Dede1:To you, it is all about oil. To we who hail from there, it is about geographical identity. Saying the Niger Delta does not exist is at par with saying things like, "Lagos does not exist," or "Anambra does not exist." It is highly insulting. I'm at a loss that you cannot see the trap you have fallen into, so badly that you are now proudly camped with strange bedfellows. |
alj harem:In that case, you must now agree you are a donkey who has been making foolish arguments. Next time the bell rings, make sure you go to school. |
alj harem:Its now confirmed that you are a fool. Next! |
What is so difficult about copying and pasting the puzzle here? I get security warnings from that link and am losing interest. |
alj harem:Your foolishness knows no bounds, are you bluetooth? You open your mouth to mention rubbish and lies about Warri and Sapele being in some mythical "Yoruba kingdom" (amongst other deafeningly foolish assertions). . . and you think you should be taken seriously? |
alj harem:What a load of crap! Everything you have written is either absolutely false, ignorant or foolish assumption. It only goes to prove my point that people arguing about the existence of the Niger Delta are thoroughly ignorant and loud. |
Dede1:Yeah, when the first oil rigs were put down, it miraculously created a delta. |
Dede1:I don't know where you got your definition of confluence from, but it is faulty. In geography, a confluence is the meeting of two or more bodies of water. The opposite of a watershed, it usually refers to the point where a tributary joins a more major river, called the mainstem, when that major river is also the highest order stream in the drainage basin. It is also used in vernacular language as the source (river or stream)—headwaters where two streams meet to become a river of a new name, such as the Los Angeles River at its Canoga Park confluence—headwaters.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confluence The above is a proper definition of confluence. The Benue is a tributary of the Niger, if you wrote otherwise in a geography exam, you would fail. |
Dede1:River Benue is a tributary of the Niger. It is a tributary, because the Niger is bigger, that is elementary geography. The body of water that flows southward is called River Niger and it has been so for centuries and it has been so for logical reasons. If you are proposing a name change, it is a different concept to claiming that the Niger Delta does not exist. |
Coming from another reasonable adult !
Yeah, because River Benue flows in the South. . . Daft. |
Bla bla. . .instead of you to tell me the history and origin of ND,you are here talking rubbish.who cares what you think ? Most other persons have also claimed that ND was a 21st century thing.I want to history not these useless turn-table stories you are giving me !
History and origin of the ND? Are you possessed by the thinking faculties of a crab? What sort of stup!d question is that? Since you claim to be from Lagos, can you tell me what you would think of an adult Nigerian who doubts the existence of Lagos Lagoon? Boy! You really are dippy! Do you eat wood or something? God! How can a grown man be this daft. Is it possible? |
Abagworo:Fake Niger Deltans are those from place that have no reason to be associated with River Niger (the most glaring example is Ondo state). I don't see how Igbo's from Delta and Rivers can be called fake. Obasanjo created a ridiculous contraption that true Niger Deltans (core Niger Deltans if you like) rebel against. It was done to weaken the agitation of ND folk against human rights abuse in govts quest for revenue. Obasanjo also carried out the Odi massacre. |
igbo boy:That is the bluetooths entire aim. I have already broven that he is a tribalistic and alarmingly ignorant on these pages. But there is precious little to expect from someone who thinks the Kingdom of Brass in Bayelsa referrs to art in Benin!!!!!! Damn!! If only people like bluetooth knew how insulting their words were, they would stay schtum. Like becomerich, he believes Abacha created the ND! Some people should be banned from the internet for expressing shocking degree's of stup!dity. I have already quoted 19th century books that mentioned "Niger Delta", because bluetooths daftness made him claim that there was no reference to anything like Niger Delta until 10 years ago (I wonder if he went to school? What shocks me most, is that an adults powers of reasoning can be so shambolic that he actually thinks a human could have created the Niger Delta. How retarded is that? |
becomrich4:Damn! Abeg, if anybody here is from becomerich's village they should come and take care of him o! Winshes don tie di guy down! ![]() . . ."World economy may crash!" Na wa o! |
^ Dude, my apologies, you are indeed correct. I've produced other links and some quotes since then.
Was it not the same Benin that you refused to recognised as part of ND state that was famous for BRASS art ?
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! . . .Surely, it can't be this bad?! Chai! Your ignorance has finally come to camp! Brass is a place in Bayelsa, it has a very important place in the history of Nigeria (which you are ignorant off). Damn! Lol @ "brass art!" Laf go kill man pikin o! |
@Bluetooth These oyibo people are terrible o! Can you imagine them writing about the Niger Delta in 1866?! Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1866?!! ![]() http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=4vEHAAAAQAAJ&pg=RA2-PA49&dq=Berlin+Conference+Niger+River+delta&hl=en&ei=AanUTOm2B42EhQexvYHYBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CEMQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=Berlin%20Conference%20Niger%20River%20delta&f=false |
That is always your problem.Anytime you can't have it your way,you resort to insults.I asked you serious questions but you directed the question to google and came up with a book ! ![]() can't you just tell me ND was founded by so so person and in the year so and so.at atleast this is in a simpler form for you to understand .yoruba ,ibo ,Benin,Junkum,Nupe,Igala and so may others have their histories, can't you give ND history ? I'm not asking for books for God sake !
