LinkedIn was thrown into a frenzy as Engr. Emmanuel Eno, MNSE posted on the topic "Addressing the Undervaluation of JOBS in Nigeria" CASE 1 "Electrical Engineer - Job Summary: The Electrical engineers will design, develop and maintain electrical systems for buildings, transport systems, and power distribution networks. He will work in and across many industries, such as construction, transport, energy (including renewables), building services, etc,. Qualification ❖ Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. ❖ He must also have knowledge of mechanical engineering. ❖ A Master's degree will be an added advantage. ❖ Registered member of COREN. ❖ At least 5 years of relevant work experience. Remuneration: N200,000 - 250,000 (depending on the level of competence)" CASE 2 - Civil Engineer - Job Summary: The Civil Engineer will design, plan, and supervise the construction of infrastructure projects such as buildings, bridges, roads, dams, pipelines, water, and sewage systems. Qualification ❖ Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required ❖ Master's degree will be an added advantage. ❖ Registered member of COREN. ❖ At least 5 years of relevant work experience. Remuneration: N200,000 - 250,000 (depending on the level of competence) WE NEED TO STOP THIS NONSENSE!!! The job descriptions, as well as the offered remuneration, are nothing short of an embarrassment and raise serious questions about the employment practices in our beloved country. As a nation that prides itself on growth and development, it is disheartening to see companies taking advantage of qualified professionals by offering meager salaries for crucial roles in infrastructure development. These roles play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Nigeria, and it is only just and fair that they are compensated accordingly. It is imperative to condemn such practices by companies that not only undermine the importance of these roles but also perpetuate a cycle of underpayment, hindering the overall growth of the engineering and construction sectors in Nigeria. I call upon all companies and HR professionals to review their recruitment policies and prioritize fair wages for all job categories. To International Companies in Nigeria especially IOCs, Nigeria, like any other nation, deserves to be treated as an equal player in the global economy. It is time for international companies to recognize and respect the local talent, expertise, and qualifications of Nigerian professionals. Paying them fair and competitive wages is not just a matter of ethics; it is a vital step towards promoting sustainable growth and prosperity in the country. For the Engineering field, The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, As the regulatory body responsible for overseeing the engineering profession in Nigeria, take swift and decisive action to address this alarming issue and the relevant labor authorities in Nigeria must intervene in this matter. Labor regulations must be enforced to protect the rights of employees and to ensure that workers in all sectors receive just remuneration for their work. |

Northerners are indeed goats on NL. Every time this presidency does, whether right or wrong they try to find ways to support without even knowing anything! In one of my MSC modules in US, there was a quote I still remember. “Impossible to control the Internet” Even USA can’t control that space but a third world country, out of every thing it’s suffering from decides to focus on Social media Wonderful! A country without light! As am typing, there is no light self |
Election marred with violence? Not one single person complains!! The foolish brits that interfered in gej elections are all toothless... Those Kogi and Bayelsa elections are a disgrace to nigeria |
