Genbuhari3:Stop being a sentimental fool and make some sense. Buhari is the one who said he wishes to institutute sharia across Nigeria, not Beaf. Deal with it. |
voros:Hmmmm! Very "intellectual" input to the thread! Wow! |
^ Did you read the article? The man is before a court of law facing the legal ramifications of his actions. The governor never locked him up. Mukhtari Ibrahim Aminu, the man arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Dutse for allegedly insulting Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State on Facebook has been remanded in prison till February, 7, 2011. |
blacksta:You will continue to play the part of an unwitting Ciroma poodle by asking such daft questions. Where is the Atiku campaign that was hinged on; "Jonathan is a weak, clueless, coward?" They've been very efficiently and quietly parceled into the bin by the man they described with such words; a thorough disgrace really. Was there any announcement or fanfare before the new troops arrived? Dude, even the STF commander doesn't know who they are. Everything GEJ does is silent and effective, so keep decieving yourself. No one else is fooled. |
violent:What do you mean freedom of speech? Slander is and has always been a crime, why should it be different because it was done on the web? Same goes with making threats and similar. Nigerians in particular do not seem to realise that the law is just as powerful on the web as it is on the streets. This should be an effective eye opener, in fact there should be many more jailings as happens in Western countries. By the way, Sule Lamido is right up there with Fashola as an effective governor who has worked miracles. |
No longer will soldiers join in the Jos massacres and burnings of women and little babies! It is a thing to be happy about! Now we need to send those STF fvkers to Ivory Coast, let them go fight real wars, not wars against little babies. |
Its called Operation Rainbow. Its the kernel of a 10,000 man non-partisan army that will be very high tech, disciplined, law abiding and professional. The army is being carried along in the new Nigeria that is being born. Fresh Air 2011! |
Sky Blue:Nigeria is bogged down by mediocrity, but we were once a country with beautiful prospects and brimming talent. Mediocrity comes in little steps (its the little steps that kill), the OIC was one, military rule was another, religion and luck in politics is yet another. Nigeria (alongside Malaysia and Singapore) was once projected to be a leading country, but while the other two have fulfilled that projection. Nigeria is still a developmental sandpit. Accepting a religious ticket is a step toward the abyss we cannot afford. What it really says, is that we are willing to play dice with the future in a panic induced by despondency; but what we really need is a plan and a cool head. All Buhari ever talks about is corruption, but corruption is not at the root of Nigeria's problems, what we need to adress is what causes Nigeria to be fertile ground for corruption. Buhari has never spoken in that light, perhaps he is leaning only on religion and is not a deep thinker. |
Nigeria: April Polls - Northern Leaders Rally Behind Buhari Augustine Madu-West 22 January 2011 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kano — Sentiments being expressed by Northern leaders from the core Hausa-Fulani communities in the North West region indicate that the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, is now the new bride in that part of the country. This may be due to the fact that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential primaries to incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. Investigations conducted by Sunday Independent shows that most of the Northern leaders and supporters of Atiku have now pitched their tent with the General's group and have already embarked on a massive campaign to drum up support for him, regarding the April polls. At the last count, there are no fewer that three known presidential candidates from the North: Buhari of CPC, Ibrahim Shekarau of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Nuhu Ribadu of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). We learnt that of all the three candidates for the presidency, Buhari is most favoured, largely because of his experience and age. Besides, he is considered a veteran of the presidential race, having contested twice (2003 and 2007) on the platform of the ANPP. His pedigree as the former Head of State and Minister are all considered as an advantage. The North is still groaning over Atiku's defeat, and some of the leaders of the region have expressed their disappointment openly. "We have said it before that there is no way the North will accept a Southerner as president beyond 2011, because we still insist that going by PDP's zoning formula, the presidency of 2011 remains their (North) legitimate claim," said Second Republic governor of Old Kaduna State, Lawal Kaita. He told our correspondent that since the North has been robbed of their chance by the PDP leadership, "we are now ready to queue behind the General and work towards his success in the April polls". Another influential Northerner who expressed the same belief is Second Republic Senate president, Abubakar Dan Musa from Katsina, the General's home state. "General Buhari is a man of integrity who has demonstrated his leadership qualities when he was at the helm of affairs in the country. During his tenure, the country witnessed economic prosperity and above all a peaceful atmosphere that promoted commerce and internal development." http://allafrica.com/stories/printable/201101240885.html |
Sky Blue:Buhari has been repeatedly pressed on the sharia issue (if he intends to propagate it across the entire Nigeria) and he has repeatedly dodged the question. Nigeria is a secular country, but is already listed among Islamic nations due to our being smuggled into the Organisation of Islamic Conference by IBB. We need to sidestep all religious tickets as a matter of national survival. There might be a legislature in the country, but it will start with sharia states being more overt, and then increased pressure from the almighty presidency and before you know it, there will be sharia in Abuja and its sorrounding areas. |
