Pls ask your husband to confirm the limit on his card. Some banks reduced spending limits to $500 per month a few weeks ago. It might be the reason why payment is declined. Alternatively he might want to use a domiciliary account card to make payment. solaek: |

Kindly note that it is not true o, Dubai has no age restriction for visas. Nigerians can get their visas as before. if you are in doubt, kindly call Dubai Immigrations on +97143139999 to enquire. better yet, call Emirates Airlines; they would ordinarily know since they belong to the govt of dubai and they say they arent aware of any such age restrictions. 2 Likes |

Belated Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays, everybody. Kind assistance required. I wish to sponsor my 62 yr old mother inlaw to visit her master's student son in manchester come April. She was a business woman but has been inactive since she turned 60. Retirement you could call it. Her retiree husband has other wives so sponsoring her isnt a priority of his. my questions are below: 1. Does she need any letter of consent or so, from her husband? 2. Will her son in Univ of Salford (on PTDF scholarship) need to write a covering letter attaching his school ID etc, in support of her application? 3. Since i intend to cover all expenses, will she need to attach her bank statement to the application? 4. Outside of my bank statement, assets papers, employment details and a covering letter, do i need to attach any other thing? 5. Are there things i am missing outside of those above? She has lived in the US in the past (has an american first born sef) and last visited US and UK 11 yrs ago. Her most recent trips were to Dubai and China for business. Kindly assist in filling in any gap i am not noticing in the application. Thanks and Happy New Year in advance. |

What are you going for? Training? Conference? Interview etc? Are you sponsoring yourself or being sponsored? By an organisation or an individual? Will they cover all expenses or some? will you go alone or accompanied? what documents were you sent by the organising entity? Sorry i am asking, but the more info you provide the easier it is for good people here to properly advise you. For me: All expeses paid by my employer- a govt agency, so no bank statement from office obviously. i attached mine cos am going with family for only a week and i had abt 650k but not for 28days like tier4. My employer gave me intro letter saying they will cover all my expenses save for my family's and i also had training invitation letter from the course organisers in the UK. i also attached employment letter, marriage cert, birth certs, landed property papers, payslips, travel insurance, etc to prove social and economic ties. easytalkwitbabs: Congratulations brother! I have been searching a student visitor visa applicant and thank God I'm able to see one now. Please Bro, what are the lists of documents you submitted? And I really wanna know about the bank statement you submitted? How much did you have in that bank account and is it 28days bank statement like that of tier 4? Please kindly help me with full details. God bless you! 1 Like |

Hello, VicJustice. i am back to tell you the outcome is a Student Visitor Visa for me and Tourist Visas for my wife and kid. Thanks for your constructive criticism, i know you meant well even as i was fairly certain you got the advice wrong. Justwise, Thanks alot as always. This is the 3rd time your advice has helped me and mine. God bless you guys here for all you do for applicants. Vicjustice: 1 Like |

Vicjustice: I have no doubt that your visa application will be refused altogether with your wife's and kid's applications for the primary logical reason that you claim to be applying for a visa on official ground, but your decision to take your whole family along (with tourist visas) would be deemed unprofessional especially as you do not seem to be having your company's approval: and because the purpose of you and your family's travel can not be specifically clasified, it will be reasonable for the ECO to refuse all of you considering that you are tempering business with pleasure, or that your intending purpose is something else. VicJustice, I completely dis agree with your primary logic and I shall explain as follows: 1. UKBA stated that only tier-4 applicants can come with "dependants", student visitor applicants' spouses/family must apply as tourists separately to come along. 2. Most university websites have detailed explanations on all possible student visas too. I found that there positions are same with UKBA's, which is: wife/child of student visitor visa applicants can't be "dependants" like tier-4 but must apply as tourist to accompany student visitor visa applicants. 3. Most colleagues have successfully used this approach to travel with their spouses/kids in the last few yrs! In fact, employees of sister agencies use the same method too, successfully. 4. The trainer (internationally known) was also contacted beforehand and with their decades of experience, advised the same thing! I partially see your point on the secondary reason of finances but I wish to tell you the following: 1. Its a 1 week course only as stated earlier. So salary/allowances don't stop due to it. 2. Since, as stated earlier, I am entitled to a return ticket from my office. My wife and child's return ticket is in the region of 180k return, for late October. Am unsure how that bankrupts me with 500k. 3. UKBA knows from experience that civil servants on sponsored foreign courses are entitled to estacodes. Especially staff of govt agencies who are reasonably well paid. These foreign currency allowances I assure you, are generous enough to cover us for a week and have good change left. 4. I could agree that the ECO might not consider the estacode as earned yet and not have it form "available funds" (even if the intro letter from office says how much it is). For that, 500k will be small for us all. 5. Kindly consider that the acct has regular inflows from the office (salaries and allowances backed by payslips and supported by bank narrations on the acct) which will make the ECO not consider just the sitting balance. Thank you. 1 Like |

Good afternoon, group. I am scheduled to attend a 1 wk course in London in October. This course is sponsored by the govt agency I work with. I am also entitled to air tickets and estacode to accommodation, feeding etc. I wish to travel with my wife and infant child. I wish to apply for a student visitor visa for myself and tourist visas for my wife and child. I have a 2yr tourist visa myself which will expire in 2015. My questions are: 1. On the form where my wife is asked "does your spouse have visa already"? Should she say yes because of my tourist visa or NO bacause I don't have student visitor visa yet? 2. My account has done inflows/outflows in excess of 5 million since January 2014 all traceable to my employers as salaries/allowances. However I currently have about 250k sitting balance and will have about 500k by month-end. Can I apply with just 500k in acct, writing in section 8 of the form that my employers will give me estacode that will supplement the 500k? Note that I will have a letter of intro saying the employers shall cover all expenses for me but I shall be responsible for my wife and child. Thanks in advance! |

