You know why I asked for an estimate? To show you that the 'few' and 'majority' you've been talking about is an offshoot of limited experiences.

Do you know that some persons on this NL call some light-skinned persons albinos? Do you think that's a compliment? If you doubt me, run a Nairaland search on albino. Some others accuse anyone that's very light-skinned of being a "low-esteem bleacher". Yet when one tries to remember persons obsessed with skin colour, it's easy to mention Mr Cork as anti-darkskin. Why? He's louder than most.

What's more, when something touches us personally it's easier to notice and remember it. I guess you've gotten negative vibes about your complexion and you think light-skinned persons are always on the greener side of the comments fence.
I'm actually one of the black skinned ladies who get compliments on their skin. My argument is not based on emotion

On this forum, only one person so far has been referred to by people as an albino because of his skin color. Yes, sometimes an extremely fair person is accused of bleaching. What I make of that, story for another day. Nevertheless, most times, smth negative about that person is involved.

Omotola and Jenevive picture was once uploaded on this forum and majority went for Omotola. A handful, Jenevive and few seem indifferent about the skin color. A thread asking guys to chose between fair skinned and dark sinned lady once came up and the same thing still played out. For me, Mrco.rk does not count in this issue.

I'd use my people as an example. You hear majority of them saying things like 'Omo Pupa' fair skinned and it's often in admiration while when they say this; 'Omo dudu' the chances that it's said in admiration or insult is 50:50.
It's no secret which skin complexion is favoured by most of the South Easterners.

I agree that not everyone is guilty of this. Some even do it unconsciously...I'm not talking from limited experience. Present a man with a beautiful fair skinned and a beautiful dark skinned lady...I can be my khaki that he would go for the light skinned.

give me a number estimate. How many Nigerians have you met that condemned dark skin as ugly?
You got it all wrong.
Beamborla:
The OP is only trying to make a point.
People would excuse an ugly fair lady for her skin color.
'She no fine but she's fair in complexion'...'Na only her skin complexion dey help her'.
But if you are dark and ugly, you've committed an unpardonable crime...'she no fine, she still come black join'
Yet these same set of people don't waste time when it comes to chantting black is beautiful.
The ugliness of a fair lady is always detached from her skin color while for a dark lady, well, it's just one of her ugliness
This is way different from your interpretation.
The point is, a dark skinned lady often come second to a fair skinned lady. While a fair skin could earn a pass mark even if the lady is facially plain, it's not so far a dark skinned lady... Comments like 'she no fine but I like her dark skin is hard to come by'

Foreign AffairsRe: Women Kneeling Before A White Man In Uganda. Photo Sparks Outrage by Beamborla(f): 9:47pm On Aug 15, 2016
We have no idea how the kneeling came out. We shouldn't be too quick to judge...

BTW
Those pointing to this as inferiority complex and slavery without knowing what actually transpired are the ones still suffering colonization. How comes that was the message y'all got from the picture?

Right there is a fellow black man seated on a chair while black women are kneeling beside him in the presence of oyibo...this, to me, is more disturbing.

Did you not hear what she just said about our ladies?
Did you call her hopeless?
Anyway, I don't have time to join issues with you. But from what you wrote, I just remembered another point about our Yoruba ladies- They like cursing a lot.
Chai... Have you tried haggling with a Yoruba (woman) seller in the market before? If you two fail to agree with price, and you buy elsewhere; If she ever sights you, she will rain curses on you as if you stole from her.

PS: Apologies if my words hurt you, I can dig up dirty facts when I want to prove a point. Besides this is naira land, and these fights make it the place to be. I've got a lot of Yoruba besties, but at least here we use different identities. Its fun. One love sis
I just weak for your matter.

Mature. Well done. Well said.

We once escorted my cousin to go and marry this nice Yoruba lady. We took all those requirements as fun, infact when they asked us to prostrate, see how we quickly hit the floor face down, but to stand up nko we refused. We were lying face down for almost 30 minutes and guests started getting angry. We even told them through the alaga that they had to pay for us to get up.

Personally I see no reason to castigate other cultures, that is the real meaning of unity in diversity.

I am igbo and in my place, bride price is still 25 guineas.......N20. 25k.

All my cousins were given out at that price and all the women we married from around , we paid same amount
I just don't like it when ladies become the victims of tribal wars...very annoying. sad angry

How you conviently called over a million fellow ladies who have done you no wrong 'whores' because some dumb d!ck had access to the internet is beyond me.

Lol... Ask Yoruba dudes marrying Igbo women, and they will educate you. With an Igbo woman, you have no fear of promiscuity that is rampant with Yoruba women. Plus Yoruba girls can't cook. If you've ever eaten an Igbo woman's food, you will see the difference. I went for a camping program somewhere in the North, and I saw how people queue in Igbo restaurants as against other tribes.

Also Yoruba girls are dirty, trust me, I've seen them. If you ever try to visit their rooms, you will vomit.

Most importantly, Yoruba girls are ugly, Have you ever seen a Yoruba girl as miss Nigeria or MBGN, why will I marry a woman that is not presentable among my folks. Even some of their men are more good looking than the ladies.
my 2cent though
I won't insult Ibo ladies just to get back at you. They shouldn't take the heat because you choose to spew trash. Engaging in a meaningful argument would be futile as well.

Sighs* you are hopeless.
