Politics › You Eliminated ESN Members To Allow Armed Fulani Kill Igbos - HURIWA Slams Buhar by BeeBeeOoh(op): 2:46pm On Sep 20, 2021
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has accused the Federal Government and the Nigerian military in the South East of collusion with armed Fulani men to attack residents of the region.

HURIWA alleged that the government is masterminding the killing of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, the security wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, saying the residents of the region are now defenceless.

In a statement issued and made available to DAILY POST on Monday, the rights group condemned the incessant kidnapping of students of the Abia State University by suspected armed Fulani, stating that the attackers “who are very likely to be taking refuge in a community at the Enugu/Okigwe Federal High Way which has become the hotbed of insurgents and a killing field of citizens of Southeastern parts of the nation”.

“The 82 division of the Nigerian Army and the military formations in Owerri, Abia State capital, and Anambra State combined their forces to go after the members of the vigilante group known as the Eastern Security Network, ESN which was established by concerned youth of the South East of Nigeria.

“Now that these vigilante members are killed and disempowered, the dreaded armed Fulani militia have returned to work in the different parts of the South Eastern region, killing, maiming, raping and kidnapping Students and the latest being the abduction of students of the Abia State University in Uturu near Okigwe which occurred few days ago.

“The incident is not the first nor is it the second time but yet the entire military forces that were mobilised to exterminate the ESN have conveniently gone to bed whilst these evil people are back at work of terrorism in Igbo heartland. We call on the governments of the South East of Nigeria to wake up from slumber and arm their respective Security vigilante to go after these armed Fulani attackers who are killing the Igbo speaking people of Nigeria”.

Politics › NASS Plots Against FG's Fresh Loans, May Halt Process by BeeBeeOoh(op):
• Lawan, Gbajabiamila under pressure to halt process

Indications have emerged that some lawmakers are poised for war with the Federal Government over plans to borrow additional monies to fund capital components of the 2021 budget.

Last Tuesday, the Senate received a formal request from President Muhammadu Buhari to consider and approve an external loan to fund projects captured under the 2018-2021 borrowing plan.

In the letter dated August 24 read at plenary by Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Buhari explained that he needed funds for projects listed in the 2018-2021 Federal Government Borrowing Plan which he hoped to finance through sovereign loans from the World Bank, French Development Agency (AFD), China-Exim Bank, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Credit Suisse Group and Standard Chartered/China Export and Credit (SINOSURE) in the total sum of $4,054,476,863.00; Euro 710,000,000. and Grant Component of $125,000,000.

He explained that the amount would be used to fund federal and states government projects cut across key sectors such as Infrastructure, health, agriculture and food security, energy, education, human capital development and COVID-19 response efforts.

It was learnt however that the fresh loan request has unsettled some lawmakers, who are worried that the country may run into troubled waters if the National Assembly doesn’t halt the fresh plan.

While some lawmakers in the ruling party said barring any last minute changes, the National Assembly, may approve the fresh loans, others said the approval may not happen if lawmakers already mounting pressure on the leadership of the National Assembly carry out their threat to frustrate the move.

Many lawmakers who spoke to Daily Sun said the lack of transparency on the part of the executive on how the billions of dollars were spent had raised a red flag.

Senate spokesman, Ajibola Basiru, told Daily Sun, that a decision would only be taken when the Senate receives the report from the Clifford Ordia-led committee on Local and Foreign Debts.

A senator from the North West, who pleaded not to be named, however, said the loan request would not be resisted as lawmakers have resigned to fate, and hardly speak up on issues pertaining to President Buhari.

He said Senate President Ahmed Lawan, would go ahead and approve any request from President Buhari with or without the approval of the entire Senate.

He wondered why the National Assembly would be subjected to constant ridicule because they want to be in the good books of the President.

He said despite the humongous loans already approved for President Buhari since 2019, the relevant National Assembly standing committees were yet to carry out appropriate oversights on projects reportedly executed with the loans.

The lawmaker said heads of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), seldom take them serious when they demand for documents or make enquiries about how the loans were utilised.

