If this is not curbed, sadly, it will migrate to other regions.
The men who left the bomb were well dressed and educated, so there isn't really a question of the bombing migrating. Bombs have become a political tool and it is all due to problems that we have ignored for decades, even after fighting a costly war.
The only positive is that, Nigeria will come out of this a better place (together or in pieces).

It is far less costly and much more productive to sort out the Nigerian framework than for ethnic bigots to scream about the SS.
Yar Adua was so daft that he spent $3billion arming the JTF, rather than much less costly solutions such as guaranteeing justice, human rights and a timescale / framework for true federalism. None of the above would have harmed Nigeria in any way, in fact, every aspect of an equitable ND package would set the country up firmly for development. But I guess ethnically bigoted minds are incapable of thinking outside a limited set of parameters.

Yar Adua also signed one-sided treaties with the US, thinking AFRICOM would wade into the Niger Delta, even though the US makes it quite clear at every sitting that the ND is oppressed.

What has become of the $3billion JTF option today? The answer is instructive, costs in future will be an exponential multiple if the situation is handled badly. Bigoted minds, not the SS are Nigeria's problem.

Common sense is always cheaper than anything bigotry can produce. Lets harness it. Give your voice to true federalism.

I have stated it enough times that our problems are due to ethnic bigotry, lack of justive and love, and a proclivity to life as parasites. The SS feels the pain of being the host to parasites and is being sucked dry, dude go back home and advice your folk that SS people are tired and angry.

Now you are mouthy, what will you do if we pack up and leave? Petrol only? How about gas? How about diesel? How about kerosene? How about aviation fuel?
Those questions are for the oil sector only, we haven't even begun speaking about fertiliser etc etc. Every aspect of life and production in Nigeria is subsidised by oil revenues.
What aid would we be seeking from the UN? Like, at present, most of the federal monies don't necessarily reach the people anyway. In my own village, most of the nice buildings/property there is built by rich folk who work in Lagos/Abuja/SS/Europe/US.

Honestly, I think we'd be just fine; we'd be forced to manage resources properly and develop a new source of revenue. Like I said earlier, access to international capital markets to me is a lot more intriguing a proposition than the piddling oil wealth we get from the FG.

But of course the best case scenario is to add whatever oil derivations we are getting to proper management rather than just proper management alone.

Hrm, does anyone have the amount of FG allocations given to each state handy and listed somewhere? It would be interesting to see. . . I imagine that the actual cash that say my Ekiti State gets is probably on the order of like 10 or 15 cents per citizen per day. Piddling amount of money like that makes no real difference.
Dude, you really need to understand how Nigerian life is subsidised by oil revenues, that is aside from the money that runs states and LG's. I wish it was the simplistic scenario you painted above, we would have able to institute true federalism tomorrow, sadly your picture is far from the real World.

I totally disagree

The ND is a minority in all respects. The country cannot be bugged down my attending to every concerns/agitations of every minority. They should just keep quiet and enjoy what they currently enjoy. Of they push their luck too far, they'd only have themselves to blame.
Has it suddenly shifted from SS to ND now?

Dude, it is Nigeria that is pushing her luck. People can only be pushed so far.
Please enlighten me on what your state and LG would do if Abuja handouts dried up tomorrow, because the SS decides enough is enough? Will you not switch to begging for aid at the UN? @ beaf, I have noticed with keen interest your posts over many burning issues in the polity and what I can point it down to is that there is a disillusion beclouding your sense of reasoning that only MINERAL RESOURCES MAKES A NATION GREAT. That also dominates the mind of most Nigerians and until we see things differently, and learn from our present state, we cannot move forward even if all regions have autonomy today. UK today is not as richly blessed like Nigeria (mineral resources wise) but you will agree with me that the quality of life by the common citizens cannot be compared with our life in Nigeria where all we boast on is our oil, good weather, good agricultural land yet suffering in the midst of plenty.

Lagos today has problems (myriads of them) but a ssytem is evolving gradually showing what intellectual capacity can do to a nation. UK, USA, Japan, China et al  are not as blessed in terms of mineral resources like Nigeria and many Arabs nations but the world Economy today is being controlled by some of them whereas the rich oil nations have not fared well like these nations.

Honest questions, apart from Rotimi Amaechi (and probably Duke) of rivers state, mention any other past or present Governors in the SS that has truly  made any intentional efforts to leave a good heritage in the region including Jonathan. Ibori, Uduaghan, Alaimesia, Odili, Igbinedion etc have they truly served you at least to the best of their ability that the law permits them? Tinubu was a "Crook" but he fought against oppression since NADECO days, risked his life, used his resources b4 he became gov (a former expatriate with Exon Mobil- Texas) and also stood against lawlessness against OBJ during his 8 yrs tenure. He is selfish just like every human, but how long he can hold Lagos captive depends on how long the people allows.

Beafm stop your bragging, Let us all look for ways to move this nation forward. It is not mineral resources that makes a nation great.
I am not bragging my friend. The situation on the ground is not a fairy tale, is it? It is funny the way you fellows attack those who tell you the truth in black and white.
The Ibori's and co you mention are products of Nigeria and her systems to enslave minorities. Can you argue otherwise?