Emirates is very very cool to travel o really. They are very comfortable especially their 777 ER from Lagos. Plus you have snuff to chop and drink and their movie selection is current. The downside is the almost 14 hrs it takes to gt to london. However, if you connection takes longer than 6 hrs (or so), you are giving 32 hr visa to enter Dubai, a room in their hotel+feeding(buffet). Nice experience all round I had. |

MrsBee, I was once rejected on financial grounds too.i know how bad you must feel, I did too. But after a while, I objectively looked at the refusal and I understood why. We always have to put ourselves in an ECO's shoes and ask ourselves what can disqualify this application before submission. From what I can deduct, your applications were refused for these reasons: 1. Your husband didn't apply when he had verifiable money in his account. As a banker, he should have applied maybe, around when his upfront is paid or he should have kept enough of it remaining in the account at the time of application, to cover your trip and still have some left in the account for maintenance when you get back. Applying when he had only 32k verifiable leaves questions and no answers. 2. Depositing funds around application period that are not in keeping with account history is a red flag. It is even worse as he didn't explain the source or origin of the fund. The ECO is right to think that money isn't for the trip but to window-dress the account. He should have explained in detail where the fund came from and why it is available for use for trip. For example, if it was a fixed deposit proceeds, he should have attached the expired or terminated FD certificates in support of his explanation. 3. While its not crime per se, not to have any travel history, it didn't help your cause that your first foray to obodo oyinbo is to a country that has plenty of history of Nigerians willing to do anything to leave for greener pastures. On the balance of probability, other factors like the lack of sufficient funds, money lodgements etc didn't help ECO overlook the lack of travel history. 4. For you, the money available for the trip has to reflect verifiably in your account, and it didn't. While very application is decided on h It's merit, your initial rejection might not have helped matters. It is strange that the UK will reject you first one simply because you applied alone. Plenty of spouses apply and travel alone, so there must be more to it than that. My advice would be that you guys reapply after sometime when you would have sufficient funds in the account to cover the trip and still have some left for upkeep. It helps that you plan to travel elsewhere now as it builds travel history. Any sudden lodgements around application period should be avoided or be strongly explained with supporting evidence. Please do your arithmetic so that the money in your account then, should be more than necessary or justifiable because the ECO will give you that "more than x times your stated income" speech. Kindly go through this thread as you have all the advice and information you need for a successful re-application. Justwise offered me all athe help I needed to be successful in my re-application and I am so enjoying my 2 yr multiple. Best wishes. |

I think the big issue here is the intention. If anyone intends to build-up an account for visa purposes, no one here will help him/her. This forum is for genuine people looking for assistance on UK visa not people trying to circumvent the system. That's why Nigerians have a negative image on visa applications thereby making genuine applicants to suffer undue scrutiny. Justwise, don't mind his type jor. |

Good evening all. I applied for a renewal for me and fresh tourist visa for my wife and my daughter, 3weeks ago. I got a rejection today which shocked me really. The ECO wrote " you have made available for the trip 1.2m which is about 9 times your stated monthly income. This cost is disproportionate to the benefit you would obtain as a tourist and am unsatisfied that your trip is realistic in your case. Therefore on the balance of probabilities, am not satisfied that you are genuinely seeking entry or that you intend to leave the UK at the end of the visit". Here are my concerns: 1. My total emolument (even stated in the intro letter from my employers to ECO) is about 6m, broken down into monthly salary of 140k and various allowances which account for the rest. 2. I attached a schedule of travel expenses which indicated that the trip will cost us around 650k from the 1.2m available then. 3. I included my employment letter, promotion letter, leave letter, staff I.D copy, all to prove employment and landed property to prove ties. 4. My bank statement had a turnover in excess of 4m in d 6 months directly traceable to my employers even from the bank narrations. 5. I attached tour bookings and places to see in London etc. 6. I didn't break any laws or cause any trouble the first time I went. 7. I gave detailed explanation of my finances in section 9 of the form, making sure I tied every inflow in my account to a particular allowance etc 8. The current account I used is solely for official salary purposes only. Please, what did I do wrong? Was the ECO just having a bad day? What do I do now? |

Hi, VicJustice. Quick clarification needed on this "Money Lodgement" issue.i asked you earlier in the enquiries group but the shorthand language you deemed confusing. sorry abt that. My annuals (as stated/broken down in employer letter of intro) is 6 Million made up of salary (180k monthly) and various allowances. On a particular month, we received an allowance into my salary current account which i put into fixed deposit with the same bank so as not to overspend. I ask you, if i liquidate the fixed deposit 2 months to application and the bank credits back into my salary current account (where the funds were taken from initially) with the proceeds, would it still be "Money Lodgement"? kindly note that 1. the trasaction is directly traceable to the account, 2. all my salary and other allowances go thru the account, so there is history of income and expenditure over a long time, 3. i shall attach with application all the fixed deposit certificates given for the period as well as a detailed explanation refering to the bank statement on when the funds were debited by the bank and were credited back too. 4. The funds is good enough to sustain us for the trip as well as have something left for after the trip. Thank you. |

As a student, am not sure it matters really as students are not expected to have savings. when i applied for ma wife, i put a detailed sponsorship letter for her including a breakdown of what i expect to spend on her. |