“There are over 60 committees which should ordinarily carry out oversight functions and ensure that these monies are well spent. Unknown to Nigerians, these committees are not well funded. We don’t go on regular oversight. Sometimes, when we decide to go, we rely on funding from the agencies we are supposed to oversight to buy us flight tickets and pay our hotel bills. How do you carry out a proper oversight function like that? So, this is our situation.”

Former leader of the Senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume, also expressed the displeasure of the increasing requests for loans by the executive arm of government and expeditious approval by the National Assembly.

Ndume said though borrowing was not a crime, but the thoroughness required for its approval was often not followed by the Senate and by extension, the National Assembly.

He said this has made Nigerians to be suspicious of the federal lawmakers and invariably tagged them as rubber stamp.

Politics › Ooni Of Ife: Politicians Playing Nigerians Like Ludo, They're All The Same by BeeBeeOoh(op): 9:18am On Sep 20, 2021
Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi said Nigerian politicians are the same irrespective of their parties, challenging them to start serving the people genuinely and stop taking the country for granted.

This is as he pledged to pray to his ancestors to touch political class’s heart and changed them towards loving the people.

Ooni disclosed this at his Ile-Oodua palace, Ile-Ife, before heading into seven days seclusion to commune with the gods ahead of Olojo Festival.

He said there is no difference among politicians in the country, adding that they have all cross carpet from one major political party to another to protect their interests.

“We believe in the forces of nature for nature to conspire in our favour but every other thing in our country they are all man made, the likes of security, our politicians will take credit for that, they are the ones that caused it till date. I will go again to seclusion for God to touch their heart for them to stop playing all of us like ludo.

“They should be more sensitive about people because it is one political party. They are just crisscrossing from one political party to the other in order to retain their positions. We have one political party in this country, same value, same character, same politician. But I am going to go into seclusion for God to touch their hearts for them to stop playing games with the lives of citizens of this country. It is about time for them to realize that they should serve us genuinely because we can not continue like this.

“This time around is a serious one, it is a request on behalf of the entire people, Yoruba race and by extension our dear Country Nigeria. I am going for God to touch their heart and really pray to my ancestors. We are just deceiving ourselves that they are different, they are the same. All of them have crossed to the major party but Nigeria is above them all.

“This time around it is a very sensitive one and a very serious one. First of all to thank God almighty and the spirit of our ancestors that have been guiding us thus far, God has really helped us with the pandemic issue because we won’t be able to handle it, when we compare things we have been doing with other nations. We have every course to be thankful to God.

“They said we are spiritual and it is working for us in this country, we have course to thank God Almighty, that it is not out of hands. We should’nt rest our hoax, I am going to seclusion which is the 6th. I inherited the tradition from my ancestors of thousands of years ago”, he said.

Politics › Secession Not Solution To Nigeria's Problem - Gbajabiamila, Peter Obi Says by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:07am On Sep 20, 2021
Speaker of the House of the Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, ex governor of Anambra State and vice presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and others have said secession would not address challenges facing various ethnic or region in Nigeria.

They said what every citizen needs and cares for is level playing field, justice, equity, fairness and good governance.

They spoke amidst call for secession at the 112th anniversary celebration of the Kings’ College Old Boys Association (KCOBA) over the weekend

The theme for the event was: “Unity in Diversity… Stronger Together.”

Gbajabiamila, who delivered the keynote address, declared that ongoing review of the constitution by the National Assembly would not produce a perfect constitution, stressing that “there is no such thing anywhere in the world.”

“In the House of Representatives, we are currently in the process of a substantive review of our nation’s constitution. Our objective is to deliver a constitution that more effectively organises our politics to make it more inclusive, enshrine efficient mechanisms for holding the institutions of state to account and put an end to the debilitating conflicts that continue to tear our nation apart. We would not produce a perfect constitution; no such thing has ever existed anywhere in the world. Indeed, some part of the world have unwritten constitutions. However, together we can by the choices we make and our actions use our constitution as a foundation document to give life to the people of Nigeria.”

Obi, Ribadu and the former minister of state, Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bagudu Hirse, who were the panelists, gave different views on what is threatening the unity of country.

