Proper etiquette would have told Aganga not to trash his predecessor. He doesn't have to agree with his predecessor, but that does not mean he has the moral authority to trash another man's record.
You mean Sanusi's predecessor, but you are right. Aganga brought this on himself, probably thought Soludo would take it on the chin and shut up. However, Soludo went way overboard with his reaction. Lets watch how this will be resolved, cos Aganga is certainly not going to be caught further exchanging words with Soludo. Right now, Soludo is a wounded lion, a politician without any constituency and one who has just lost heavily in the PDP primaries, so it might be best to leave him well alone. . . But you never know, some might just twist the shank further. |

aguiyi:I have no regrets for my words to Abagworo. Our arguments go back a long way and are tense, because he supports terrorism under the guise that he loves true federalism, yet he doesn't even have the slightest clue of what the definition of true federalism entails. If you go through his posts, you will notice a very ugly trend. I have no regrets whatsoever. The future of our country and generations yet unborn must not be toyed with by those whose words are cheap. For those of us with a passion for the country, verbal conmen and word twisters like Abagworo are the enemy of progress. |
There is some really sad politics going on in the core North. It is heartening that men like Lamido have risen solidly against it. The ugly politics being played out from bombings to ugly text messages, from religious bigotry to ethnic bigotry has been the bane of Nigeria. |
April polls: I’m sad, Buhari is being demystified – Gov Lamido From NOAH EBIJE, Kaduna Monday, January 31, 2011 Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido has taken a critical look at the chances of the former head of state, General Muhammad Buhari in the April presidential polls, saying the retired army general’s supporters are ruining his (Buhari) chances. Specifically, Lamido pointed out that the text messages that made the rounds soon after the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential primary elections, which urged people of the North to vote for Buhari and not Jonathan on religious ground was actually demystifying the former head of state. He spoke yesterday at an interactive session with journalists in Kaduna, even as he said his sympathy for Buhari was merely out of human feeling not that he liked the presidential hopeful as a leader. He also frowned at various killings going on in the country, particularly the Jos killings, warning that unless a stop was put to it, the country might not hold election as, according to him, Jos held the key to future elections and security of Nigeria. “There was a time they said, vote Islam, vote Buhari and they think they are helping Buhari. They are simply destroying him. Buhari was Nigeria’s former head of state and carries Nigeria’s symbolism in him as former head of state. “So, those text messages are very unfortunate and I think they are undermining Buhari and I feel very sad for him. I am not saying that I like Buhari but I feel very sad for him because he is being demystified as a former head of state. But I am not worried. I was called a bishop. “He is a symbol of our national unity and therefore, whether you like him or not, whether you are a Christian or Muslim or wherever you come from, Buhari was your head of state. That is very important. “He will feel so demeaning and sad that they are denying him that authority, that national limelight which he is, because he is a former head of state. So, those who thought they are campaigning for him are actually undermining him and reducing him to a local person and I don’t think he is happy. “Secondly, those text messages do not carry a proper reflection of the mind of northerners, the North which the Premier laboured to build across all divides. So, I don’t think there is any cause for alarm.” “At any rate, we must decide what we want in Nigeria. We want a united, stable, secured and prosperous country or we want a country where we kill each other every other day? In the last 30 years, we have been killing ourselves. Hausas have died, Christians have died, Kanuris have died, Muslims have died. So, we have been killing each others. “So, it is time we decide what we want. If we want a country that is based on religion, we should simply say that we want a northern Muslim country and then, we divide ourselves. We must decide or for the sake of younger people like you and not to forsake your own future for a bigger security and for you to grow and become governors, Ministers and businessmen and become prosperous and be people who are secured in a very safe country. “Unless and until something is done and done soon enough, we may not be able to have elections in Nigeria. Jos holds the key to future elections in Nigeria and future Nigeria security. “The senseless killings on daily basis to the extent that the military which is supposed to be Nigeria’s last line of defence is now being attacked, then, it means we are in trouble. “Unless something very drastic is done in Jos, we may not be able to have a very free election in Nigeria. We may not even be able to have election because this is something that you need to do under a very secure environment. “If the environment is secured, if we don’t really stand up and say enough is enough and put our feet down, and stamp the authority of government to be able to handle the country properly, we may not move forward because it is a very dangerous situation that we are in.” Lamido said. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/jan/31/national-31-01-2011-016.htm |
