Brilliant suggestion! Filament bulbs are already banned in most of Europe and the West in general in order to create a smaller carbon footprint (use less energy).
The bonus as you've pointed out, is the enormous savings each household would make.

The Federal Government has told the European Union delegation to Nigeria that the country will only enter into partnerships for trade or development that benefit the country as against the former practice where it subscribed to all partnerships.

This position was conveyed by the Chief Economic Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Professor Precious Kassey Garba when EU Ambassador to Nigeria , David Macrae paid her a visit in Abuja.

Garba also solicited the support of EU to develop and put critical infrastructure in place that will solve the problem of unemployment and usher good life to the people of the country.

She told the delegation that while they should assist Nigeria to build and develop, they should also carry other regional states along so that there would be even development of countries in the West African region.

Garba said the government of Nigeria wants to refocus and go for what is beneficial to the country by selectively choosing what will be of common interest to the partners while on the economic front, the nation will move from source dependent economy to a sophisticated one.

She agreed that the areas of interest to Nigeria was trade, investment from outside and assured that the federal government was putting the right environment in place to enable the foreign investment to thrive.

The Chief Economic Adviser said strategic development was needed to develop capacity that will enable them compete favourably with other economies in the world.

"We want to move away from agreements where our partners benefit more than we do. We want to see partnerships that benefits and move us away from source dependence. We need to transit to industrial State", she said.

Garba said there was need for the nation to choose areas of immediate interest and development so that the capacity for fair competition with other developed economies would be there through technical ability to process materials. Macrae at that juncture noted that carrying other countries along especially in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) along posed the problem especially with the differences in the interests, adding that a careful balancing was needed.

He said since Nigeria was almost half of the region, having it progress was like solving the problem.

He said Nigeria should not emphasise more on development funds but should diversify into trading and diversification of the economy which has already started while the area of Agriculture should be emphasised.

Macrae noted that it was good that the two countries which have been cooperating should continue to explore areas of common interest as they have the willingness and capacity to enter into mutually beneficial partnerships.

Lawal Kaita was a Governor of old Kaduna state for probably only 3 months before Buhari kicked them out. He was one of the schemers that got Balarabe Musa impeached as governor of Kaduna state and since then he has unsuccessfully tried to contest numerous political appointments but couldn't get any. He was in Obj government until towards the end when he moved to ACN with Atiku. People like Lawal Kaita do not represent us and have very few political influence outside newspapers. He is a crooked, unless propped by his corrupt colleagues, no one like him even in his village.

How can somebody withstand the constant barage of insult, lies and derogation on this site and even on Nigerian Newspapers? I have another life to live, a career to pursue, a wife and 3 kids to feed. I don't think Buhari is too interested in Southern votes, otherwise he would have sealed the ACN deal and not gone for a running mate with no constituency. He is just looking to dilute his zealot image and found a cheap pastor with a cheap price that he could use.

After that, all Northern states and some SW ones would follow in order to be in the Buhari's good books. Extending the practice to all Muslim enclaves and areas (e.g. Hausa Quarters in Warri) will the easiest thing; by the time the govt is done, the landscape will be unrecognisable.