Obi said the country cannot stay united unless there was equity and justice. According to him, Nigeria has about 250 ethic groups , which is far below that of India with over 2,000 ethnic groups and Indonesia with 1,300 ethnic groups adding that both countries were doing far better than Nigeria

“You cannot stay united when there is injustice; we cannot stay united if you don’t allow people to operate on a level playing field. If Nigeria was a productive country, our diversity could have been a source of strength but we are a sharing country’.

“Our country is not a productive country but a country of consumption and sharing. Once it is a sharing economy, it becomes difficult to be united because everybody wants to be part of the sharing,’’ he said.’

Ribadu stated that ethnic or religion has nothing to with challenges facing the country. Rather, he blamed them on individual attitudes, lack of love for each others and bad governance.

Ribadu said Nigeria is work in progress, stressing that Nigerians needs to do their best to keep the country united.

He warned Nigerians to avoid what happened in Rwanda and Somalia but rather emulate Tanzania, which he said is one of the peaceful

Hirse called on Nigerians to do aways with what would divide the country and embrace what would unite the people.

He also shared agreed with other panalists on the issue of good governance, justice, fairness and equity.

KCOBA President, Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, observed that Nigeria is experiencing the worst turbulence in its history. He stressed the need for Nigerian to come together and find solution to the problems.

He also pleaded with Gbajabiamila to sponsor a bill that would hand over King’s College to the Board of Trustees adding that government has no business managing secondary schools.

Health › Ngige Begs Resident Doctors To Reconsider Their Position, Resume Work by BeeBeeOoh(op): 12:16am On Sep 20, 2021
Chris Ngige, minister of labour and productivity, has appealed to striking resident doctors to resume work.

Speaking on Sunday during an interview on Channels Television, Ngige said the resident doctors should come for discussions after they return to work.

On August 2, the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) embarked on strike over “irregular payment of salaries”, among other issues.

Efforts of different stakeholders, including President Muhammadu Buhari and the house of representatives, to ensure the resident doctors shelve the strike did not yield the desired result.

The labour minister said he is determined to protect the profession from being “vandalised”.

“I want to appeal to NARD for them to reconsider their position, get back to work tomorrow or next and then come back again for discussions. We have so many things to discuss,” the minister said.

“I have nephews who are resident doctors. I have three of them in the east — at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching hospital, UNTH Enugu, Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu. I have so many of them.

“I have my son — a house officer. I have my daughter who is joining housemanship in October. I have a son, God willing, who is going to graduate again in October. I cannot destroy the profession but I have to protect the profession too if it is going to be vandalised.”

It depends on the kind of lady you are dating.

I had a problem with my woman some time ago reason is because I ran out of cash which resulted me borrowing money from my manche, my woman didn't take it lightly oh. She said, why should I borrow from a friend when she has more than the money sleeping in her account and she isn't using it to do anything at that moment?. Brothers and sisters, no be small issue like this o.

She said Nnaa, if I can't help you when you're in need then why am i your lover or friend in the first place?. Mehn! I marvelled I swear.

So, e get one day I stylishly asked her to help me with 10k, babe gave me her ATM and told me to collect 20k. O boy, I no know wetin I go talk, I collected the money, kept it for 2wks, then used it to get her a very nice gown and a sexy sandals. Mind you she never mentioned about paying her back.

Then on 21st April which is my birthday, babe said that I should prepare that she wanna take me out and I thought it's just normal taking out o, no be small thing. Babe took me to Onitsha mall, she bought a birthday cake and wine for me, we entered one shop there A**.ng(if you know OSHA mall, you'll know this shop), babe said, Nnaa, take whatever you like, at first, I thought she was joking but she isn't.

Brother and sisters on NL, this babe got my surprise surprised, I took 2 Pakistani jeans(a trouser and a short) which cost more than 20k, took 2 T-shirts which is roughly 15k, babe wanna buy pams that is more than 10k for me I rejected because she don over spend jare, I was just smiling sheepishly, in fact, my legs no fit carry me at that moment. I've never experienced such in my life before. At some point, I begin to wonder if this is truly a naija babe because I never expererit.

That's why I always laugh whenever my NL goons keep on bashing our naija babes, but me I dey always ask God to bless Nigerian girls who doesn't see relationship as a meal ticket or a one way street or a poverty alleviation scheme. Relationship ought to be a two way street, you rub my back, I rub my back that's it.