aguiyi:Why? Do you think true federalism is something that can just be magically invoked on the country in a democracy? |
Abagworo:With due respect, the bolded is an immensely stupeed comment. True federalism requires several fundamental constitutional, societal, fiscal and organisational changes. You think the President can simply get a copy of the constitution, cross out some lines, alter others, add a few fresh ones, then sign it? Are you living on the Moon? Sometimes I wonder why some folk pretend to know things they so obviously don't. Dude, you don't know the meaning of true federalism, so please keep shut. @topic Yes, Ironsi did us bad and those that followed saw his actions as the greatest gift through which they could enslave and brutalise the nation. |
alj harem:You are the only cow on NL that doesn't know Gbawe is an ACN boy and Tinubu is his oga. Every single word he says on NL is for the benefit of ACN and Tinubu. Dude, go back to running after goats. Whats the name of that your village again? ![]() |
More to come. It happened a few minutes ago. |
cap28:Hmmmmm! Na wa! All this pain over another mans wife? Loff na very strong tin! ![]() I'm laughing so much, its difficult to even post this. Love for another mans honey has made a full grown man regress down the evolutionary tree! Write a loff letter to Aso Rock na, and see how quickly mopol boots will whip out the 7 demons of madness that are causing your loff for Patience Jonathan who is already very happily married. ![]() |
Gbawe:It is easy to spread rumours and slander people you do not know. What is your basis for saying Aganga is dishonest? It is a pretty serious claim to make. I would expect any person with the slightest modicum of decency to thoroughly back their words up, not just pluck gutter words to disparage another mans character from thin air. By the way, what attracted your Tinubu to the drug trade and why do you not pick on his criminality? Is it that you customarily apply double standards? How can any Tinubu supporter condemn the current govt? Based on what? |
^ Aside from the above daft comment, this is your only other comment on this thread, and its foolish too. homerac7:Soludo is still smarting from the very heavy loss team Atiku suffered at the PDP primaries, thats why he is making all these sudden challenges. Its funny really. |
Where is Beaf? I eagerly await his comments.
I have always been a Soludo fan, but I must say he has become the latest traitor for Ciroma's ethnically bigoted cause. Like Atiku, Soludo does not seem to have the moral strength to let go after their thunderbolt loss at the PDP primaries. Aganga is better off not joining sore losers in their single-minded mission to nowhere. The PDP primaries can never be won by Atiku's team, no matter what they do; its done and dusted. |
jabbok:On whose behalf? The problem with most of our "educated" youth, is that they lack the slightest political sophistication. Soludo is Ciroma's new traitor. Period. |
^ What the hell is wrong with you? All the weapons on these pages are bleeding edge stuff, not piles of imported WWII shyte. |
Atiku has lost, so Soludo should shut up and stop being the Southern traitor for Ciroma. |
Now commercial buses wear Goodluck posters By Stella Odueme Correspondent, Lagos •Posters President Goodluck Jonathan has not only won the support of thousands of his party’s delegates to the last Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Convention, but now the wave of the support for him is spreading beyond politicians to ordinary Nigerians now expressing their love and pre-election loyalty ways strangely unprecedented. At sports arena, pubs, inside public buses, even at bus stops and parks, the subject of discussion of all people is the April poll and the heavyweights in the most exciting race, the presidential election. Newspapers are awashed with stories about 2011 election more than before, television and radio stations give the April special event a priority on their programming, the clergymen that before now tried to be apolitical now cry more to God for good government because the people’s groan will cease, but what concerns the ordinary Nigeria is who gains their mandate to wear the presidential crown? This may be the question that snowballed into hot arguments among operators of public transport at the commercial motor park at the National Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) along the International Airport Road, Ikeja, on Sunday as three bus drivers engaged themselves over who first pasted the “breath fresh air poster” which emblazons the picture of President Goodluck Jonathan on their buses. One of them, Wale Aina, told everyone that cared to listen that he was the first to hang the poster on his bus. His fellow commercial driver, Ezekiel Ogigwe, claimed he was the first person to embrace the idea. “Come and look at my own, you can see that it is very old. I was the first person to paste the poster on my bus in this park before others started copying me,” Aina insisted. “Don’t mind him, I was the first before anybody else here,” Ogigwe countered. Innocent Ikpokpo attempted to settle the controversy by saying, “all drivers believe in President Jonathan and that his programmes are geared towards poverty alleviation for citizens of this country.” What was quite intriguing was the fact that the more the air blew and mutilated the poster on the bus’ panels, quickly were they replaced with fresh ones. They explained they were doing so because of their love for the President. “It is true that after some time, the poster will spoil our buses. See the first one I pasted, it has disfigured my bus but that is no problem at all. I will take it to the