Enh?!!! Books have a way of disgracing tribalistic motorpark touts that seek to denigrate others! Books! Na wa for books sha!!! ![]() Imagine another oyibo talking of Niger Delta in 1965! Damn! "Brass was formerly one of the most active trading towns in the Niger delta. The famous Akassa war (January, 1895)". . . - The Gold Coast, Britain and the Netherlands 1850 – 1874 Buy it here; http://afraf.oxfordjournals.org/content/64/254/62.extract |
Abi o.Is it today that oil producing states are having an umbrella body to properly recognise them ? Why is the case of ND generating problems ? It's all about oil to give more recognition to some oil producing states over another.I learnt bayelsa is the highest producing state after jonathan upped its daily production, that means more money for the ijaw.na so i hear ooo
Tribalist donkeys always roll with motorpark rumours. This book was published in 1970, Nigeria: background to nationalism By James S. Coleman. For some reason (maybe na jass), the man (oyibo for dat matter) uses the term, "Niger Delta!" In 1970! Na wa o! Why? ![]() http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=ZOgdDZlJqG8C&pg=PA42&lpg=PA42&dq=Niger+Delta+protectorate+berlin&source=bl&ots=YHoA5c9kF3&sig=qXnL2R3dkqXYYYFiDOVg8GVrpCw&hl=en&ei=X5_UTIbyDtKH4QbYtKXrBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CC8Q6AEwBTgK#v=onepage&q=Niger%20Delta%20protectorate%20berlin&f=false |
sometimes i wondered if you pass through the wall of the university with the way you reason.anyways i'm not like you cuz i appreciate sapeleguy's contribution than yours.its always easy to really know a knowledgeable person not a sentimental human-being like you.Fyi,the berlin conference only gave an official recognition to european colonization of Africa and how does that answer the questions i asked you?
Dude, don't wonder about anybodys education, when yours is made up of motorpark rumours. I asked you to read about the Berlin Conference. You will find out that the most important trade item at that time was oil palm produce (something the Niger Delta was famous for). When you read about the Berlin Conference, you will learn about the various protectorates, what they were called and what areas they covered. Of course, you will also come across "Niger Delta." Getting an education beats foolish ranting anyday. |
krendo:If you can't help yourself, I pity you. |
who's talking geography here ? I'm talking about history and you are here tripping. Can you please tell me where in the history of pre-colonial Nigeria where reference was made to Niger delta as a source of contribution to Nigeria development. We learned about warri, asaba existence dating back as 3000 BC.can you tell us when ND was discovered ? And don't try to discard me this time around cuz I still maintain my stand that the political ND we know as at date is a 21st century fraud !
Learn about the Conference of Berlin and the scramble for Africa; the term, Niger Delta, has been in use for centuries. Defending ignorance is as bad as defending foolishness: http://courses.wcupa.edu/jones/his312/lectures/ber-cong.htm Your arguments are sounding really foolish. |
A picture of Abacha's jass man creating Niger Delta! ![]() https://www.impactlab.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/witchdoctor-35.jpg |
SapeleGuy:Seriously! Sometimes, I almost question the sanity of some NLers, imagine educated people saying there was no Niger Delta before Abacha's time?! Maybe we just weren't aware when Abacha (or whoevers) dredgers and diggers were creating all the rivers that make up the Niger Delta. |
Trust me. any campaign of such will have made Abacha deployed the whole Nigerian Army to the region and wipe off you guys .your people had to wait for democrazie to push such propaganda.
Dude, you are talking rubbish. The question is whether there is a Niger Delta or not. What has that got to do with Abacha? Is Abacha your geography teacher? Scary! I would have thought any adult Nigerian person would simply confirm by checking their maps or digging up their old primary school books (if they are educated). |
becomrich4:Have you been drinking again? Gallup is from the US. . . .Eeerrrr becomerich, US means America; just so you learn a new thing. |
becomrich4:Dude, why don't you visit a native doctor that can give you charms to make you VANISH for real? ![]() |
appletango:Damn! Has texazzpete told you who he is voting for? He has simply told you to go and vote (for Jonathan, Buhari, IBB etc). Why do Nigerians assume so many things (even educated ones)? Maybe we should create a thread on that, because it is a very serious issue. It can be painful trying to reason with some people. |
[s]What makes ND ? Is it the topography, the oil, agitation for resource control or the monthly federal allocation ? like i said, the ND thing started during the obj regime by some people who only wanted to make some oil-producing areas more important than others and such happens to be the ijaw areas.[/s]Why did we not hear of ND during Abacha regime ?
Because of ignorance. |
naijaking1:I don't know of any Niger Delta created by Ijaw people (except in la-la land). The only person that can be accused of creating another version of the Niger Delta other than that supported by geography is Obasanjo, or did Ijaws create River Niger too? I grew up in the Niger Delta, was taught about it in school and it has always been very real to me. Every book I have read places Warri in the Niger Delta, maybe you people just don't read books. I wonder if you contest whether your state and village exist, or if they were created by almighty Ijaws too? Tribal supremacists never know when their words cross the line. |
mbulela:So you think the govt must address the Niger Delta militancy before it addresses Niger Delta issues? Dude, thats weird. I don't think you've read how foreigners view the human rights issues in the Niger Delta, it is a massive disgrace on Nigeria. Throughout the BP oil leak in the US, their newsrooms kept referring to Nigeria and the unbelievably polluted state of the ND. But, hey! There are glaring reasons why Nigeria is so backward; some would proffer corruption, others tribalism or a mixture of both - a factor most miss though, is the level of wickedness on the Nigerian street. |
The Nd concept is nothing but a fraud.if not, what makes delta state more Nd than Edo state ? Because ijaw no plenty for edo abi ?
I would have said, you mean Obasanjo's ND concept is a fraud, but you clearly have no concept of what the Niger Delta is. To answer your question about what makes Delta state more ND than Edo? Duh! The very name "Delta state" should tell you! Next time, look at your map. |