kcjazz:Some people are really daft and don't realise that the exact same laws they are subject to on the streets govern the web as well. A Nigerian that supports child marriages or sodomy on the net can be jailed. If anyone threatens another on the web, the victim can seek legal action. Many have been jailed, because they foolishly believe they can't be traced. People, except you are a clued up hacker, you can be traced very easily (sometimes to whithin a few metres of where you stand or to your exact street number). Information Technology is a frightful thing if you know how things work. |
13volts:Jang will not resign, neither will there ever be a state of emergency in Plateau. You guys dream on, the days of baby killers are numbered. |
Genbuhari3:Sharrrrrrraaap dia! I was among youthful protesters that stopped a column of tanks from Ikeja cantoment, after we had blocked Ikorodu road during anti-IBB protests. Many of us were much younger than you are; we fully understand the political calculus of Nigeria. All you can do is rifle out what you think are achievements by rote. Buhari DID NOT build a single refinery. |
What is he going to preach now in Latter Rain? That it is ok to be Muslim after he has spent decades calling them devils? Yes, I have been in his church. ![]() There is simply no place for Pastors in politics. |
Genbuhari3:Stop being dense. Bakare is just a cheap sellout. Buhari thoroughly represents everything Nigeria is fighting to overthrow, especially zoning. If you don't know that the single biggest cog in the wheels of the nations progress is the core North (or conservative North), then you are a non-starter: Core North endorses Buharihttp://www.newsstarng.com/index.php/news/6389-core-north-endorses-buhari |
What strikes me as odd, is why he chose to be Buhari's Vice Presidential aspirant. Does he represent second best? After all the noises he has made, you would expect him to vie for presidency directly, and not settle a mere running mate, powerless in the scheme of things. The questions really has to be asked about how genuine he is and how he has accepted second fiddle whereas his preaching all these years says he and his flock must be the first, not the last. So, what has really happened? |
johndoe200:Word! Most people fail to see Nigeria either through the eyes of others or through the realities on the ground. What will be interesting to witness would be how Buhari/Bakare mobilise in the places that matter, motorpacks, markets and streets. Rich pipul no de vote! I cannot see these guys mobilising a house fly, Buhari has following among religious fanatics up North; but, there are nearly none down South. |
soldee:Bakare has no political legs in the SW (apart from some Latter Rain peeps), so forget about Buhari doing anything in the SW, that field is gonna be a battle between GEJ and Tinubu's boys. Kwara and Kaduna (Sambo's home state) along with the Middle Belt and some North Eastern states like Bornu, Bauchi, Jigawa will go GEJ's way. Buhari will win in 4 or 5 core Northern states and that will be it. |
jacoby70ng:Yes, the US will go any length to save a citizen, even if it means leaving the Solar System. The citizens see that and respond in kind; that is why the US is great. What GEJ has done is commendable. |
SapeleGuy:Bros, I will rig elections for Mercy Johnson! I will steal DDC machines and make Jega confess! ![]() |
Am I supposed to be impressed with the bolded part? I never doubted his brilliance and the credentials blah blah I am merely doubting his character - those are not the same. The way he was dribbling up and down at the senate when faced with that common crook Omisore is an example.
No one is asking you to be impressed that Aganga has spent practically his entire professional life in the UK; in zeroing in on that, you missed the whole point, which is that he is in a different culture from the one he is accustomed to and is like a fish out of water. The senate confrontation only served to illusterate that further where people like Aganga would be found exchanging words or raising their voices over their dead bodies. I'm not taking Aganga's side in this, just pointing something that might make him react in ways that are strange to the rest of us and which we might percieve in negative ways. |
naijaking1:Chineke me e!! Life on NL is much different from life in the real World where I am the most introverted dude you'll ever see. Which kain fire-spitting? In politics, one has to be calm and calculating in order to win all the time. Soludo needs to add calm to his arsenal, it doesn't tell well when he fires off such "let us fight" articles. |
ladi02:Yes o! We will decamp to GEJ at the very last moment. ![]() |
Abagworo:. . .But how can one use logic in discussion with a fool? Don't bandy around concepts you can only just about spell. So to you a weak central govt = true federalism? That simplistic? Dude, thats bloody daft. What is even more daft is to think any President can do it by fiat. On second thoughts, daft is too light a word; lets settle for foolish, stupeed or cretinous. |
violent: proflynks1:Nah, I was just kidding! ![]() |
GEJ will win in Ribadu's village, sad but true. The man is only known in Lagos. As for Buhari, its gonna be total defeat for the last standing religious bigot and sharia evangelist. I predict that Nigeria will pull out of the Organisation of Islamic Conference and other religious groupings by 2013, because we are not an Islamic nation. Nigeria is secular and must remain so. |
Tinubu. |
jason123:Whats GEJ's business with Clark? Abeg free GEJ. |
fstranger1:Damn! ![]() |
misterh:The bomb was found in Bauchi state, not Plateau. The crisis is political and people are intent on spreading it. |
Thank God! At last our security folk are learning. Their actions would have saved quite a few lives. |
^ He shouldn't have replied. I've always been a Soludo fan as far as economics is concerned, but when it comes to politics he seems to cut the figure of a short tempered person, which isn't very good.
Both Soludo and Aganga lacked character even though brilliant. Aganga is even worse because we don't know what he stands for.
You are being very unfair to Aganga. He spent his professional life in the UK where the stiff upper lip is admired and you only hear from finacial bosses when the beans is burnt, but in Nigeria, he is expected to be vocal and boisterous. The man is very brilliant and good for Nigeria, but like a fish out of water. |