panel beater and have it fixed again. I just like the man, so nothing is too much for me,” Aina said. On his part, Ogigwe assured that he knew the repercussion of the action but also maintained that his love for President Goodluck was his consolation. “Actually I know that it will spoil my bus. The thing has already disfigured a part of my bus but after its removal, I pasted this new one last Friday and I feel good about it,” he stated. Indeed, Daily Independent observed that nearly all buses in the park are decorated with the posters; giving a picture that the electioneering bug has bitten drivers in the park and maybe they were ‘contracted’ to show such unimaginable love for somebody who plays no important role in their private lives. But they all denied being gratified to act any drama when Daily Independent asked if they had been rewarded for the expression of such inexplicable loyalty like political thugs. However, passengers and other passersby were quick to note that it was impossible to elicit that kind of support without any form of inducement. “I don’t believe that they were not given anything to paste those posters on their buses. This is Nigeria, I’m very sure that something must have exchanged hands,” said Bisi Ayoola, a passenger in one of the buses en-route Ikeja. However a passerby, Nwosu Alozie, a worker in one of travel agencies in Ikeja, stated that the use of posters on vehicles is a cheap way for politicians to campaign because their campaign message is taken to all points the vehicle gets to. Apart from this, “It de-emphasises political rallies as the only avenue where politicians can advertise or ‘broadcast’ their programmes to their supporters,” he stated. Adegbenro Adesua, while commenting on the appearance of President Jonathan’s posters on vehicles said “It shows that we are developing politically in this country. We don’t need the physical appearance of candidates on soap boxes before we know them, but they can use other media such as jet smoke, television, radio, advertisement in newspapers and posters. Poster is the cheapest because it can cover wide area and the best because it doesn’t create jobs for thugs.” However whether posters, on walls, panels of trains and buses are functional electioneering materials, the verdict of April polls will determine. Meanwhile, good governance and grassroots mobilisation are said to be the bedrock for the formation of a non-governmental organisation, Goodluck/Sambo Success Foundation (GSSF). It was gathered that the organisation, with formidable network within and outside the country has a permanent structure that is expected to leave beyond the April 2011 polls. It was also revealed that membership is opened to all patriotic Nigerians from all parts of the country irrespective of their political affiliations and is being chaired by Dr. Christopher Ajakaiye. According to Comrade Diala Onyema who gave insight into the NGO, the aims are to: create an enabling political, social and economic environment that would enable President Goodluck Jonathan and Namadi Sambo succeed in governing the country, monitor and promptly notify government of saboteurs to the democratic process as well as activate and propagate an enduring formidable grassroots structure that would constantly mobilise support for the programmes of government among others. “It will serve as an informal intelligent network that will provide additional information for qualitative management of the nation and for societal peace, stability and tranquility. It will also create awareness through well planned political activities and programmes that will emphasis the need for all sections of the country to support government so as to achieve the goal of poverty alleviation for all citizens,” he disclosed. http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=28016

cap28:All this for the love of another mans wife? Dude, do you realise you're regressing down the evolutionary tree? There is a 100% guarantee that you will get a mind straightening once over from highly dedicated mopols. . . The cure will be immediate! ![]() |
cap28:Daft. So remembering your ancestral roots means you should stop buying Werstern goods? What does buying Western goods even have to do with quality of spoken English? In your miserable time in the UK, have you ever witnessed anyone being turned away from a shop, because their English isn't good? What has English even got to do with being Western, cos the last time I looked Germany, Spain, France and a few others were non-English speaking Western countries? I would have doubted it was biologically possible for a grown man like you to be so dim, but the evidence is staring me in the face. Listening to the ranting of an addled mind can be thoroughly entertaining though! Dude, you should be in a research clinic or in a zoo. |

violent:Dude people change, some for the good, some for the worse. If you aren't an Atiku supporter, then please read thoroughly before commenting; perpetual haste means perpetual errors of judgement. . . .And I am not throwing any barbs at you, cos you are one of the few seemingly decent anti-GEJ fella's; on your part, stop sinking down the path of unprovoked personal statements, its cheap sir. |
violent:Dude, Atiku has been defeated and consigned to the rubbish dump. Why not simply accept it? Lolz |
violent:The article specifically names Atiku as the person who should be listened to. I guess there's something about being so caught up in an empty cause that one fails to even read a simple article properly. Didn't you sleep well, or is it just that you had nightmares about the trashing of zoning, ethnically and religiously bigoted politics that some of your people so relish?
