his opinion no matter how, is wrong. People should be allowed to do what they want. If that is the case, we should divide the country so that we could have the section for Christians and that of the Muslims,” he said. Lamido continued: “We should know that this issue of zoning, out of about 60 political parties, this zoning issue is for the PDP alone. It does not bother those in the ANPP, CPC or ANC. But because of the circumstance we found ourselves, it has become a general issue. Now they are denouncing the PDP but the fact is that they cannot change anything. “ Look at what happened in Kano during the ANPP, there was this boy called Ibrahim Little. For many years he was the only major figure in the ANPP but in the end they forcefully rejected him. Look at how Abacha’s son joined a party within two months and seized everything. So those people, what they are doing, they feel is what everybody is doing. “Jonathan is not the governor of Abia, he is not the governor of Borno or Kastina. Therefore such noise….It is wrong for someone to be listening to the sermons of a gossiper…for someone from another party to come and be saying all sorts of things against the PDP, like the party is against Islam, Sule does not like Muslims, he has gone astray by following non believers, okay let’s see.” Explaining why some states did not wholly vote for Jonathan, Lamido said: “Whoever did what he did, did that based on his opinion and wishes. Some are afraid, others are frightened. But for us, we have been in it for over 30 years. We were frightened, we were made to be afraid, they said we don’t like Islam, that we are anti-North…but those who judge somebody’s faith, look at them. What becomes of the North and how strong is the Northerners’ strength? On demonstrations in some states against the PDP like in Kaduna where the PDP flag was burnt, he said: “Any member of the PDP, wherever he might be, is known. The party has followers everywhere, in the local governments and everywhere. Those perpetuating such crisis, not all are in PDP. But the point is that there are some lazy politicians who feel they have lost. We know their antecedents, they cannot be trusted. They are Muslims but they don’t know what the religion demands. “ All these allegations that the North has been marginalized, they don’t know about it. They are the ones causing such problem and we have small children that are unemployed. Poverty is unlimited here. These burnings, humiliations, and abuses, would that wipe out the poverty in the North? They should choose to live in peace so that we work for their development. “All the people talking are those in CPC and ANPP, and they were never in PDP before. There was ANPP administration in Jigawa, all those in CPC or ANPP in the state, even before he was in ANPP and not in PDP.” Lamido also said those who might defect from the party were not true members of the PDP. “I heard what Ribadu, Buhari and Shekarau were saying, that they would provide good leadership devoid of ethnic or religious sentiment…Those who failed election in the PDP and are now alleging foul play, perhaps the other time they won nobody heard them say anything. To them, PDP was the best at that time. “It is wrong to politicize religion because of Jonathan…a Muslim does not lie, he does not gossip or mislead, or blackmail people.” By Godwin Isenyo, Kaduna http://www.compassnewspaper.com/NG/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=74210:oppose-jonathan-divide-nigerialamido&catid=43:news&Itemid=799 |
I hope this crisis spells the end for Dr. Zahi Hawass. That creep is one of the worst showmen and pretenders to be unleashed on the intellectual World. |
OAM4J:Yar Adua's cabal was actually auctioning the PHCN / NIPPS equipment at the ports for their personal gain. Multi-billion dollar equipment, shipped in with tax payers money! ![]() GEJ and Sambo put a stop to the brazen theft, freed the equipment for use and found ways to supply gas (even though Yar Adua's cabal said that was impossible). We are slowly beginning to see the benefits. |
I am getting convinced that war is the only way to rid Nigeria off the "born to rule" mentality that is at the root of all our problems, from Jos to zoning. |
GenBuhari:So what? That is the weakest argument anybody can make. Do you know that many policemen are armed robbers? |
juman: Bros! Do you want to wound some people?! There are types who find any progressive discussion too tedious and naturally gravitate to "pull your neighbour down" topics or become leading stars in the employment of gutter tactics, such as abusing a mans wife simply because, they hate him for reasons best known to them and for their level of morality, no tactic is too low. This is not to say though, that every critic falls into that bracket. There are some that genuinely care; but you will find that people in that category are civil about any concerns and do not abuse the woman or any of GEJ's family. |
^ El Rufai is currently ticking all the right boxes. He regularly appears on talk shows, at social gatherings and writes the occassional thoughtful article. His strategy is a masterclass of how to build a solid political base. He projects an aura that is friendly, pro-Nigerian, highly informed and highly intelligent. El Rufai strikes the impression of a man imbued with wisdom and leadership qualities, whereas Ribadu is a fast burning fuse that in his headlong scramble for power at the highest rung, seems headed for the political bin instead. When the dust from the current political upheavals in the North settles, El Rufai will rise as a natural king. I see him as a future quality leader of Nigeria. |
EMANY 01:It is impossible to overlook the fact that he does have some following in the 6 core Northern states. A lot of the youth in those places look up to him as an icon and example; therefore, we must all be concerned with where he is leading our fellow Nigerians. What do his followers actually believe and why would they follow a man who is not showing any leadership initiative whatsoever at such a crucial time in his political evolution? He only gets to know the details of merger plans when its time for signatures, whereas he is the undisputed CPC leader and presidential candidate; that can't be right. No doubt, this is an important chink in Buhari's amour, and those of us who care about the country need to begin seeking ways to Buhari's followers in practical and intellectual terms, that there are more productive and effective directions than following a man who rather than sieze the bull by the horns, seems to have placed his fate in the wind, and the whims, hopes and prayers of his followers and staff. The time to roll out drums will come in April, God willing; but for now we must be highly concerned about why quite a few people keep tagging after a personality whose leadership and direction are absent. |
