The thing is a disgrace.
Religious name my foot! Why must it be the religions of those who conquered us. Why not Hare Krishna names?
The foreign name thing is a sign of deep loss of identity (colonial mentality). It is cutural trauma.

Quite a few of my oyinbo friends have asked me about it; I mean, really quizzically. I guess because they know it isn't normal.

I dropped my ridiculous oyinbo name as a teenager and now if any oyimbo can't pronounce my name; at least let them bloody try.
When Japanese man no send person before e call im moto "mitsubuishi". When McNamara comes to Nigeria, does he become Imasuen?

The same way some don't teach their kids their mother tongue. Instead they learn English; but a language is a language, right? It is sad.

You see now? You are attracting local boys like walakolobo grin

The best ways to attract "local boys" are:

[li]Chew guguru and epa in the office[/li]

Dreamweaver supports asp that I'm sure of, thanks for d advice guys, guess its visual studio 2008 all the way cheesy
Yes Dreamweaver supports ASP. But, I hope you aren't confusing ASP and ASP.NET (both are way different).
ASP is more like PHP (scripting frameworks) while ASP.NET is more like java only much simpler and more powerful for ecommerce and science.

I only have regular corn flour here (not from african shop) so I guess it won't have this special sour taste, Does it come from fermentation?
No, it isn't custard at all. You are right akanmu is fermented corn flour, so normal flour won't cut it.
I've forgoten exactly how its made, but should be able to get back to you on that.

I might be able to do something that my husband will like though wink

p.s.: what is the sheokoyokoto ? grin
Sheokoyokoto is as old as time.
It is a non-lethal weapon of last resort, primarily employed to deliver a pre-emptive and unshakable blow to ones love rivals.
A concoction of herbs and other sweetnesses that knock seven senses out of your man; leaving you as the drooling focus of his attentions, season in - season out.
It does not harm your foes, but will rattle your beloveds eyes back to front. grin

It is the meanest love portion.

You cannot root out corruption by being uncouth. You cannot build a country by being negative.

My point is you are making all Nigerians sound like fools. There are more civilised ways to make changes than hurling insults like cowards.
The same fools screaming yarafool (like they have no fathers) are the same people who hurl their neighbour down because they can't believe the neighbour really is doing something positive.

Continue wishing yourselves bad luck; you'll not look too clever to foreigners.

Dreamweaver is a toy. Stick with Visual Studio.
Visual Studio 2008 is better than Visual Studio 2005
Visual Studio 2005 is better than Visual Studio 2003
All are better than Dreamweaver.
Will zimbabweans countinue to live in past glory? Will the ancient heroics of mugabe put food on the table??
Clearly mugabe was a hero and secured independence but after 28 years what has he done? Zimbabweans are dying, hungry, human rights activits been detained and killed and you're making noise about imperialists.
Is it imperialists that'll plant food for your people? Is it their job to maintain your health sector?

Mugabe clearly got it wrong. If you gonna do land redistribution make sure the beneficiaries are capable of maintaining such large scale commercial agriculture. The whites were the main producers of zimbabwe's food exports for many years, hastily replacing them with inexperienced and inefficient blacks is sure to cause problems. A more or less transitional kind of thing would have been perfect.

Its pretty obvious mugabe has failed. Blaming everything on the west is just lazy and pathetically stupid.
There is a single brutal reality. Every country needs access to dollars to trade; it is the international currency. Any country without access to the dollar is simply f.ucked.
Zimbabwe has had so many sanctions lobbed their way specifically to cut off dollar access. Result? Zimbabwe is f.ucked, same way as any country that isn't allowed to trade will be.
. . .And you're mentioning Akanmu and garri for drinking? Kai! Is your load near the door?
My dear, please post an article asking how to prepare sheokoyokoto; you need that badly Grin

eheh, thanks, i can cook a few things already (but will take your advuce on the sheokoyokoto  grin).

About the garri for drinking well the deal is : just mix it with water/milk/sugar and drink, right?

As for the akamu my hubby says it's made of corn flour, but that's all i got from him,  the thing is I am sure that I will be able to cook it but i don't even know what it is   undecided
Yes its corn flour. You should be able to find it in African shops (I must say, I've never come across it in the UK). I also think you'll have better luck in your search if you call it pap or ogi.
You prepare and serve it exactly the way custard is prepared and served (both being cornflower).

Akanmu can be served with any of stewed beans, moin moin or akara (really depends on where your husband is from or your/his taste).

Akanmu is off-white with a slightly sour taste and has about the same consistency as custard.
Although everyone eats it, akanmu is used as a filling food by the poor. . . Could be the reason why your husband passes over the details.

ps. Tell us the "effects" of sheokoyokoto on your poor hubby when you've tried it grin

Good luck wink

To deji2005- it's easier said than done, i'm not saying it's wrong anything can happen but b4 my parents how can i bring someone for example that does not know how to speak english well?

To beaf- i don't understand what u mean y supplying my number around, i neva mentioned such. i only said, they have guts to toast me and all, and knowing my kind of nature sometimes i could smile and say no, sometimes i just take it of course, i throw it away when no interested.

To mama gee- u don't know me so don't say what u don't know or r u poor?

To posakosa- I do go out to anywhere, everywhere, what i was really describing was like taking a walk for example with friends, strolling not necessarily social outing.

To Kingsleyinfo- i'm not judging anyone but i gave an example easier said than done, how does it feel especially me being the female/woman, different for a man, bring a guy to my parent that seems local or cannot speak english well or something like that?

To cold- don't make me laugh

To justkunmi- thanks, i know it's not pride but i also want to know my worth.

To bluespice- thanks for clarifying
I don't want to be mean but, you can't even use the forum. What you've written is difficult to read and was difficult to write.
Damn! Guy's notice these things and the high class ones might think you're bush.

davidif: By the way, the CIA isn't that ubiquitous, you people give them waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much credit for such an incompetent organization. Imagine this guys didn't even have anybody on the ground in Iraq before they even invaded, they were relying on some other intelligence agencies. During the Gulf war, Saddam had built a nuclear facility to build nuclear weapons and they missed it totally. They failed to predict the insurrection and the ensuing chaos in Iran in 1979, this was something right under there very noses and you guys are looking at them as if they are all omnipresent, ye ye people.
Isn't this made up rubbish?

When foreigners commit crimes in Nigeria, we are very happy to jail them. The only exceptions are when their embassies fight for them because dem know say for kirikiri khaki no be leda.

If you define the crime, you define and excecute the punishment; otherwise save the one million and change the law. It isn't 9jas problem to take care of people found to be criminals by UK law. Who be fool?
Politics › Re: Uk To Build N300m Prison In Nigeria ! by Beaf: 3:50pm On Jul 09, 2009
If these guys are illegal, how can anyone say with certainty that they are Nigerian? What proof?

Let UK sort their issue's and not offload criminals on us for a miserable 1 million pounds. These folk most likely became criminals in the UK (na condition make crayfish back bend). Who be fool?

Want to do stupid things? Maybe we should accept the one milla and use it for police "rebranding", afterall those boys are very hungry.