You make the argument for intellectual resources in Nigeria. Does our parasitic economy allow for such? Where in the whole World have you heard that central govt gives money to states and LG's. I laugh in a thousand languages.

Dude, rebuke fstranger who made the foolish mistake of implying that minority rights in the SS can be trampled at will without consequences. I don't want to believe you too were blinded by the usual Nigerian backward calculations  to see that: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-577593.0.html#msg7443938

Take it like a wise man or leave it. The SS is Nigeria, treat the place right, guarantee our human rights and justice and we will all be happy.
It depends, there are a variety of sources. Bank accounts of citizens, loans, existing Nigerian federal reserves could all be used to prosecute a war. Overall, I don't think finding cash would be too much of a problem.
Federal reserves? We'll get our allies to lock em up. In the event we fail to achieve that, how will you guys power your doomed economy? In fact, there will be a lot of internal stress in what will be left of Nigeria. All of una will start fighting yourselves for the biggest slice of the federal reserves.
So you'd be able to stop the pipelines and divert the supply into cash? So yes, if you could monetize the 2 million barrels produced a day, sure, life would be pretty good for you. But how will whoever buys it from you get out of the country?  grin After all, there is a navy to blockade and impound any such oil.
Is it the same navy that currently "blockades" oil sales on the high sea's? Thats laughable. . . .Just a tiny question; are they going to be blockading US oil tankers?
Again, how long do you think the navy will last without oil money in a war situation? 4 days, 5 days?

This I doubt. What %age of the oil produced by Nigeria is a reasonable estimate of that lost to oil bunkering or money given to the militants by their governors. . . let's say 1%? 20K barrels a day is only $1.6 million. That can be easily matched by any ethnic group who decides to go to war.
It wouldn't be militants waged against you, but a sovereign state. Where do the questions of Nigerian governors or bunkering feature in such a scenario? Dude, we will simply be trading 100% of our oil and zero will go to Nigeria. Pray fervently that that day does not come, because it will become impossible to point fingers at the North as home to almajiri's, everyone will become one. The SS is Nigeria, stick that in your mind.

Engage with what is said above and you will realise why we laugh in the face of the IBB's, Atiku's and Ciroma's of Nigeria. You can have the clowns.
Eh, the opposite would be true, imo. Time is not your friend. Time allows other ethnic groups to convert assets into equipment for prosecuting warfare. Time means more recruits, more training, whittling away at the slim head start you have.
Eh, fine, you spend the money you get on weapons, others do not. But once we start buying weapons too, those advantages go away. . .
Mercenaries are expensive and were pretty much useless in the Nigerian civil war. I don't see any reason for them to suddenly become useful in a hypothetical new war. I'd be very happy if my enemy spends valuable resources on expensive mercenaries to prosecute a war in Nigeria. Paying $200k/year to a mercenary. . . that same amount of money will likely get you 100 Nigerians smiley
Fantasies. You cannot talk about arming a hundred Nigerians when you have no economy, instead you will be seriously devoting time to getting international aid. The begging trips will switch from Abuja to the UN to prevent a record humanitarian catastrophe. The SS is Nigeria, stick that in your mind.
The US doesn't like the militants, dude. I don't think they like the Delta either. Especially if that memo by the Shell woman is how the US thinks about things. My guess is that rather than supporting the militants, they'd supply weapons to help crush them. The US likes the status quo in Nigeria and overall probably isn't interested in seeing it changed. This is my guess, at least.
When did Shell women begin working for the US govt? What you should read is the rehearsed US miltary actions toward a breaking up Nigeria; the 2015 scenario. Go dig up the document at the AFRICOM website; you will find that the US really doesn't give a crap about anything outside the SS.

I will correct you again, if the SS declares sovereignty, you wouldn't be facing militants, but the full might of a nation. More than that, the question of support for militants will be non-existent, rather it would be support for a long suffering people who inhabit the Worlds most poluted oil producing area and the Worlds most polluted wetlands, who were enslaved to oil the corrupt Nigerian economy.

This is really shameful, if our Government is so inept they should allow somebody who knows how to do their to rule. I am really sad about this development.
Just to re-emphasise, we will soon be seeing US bombing attacks in Northern Nigeria. FBI involvement is quite minor compared to that, so lets save our tears.
All Islamic terrorist actions are ultimately targetted at the US, therefore they are legitimately interested in the increasingly ugly events in Northern Nigeria.

My own point is that it isn't as if other groups are stockpiling weapons seriously or preparing for warfare. So any headstart the ND has could be negated quite rapidly.
Where exactly will others get the money to negate the SS? Especially if oil piplines are finished off, while the supply is diverted?
The SS can spend billions at short notice, and it can do that everyday. The first week or so would be the most painful for the SS if war breaks out, but after that, it would be a crushing defeat for anyone with a relatively primitive army that foolishly attacks us. If you follow the news carefully, you will also find that militants in the SS are quite conversant and comfortable with high tech warfare, regularly employing GPS, UAV's etc. This is aside from the fact that we have the ready cash to employ the baddest mecenaries complete with their ammo from places like SA, Namibia and Angola; call that an angry standing army at a weeks notice.
