Culture › Re: The Itsekiris. by Beaf: 1:13am On Jul 06, 2009
What I can't understand is why the Itsekiri don't aknowledge the Oproza family from Ijaw land?

The Ijaw gave both the Urhobo and Itsekiri land, but Itsekiri's now claim Warri is their kingdom. The Itsekiri were involved in slave trade, hence they aquired a lot of (now dwindling) wealth and power over other ethnic groups. Why not tell the story of how a common thug and scoundrel Dore Numa became king of Ode Itsekiri?

Warri that has both Ijaw and Urhobo areas? An Itsekiri kingdom? Maybe we need to hear the true story of how the Itsekiri sold Urhobo's and Ijaws into slavery? The strong ties between Portugal and the Itsekiris such that one of the kings of Ode Itsekiri by the dubious name of Dom Domingos actually spent time in Portugal?

You guys ought to be ashamed. One day you will pay reparations.

"Itsekiri ( in Itsekiri (people) )
, were the first to make contact, and as a result the Itsekiri established a reputation as great traders and middlemen by supplying European manufactured goods to inland peoples in exchange for slaves and palm oil from the interior. The British colonial administration eventually broke their trade monopoly in the 1890s, however, and the, "

There are also sculptures whose decorations served as writing in the past. Unfortunately these things have been killed off with secret societies.
Writing was used by secret societies throughout Africa.

He sent the airforce, navy and tanks to kill the Niger Delta women and children who had not already been poisoned by polution.

What a "great" man - his father should have named him JTF.

Also, when you say Africans have never contributed anything to the World and other derogatory things, what sort of response do you expect? Worship? You're not even white so I could say, "oh its the genuine racist KKK".
Culture › Re: This "akata" Non-sense Is Funny: Give It Up. by Beaf: 11:10pm On Jul 05, 2009
Akata is not a derogatory word. It just means overseas.
Anyway, a lot of people are only having fun and its nothing personal when they give you a verbal punch; get a thick skin. Of course there are people who have never met an African American, but see representations of "African American" life as proudly depected by snoop dog and 50 cent all over tv.
Its ignorance on both sides.

Maybe she doesn't like you.

Oracle says:

Check the size of her pupils when you're talking to her.
Pupils are a 100% accurate babe-o-meter. They don't lie, if they grow bigger; press your luck. If they remain small; leave her to her studies.

Nigeria will only get off that list when the Niger Delta problem is settled. Check the least of corrupt countries (yes theres a separate list) and see if that tallies with this "failed state" list.
You are deceiving yourself if you think that the list is about corrupt countries. . . anyways a governor once responded with danta cola, pepsi cola to a question about what minerals there were in his state; so I'm not suprised at the low levels of reasoning some are stooping to, they could actually become "governors" someday.

Just for the record, I'm not from a failed state and don't believe any stupid conspiratorial list.

After that nobody will dream of using heavy armour, aircraft and warships against small communities.

It is foolish talk like this that will lead to war.

Delta people don't joke; remember the Okar coup when so called majority groups were quaking? Maybe your people are cowards that can't stand for their rights, but we from the Delta will.

I'm all for resolution but there are limits. We produce 90+ % of federal revenues and reap only death and poverty? We will show fools like you that slavery ended long ago.

But I'm quite new here, so I might be totally wrong.

Providing michelin89 with a forum to moderate keeps her from skemishes and internecene war? grin

The Delta area provides more than 90% of federal revenue and so can easily. . .
Think about that.

If you feel you have a beef with me for any reason, and you say you're a man, then grow some balls and face me squarely instead of acting in this petty and dumb manner.

Otherwise shut up.

I've explained and re-explained myself countless times on this thread. Put a sock in it for crying out loud.

Cant stand whiners.

If you have nothing solid to contribute then get lost. I'm not Oprah- take your issues somewhere else. Go to blackvoices and tell them Oprah is not great.
Hmmmmm! . . .mummy I'm scared, I'm quacking and sobbing, she's getting rude and abusive because she has no logic to offer.
I'll repeat, the topic is about great black people. Names that inspire reverence like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther were mentioned. Instead of arguing for any of the names mentioned, you took so much trouble to gather information on men who were unknown yesterday, who are unknown today and who will be unknown tomorrow - that is an insult where people like Mandela and King are mentioned.

There are only three reasons to respond to names like Mandela or King with such farcical latitude:
1. You did not understand the topic (simple as it was - fashion section might be the remedy)
2. You either have no respect for Mandela or King or for yourself
3. You deliberately set out to derail the topic

Now get on your bike

If you think the Niger Delta crisis cannot blossom into ful scale war, THINK AGAIN!

This is the same way 9ja has been sleep walking from crisis to deeper crisis. Nigeria is on the least of failed states because of the Niger Delta crisis. . . Aircraft, warships and heavy amour were employed in the latest skemishes; these things aren't toys. What more proof do we need?

The only way forward for 9ja is to hold a national conference to establish the contract between citizen and state. Right now there is now contract so madness reigns.

All I'm saying is the topic is about the greatest black person. It isn't about how you miss-spend your time as Oprahs unwanted defender.
